The CO-dark molecular gas (DMG), which refers to the molecular gas not traced by CO emission, is crucial for the evolution of the interstellar medium (ISM). While the gas properties of DMG have been widely explored in the Solar neighborhood, whether or not they are similar in the outer disk regions of the Milky Way is still not well understood. In this Letter, we confirm the existence of DMG toward a cold HI arc structure at 13 kpc away from the Galactic center with both OH emission and HI narrow self-absorption (HINSA). This is the first detection of HINSA in the outer disk region, in which the HINSA fraction ($N_{\rm HINSA}$/$N_{\rm H_2}$ = 0.022$\pm$0.011) is an order of magnitude higher than the average value observed in nearby evolved dark clouds, but is consistent with that of the early evolutionary stage of dark clouds. The inferred H$_2$ column density from both extinction and OH emission ($N_{\rm H_2} \approx 10^{20}$ cm$^{-2}$) is an order of magnitude higher than previously estimated. Although the ISM environmental parameters are expected to be different between the outer Galactic disk regions and the Solar neighborhood, we find that the visual extinction ($A_{\rm V}$ = 0.19$\pm$0.03 mag), H$_2$-gas density ($n_{\rm H_2} = 91\pm46$ cm$^{-3}$), and molecular fraction (58\%$\pm$28\%) of the DMG are rather similar to those of nearby diffuse molecular clouds. Abbreviation. Thermal diffusion is one of the basic processes for the mobility and formation of species on cosmic dust grains. Recent laboratory measurements have found that the diffusion pre-exponential factor can differ from that for desorption by several orders of magnitude. We aim to evaluate the effect of the newly experimentally measured diffusion pre-exponential factor on the chemistry under cold molecular cloud conditions. We found that statistically, more than half of the total gas-phase and grain surface species are not affected by the new pre-exponential factor after a chemical evolution of 10$^5$ yr. The most abundant gas-phase CO and grain surface water ice are not affected by the new pre-exponential factor. For the grain surface species that are affected, compared to the commonly adopted value of the pre-exponential factor for diffusion used in the chemical models, they could be either overproduced or underproduced with the lower diffusion pre-factor used in this work. The former case applies to radicals and the species that serve as reactants, while the latter case applies to complex organic molecules (COMs) on the grain and the species that rarely react with other species. Gas-phase species could also be affected due to the desorption of the grain surface species. The abundance of some gas-phase COMs could be varied by over one order of magnitude depending on the adopted grain surface temperature and/or the ratio of diffusion to desorption energy in the model. Key species whose diffusion pre-exponential factor significantly affects the model predictions were also evaluated, and these specie include CH3OH, H2CO, and NO. Globular clusters harbor numerous millisecond pulsars, but long-period pulsars ($P \gtrsim 100$ ms) are rarely found. In this study, we employed a fast folding algorithm to analyze observational data from multiple globular clusters obtained by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST), aiming to detect the existence of long-period pulsars. We estimated the impact of the median filtering algorithm in eliminating red noise on the minimum detectable flux density ($S_{\rm min}$) of pulsars. Subsequently, we successfully discovered two isolated long-period pulsars in M15 with periods approximately equal to 1.928451 seconds and 3.960716 seconds, respectively. On the $P-\dot{P}$ diagram, both pulsars are positioned below the spin-up line, suggesting a possible history of partial recycling in X-ray binary systems disrupted by dynamical encounters later on. According to timing results, these two pulsars exhibit remarkably strong magnetic fields. Radio emission from magnetars provides a unique probe of the relativistic, magnetized plasma within the near-field environment of these ultra-magnetic neutron stars. The transmitted waves can undergo birefringent and dispersive propagation effects that result in frequency-dependent conversions of linear to circularly polarized radiation and vice-versa, thus necessitating classification when relating the measured polarization to the intrinsic properties of neutron star and fast radio burst (FRB) emission sites. We report the detection of such behavior in 0.7-4 GHz observations of the P = 5.54 s radio magnetar XTE J1810$-$197 following its 2018 outburst. The phenomenon is restricted to a narrow range of pulse phase centered around the magnetic meridian. Its temporal evolution is closely coupled to large-scale variations in magnetic topology that originate from either plastic motion of an active region on the magnetar surface or free precession of the neutron star crust. Our model of the effect deviates from simple theoretical expectations for radio waves propagating through a magnetized plasma. Birefringent self-coupling between the transmitted wave modes, line-of-sight variations in the magnetic field direction and differences in particle charge or energy distributions above the magnetic pole are explored as possible explanations. We present a forecast of the cosmological parameter estimation using fast radio bursts (FRBs) from the upcoming Square Kilometre Array (SKA), focusing on the issues of dark energy, the Hubble constant, and baryon density. We simulate $10^5$ and $10^6$ localized FRBs from a 10-year SKA observation, and find that: (i) using $10^6$ FRB data alone can tightly constrain dark-energy equation of state parameters better than CMB+BAO+SNe, providing an independent cosmological probe to explore dark energy; (ii) combining the FRB data with gravitational-wave standard siren data from 10-year observation with the Einstein Telescope, the Hubble constant can be constrained to a sub-percent level, serving as a powerful low-redshift probe; (iii) using $10^6$ FRB data can constrain the baryon density $\Omega_{\rm b}h$ to a precision of $\sim 0.1\%$. The origin of fast radio bursts (FRBs), the brightest cosmic explosion in radio bands, remains unknown. We introduce here a novel method for a comprehensive analysis of active FRBs' behaviors in the time-energy domain. Using ``Pincus Index'' and ``Maximum Lyapunov Exponent'', we were able to quantify the randomness and chaoticity, respectively, of the bursting events and put FRBs in the context of common transient physical phenomena, such as pulsar, earthquakes, and solar flares. In the bivariate time-energy domain, repeated FRB bursts' behaviors deviate significantly (more random, less chaotic) from pulsars, earthquakes, and solar flares. The waiting times between FRB bursts and the corresponding energy changes exhibit no correlation and remain unpredictable, suggesting that the emission of FRBs does not exhibit the time and energy clustering observed in seismic events. The pronounced stochasticity may arise from a singular source with high entropy or the combination of diverse emission mechanisms/sites. We present the interstellar scintillation analysis of fast radio burst (FRB) 20220912A during its extremely active episode in 2022 using data from the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST). We detect a scintillation arc in the FRB's secondary spectrum, which describes the power in terms of the scattered FRB signals' time delay and Doppler shift. The arc indicates that the scintillation is caused by a highly localized region of the ionized interstellar medium (IISM). Our analysis favors a Milky Way origin for the localized scattering medium but cannot rule out a host galaxy origin. We present our method for detecting the scintillation arc, which can be applied generally to sources with irregularly spaced bursts or pulses. With the recent study of deep learning in scientific computation, the Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) method has drawn widespread attention for solving Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). Compared to traditional methods, PINNs can efficiently handle high-dimensional problems, but the accuracy is relatively low, especially for highly irregular problems. Inspired by the idea of adaptive finite element methods and incremental learning, we propose GAS, a Gaussian mixture distribution-based adaptive sampling method for PINNs. During the training procedure, GAS uses the current residual information to generate a Gaussian mixture distribution for the sampling of additional points, which are then trained together with historical data to speed up the convergence of the loss and achieve higher accuracy. Several numerical simulations on 2D and 10D problems show that GAS is a promising method that achieves state-of-the-art accuracy among deep solvers, while being comparable with traditional numerical solvers.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are brief, intense flashes of radio waves from unidentified extragalactic sources. Polarized FRBs originate in highly magnetized environments. We report observations of the repeating FRB 20190520B spanning seventeen months , which show its amount of Faraday rotation is highly variable and twice changes its sign. The FRB also depolarizes below radio frequencies around 1 to 3 GHz. We interpret these properties as due to change in the parallel component of the integrated magnetic field along the line-of-sight, including reversals. This could result from propagation through a turbulent, magnetized screen of plasma located between $10^{-5}$ to 100 parsecs of the FRB source. The polarization of fast radio bursts (FRBs), bright astronomical transients, contains crucial information about their environments. We report polarization measurements of five repeating FRBs, the abundant signals of which enable wide-band observations with two telescopes. A clear trend of lower polarization at lower frequencies was found, which can be well characterized by a single parameter rotation-measure-scatter ({\sigma}RM) and modeled by multi-path scatter. Sources with higher {\sigma}RM have higher RM magnitude and scattering timescales. The two sources with the most substantial {\sigma}RM, FRB 20121102A and FRB 20190520B, are associated with a compact persistent radio source. These properties indicate a complex environment near the repeating FRBs, such as a supernova remnant or a pulsar wind nebula, consistent with their arising from young populations.
