Matlis duality for modules over commutative rings gives rise to the notion of Matlis reflexivity. It is shown that Matlis reflexive modules form a Krull-Schmidt category. For noetherian rings the absence of infinite direct sums is a characteristic feature of Matlis reflexivity. This leads to a discussion of objects that are extensions of artinian by noetherian objects. Classifications of Matlis reflexive modules are provided for some small examples., Comment: 12 pages. This work concerns the stable module category of a finite group over a field of characteristic dividing the group order. The minimal localising tensor ideals correspond to the non-maximal homogeneous prime ideals in the cohomology ring of the group. Given such a prime ideal, a number of characterisations of the dualisable objects in the corresponding tensor ideal are given. One characterisation of interest is that they are exactly the modules whose restriction along a corresponding $\pi$-point are finite dimensional plus projective. A key insight is the identification of a special property of the stable module category that controls the cohomological behaviour of local dualisable objects. This property, introduced in this work for general triangulated categories and called local regularity, is related to strong generation. A major part of the paper is devoted to developing this notion and investigating its ramifications for various special classes of objects in tensor triangulated categories., Comment: 34 pages

For an abelian category and a distinguished object with a graded endomorphism ring a necessary and sufficient criterion is given so that the category is equivalent to the abelian quotient of the category of finitely presented graded modules modulo the Serre subcategory of finite length modules. A particular example is the category of coherent sheaves on a projective variety, following a theorem of Serre from 1955. The proof uses Auslander's theory of coherent functors, and there are no noetherianess assumptions. This work concerns representations of a finite flat group scheme $G$, defined over a noetherian commutative ring $R$. The focus is on lattices, namely, finitely generated $G$-modules that are projective as $R$-modules, and on the full subcategory of all $G$-modules projective over $R$ generated by the lattices. The stable category of such $G$-modules is a rigidly-compactly generated, tensor triangulated category. The main result is that this stable category is stratified and costratified by the natural action of the cohomology ring of $G$. Applications include formulas for computing the support and cosupport of tensor products and the module of homomorphisms, and a classification of the thick ideals in the stable category of lattices., Comment: 35 pages. The notion of support provides an analogue of Stone duality, relating lattices to topological spaces. This note aims to explain in lattice theoretic terms what has been developed in the context of triangulated categories. In particular, the parallel between support via closed and open sets is addressed in terms of Hochster duality. We discuss dualisable objects in minimal subcategories of compactly generated tensor triangulated categories, paying special attention to the derived category of a commutative noetherian ring. For any essentially small triangulated category the centre of its lattice of thick subcategories is introduced; it is a spatial frame and yields a notion of central support. A relative version of this centre recovers the support theory for tensor triangulated categories and provides a universal notion of cohomological support. Given a finite cocommutative Hopf algebra $A$ over a commutative regular ring $R$, the lattice of localising tensor ideals of the stable category of Gorenstein projective $A$-modules is described in terms of the corresponding lattices for the fibres of $A$ over the spectrum of $R$. Under certain natural conditions on the cohomology of $A$ over $R$, this yields a stratification of the stable category. These results apply when $A$ is the group algebra over $R$ of a finite group, and also when $A$ is the exterior algebra on a finite free $R$-module., Comment: 26 pages. For a tensor triangulated category and any regular cardinal $\alpha$ we study the frame of $\alpha$-localizing tensor ideals and its associated space of points. For a well-generated category and its frame of localizing tensor ideals we provide conditions such that the associated space is obtained by refining the topology of the corresponding space for the triangulated subcategory of $\alpha$-compact objects. This is illustrated by several known examples for $\alpha=\aleph_0$, and new spaces arise for $\alpha>\aleph_0$., Comment: 20 pages. Revisions. We survey some methods developed in a series of papers, for classifying localising subcategories of tensor triangulated categories. We illustrate these methods by proving a new theorem, providing such a classification in the case of the stable module category of a unipotent finite supergroup scheme.

Duality properties are studied for a Gorenstein algebra that is finite and projective over its center. Using the homotopy category of injective modules, it is proved that there is a local duality theorem for the subcategory of acyclic complexes of such an algebra, akin to the local duality theorems of Grothendieck and Serre in the context of commutative algebra and algebraic geometry. We develop a support theory for elementary supergroup schemes, over a field of positive characteristic $p\ge 3$, starting with a definition of a $\pi$-point generalising cyclic shifted subgroups of Carlson for elementary abelian groups and $\pi$-points of Friedlander and Pevtsova for finite group schemes. These are defined in terms of maps from the graded algebra $k[t,\tau]/(t^p-\tau^2)$, where $t$ has even degree and $\tau$ has odd degree. The strength of the theory is demonstrated by classifying the parity change invariant localising subcategories of the stable module category of an elementary supergroup scheme., Comment: 25 pages

A duality theorem for the singularity category of a finite dimensional Gorenstein algebra is proved. It complements a duality on the category of perfect complexes, discovered by Happel. One of its consequences is an analogue of Serre duality, and the existence of Auslander-Reiten triangles for the $\mathfrak{p}$-local and $\mathfrak{p}$-torsion subcategories of the derived category, for each homogeneous prime ideal $\mathfrak{p}$ arising from the action of a commutative ring via Hochschild cohomology., Comment: 19 pages

Non-crossing partitions have been a staple in combinatorics for quite some time. More recently, they have surfaced (sometimes unexpectedly) in various other contexts from free probability to classifying spaces of braid groups. Also, analogues of the non-crossing partition lattice have been introduced. Here, the classical non-crossing partitions are associated to Coxeter and Artin groups of type $\mathsf{A}_n$, which explains the tight connection to the symmetric groups and braid groups. This work concerns the representation theory and cohomology of a finite unipotent supergroup scheme $G$ over a perfect field $k$ of positive characteristic $p\ge 3$. It is proved that an element $x$ in the cohomology of $G$ is nilpotent if and only if for every extension field $K$ of $k$ and every elementary sub-supergroup scheme $E\subseteq G_K$, the restriction of $x_K$ to $E$ is nilpotent. It is also shown that a $kG$-module $M$ is projective if and only if for every extension field $K$ of $k$ and every elementary sub-supergroup scheme $E\subseteq G_K$, the restriction of $M_K$ to $E$ is projective. The statements are motivated by, and are analogues of, similar results for finite groups and finite group schemes, but the structure of elementary supergroups schemes necessary for detection is more complicated than in either of these cases. This note proposes a new method to complete a triangulated category, which is based on the notion of a Cauchy sequence. We apply this to categories of perfect complexes. It is shown that the bounded derived category of finitely presented modules over a right coherent ring is the completion of the category of perfect complexes. The result extends to non-affine noetherian schemes and gives rise to a direct construction of the singularity category. The parallel theory of completion for abelian categories is compatible with the completion of derived categories. There are three appendices. The first one by Tobias Barthel discusses the completion of perfect complexes for ring spectra. The second one by Tobias Barthel and Henning Krause refines for a separated noetherian scheme the description of the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves as a completion. We provide an axiomatic approach for studying support varieties of objects in a triangulated category via the action of a tensor triangulated category, where the tensor product is not necessarily symmetric. This is illustrated by examples, taken in particular from representation theory of finite dimensional algebras.

Auslander-Reiten duality for module categories is generalised to Grothendieck abelian categories that have a sufficient supply of finitely presented objects. It is shown that Auslander-Reiten duality amounts to the fact that the functor Ext^1(C,-) into modules over the endomorphism ring of C admits a partially defined right adjoint when C is a finitely presented object. This result seems to be new even for module categories. For appropriate schemes over a field, the connection with Serre duality is discussed., Comment: 16 pages

For a finite group scheme, the subadditive functions on finite dimensional representations are studied. It is shown that the projective variety of the cohomology ring can be recovered from the equivalence classes of subadditive functions. Using Crawley-Boevey's correspondence between subadditive functions and endofinite modules, we obtain an equivalence relation on the set of point modules introduced in our joint work with Iyengar and Pevtsova. This corresponds to the equivalence relation on pi-points introduced by Friedlander and Pevtsova., Comment: 6 pages

The Hom closed colocalising subcategories of the stable module category of a finite group scheme are classified. This complements the classification of the tensor closed localising subcategories in our previous work. Both classifications involve pi-points in the sense of Friedlander and Pevtsova. Krull-Schmidt categories are additive categories such that each object decomposes into a finite direct sum of indecomposable objects having local endomorphism rings. We provide a self-contained introduction which is based on the concept of a projective cover.

Auslander's formula shows that any abelian category C is equivalent to the category of coherent functors on C modulo the Serre subcategory of all effaceable functors. We establish a derived version of this equivalence. This amounts to showing that the homotopy category of injective objects of some appropriate Grothendieck abelian category (the category of ind-objects of C) is compactly generated and that the full subcategory of compact objects is equivalent to the bounded derived category of C. The same approach shows for an arbitrary Grothendieck abelian category that its derived category and the homotopy category of injective objects are well-generated triangulated categories. Highest weight categories are described in terms of standard objects and recollements of abelian categories, working over an arbitrary commutative base ring. Then the highest weight structure for categories of strict polynomial functors is explained, using the theory of Schur and Weyl functors.
