To enhance the accuracy of learning models, it becomes imperative to train them on more extensive datasets. Unfortunately, access to such data is often restricted because data providers are hesitant to share their data due to privacy concerns. Hence, it is critical to develop obfuscation techniques that empower data providers to transform their datasets into new ones that ensure the desired level of privacy. In this paper, we present an approach where data providers utilize a neural network based on the autoencoder architecture to safeguard the sensitive components of their data while preserving the utility of the remaining parts. More specifically, within the autoencoder framework and after the encoding process, a classifier is used to extract the private feature from the dataset. This feature is then decorrelated from the other remaining features and subsequently subjected to noise. The proposed method is flexible, allowing data providers to adjust their desired level of privacy by changing the noise level. Additionally, our approach demonstrates superior performance in achieving the desired trade-off between utility and privacy compared to similar methods, all while maintaining a simpler structure. Significance: Perturbations in the microcirculatory system have been observed in neurological conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease or systemic inflammation. However, changes occurring at the level of the capillary are difficult to translate to biomarkers that could be measured macroscopically. Aim: We aim to evaluate whether transit time changes reflect capillary stalling and to what degree. Approach: We employ a combined spectral optical coherence tomography (OCT) and fluorescence optical imaging (FOI) system to investigate the relation between capillary stalling and transit time in a mouse model of systemic inflammation induced by intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide. Angiograms are obtained using OCT, and fluorescence signal images are acquired by the FOI system upon intravenous injection of fluorescein isothiocyanate via a catheter inserted into the tail vein. Results: Our findings reveal that lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administration significantly increases both the percentage and duration of capillary stalling compared to mice receiving a 0.9% saline injection. Moreover, LPS-induced mice exhibit significantly prolonged arteriovenous transit time compared to control mice. Conclusions: These observations suggest that capillary stalling, induced by inflammation, modulates cerebral mean transit time, a measure that has translational potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: The role of cerebral microvasculature in cognitive dysfunction can be investigated by identifying the impact of blood flow on cortical tissue oxygenation. In this paper, the impact of capillary stalls on microcirculatory characteristics such as flow and hematocrit (Ht) in the cortical angioarchitecture is studied. Methods: Using a deterministic mathematical model to simulate blood flow in a realistic mouse cortex, hemodynamics parameters, including pressure, flow, vessel diameter‐adjustable hematocrit, and transit time are calculated as a function of stalling events. Results: Using a non‐linear plasma skimming model, it is observed that Ht increases in the penetrating arteries from the pial vessels as a function of cortical depth. The incidence of stalling on Ht distribution along the blood network vessels shows reduction of RBCs around the tissue near occlusion sites and decreased Ht concentration downstream from the blockage points. Moreover, upstream of the occlusion, there is a noticeable increase of the Ht, leading to larger flow resistance due to higher blood viscosity. We predicted marked changes in transit time behavior due to stalls which match trends observed in mice in vivo. Conclusions: These changes to blood cell quantity and quality may be implicated in the development of Alzheimer's disease and contribute to the course of the illness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AbstractThis research aims to analyze cylindrical shells made of functionally graded porous materials, focusing on three types of monotonous, symmetric, and nonsymmetric porosity distributions. Material properties are defined for different porosity distributions, individually. Due to the slight variation of Poisson’s ratio, it is assumed to be constant throughout the thickness of the cylinder. The governing equations are derived using the first-order shear deformation theory and the virtual work principle. The governing equations are solved using the eigenvalue–eigenvector method for clamped–clamped boundary conditions. The solution’s accuracy and convergence are validated by conducting a comparative study. Finally, the numerical results include the components of displacement, axial displacement, radial displacement, circumferential stress, radial stress, and shear stress are reported according to porosity coefficient and different porosity distributions. The present study investigates the interaction between two alkylating agent drugs, cyclophosphamide (CP) and mechlorethamine (MC), with Single-Wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and Boron Nitride nanotubes (BNNTs). Calculations have been performed by using methods of quantum mechanics and molecular mechanics. The effects of different solvents on the interaction of CP and MC with SWCNTs and BNNTs within the Onsager self-consistent reaction field (SCRF) model, as well as the effects of temperature on the stability of the interactions between the compounds in various solvents have been investigated. Thermodynamic parameters, Frontier Molecular Orbitals (FMOs), and Total Density of States (DOS) of the title compounds have been evaluated by using theoretical calculations. Moreover, the interaction of CP and MC with SWCNTs and BNNTs have been examined through AMBER, OPLS, CHARMM, and MM+ force fields through the molecular mechanic (MM) method. The Monte Carlo simulation of CP and MC structures connected to carbon and boron nitride nanotubes in Water, Methanol, Ethanol, DMSO, and Chloroform solvents showed that Chloroform is the most stable solvent for simulation with the lowest energy, which is directly attributed to dielectric constant. Studies show that the results of Monte Carlo, molecular mechanics, and quantum mechanics are consistent with each other in terms of thermodynamic properties and conformer populations. Despite the spatial effects of tourist attractions in promoting smart growth principles in tourist cities, it is necessary to pay attention to the spatial synergy between tourist attractions in order to control their destructive spatial effects and realize sustainable development (SD) in tourist cities. In this research, based on smart growth measures, the necessity of spatial synergy between tourist attractions in sustainable neighborhood development is explained using innovative spatial statistical analysis methods at the scale of 469 neighborhood units of Mashhad city. The findings of the research confirm significant synergistic effect of tourist attractions on urban smart growth indicators and composite indicator of smart growth of the surrounding neighborhood units. On the other hand, lack of spatial synergy between Mashhad’s main tourist attraction in the city center and other tourist attractions leads to unbalanced residential and activity development and unbalanced distribution of tourism services. This paper introduces Tensor-Organized Memory (TOM), a novel neuromorphic architecture inspired by the human brain's structural and functional principles. Utilizing spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) and Hebbian rules, TOM exhibits cognitive behaviors similar to the human brain. Compared to conventional architectures using a simplified leaky integrate-and-fire (LIF) neuron model, TOM showcases robust performance, even in noisy conditions. TOM's adaptability and unique organizational structure, rooted in the Columnar-Organized Memory (COM) framework, position it as a transformative digital memory processing solution. Innovative neural architecture, advanced recognition mechanisms, and integration of synaptic plasticity rules enhance TOM's cognitive capabilities. We have compared the TOM architecture with a conventional floating-point architecture, using a simplified LIF neuron model. We also implemented tests with varying noise levels and partially erased messages to evaluate its robustness. Despite the slight degradation in performance with noisy messages beyond 30%, the TOM architecture exhibited appreciable performance under less-than-ideal conditions. This exploration into the TOM architecture reveals its potential as a framework for future neuromorphic systems. This study lays the groundwork for future applications in implementing neuromorphic chips for high-performance intelligent edge devices, thereby revolutionizing industries and enhancing user experiences within the power of artificial intelligence. This study aims to predict vital soil physical properties, including clay, sand, and silt, which are essential for agricultural management and environmental protection. Precision distribution of soil texture is crucial for effective land resource management and precision agriculture. To achieve this, we propose an innovative approach that combines Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) with the fusion of satellite imagery to predict soil physical properties. We collected 317 soil samples from Iran's Golestan province for dependent data. The independent dataset encompasses 14 parameters from Landsat-8 satellite images, seven topographic parameters from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) DEM, and two meteorological parameters. Using the Random Forest (RF) algorithm, we conducted feature importance analysis. We employed a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), RF, and our hybrid CNN-RF model to predict soil properties, comparing their performance with various metrics. This hybrid CNN-RF network combines the strengths of CNN networks and the RF algorithm for improved soil texture prediction. The hybrid CNN-RF model demonstrated superior performance across metrics, excelling in predicting sand (MSE: 0.00003%, RMSE: 0.006%), silt (MSE: 0.00004%, RMSE: 0.006%), and clay (MSE: 0.00005%, RMSE: 0.007%). Moreover, the hybrid model exhibited improved precision in predicting clay (R2: 0.995), sand (R2: 0.992), and silt (R2: 0.987), as indicated by the R2 index. The RF algorithm identified MRVBF, LST, and B7 as the most influential parameters for clay, sand, and silt prediction, respectively, underscoring the significance of remote sensing, topography, and climate. Our integrated GeoAI-satellite imagery approach provides valuable tools for monitoring soil degradation, optimizing agricultural irrigation, and assessing soil quality. The constant emission of polluting gases is causing an urgent need for timely detection of harmful gas mixtures in the atmosphere. A method and algorithm of the determining spectral composition of gas with a gas analyzer using an artificial neural network (ANN) were suggested in the article. A small closed gas dynamic system was designed and used as an experimental bench for collecting and quantifying gas concentrations for testing the proposed method. This device was based on AS7265x and BMP180 sensors connected in parallel to a 3.3 V compatible Arduino Uno board via QWIIC. Experimental tests were conducted with air from the laboratory room, carbon dioxide (CO2), and a mixture of pure oxygen (O2) with nitrogen (N2) in a 9:1 ratio. Three ANNs with one input, one hidden and one output layer were built. The ANN had 5, 10, and 20 hidden neurons, respectively. The dataset was divided into three parts: 70% for training, 15% for validation, and 15% for testing. The mean square error (MSE) error and regression were analyzed during training. Training, testing, and validation error analysis were performed to find the optimal iteration, and the MSE versus training iteration was plotted. The best indicators of training and construction were shown by the ANN with 5 (five) hidden layers, and 16 iterations are enough to train, test and verify this neural network. To test the obtained neural network, the program code was written in the MATLAB. The proposed scheme of the gas analyzer is operable and has a high accuracy of gas detection with a given error of 3%. This paper introduces a novel algorithm for designing a low-pass filter (LPF) and a microstrip Wilkinson power divider (WPD) using a neural network surrogate model. The proposed algorithm is applicable to various microwave devices, enhancing their performance and frequency response. Desirable output parameters can be achieved for the designed LPF and WPD by using the proposed algorithm. The proposed artificial neural network (ANN) surrogate model is employed to calculate the dimensions of the LPF and WPD, resulting in their efficient design. The LPF and WPD designs incorporate open stubs, stepped impedances, triangular-shaped resonators, and meandered lines to achieve optimal performance. The compact LPF occupies a size of only 0.15 λg × 0.081 λg, and exhibits a sharp response within the transmission band, with a sharpness parameter of approximately 185 dB/GHz. The designed WPD, operating at 1.5 GHz, exhibits outstanding harmonics suppression from 2 GHz to 20 GHz, with attenuation levels exceeding 20 dB. The WPD successfully suppresses 12 unwanted harmonics (2nd to 13th). The obtained results demonstrate that the proposed design algorithm effectively accomplishes the LPF and WPD designs, exhibiting desirable parameters such as operating frequency and high-frequency harmonics suppression. The WPD demonstrates a low insertion loss of 0.1 dB (S21 = 0.1 dB), input and output return losses exceeding 30 dB (S11 = −35 dB, S22 = −30 dB), and an output ports isolation of more than 32 dB (S23 = −32 dB), making it suitable for integration into modern communication systems. Prolonged exposure to environmental respirable toxicants can lead to the development and worsening of severe respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and fibrosis. The limited number of FDA-approved inhaled drugs for these serious lung conditions has led to a shift from in vivo towards the use of alternative in vitro human-relevant models to better predict the toxicity of inhaled particles in preclinical research. While there are several inhalation exposure models for the upper airways, the fragile and dynamic nature of the alveolar microenvironment has limited the development of reproducible exposure models for the distal lung. Here, we present a mechanistic approach using a new generation of exposure systems, the Cloud α AX12. This novel in vitro inhalation tool consists of a cloud-based exposure chamber (VITROCELL) that integrates the breathing AXLung-on-chip system (AlveoliX). The ultrathin and porous membrane of the AX12 plate was used to create a complex multicellular model that enables key physiological culture conditions: the air-liquid interface (ALI) and the three-dimensional cyclic stretch (CS). Human-relevant cellular models were established for a) the distal alveolarcapillary interface using primary cell-derived immortalized alveolar epithelial cells (AXiAECs), macrophages (THP-1) and endothelial (HLMVEC) cells, and b) the upperairways using Calu3 cells. Primary human alveolar epithelial cells (AXhAEpCs) were used to validate the toxicity results obtained from the immortalized cell lines. To mimic in vivo relevant aerosol exposures with the Cloud α AX12, three different models were established using: a) titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxide nanoparticles b) polyhexamethylene guanidine a toxic chemical and c) an antiinflammatory inhaled corticosteroid, fluticasone propionate (FL). Our results suggest an important synergistic effect on the air-blood barrier sensitivity, cytotoxicity and inflammation, when air-liquid interface and cyclic stretch culture conditions are combined. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that an in vitro inhalation exposure system for the distal lung has been described with a breathing lung-on-chip technology. The concept of digital twinning is essential for smart manufacturing and cyber-physical systems to be connected to the Metaverse. These digital representations of physical objects can be used for real-time analysis, simulations, and predictive maintenance. A combination of smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and the Metaverse can lead to sustainable productivity in industries. This paper presents a practical approach to implementing digital twins of a magnetic forging holder that was designed and manufactured in this project. Thus, this paper makes two important contributions: the first contribution is the manufacturing of the holder, and the second significant contribution is the creation of its digital twin. The holder benefits from a special design and implementation, making it a user-friendly and powerful tool in materials research. More specifically, it can be employed for the thermomechanical influencing of the structure and, hence, the final properties of the materials under development. In addition, this mechanism allows us to produce a new type of creep-resistant composite material based on Fe, Al, and Y. The magnetic forging holder consolidates the powder material to form a solid state after mechanical alloying. We produce bars from the powder components using a suitable forging process in which extreme grain coarsening occurs after the final heat treatment. Regarding the importance of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Metaverse as two practical emerging technologies to enhance the digitalization of public transportation systems, this article introduces an approach for the improvement of IoT and unmanned electric vehicles in the Metaverse, called the Internet of Unmanned Electric Vehicles (IoUEVs). This research includes two important contributions. The first contribution is the description of a framework for how unmanned electric vehicles can be used in the Metaverse, and the second contribution is the creation of a digital twin for an unmanned electric vehicle. In the digital twin section, which is the focus of this research, we present a digital twin of an electronic differential system (EDS) in which the stability has been improved. Robust fuzzy logic algorithm-based speed controllers are employed in the EDS to independently control the EV wheels driven by high-performance brushless DC (BLDC) electric motors. In this study, the rotor position information of the motors, which is estimated from the low-precision Hall-effect sensors mounted on the motors' shafts, is combined and converted to a set of common switching signals for empowering the EDS of the electric vehicle traction drive system. The proposed digital twin EDS relies on an accurate Hall sensor signals-based synchronizing/locking strategy with a dynamic steering pattern capable of running in severe road conditions with different surface profiles to ensure the EV's stability. Unlike recent EDSs, the proposed digital twinning approach includes a simple practical topology with no need for auxiliary infrastructures, which is able to reduce mechanical losses and stresses and can be adapted to IoUEVs more effectively. Advanced mathematical and deep learning (DL) algorithms have recently played a crucial role in diagnosing medical parameters and diseases. One of these areas that need to be more focused on is dentistry. This is why creating digital twins of dental issues in the metaverse is a practical and effective technique to benefit from the immersive characteristics of this technology and adapt the real world of dentistry to the virtual world. These technologies can create virtual facilities and environments for patients, physicians, and researchers to access a variety of medical services. Experiencing an immersive interaction between doctors and patients can be another considerable advantage of these technologies, which can dramatically improve the efficiency of the healthcare system. In addition, offering these amenities through a blockchain system enhances reliability, safety, openness, and the ability to trace data exchange. It also brings about cost savings through improved efficiencies. In this paper, a digital twin of cervical vertebral maturation (CVM), which is a critical factor in a wide range of dental surgery, within a blockchain-based metaverse platform is designed and implemented. A DL method has been used to create an automated diagnosis process for the upcoming CVM images in the proposed platform. This method includes MobileNetV2, a mobile architecture that improves the performance of mobile models in multiple tasks and benchmarks. The proposed technique of digital twinning is simple, fast, and suitable for physicians and medical specialists, as well as for adapting to the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) due to its low latency and computing costs. One of the important contributions of the current study is to use of DL-based computer vision as a real-time measurement method so that the proposed digital twin does not require additional sensors. Furthermore, a comprehensive conceptual framework for creating digital twins of CVM based on MobileNetV2 within a blockchain ecosystem has been designed and implemented, showing the applicability and suitability of the introduced approach. The high performance of the proposed model on a collected small dataset demonstrates that low-cost deep learning can be used for diagnosis, anomaly detection, better design, and many more applications of the upcoming digital representations. Global concerns regarding environmental preservation and energy sustainability have emerged due to the various impacts of constantly increasing energy demands and climate changes. With advancements in smart grid, edge computing, and Metaverse-based technologies, it has become apparent that conventional private power networks are insufficient to meet the demanding requirements of industrial applications. The unique capabilities of 5G, such as numerous connections, high reliability, low latency, and large bandwidth, make it an excellent choice for smart grid services. The 5G network industry will heavily rely on the Internet of Things (IoT) to progress, which will act as a catalyst for the development of the future smart grid. This comprehensive platform will not only include communication infrastructure for smart grid edge computing, but also Metaverse platforms. Therefore, optimizing the IoT is crucial to achieve a sustainable edge computing network. This paper presents the design, fabrication, and evaluation of a super-efficient GSM triplexer for 5G-enabled IoT in sustainable smart grid edge computing and the Metaverse. This component is intended to operate at 0.815/1.58/2.65 GHz for 5G applications. The physical layout of our triplexer is new, and it is presented for the first time in this work. The overall size of our triplexer is only 0.007 λg2, which is the smallest compared to the previous works. The proposed triplexer has very low insertion losses of 0.12 dB, 0.09 dB, and 0.42 dB at the first, second, and third channels, respectively. Medical digital twins, which represent medical assets, play a crucial role in connecting the physical world to the metaverse, enabling patients to access virtual medical services and experience immersive interactions with the real world. One serious disease that can be diagnosed and treated using this technology is cancer. However, the digitalization of such diseases for use in the metaverse is a highly complex process. To address this, this study aims to use machine learning (ML) techniques to create real-time and reliable digital twins of cancer for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The study focuses on four classical ML techniques that are simple and fast for medical specialists without extensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) knowledge, and meet the requirements of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) in terms of latency and cost. The case study focuses on breast cancer (BC), the second most prevalent form of cancer worldwide. The study also presents a comprehensive conceptual framework to illustrate the process of creating digital twins of cancer, and demonstrates the feasibility and reliability of these digital twins in monitoring, diagnosing, and predicting medical parameters. Symmetry is essential in the design of complex systems like the Metaverse Transportation Sys-tem (MTS) and helps ensure that all components work together effectively. In the development of a microstrip diplexer for 5G-enabled IoT and MTS, maintaining symmetry is crucial to achieving flat responses with low group delays. By integrating transportation technology and the Metaverse, the Metaverse Transportation System (MTS) can greatly improve the effectiveness and intellect of transportation systems in reality. To establish a dependable network, it is essential to include 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) and sensor networks with a sustainable design that focuses on efficiency and energy conservation. A three-channel microstrip lowpass-bandpass diplexer has been developed for 5G-enabled IoT and MTS implementation. Multi-channel designs are rare due to the complex design process, but this diplexer is very compact at only 0.004 λg2. All channels have flat responses with group delays of 0.34 ns, 1.7 ns, and 0.34 ns at the lower, middle, and upper passbands, respectively. The lowpass channel has a cut-off frequency of 1.22 GHz, suitable for mid-band 5G applications. Compared to previous work, this diplexer achieves the smallest size, lowest group delay, and insertion and return losses at the lower channel. It consists of a lowpass-bandpass section connected to a band-pass filter analyzed mathematically, and its performance has been verified through simulation and measurement with good accuracy. Although the Metaverse is becoming a popular technology in many aspects of our lives, there are some drawbacks to its implementation on clouds, including long latency, security concerns, and centralized infrastructures. Therefore, designing scalable Metaverse platforms on the edge layer can be a practical solution. Nevertheless, the realization of these edge-powered Metaverse ecosystems without high-performance intelligent edge devices is almost impossible. Neuromorphic engineering, which employs brain-inspired cognitive architectures to implement neuromorphic chips and Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML) technologies, can be an effective tool to enhance edge devices in such emerging ecosystems. Thus, a super-efficient TinyML processor to use in the edge-enabled Metaverse platforms has been designed and evaluated in this research. This processor includes a Winner-Take-All (WTA) circuit that was implemented via a simplified Leaky Integrate and Fire (LIF) neuron on an FPGA. The WTA architecture is a computational principle in a neuromorphic system inspired by the mini-column structure in the human brain. The resource consumption of the WTA architecture is reduced by employing our simplified LIF neuron, making it suitable for the proposed edge devices. The results have indicated that the proposed neuron improves the response speed to almost 39% and reduces resource consumption by 50% compared to recent works. Using our simplified neuron, up to 4200 neurons can be deployed on VIRTEX 6 devices. The global spread of COVID-19 highlights the urgency of quickly finding drugs and vaccines and suggests that similar challenges will arise in the future. This underscores the need for ongoing efforts to overcome the obstacles involved in the development of potential treatments. Although some progress has been made in the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in drug discovery, virologists, pharmaceutical companies, and investors seek more long-term solutions and greater investment in emerging technologies. One potential solution to aid in the drug-development process is to combine the capabilities of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), edge computing (EC), and deep learning (DL). Some practical frameworks and techniques utilizing EC, IoMT, and DL have been proposed for the monitoring and tracking of infected individuals or high-risk areas. Digital twins, a product of new-generation information technology development, allows the physical world to be transformed into a virtual digital space and provide technical support for creating a Metaverse. A key factor in the success of Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution, is the integration of cyber–physical systems into machinery to enable connectivity. The digital twin is a promising solution for addressing the challenges of digitally implementing models and smart manufacturing, as it has been successfully applied for many different infrastructures. Using a digital twin for future electric drive applications can help analyze the interaction and effects between the fast-switching inverter and the electric machine, as well as the system's overall behavior. In this respect, this paper proposes using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) digital twin model to accurately estimate the states of a speed sensorless rotor field-oriented controlled induction motor (IM) drive. The accuracy of the state estimation using the EKF depends heavily on the input voltages, which are typically supplied by the inverter. In contrast to previous research that used a low-precision ideal inverter model, this study employs a high-performance EKF observer based on a practical model of the inverter that takes into account the dead-time effects and voltage drops of switching devices. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the EKF digital twinning on the IM drive system, simulations were run using the MATLAB/Simulink software (R2022a), and results are compared with a set of actual data coming from a 4 kW three-phase IM as a physical entity.
