Abstract

The article refers to an oral presentations focusing on cancer--its causes and therapy. Radioimmunotherapy has emerged as an effective therapy for B cell lymphomas. There is however uncertainty whether myeloablative or lower radiation doses should be used. Histone deacetylation has a central role in the control of gene expression, including transcriptional repression of tumor suppressor genes. Treatment of tumor cells with inhibitors of the enzyme histone deacetylase results in gene activation, growth suppression and induction of differentiation or apoptosis.
