BackgroundIndividuals with mild cognitive impairment and dementia have impaired physical and cognitive functions, leading to a reduced quality of life compared with those without such impairment. Exergaming, which is defined as a combination of exercise and gaming, is an innovative, fun, and relatively safe way to exercise in a virtual reality or gaming environment. Therefore, exergaming may help people living with mild cognitive impairment or dementia to overcome obstacles that they may experience regarding regular exercise and activities. ObjectiveThe aim of this systematic review was to review studies on exergaming interventions administered to elderly individuals with mild cognitive impairment and dementia, and to summarize the results related to physical and cognitive functions such as balance, gait, executive function, and episodic memory. MethodsWe searched Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Medline, Embase, PsycINFO, Amed, and Nursing Database for articles published from the inception of the respective databases to January 2019. We included all clinical trials of exergaming interventions in individuals with mild cognitive impairment and dementia for review. The risk of bias was independently evaluated by two reviewers using the Cochrane Collaboration and Risk of Bias in Non-randomized Studies of Interventions tools. ResultsTen studies involving 702 participants were included for review. There was consistent evidence from 7 studies with a low risk of bias showing statistically significant effects of exergaming on cognitive functioning in people with mild cognitive impairment and dementia. With respect to physical function, 3 of 5 full-scale studies found positive results, and the intensity of most games was classified as moderate. ConclusionsOverall, exergaming is an innovative tool for improving physical and cognitive function in people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia, although there is high heterogeneity among studies in terms of the duration, frequency, and gaming platform used. The quality of the included articles was moderate to high. More high-quality studies with more accurate outcome indicators are needed for further exploration and validation of the benefits of exergaming for this population.

Cognitive dysfunction refers to the functional impairment in one or more cognitive domains, mostly occurs in older adults. Cognitive dysfunction can commonly be divided into subjective cognitive decline (SCD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, depending on the degree of cognitive impairment. People with SCD or MCI have a higher risk of dementia, which seriously affects their quality of life, and imposes a huge burden on families and society. Numerous studies have demonstrated that physical activity is one effective non-pharmacological intervention for cognitive dysfunction, but there are no uniform standards for physical activity programs for cognitive dysfunction worldwide, and China still has no physical activity guidelines based on the values and preferences of older adults with cognitive dysfunction, partially impeding the dissemination and application of relevant evidence. In view of this, we developed a guideline containing eight recommendations that is applicable in China, namely the Clinical Practice Guideline on Non-pharmacological Interventions for Older Adults with Cognitive Dysfunction: Physical Activity, by the use of existing evidence, and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) framework combined with values and preferences of Chinese older adults with cognitive dysfunction. This guideline will contribute to the reduction of the incidence of cognitive dysfunction, and preventing or slowing the progression of cognitive dysfunction to dementia.

BACKGROUND Apatite is a common U-bearing accessory mineral with a U-Pb closure temperature of ~500℃, making U-Pb dating of apatite a potentially valuable thermochronometer. However, its low U concentration, high common lead concentration and lack of reference material has limited widespread application to LA-ICP-MS dating. OBJECTIVES To develop a technique for U-Pb dating of apatite using laser ablation sector field inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-HR-ICP-MS). METHODS The U-Pb isotope ratio in apatite samples was determined by LA-HR-ICP-MS, with apatite MAD2 as the external standard to correct U-Pb and Pb-Pb elemental fractionation directly without a common Pb correction. RESULTS Long-term U-Pb analysis of Madagascar apatite sample (MAD2) showed homogeneous distribution of U, Pb and U-Pb isotope ratios, with average contents of U and Pb ~23.8×10-6 and ~13.5×10-6, respectively and weighted average 207Pb/206Pb and 206Pb/238U ratios of 0.0941±0.0006 and 0.0794±0.0004, respectively. Taking MAD2 apatite as a reference mineral, combined with 207Pb-correction method, the ages of apatite samples, McClure Mountain (521±5Ma), Tory-Hill-apt (1021±16Ma), a Durango (30.7±1.5Ma) and Fagnshan diorite apatite (~131Ma) can be determined accurately. CONCLUSIONS The Madagascar apatite sample (MAD2) can be used to calibrate apatite U-Pb isotope ratio measured by LA-ICP-MS directly, without common-Pb correction, similar to the calibration strategy in zircon U-Pb dating. The method greatly reduces the difficulty of data processing during apatite U-Pb dating by LA-ICP-MS, which is conducive to the wide application of the method.

This paper presents a robust point cloud registration method based on a multi-scale covariance matrix descriptor and an accurate transformation estimation. Compared with state-of-the-art feature descriptors, such as FPH, 3DSC, spin image, etc., our proposed multi-scale covariance matrix descriptor is superior for dealing with registration problems in a higher noise environment since the mean operation in generating the covariance matrix can filter out most of the noise-damaged samples or outliers and also make itself robust to noise. Compared with transformation estimation, such as feature matching, clustering, ICP, RANSAC, etc., our transformation estimation is able to find a better optimal transformation between a pair of point clouds since our transformation estimation is a multi-level point cloud transformation estimator including feature matching, coarse transformation estimation based on clustering, and a fine transformation estimation based on ICP. Experiment findings reveal that our proposed feature descriptor and transformation estimation outperforms state-of-the-art feature descriptors and transformation estimation, and registration effectiveness based on our registration framework of point cloud is extremely successful in the Stanford 3D Scanning Repository, the SpaceTime dataset, and the Kinect dataset, where the Stanford 3D Scanning Repository is known for its comprehensive collection of high-quality 3D scans, and the SpaceTime dataset and the Kinect dataset are captured by a SpaceTime Stereo scanner and a low-cost Microsoft Kinect scanner, respectively. A series of three CGSP‐P phosphate matrix reference materials, with variable element mass fractions, were synthesised by co‐precipitation with CaCl2 and (NH4)3PO4 to form a hydroxylapatite matrix. Each powder sample was packaged into multiple bottles and pressed into tablets as replicates. The within‐bottle homogeneity was evaluated by the repeatability of element mass fractions of six spots in per tablet of CGSP‐Ps by LA‐ICP‐MS. For the between‐bottle homogeneity evaluation, one approach adopted the % RSD of element mass fractions in twelve different tablets from twelve bottles in the same reference material in comparison with the repeatability field of LA‐ICP‐MS analyses obtained from homogeneous glasses, and the other used a one‐way analysis of variance (ANOVA) approach. Most of the elements (e.g., Mg, Ca, P, Mn and REE) were homogenous within 10% RSD, and other elements (e.g., Si, Al, K, Rb, Cs and Ni) were considered heterogeneous (with > 20% RSD). All of the elements passed the t‐test except Ni in CGSP‐P3, and V, Cr, Ni, Zr, Gd, Dy and Th in CGSP‐P4 after a 29‐month period stability examination by LA‐ICP‐MS. The preliminary reference values and standard uncertainties for CGSP‐Ps are given with a network of methods and eight laboratories by bulk analysis according to ISO Guide 35:2006 and JJF 1343‐2012. As the country that emits the most carbon in the world, China needs significant and urgent changes in carbon emission control in the transportation sector in order to achieve the goals of reaching peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. Therefore, the promotion of new energy vehicles has become the key factor to achieve these two objectives. For the reason that the comprehensive transportation cost directly affects the end customer's choice of heavy truck models, this work compares the advantages, disadvantages, and economic feasibility of diesel, liquefied natural gas (LNG), electric, hydrogen, and methanol heavy trucks from a total life cycle cost and end-user perspective under various scenarios. The study results show that when the prices of diesel, LNG, electricity, and methanol fuels are at their highest, and the price of hydrogen is 35 CNY/kg, the total life cycle cost of the five types of heavy trucks from highest to lowest are hydrogen heavy trucks (HHT), methanol heavy trucks (MHT), diesel heavy trucks (DHT), electric heavy trucks (EHT), and LNG heavy trucks (LNGHT), ignoring the adverse effects of cold environments on car batteries. When the prices of diesel, LNG, electricity, and methanol fuels are at average or lowest levels, and the price of hydrogen is 30 CNY/kg or 25 CNY/kg, the life cycle cost of the five heavy trucks from highest to lowest are HHT, DHT, MHT, EHT, and LNGHT. When considering the impact of cold environments, even with lower electricity prices, EHT struggle to be economical when LNG prices are low. If the electricity price is above 1 CNY/kWh, regardless of the impact of cold environments, the economic viability of EHT is lower than that of HHT with a purchase cost of 500,000 CNY and a hydrogen price of 25 CNY/kg. Simultaneously, an exhaustive competitiveness analysis of heavy trucks powered by diverse energy sources highlights the specific categories of heavy trucks that ought to be prioritized for development during various periods and the challenges they confront. Finally, based on the analysis results and future development trends, the corresponding policy recommendations are proposed to facilitate high decarbonization in the transportation sector. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are vital nutrients in human physiology and are implicated in various chronic diseases. However, the relationship between PUFAs and gastric polyps remains unclear. This study employed liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to assess PUFA levels in the serum of 350 patients, along with analyzing the ω-6 to ω-3 ratio. The results revealed significant differences in the levels of C16:1, C18:1, C18:2, α-C18:3, γ-C18:3, C20:1, C20:4, C20:5, ω-3-C22:5, ω-6-C22:5, and C22:6, as well as ω-6 to ω-3 ratio between the control and gasteic polyp groups. Moreover, setting the threshold for ω-6: ω-3 at 10 revealed a close correlation between polyp occurrence and this ratio. These findings suggest that PUFAs and the ω-6 to ω-3 ratio hold promise as potential early screening markers for gastric polyps. Objective: This study sought to develop and validate a 6-year risk prediction model in older adults with cognitive frailty (CF). Methods: In the secondary analysis of Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS), participants from the 2011–2018 cohort were included to develop the prediction model. The CF was assessed by the Chinese version of Mini-Mental State Exam (CMMSE) and the modified Fried criteria. The stepwise regression was used to select predictors, and the logistic regression analysis was conducted to construct the model. The model was externally validated using the temporal validation method via the 2005–2011 cohort. The discrimination was measured by the area under the curve (AUC), and the calibration was measured by the calibration plot. A nomogram was conducted to vividly present the prediction model. Results: The development dataset included 2420 participants aged 60 years or above, and 243 participants suffered from CF during a median follow-up period of 6.91 years (interquartile range 5.47–7.10 years). Six predictors, namely, age, sex, residence, body mass index (BMI), exercise, and physical disability, were finally used to develop the model. The model performed well with the AUC of 0.830 and 0.840 in the development and external validation datasets, respectively. Conclusion: The study could provide a practical tool to identify older adults with a high risk of CF early. Furthermore, targeting modifiable factors could prevent about half of the new-onset CF during a 6-year follow-up. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wagyu is recognized for producing marbled beef with high nutritional value and flavor. Reportedly, Wagyu has been widely used to improve the meat quality of local breeds around the world. However, studies on the genetic mechanism of meat quality in Wagyu at the whole‐genome level are rarely reported. Here, whole‐genome sequencing data of 11 Wagyu and 115 other individuals were used to explore the genomic variations and genes under selection pressure in Wagyu. A total of 31 349 non‐synonymous variants and 53 102 synonymous variants were identified in Wagyu. The population structure analysis showed that Wagyu had the closest genetic relationship with Mishima–Ushi cattle and was apparently separated from other cattle breeds. Then, composite likelihood ratio (CLR), integrated haplotype score, fixation index and cross‐population composite likelihood ratio (XP‐CLR) tests were performed to identify the candidate genes under positive selection in Wagyu. In total, 770 regions containing 312 genes were identified by at least three methods. Among them, 97 regions containing 27 genes were detected by all four methods. We specifically illustrate a list of interesting genes, including LRP2BP, GAA, CACNG6, CXADR, GPCPD1, KLF2, KLF13, SOX5, MYBPC1, SLC25A10, ATP8A1 and MYH15, which are associated with lipid metabolism, fat deposition, muscle development, bone development, feed intake and growth traits in Wagyu. This is the first study to explore the genomic variations and selection signatures of Wagyu at the whole‐genome level. This article analyzes the genetic variants in protein-coding genes of the Aoluguya reindeer, a subspecies of reindeer facing the threat of extinction. The study collected blood samples from healthy and unrelated male adult individuals and sequenced their DNA. The analysis revealed a significant number of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and indels in the reindeer population. The findings provide valuable insights into the genetic variation and adaptation of the Aoluguya reindeer and the entire reindeer species. [Extracted from the article]

An environmentally friendly alkaline electrolyte of silicate and borate, which contained the addition of carbohydrates (lactose, starch, and dextrin), was applied to produce micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings on AZ31B magnesium alloy surfaces in constant current mode. The effects of the carbohydrates on the performance of the MAO coatings were investigated using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), the salt spray test, potentiodynamic polarization curves, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results show that the carbohydrates effectively inhibited spark discharge, so the anodized growth process, surface morphology, composition, and corrosion resistance of the MAO coatings were strongly dependent on the carbohydrate concentration. This is ascribed to the surface adsorption layer formed on the surface of the magnesium alloy. When the carbohydrate concentration was 10 g/L, smooth, compact, and thick MAO coatings with excellent corrosion resistance on the magnesium alloy were obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hydrogen energy is regarded as a key path to combat climate change and promote sustainable economic and social development. The fluctuation of renewable energy leads to frequent start/stop cycles in hydrogen electrolysis equipment. However, electrochemical energy storage, with its fast response characteristics, helps regulate the power of hydrogen electrolysis, enabling smooth operation. In this study, a multi-objective constrained operation optimization model for a wind/battery storage/alkaline electrolyzer system is constructed. Both profit maximization and power abandonment rate minimization are considered. In addition, some constraints, such as minimum start/stop times, upper and lower power limits, and input fluctuation limits, are also taken into account. Then, the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) algorithm and the entropy method are used to optimize the operation strategy of the hybrid energy system by considering dynamic hydrogen production efficiency, and through optimization to obtain the best hydrogen production power of the system under the two objectives. The change in dynamic hydrogen production efficiency is mainly related to the change in electrolyzer power, and the system can be better adjusted according to the actual supply of renewable energy to avoid the waste of renewable energy. Our results show that the distribution of Pareto solutions is uniform, which indicates the suitability of the NSGA-II algorithm. In addition, the optimal solution indicates that the battery storage and alkaline electrolyzer can complement each other in operation and achieve the absorption of wind power. The dynamic hydrogen production efficiency can make the electrolyzer operate more efficiently, which paves the way for system optimization. Milk fat globules (MFGs) surround the triacylglycerol core that composes milk fat. The aim of this study is to induce milk fat depression via dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) supplementation to study MFG size parameters, number and glycerophospholipid composition. Eighteen Holstein dairy cows (136 ± 28 days in milk, 571 ± 37.9 kg body weight, 27.6 ± 2.1 kg milk/day) were selected and randomly assigned to a control or CLA group for a 14‐day period. Cows were fed a basal diet (control, n = 8) or the control plus 400 g/day CLA (C18:2 cis‐9, trans‐11 38.1% and C18:2 trans‐10, cis‐12 36.8%) (n = 10) for 7 days after which the CLA group was switched to the basal diet for another 7 days along with the control group. Cow performance, milk composition, MFG size and numbers were measured daily. On the seventh day after the start of the experiment, milk samples were identified and the quantification of glycerophospholipid compounds, and RNA were isolated from milk fat samples for a real‐time polymerase chain reaction. Compared with control, at Day 7 from the start of feeding, supplemental CLA did not affect milk production (28.09 vs. 28.50 kg/day), dry matter intake (14.9 vs. 15.4 kg/day), or milk protein (3.55/100 vs. 3.70 g/100 ml) and lactose contents (5.11/100 vs. 5.17 g/100 ml). However, although the specific surface area of MFG (2138 vs. 1815 m²/kg) was greater, CLA reduced milk fat content (1.95/100 vs 3.64 g/100 ml on Day 7) and particle size parameters of MFG. The number of MFG gradually decreased until Day 7 of feeding, and then increased by Day 14 (2.96 × 109 on Day 1, 1.63 × 109 on Day 7 and 2.28 × 109 on Day 14) in the CLA group. Compared with control, glycerophospholipid analysis revealed that concentrations of phosphatidylcholine (PC) (e.g., PC [16:0/18:1] 20322 vs. 29793 nmol/L), lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) (e.g., LPE [18:1] 956 vs. 4610 nmol/L) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) (e.g., PE [16:0/18:1] 7000 vs. 9769 nmol/L) in milk lipids decreased during CLA feeding. In contrast, concentrations of phosphatidylinositol (PI) (e.g., PI [18:0/18:1] 4052 vs. 1799 nmol/L) and phosphatidylserine (PS) (e.g., PS [18:1/18:2] 9500 vs. 6843 nmol/L) increased. The messenger RNA abundance of fatty acid synthase, diacylglycerol O‐acyltransferase 1, glycerol‐3‐phosphate acyltransferase 4 and phosphate cytidylyltransferase 1, choline, alpha (PCYT1A) were downregulated in the CLA group, confirming published data demonstrating a negative effect of CLA on lipogenesis in the mammary gland. Simple Summary: The Chinese Red Steppe Cattle (CRS) is a well-known dual-purpose (meat and milk) cattle breed. Here, the genetic variation and population structure of CRS were studied using 100 K SNP genotyping data. The results show that the genetic structure of CRS is different from other populations, the level of genetic diversity is high, and the level of inbreeding is low. In conclusion, our research provides the genetic basis for the prominent characteristics of CRS, which can be used to improve the breeding program of CRS in the future. Chinese Red Steppe Cattle (CRS), a composite cattle breed, is well known for its milk production, high slaughter rate, carcass traits, and meat quality. Nowadays, it is widely bred in Jilin and Hebei Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous region. However, the population structure and the genetic basis of prominent characteristics of CRS are still unknown. In this study, we systematically describe their population structure, genetic diversity, and selection signature based on genotyping data from 61 CRS individuals with GGP Bovine 100 K chip. The results showed that CRS cattle had low inbreeding levels and had formed a unique genetic structure feature. Using two complementary methods (including comprehensive haplotype score and complex likelihood ratio), we identified 1291 and 1285 potentially selected genes, respectively. There were 141 genes annotated in common 106 overlapping genomic regions covered 5.62 Mb, including PLAG1, PRKG2, DGAT1, PARP10, TONSL, ADCK5, and BMP3, most of which were enriched in pathways related to muscle growth and differentiation, milk production, and lipid metabolism. Aims: A meta‐analysis was carried out to review and identify correlates of stigma in poststroke patients. Background: Patients suffer from impaired physical functions and sequelae of stroke. Stroke‐related stigma hinders the recovery process and produces poorer clinical outcomes of stroke, leading to compromised quality of life. Design: A systematic review and meta‐analysis was reported by following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Review Methods: Nine databases were searched from their inception to May 2021 to identify studies focused on the relationships among demographics, disease‐related factors, psychosocial factors and poststroke stigma. Included studies were assessed by using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) scale. The statistical software R studios were used to perform statistical analysis. Results: Nineteen studies were included in the meta‐analysis. Four demographic factors (age, caregiver, residence, monthly income), seven stroke‐related characteristics (type of stroke, mRS, ADLs, stroke duration, recurrence, sequelae, chronic disease comorbidity) and three psychosocial factors (depression, social support, quality of life) showed significant associations with stroke‐related stigma. Conclusions: The results of our study can serve as a foundation for designing interventions to reduce stigma and improve the overall quality of life of poststroke patients and may produce positive clinical outcomes. Healthcare professionals should be aware of stroke patients who are characterised by correlates of stigma. Relevance to clinical practice Poststroke patients showed a moderate‐to‐high level of stigma, and this issue warrants more attention. This review provides a preliminary foundation for healthcare professionals to develop interventions to address stroke‐related stigma by focusing on demographic, disease‐related and psychosocial factors. Additionally, stigma identification should be a part of clinical nursing evaluation.
