Corrosion poses a significant threat to the longevity and integrity of metallic structures, leading to substantial economic losses globally. Traditional corrosion protection methods often have drawbacks, such as increased thickness, altered physical properties, and environmental concerns. In recent years, superhydrophobic coatings have emerged as promising solutions for corrosion protection due to their exceptional water-repellent properties. This research investigates hydrophobicity and corrosion resistance enhancement in eco-friendly copper-coated aluminium through further modification with polypropylene/myristic acid (PP/MA). Electrodeposition of copper on aluminium substrate resulted in a distinctive rose flower-like micro-order rough structure, elevating the contact angle from 58° to 140° (highly hydrophobic) when voltage varying up to 10 V, with the highest hydrophobicity observed at 8 V. Subsequent modification with PP/MA (4:1) further increased the contact angle to 148° (superhydrophobic) and reduced the surface energy, enhancing hydrophobicity. Measurements of corrosion resistance exhibited substantial enhancements, with anti-corrosion efficiency achieving 99%, polarisation resistance at 91200 Ω cm2, and a minimal corrosion rate of 0.000132 mm/year. The enhanced corrosion resistance is due to the rough structure, which reduces electrolyte contact and minimises the surface area exposed to the electrolyte. The stability studies demonstrated that the altered superhydrophobic coating retained a contact angle exceeding 120° even when subjected to severe conditions such as elevated temperatures (up to 180 °C), high pressure, and a 52-day submersion in a 3.5% NaCl solution. The stability of polypropylene is due to the presence of strong metallic and coordination bonds, as well as the inertness and strength of the material itself. These results indicate that the modified coating producing long-lasting hydrophobic and corrosion-resistant characteristics, making it suitable for various industrial applications.

Traditional corrosion prevention methods have limitations, such as high costs and limited effectiveness. Nanostructured superhydrophobic coatings (SH) have emerged as promising solutions due to their effectiveness in preventing corrosion and diverse industrial applications. These coatings leverage low surface energy and high surface roughness to create micro air pockets, reducing contact with corrosive media and water droplets, thus enhancing corrosion resistance. This review discusses recent advancements in physical and chemical techniques for producing corrosion-resistant SH coatings on copper substrates and their compatibility with other metals while maintaining stability. Researchers have explored various surface morphologies, textures, and energies to impede corrosion effectively. The paper emphasizes the novelty of these developments, highlighting both limitations and potential future directions for SH coatings.

Purpose – This study aims to meticulously evaluate the public service value-generation process facilitated by collaborative e-governance services within the framework of the National e-governance Plan (NeGP). Design/methodology/approach – The study formulates a comprehensive research model through a combination of literature review, insights from domain experts and hands-on experience gained from the e-governance project. A conceptual research model was meticulously structured, validated, and interpreted by using a reflective measurement theory. The analytical tool SmartPLS3 was used to assess the proposed model rigorously. Findings – The analysis of collected data reveals a statistically significant positive correlation between the implementation of collaborative e-governance strategies and the creation of public service value. This relationship is further reinforced by a strong alignment between the perceived aspects of collaborative e-governance, such as responsiveness, transparency and service delivery and their substantial contribution to the enhancement of public service value. Originality/value – This study contributes to the scholarly discourse by introducing an innovative methodology for assessing public service value through analyzing empirical data from citizen-centric collaborative e-governance projects. It is noteworthy that no prior studies have examined the nuanced concept of public service value in the context of collaborative e-governance.

Cyanobacteria, the major photosynthetic organisms, cover a large surface area of this planet. These organisms, being photosynthetic, have the capacity for sequestration of atmospheric carbon dioxide, a significant greenhouse gas that causes global warming. In this work, we have collected, developed pure culture, and identified 25 cyanobacterial species from semi arid agricultural rice fields of western Odisha with the high-temperature environmental setting. The purpose was to screen the cyanobacteria that can survive and grow at high temperatures with high photosynthetic efficiency. Cyanobacteria belong to genera Nostoc, Anabaena, Calothrix, and Hapalosiphon are observed to survive at 45°C. Among the cyanobacterial species, Anabaena iyengarii 17-SKD-2014 was found to exhibit higher growth, protein content, photosynthetic pigments, and photosynthetic O2 evolution at 45°C in comparison to other cyanobacterial isolates. Further, this cyanobacterium was grown at 50°C to analyze the cellular viability, and only up to ninth day incubated culture could recover from high-temperature stress after transferring to 25°C. Even though this indigenous cyanobacterial species failed to survive at 50°C in the laboratory conditions beyond a time limit, but this could be biotechnologically manipulated for effective carbon dioxide sequestration contributing to minimization of global warming.

Microbial inhibition of carboxymethyl dextran (CMD) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) was investigated on two different bacterial cultures, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, where inhibition properties of CMD-MNPs were confirmed, while uncoated MNPs exhibited no inhibition properties. To such CMD-MNPs, enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) from Saccharomyces cerevisiae was immobilized. Later on, CMD-MNPs were functionalized, using an epoxide cross-linker epichlorohydrin (EClH) for another option of ADH immobilization. Residual activities of immobilized ADH onto epoxy functionalized and non-functionalized CMD-MNPs were determined. Effect of cross-linker concentration, temperature of immobilization and enzyme concentration on residual activities of immobilized ADH were determined, as well. With optimal process conditions (4% (v/v) EClH, 4 °C and 0.02 mg/mL of ADH), residual activity of immobilized ADH was 90%. Such immobilized ADH was characterized using FT-IR, SEM and DLS analysis.
