Fault localization (FL) aims to automatically find the location of bugs in a software program. In the family of FL approaches, spectrum‐based fault localization (SBFL) is the most widely used and has been extensively studied, which computes the suspicious scores of a code element to be buggy via test coverage information. Mutation‐based fault localization (MBFL) further analyses the relationship between mutants and test results. Although MBFL involves more information, it also faces the following limitations. (1) To precisely evaluate suspicious sources, SBFL approaches proposed dozens of formulae based on coverage, while only a few of them have been adopted by MBFL. (2) The current MBFL approaches are based on the assumption that the capability in localizing bugs of each mutant is the same, so they assign the same weight to the mutants that change the test outputs and consider the mutant from the same code element equivalent. In this paper, we intend to enrich the MBFL family by the following two approaches. First, we collect 25 typical SBFL formulae and transform them into MBFL versions. Second, we propose new assumptions that the mutants should have different weights in computing suspicious sources and propose BLMu, a novel MBFL approach that treats mutants differently. We also propose novel metrics for MBFL by considering the high cost of mutation analysis. We perform large‐scale experiments by evaluating all the MBFL approaches against 395 real‐world Java bugs of the Defects4J benchmark. Our evaluation results reveal that BLMu demonstrates a substantial improvement over both MUSE and Metallaxis, the most popular MBFL approaches, at both the statement level and the method level. Specifically, in terms of Top‐1, BLMu improves by 106% at the statement level and 69% at the method level. When compared with other types of FL approaches, MBFL outperforms typical SBFL approaches while still far behind the state‐of‐the‐art learning‐based FL approaches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background Fear of falling (FoF) and physical activity (PA) are important psychological and behavioral factors associated with falls. No instrument quantifies the link between these two factors to evaluate the risk of falls. We aimed to design a scale linking FoF with PA (Composite Activities-specific Risk of Falls Scale, CARFS) for people with various disability levels. Methods First, we designed a questionnaire comprising 40 balance-related activities from the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) for a pilot survey. Second, participants were interviewed about their activities-specific FoF degree and PA frequency. The participants comprised 30 community-dwelling older adults, hospitalized patients with strokes, and those with spinal cord injuries, each with different disability levels. Third, the content validity of the items was evaluated twice by 12 experienced rehabilitation professionals: one based on experience and the other on the survey responses. Items with a higher than moderate relevance in both evaluations were included in the CARFS. The panel of professionals discussed and voted on the contribution of FoF and PA on the CARF score. Finally, the scale sensitivity in distinguishing disability levels was analyzed to evaluate the population suitability to the CARFS. Results The CARFS included 14 activities. A five-point Likert scale was used to quantify degree of FoF (A) and frequency of PA (B). The CARF score (C), which was determined using the eq. C = A+(4-B) + A × B/2, reflected sensitivity to disability levels in most items. Conclusions The CARFS has strong content validity for measuring risk of falls in relation to the FoF and PA of people with various disability levels. It has a potential to provide a guide for designing individualized exercise- and behavior-focused fall prevention programs and enable the precise trtrun 0acking of program effectiveness as a multidimensional outcome measure.

Introduction There has been considerable research on the association between smoking status and thyroid cancer risk in males, yet the findings are inconsistent. In this study, we investigated the associations of intensity, duration, cumulative dose, and age at start of smoking, with thyroid cancer in Chinese males. Methods From a 1:1 matched case–control study conducted between 2015 and 2017 in Zhejiang Province, China, 676 pairs of male subjects were included in the analysis. The associations between smoking characteristics and thyroid cancer were evaluated in logistic regression models by odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results Compared with never smokers, the former smokers were 0.096 times (95% CI: 0.012–0.778) less likely to have thyroid cancer. The significant inverse association was not observed in current smokers (OR=0.333; 95% CI: 0.084– 1.322). Among both former and current smokers, higher smoking intensity (>10 cigarettes/day), duration (>15 years), and cumulative dose of smoking (>10 packyears) were significantly associated with reduced occurrence of thyroid cancer. Conclusions Our findings indicate that former smoking is inversely associated with thyroid cancer occurrence in Chinese males. The reduction in the occurrence of thyroid cancer was also confirmed for both former and current smokers with higher smoking intensity, duration, and cumulative dose.

IntroductionThe newly developed Composite Activity-related Risk of Falls Scale (CARFS) is designed to measure composite activity-related risk of falls (CARF) in relation to the activity-specific fear of falling and physical behavior. This study tested the reliability and validity of the CARFS in older people with various health statuses and persons with stroke or spinal cord injury.MethodsParticipants included 70 older adults, 38 persons with stroke, and 18 with spinal cord injury. They were first surveyed using a combined questionnaire including the CARFS and activity-specific balance confidence (ABC) scale in addition to items asking for personal and disease-related information, fall history, walking independence levels for examining internal consistency, ceiling and floor effects, and convergent validity in each participant group. One week after the initial survey, 33 older participants were reexamined using the CARFS to analyze test-retest reliability, where a minimal detectable change was found. Significance was set at α = 0.05 for all analyses.ResultsThe CARFS showed excellent test-retest reliability in the dimensions of fear of falling, physical behavior, and CARF [ICC (3,1) = 0.972, 0.994, and 0.994, respectively for their overall score], with a minimal detectable change of 3.944 in the older population. The internal consistency of CARFS items was excellent in the older participants, good in participants with stroke or spinal cord injury (Cronbach's alpha = 0.945, 0.843, 0.831 in each participant group, respectively). No ceiling and floor effects were demonstrated in the wide range of people. For the convergent validity, overall CARF score was significantly correlated with the average ABC score in each participant group (rho = −0.824, −0.761, and −0.601, respectively; p < 0.01), and was significantly correlated with walking independence levels in each participant group (rho = −0.636, −0.423, and −0.522, respectively; p < 0.01). It showed weak correlation with the number of previous falls only in participants with stroke (rho = 0.291, p = 0.076).ConclusionThe CARFS is a reliable and valid tool for measuring fall risk in older people and persons with stroke or spinal cord injury.

Unfair behaviors of Machine Learning (ML) software have garnered increasing attention and concern among software engineers. To tackle this issue, extensive research has been dedicated to conducting fairness testing of ML software, and this article offers a comprehensive survey of existing studies in this field. We collect 100 papers and organize them based on the testing workflow (i.e., how to test) and testing components (i.e., what to test). Furthermore, we analyze the research focus, trends, and promising directions in the realm of fairness testing. We also identify widely adopted datasets and open-source tools for fairness testing. Aim: This systematic literature review with meta‐analysis aimed to determine the effect of omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids on prostaglandin levels and pain severity in women with dysmenorrhoea and identify adverse side effects. Methods: A literature search was conducted in Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, MEDLINE complete, CINAHL and AMED databases (PROSPERO CRD42022340371). Included studies provided omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids compared to a control in women with dysmenorrhoea and reported pain and/or prostaglandin levels. A random effects meta‐analysis with Cohen's d effect size (95% confidence interval) was performed in SPPS for studies that reported pain outcomes. Study quality was assessed using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Quality Criteria Checklist. Results: Twelve studies (n = 881 dysmenorrhoeal women) of predominantly neutral quality (83%) were included that provided daily supplementation of 300–1800 mg omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids over 2 or 3 months. Meta‐analysis (n = 8 studies) showed a large effect of omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (d = −1.020, 95% confidence interval −1.53 to −0.51) at reducing dysmenorrhoea pain. No studies measured prostaglandin levels, 86% of studies measuring analgesic use showed a reduction with omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids and few studies reported mild adverse side effects in individual participants. Conclusions: Findings suggest that daily supplementation of 300–1800 mg omega‐3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids over 2–3 months are generally well tolerated and reduces pain and analgesic use in women with dysmenorrhoea. Software bias is an increasingly important operational concern for software engineers. We present a largescale, comprehensive empirical study of 17 representative bias mitigation methods for Machine Learning (ML) classifiers, evaluated with 11 ML performance metrics (e.g., accuracy), 4 fairness metrics, and 20 types of fairness-performance tradeoff assessment, applied to 8 widely-adopted software decision tasks. The empirical coverage is much more comprehensive, covering the largest numbers of bias mitigation methods, evaluation metrics, and fairness-performance tradeoff measures compared to previous work on this important software property. We find that (1) the bias mitigation methods significantly decrease ML performance in 53% of the studied scenarios (ranging between 42%∼66% according to different ML performance metrics); (2) the bias mitigation methods significantly improve fairness measured by the 4 used metrics in 46% of all the scenarios (ranging between 24%∼59% according to different fairness metrics); (3) the bias mitigation methods even lead to decrease in both fairness and ML performance in 25% of the scenarios; (4) the effectiveness of the bias mitigation methods depends on tasks, models, the choice of protected attributes, and the set of metrics used to assess fairness and ML performance; (5) there is no bias mitigation method that can achieve the best tradeoff in all the scenarios. The best method that we find outperforms other methods in 30% of the scenarios. Machine learning (ML) models are increasingly being incorporated into innovative new products and services. Because ML systems have emergent properties with effects that can only be fully understood by considering the system as a whole, quality assurance and testing present particular challenges. It is less obvious how to break the system into smaller components that can be tested as units, in isolation; meaning testing challenges tend to migrate from the unit level to the integration and system level. Quality professionals need to begin developing conceptual models to better plan and execute tests on ML systems. This article, drawn from the academic research of the authors, establishes conceptual models for ML testing and presents an overview of techniques for testing these novel systems based on a literature review. Sudden cardiac death (SCD) remains an unsolved problem in the twenty-first century. It is often due to rapid onset, ventricular arrhythmias caused by a number of different clinical conditions. A proportion of SCD patients have identifiable diseases such as cardiomyopathies, but for others, the causes are unknown. Viral myocarditis is becoming increasingly recognized as a contributor to unexplained mortality, and is thought to be a major cause of SCD in the first two decades of life. Myocardial inflammation, ion channel dysfunction, electrophysiological, and structural remodeling may play important roles in generating life-threatening arrhythmias. The aim of this review article is to examine the electrophysiology of action potential conduction and repolarization and the mechanisms by which their derangements lead to triggered and reentrant arrhythmogenesis. By synthesizing experimental evidence from pre-clinical and clinical studies, a framework of how host (inflammation), and viral (altered cellular signaling) factors can induce ion electrophysiological and structural remodeling is illustrated. Current pharmacological options are mainly supportive, which may be accompanied by mechanical circulatory support. Heart transplantation is the only curative option in the worst case scenario. Aim: To evaluate whether parametric imaging with contrast-enhanced ultrasound is an approach capable of for the differential diagnosis of ovarian masses. Materials and Methods: The authors analysed 50 cases of ovarian masses by routine ultrasound and contrastenhanced ultrasound with a new dedicated parametric image processing software--Sonoliver. The angiogenesis and blood perfusion mode on a digital video recorder were recorded and the morphological characteristics of time-intensity curve (TIC) and dynamic vascular pattern (DVP) curve were subsequently described. The quantity factor, including time to peak (TTP), maximum intensity (IMAX), rise time, (RT), mean transit time (mTT), generated by Sonoliver software were compared in both histological gradings. Results: There were 24 cases (86%) displaying mainly hypo-enhanced with blue imaging in those with benign masses and 15 cases (68%) displaying mainly hyper-enhanced imaging with red in those with malignant masses. The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). DVP curves were unipolar below the baseline in 23 cases (82%) of benign masses and unipolar above the baseline in 15 cases (68%) of malignant masses. IMAX, TTP, and mTT were all significantly higher in those with malignant masses than those with benign ones (all p < 0.05), but, no statistical difference in the RT between the two groups was found (p > 0.05). Conclusions: According to the results, DVP parametric imaging is a new approach capable of differential diagnoses of overian masses with contrast-enhanced ultrasound. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The practical and symbolic significance of the sun and the moon was coded for a world sample of societies. Methods included use of the eHRAF World Cultures (hereafter eHRAF) Word Search function and the coding of relevant eHRAF materials. The sun, objectively of greater importance than the moon for many aspects of human existence, was expected to be ethnographically more prominent than the moon, and this was found in 55 of 60 cases. There was also a strong tendency for ethnographic mentions of the moon to be made in connection with magico-religious ideas, whereas statements about the sun tended to be more equally divided between the magico-religious and techno-econo-environmental domains. In exploratory investigation, it was found that both sun and moon were frequently mentioned in the ethnographies of foraging societies, which in turn were found to be at the low end of a scale of cultural complexity. To reduce the area of an X-ray sensor, a Doppler/XNAV (X-ray pulsar-based navigation)-integrated navigation system is proposed. The Doppler navigation, which utilises the radial velocity relative to the Sun as the measurement information, can provide highly accurate velocity information. However, this method is completely unobservable, and cannot be used to navigate alone. The XNAV system utilising three or more pulsars is completely observable, but its navigation accuracy is low when the area of the X-ray sensor is small. As two methods are complementary to each other, a federated filter is utilised here to fuse the information from the XNAV and the Doppler navigation subsystems. As both the state and the measurement equations of two methods are non-linear, the UKF (Unscented Kalman Filter) is used as the local filters of the federated filter. Compared with XNAV, this integrated navigation method can provide better navigation performance. The simulation results demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of this navigation method with a small-area X-ray sensor. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A method of forming limit prediction for sheet metals at high temperatures and under nonproportional loading is presented. The method takes into account the strain-softening behaviors of the material at elevated temperatures. A localized necking criterion based on an isotropic damage-coupled acoustic tensor is developed and employed to determine the forming limits of strain-softening materials. The damage evolution equation is developed within the thermo-mechanical framework. A closed-form expression of the forming limit strains is derived by coupling the damage evolution equation into the localized necking criterion. A computer program, incorporating the incremental theory of plasticity, the damage evolution equation and the localized necking criterion, is developed to compute the forming limit strains under several nonproportional loading paths. A series of the uniaxial tensile tests is performed to measure the relevant mechanical properties of AA6061 at the elevated temperature of 450°C. The material damage variables are determined from the measured elastic modulii from a series of loading and unloading paths. The damage evolution equation of AA6061 at 450°C is formulated based on the test data. The computed limit strains are compared with the test results under various loading paths and a good agreement is observed. It is found that the critical damage value is independent on the stress states and loading paths. It may be concluded that the application of the material damage as a reliable criterion of localized necking including the nonproportional loading cases. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

This article presents a review of the sheet metal formability analysis based on the theory of damage mechanics. Specifically, the damage anisotropy is considered. Forming limit analyses based on the anisotropic damage are summarized, including the accumulative critical damage method, the damage-coupled vertex theory and the damage-coupled acoustic tensor method. The accumulative critical damage method postulates that the critical damage at the localized necking is strain-path or loading history independent. It can be applied to predict the forming limit diagrams under either proportional or nonproportional loading. The vertex theory considers that localized necking is associated with the vertex developed on yield surface. The theory is applicable to engineering materials exhibiting the strain-hardening and/or strain-rate dependent behaviors. The acoustic tensor method, on the other hand, can only be applied to the strain-softening materials, which are often observed in warm/hot sheet metal forming or hydroforming. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Sec-dependent translocation pathway that involves the essential SecA protein and the membrane-bound SecYEG translocon is used to export many proteins across the cytoplasmic membrane. Recently, several pathogenic bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, were shown to possess two SecA homologs, SecA1 and SecA2. SecA1 is essential for general protein export. SecA2 is specific for a subset of exported proteins and is important for M. tuberculosis virulence. The enzymatic activities of two SecA proteins from the same microorganism have not been defined for any bacteria. Here, M. tuberculosis SecA1 and SecA2 are shown to bind ATP with high affinity, though the affinity of SecA1 for ATP is weaker than that of SecA2 or Escherichia coli SecA. Amino acid substitution of arginine or alanine for the conserved lysine in the Walker A motif of SecA2 eliminated ATP binding. We used the SecA2(K115R) variant to show that ATP binding was necessary for the SecA2 function of promoting intracellular growth of M. tuberculosis in macrophages. Forming limits of stainless steel tailor-welded blanks (TWBs) are investigated through both testing and numerical simulation. Limit dome height (LDH) tests were performed for 1.2/1.0 mm TWBs with 0°, 90°, 45° weldment orientations and various blank widths. Numerical simulation of the LDH test was conducted with LSDYNA. Since TWB is, in reality, a structure, the forming limits of TWBs in terms of the LDH and failure location should be characterized rather than the conventional forming limit diagrams (FLDs). A localized necking criterion based on the vertex theory was employed to identify the failure sites of TWBs. The localized necking criterion was compiled into a computer program, which processed the output data from LSDYNA. The LDHs and failure locations were computed for various combinations of blank thickness and weldment orientation. The predicted LDH and failure locations were compared with the test results and found to be satisfactory. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
