Security is a critical element for IoT deployment and it affects the adoption rate of smart nation applications. This paper presents a Cross-Layer Security Authentication Architecture that enhances the security of end-to-end communication for IoT nodes. The authentication architecture combines user-definable parameters, information from user identity, the physical, network and application layers to generate an encrypted unique authentication key that is embedded in each IoT device. Experimental tests were performed and field tests results for three smart nation applications, namely manufacturing, eHealth monitoring@Home and an integrated social and sensing solution using Vehicle-to-Anything (V2X) network are presented.

This paper introduces a multi-factors security key generation mechanism for self-organising Internet of Things (IoT) network and nodes. The mechanism enables users to generate unique set of security keys to enhance IoT security while meeting various business needs. The multi-factor security keys presents an additional security layer to existing security standards and practices currently being adopted by the IoT community. The proposed security key generation mechanism enables user to define and choose any physical and logical parameters he/she prefers, in generating a set of security keys to be encrypted and distributed to registered IoT nodes. IoT applications and services will only be activated after verifying that all security keys are present. Multiple levels of authorisation for different user groups can be easily created through the mix and match of the generated multi-factors security keys. A use case, covering indoor and outdoor field tests was conducted. The results of the tests showed that the mechanism is easily adaptable to meet diverse multi-vendor IoT devices and is scalable for various applications.

This paper introduces a scalable secured network and device architecture that enhances IoT devices’ security to reduce the risk of them from becoming a target of attacks. The proposed network and device architecture combines user-definable parameters, information from the physical, network and application layers to generate an encrypted unique identification key to be embedded in the IoT devices. The network architecture uses a WiFi ad-hoc mode that enables the IoT devices to authenticate among themselves during the initial network formation. The IoT devices are only allowed to join an autonomous IoT network if the devices are running the users’ pre-agreed application(s), in the list of permitted devices, and have an unique identification. Both indoor and outdoor field tests were conducted. The results of the field tests showed that the proposed network and device architecture is scalable and is suitable to be deployed for IoT.

In this paper, we present a contour based path planner for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).We make use of efficient algorithm to compute a stealthy path line with desired attributes in radar prone environments. The algorithm is employed to estimate the risk cost of the navigational space and generate an optimized path based on the user-specified threshold altitude value. Thus the generated path is represented with a set of low-radar risk waypoints being the coordinates of its control points. The offline path planner is then approximated using cubic B-splines by considering the least radar risk to the destination. Simulated results are presented, illustrating the potential benefits of such algorithms.
