The aim of the study was to evaluate the outcomes of transcatheter closure of secundum atrial septal defects (ASDs) in elderly patients.Patients and methods: From a total of 488 patients with ASDs who underwent transcatheter closure, 75 patients aged over 60 years (45 female, 30 male) with a mean age of 65.3±15.7 (60–75) years were analyzed. All patients had an isolated secundum ASD with a mean pulmonary blood flow:systemic blood flow of 2.84±1.9 (1.5–3.9). Symptom-limited treadmill exercise tests with respiratory gas-exchange analysis and transthoracic color Doppler echocardiographic study, as well as quality of life measured using the Short Form (36) Health Survey (SF-36) were repeated in all patients before the procedure and after 12 months of follow-up.Results: The atrial septal device was successfully implanted in all patients (procedure time 37.7±4.5 [13–59] minutes, fluoroscopy time 11.2±9.9 [6–40] minutes). There were no major complications. The defect echo diameter was 17.7±15.8 (12–30) mm. The mean balloon-stretched diameter of ASDs was 22.4±7.9 (14–34) mm. The diameter of the implanted devices ranged from 16 to 34 mm. Significant improvement of exercise capacity was noted at 6 and 12 months after the procedure. Abstract

Virtual reality is a modern information technology consisting in a computer creation of an image which presents scenes with the participation of objects with the possibility of their movements in virtual space and interaction. The basis of the scene is a mathematical and/or physical model. If the observer can influence the observed scene, then the observation turns into a computer game. A force plate measures the position of the resultant pressure force on the feet (COP) of a person standing on the platform and thus evaluates the involuntary and voluntary swaying of the body, which is constantly losing and regaining its balance. A visual-motor feedback has been used in posturographic research by linking the movements of the COP of a person standing on a force plate with a movement of a virtual marker on the screen against the background of simple geometric figures. Thus, the patient is playing a computer game for which the location of the COP is the information input. The patient's task is to lean forward according to the virtual image of the geometric figure on the screen and maintain the COP marker in the given field for a few seconds. The force of inertia gives the moment of a force about the axis of rotation at the support point of the force plate. Thus, the COP is influenced by inertia forces which results in spurious COP movements at vigorous or abrupt deflections. A piece of Python software has been developed to assess the magnitude of the influence of inertia forces. The model assumes specifying the projection of the centre of gravity (COG) point at the location of the computer mouse instead. 12. Data Rate Assessment on L2-L3 CPU Bus and Bus between CPU and RAM in Modern CPUs.

Abstract

In this paper, modern CPU architecture with several different cache levels is described and current CPU performance limitations such as frequency increase bounds are discussed. As changes to the currently existing architecture are usually proposed as a way of increasing CPU performance, data rates of the internal and external CPU interfaces must be known. This information would help to assess the applicability of proposed solutions and to optimize them. This paper is aimed at obtaining real values of traffic on an L2-L3 cache interface inside a CPU and a CPU-RAM bus load, as well as showing the dependences of the total traffic on the studied interfaces on the number of active cores, CPU frequency, and test type. A measurement methodology using an Intel Performance Counter Monitor is provided and the equations used to obtain data rates from the internal CPU counters are explained. Both real-life and synthetic tests are described. The dependence of total traffic on the number of active cores and the dependence of total traffic on CPU frequency are provided as plots. The dependence of total traffic on test type is provided as a bar plot for multiple CPU frequencies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
