Abstract To solve the problem of severe rock pressure near coal mining face tunnels, a high‐pressure abrasive water jet slotting and roof breaking pressure relief technology is proposed. First, the laneway deformation mechanism and the process of hard rock slotting using high‐pressure abrasive water jets under long‐distance cantilever conditions are analyzed, and the crack initiation conditions of roof strata are obtained. Second, slotting tests under different slotting pressures, nozzle diameters, abrasive particle sizes and slotting times were carried out, and the slotting parameters of a high‐pressure abrasive water jet on a typical roof rock were obtained. Finally, industrial application was carried out in the 81,403 working face of Huayang No.1 Mine. After the hydraulic roof slotting measures were implemented in the test area, the maximum axial force of the anchor cable was reduced to 67 kN, which was 35.5% lower than that of the comparison. The average stress of the coal seam was 15 MPa, which was approximately 25% lower than that of the comparison. The deformation of the tunnel in the experimental area was significantly controlled, with an average movement of 30.0% toward the roof and floor of the tunnel and an average movement of 23.2% toward the two sides of the tunnel. Compared with the movement in the comparison section, the movement toward the roof and floor of the laneway was 42.3% lower, and the movement toward the two sides was 38.2% lower. The industrial application results show that high‐pressure abrasive water jet roof slotting and pressure relief technology can cut off the stress transmission path between the roof rock on both sides, effectively improve the stress state of the surrounding rock of the laneway, reduce the deformation of the roof, floor and two sides of the working face in the later stage of the mining laneway.

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of combining serum lectin galactoside-binding soluble 3 binding protein (LGALS3BP) with growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15) for predicting outcomes in sepsis patients in an intensive care unit (ICU) setting. Methods: The study involved 208 sepsis patients from the ICU of our hospital. These patients were categorized based on their 28-day survival outcomes into two groups: 166 in the survival group and 42 in the mortality group. The serum levels of LGALS3BP and GDF-15 were measured using the ELISA technique. Pearson and Spearman methods were utilized for correlation analysis. Factors affecting mortality in ICU sepsis patients were evaluated through multivariate logistic regression analysis. The efficacy of these biomarkers in prognosis prediction was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results: The proportion of septic shock, APACHE II score, SOFA score, and serum LGALS3BP and GDF-15 levels in ICU sepsis patients in the death group were obviously higher than those in the survival group (P< 0.05). The severity of ICU sepsis patients, APACHE II score, and SOFA score were obviously positively correlated with serum LGALS3BP and GDF-15 levels (P< 0.05). LGALS3BP (OR: 95% CI=2.745:1.583~4.761) and GDF-15 (OR: 95% CI=2.639:1.423~4.893) were independent risk factors for death in ICU sepsis patients (P< 0.05). The AUC of serum LGALS3BP and GDF-15 levels alone in predicting death in ICU sepsis patients was 0.859 and 0.854, obviously lower than the AUC of the combination, 0.943 (Z=2.704, 2.287, P< 0.05). The AUC for predicting mortality in ICU sepsis patients using the APACHE II and SOFA scores were 0.832 and 0.842, respectively. The differences in comparison to the AUCs of LGALS3BP and GDF-15 were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Serum levels of LGALS3BP and GDF-15 can both be used as predictive indicators for death in ICU sepsis patients, and their combined predictive efficacy is better. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Application Programming Interface (API) migration is a common task for adapting software across different programming languages and platforms, where manually constructing the mapping relations between APIs is indeed time-consuming and error-prone. To facilitate this process, many automated API mapping approaches have been proposed. However, existing approaches were mainly designed and evaluated for mapping APIs of statically-typed languages, while their performance on dynamically-typed languages remains unexplored. In this article, we conduct the first extensive study to explore existing API mapping approaches' performance for mapping APIs in dynamically-typed languages, for which we have manually constructed a high-quality dataset. According to the empirical results, we have summarized several insights. In particular, the source code implementations of APIs can significantly improve the effectiveness of API mapping. However, due to the confidentiality policy, they may not be available in practice. To overcome this, we propose a novel API mapping approach, named Matl, which leverages the transfer learning technique to learn the semantic embeddings of source code implementations from large-scale open-source repositories and then transfers the learned model to facilitate the mapping of APIs. In this way, Matl can produce more accurate API embedding of its functionality for more effective mapping without knowing the source code of the APIs. To evaluate the performance of Matl, we have conducted an extensive study by comparing Matl with state-of-the-art approaches. The results demonstrate that Matl is indeed effective as it improves the state-of-the-art approach by at least 18.36% for mapping APIs of dynamically-typed language and by 30.77% for mapping APIs of the statically-typed language. We explore the role of serum microRNA-24 (miR-24) and microRNA-223 (miR-223) in the prognosis of severe pneumonia.Methods: There were a total of 96 patients with general pneumonia, 94 patients with severe pneumonia, and 93 healthy people, who were enrolled in this study. The levels of serum miR-24 and miR-223 were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR in all groups.Results: The serum miR-223 level in the severe group was higher than that in the common group and the control group, and the miR-24 level was lower than that in the common group and the control group (P< 0.05). The serum miR-223 levels and APACHEII scores in the death group were higher than those in the survival group on the first, third, and seventh day after admission, while the miR-24 levels were lower than those in the survival group (P< 0.05). The proportion of patients with mechanical ventilation in the death group was higher than that in the survival group (P< 0.05). The level of serum miR-24 was negatively correlated with APACHEII score and mechanical ventilation in patients who died of severe pneumonia (P< 0.05), and miR-223 was positively correlated with APACHEII score and mechanical ventilation (P< 0.05). The AUC predicted by serum miR-24, miR-223, and APACHEII scores alone and jointly were 0.867, 0.839, 0.791, and 0.952, respectively. MiR-24 and miR-223 are protective and independent risk factors for mortality in severe pneumonia patients, respectively (P< 0.05). MiR-24 was a protective factor affecting the death of patients with severe pneumonia, and miR-223 was an independent risk factor affecting the death of patients with severe pneumonia (P< 0.05).Conclusion: The combination of serum miR-24 and miR-223 levels on the first day after admission and APACHEII score can effectively predict prognosis. Robot-assisted orthopedic surgery has great application prospects, and the accuracy of the robot is the key to its overall performance. The aim of this study was to develop a new orthopedic surgical robot to assist in spinal surgeries and to compare its feasibility and accuracy with the existing orthopedic robot. A new type of high-precision orthopedic surgical robot (Tuoshou) was developed. A multicenter, randomized controlled trial was carried out to compare the Tuoshou with the TiRobot (TINAVI Medical Technologies Co., Ltd., Beijing) to evaluate the accuracy and safety of their navigation and positioning. A total of 112 patients were randomized, and 108 patients completed the study. The position deviation of the Kirschner wire placement in the Tuoshou group was smaller than that in the TiRobot group (p = 0.014). The Tuoshou group was better than the TiRobot group in terms of the pedicle screw insertion accuracy (p = 0.016) and entry point deviation (p < 0.001). No differences were observed in endpoint deviation (p = 0.170), axial deviation (p = 0.170), sagittal deviation (p = 0.324), and spatial deviation (p = 0.299). There was no difference in security indicators. The new orthopedic surgical robot was highly accurate and optimized for clinical practice, making it suitable for clinical application. Mandibular bone defect reconstruction is an urgent challenge due to the requirements for daily eating and facial aesthetics. Three-dimensional- (3D-) printed titanium (Ti) scaffolds could provide patient-specific implants for bone defects. Appropriate load-bearing properties are also required during bone reconstruction, which makes them potential candidates for mandibular bone defect reconstruction implants. However, in clinical practice, the insufficient osteogenesis of the scaffolds needs to be further improved. In this study, we first encapsulated bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) into Matrigel. Subsequently, the BMSC-containing Matrigels were infiltrated into porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds. The Matrigels in the scaffolds provided a 3D culture environment for the BMSCs, which was important for osteoblast differentiation and new bone formation. Our results showed that rats with a full thickness of critical mandibular defects treated with Matrigel-infiltrated Ti6Al4V scaffolds exhibited better new bone formation than rats with local BMSC injection or Matrigel-treated defects. Our data suggest that Matrigel is able to create a more favorable 3D microenvironment for BMSCs, and Matrigel containing infiltrated BMSCs may be a promising method for enhancing the bone formation properties of 3D-printed Ti6Al4V scaffolds. Conventional education results in unsatisfactory morphological understanding of acetabular fractures due to lack of three-dimensional (3D) details and tactile feedback of real fractures. Virtual reality (VR) and 3D printing (3DP) techniques are widely applied in teaching. The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of physical model (PM), VR and 3DP models in education of morphological understanding of acetabular fractures. 141 students were invited to participate in this study. Participants were equally and randomly assigned to the PM, VR and 3DP learning groups. Three-level objective tests were conducted to evaluate learning, including identifying anatomical landmarks, describing fracture lines, identifying classification, and inferring fracture mechanism. Four subjective questions were asked to evaluate the usability and value of instructional materials. Generally, the 3DP group showed a clear advantage over the PM and VR groups in objective tests, while there was no significant difference between the PM and VR groups. 3DP was considered to be the most valuable learning tool for understanding acetabular fractures. The findings demonstrate that 3DP modelling of real fractures is an effective learning instrument that can be used to understand the morphology of acetabular fractures and promote subjective interest.
