Purpose: The aim of our study is to assess subjective disease burden parameters (SVR and OP) as well as objective ones (BCVA and ODI) as predictors of HRQoL in Egyptian patients with BD uveitis. Methods: Ninety-six patients with BD uveitis were recruited in this cross-sectional study from the Rheumatology Department, Cairo University Hospital. HRQoL was assessed using RAND-36 item health survey 1.0, subjective visual rating (SVR) was measured on a 6-point Likert scale. Ocular pain (OP) was rated on a numeric rating scale. The Ocular Damage Index (ODI) was calculated using the ocular domain of the BD damage index. Linear regression was performed to determine predictors of HRQoL metrics. Results: SVR predicted Vitality (β = 0.15, p = 0.004), Emotional Well-being (EW) (β = 0.13, p = 0.005), General Health (β = 0.18, p = 0.012) and Mental Component Summary (β = 0.22, p = 0.002). OP predicted Social Function (β = -3.18 p < 0.001), General Health (β = −1.55, p = 0.004), Physical Component Summary (β = -2.00, p = 0.007) and Mental Component Summary (β = -1.53, p = 0.005). BCVA predicted Physical Function (β = 31.1, p = 0.02) and Emotional Well-being (β = 7.94, p = 0.01). ODI failed to predict any HRQoL metrics. ODI was independent predictor of legal blindness adjusted for uveitis duration and severity. Legally blind patients had worse HRQoL metrics than patients with better vision. Conclusion: In BD uveitis patients, subjective disease burden parameters were more informative about HRQoL metrics than objective ones. Longitudinal studies are needed to elucidate the utility of ODI as an outcome measure in BD uveitis. Aims: To assess the clinical, pathological and molecular characteristics (Sonic hedgehog and group 3/4 molecular subtypes expression) and treatment modalities for infantile medulloblastoma in correlation with outcomes. Materials & methods: A retrospective study of 86 medulloblastoma patients (≤3 years) was conducted. M0 patients <2.5 years received four cycles of chemotherapy followed by focal radiotherapy (FRT) and chemotherapy. Between 2007 and 2015, Metastatic patients <2.5 years received craniospinal irradiation (CSI) after the end of chemotherapy. After 2015, metastatic patients <2.5 years received CSI postinduction. Results: The hazard ratio for death was significantly higher in the FRT (HR = 2.8) group compared with the CSI group (hazard ratio = 1). Metastatic disease significantly affected the overall survival of the Sonic hedgehog group and the overall survival and event-free survival of group 3/4. Conclusion: Metastatic disease had a significant impact on outcomes. FRT is not effective in treating infantile medulloblastoma. This study aimed to analyze the management of and prognostic factors affecting the outcomes of 86 young children (<3 years of age at presentation) diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor that is commonly seen in this age group. All children had surgical operations aiming at resecting their tumors, followed by chemotherapy and irradiation. Study results showed that disease disseminated into the nervous system was associated with poorer outcomes compared with localized disease. Arabic language is strongly structured and considered as one of the most highly inflected and derivational languages. Learning Arabic morphology is a basic step for language learners to develop language skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Arabic morphology is non-concatenative and provides the ability to attach a large number of affixes to each root or stem that makes combinatorial increment of possible inflected words. As such, Arabic lexical (morphological and phonological) rules may be confusing for second language learners. Our study indicates that research and development endeavors on spelling, and checking of grammatical errors does not provide adequate interpretations to second language learners’ errors. In this paper we address issues related to error diagnosis and feedback for second language learners of Arabic verbs and how they impact the development of a web-based intelligent language tutoring system. The major aim is to develop an Arabic intelligent language tutoring system that solves these issues and helps second language learners to improve their linguistic knowledge. Learners are encouraged to produce input freely in various situations and contexts, and are guided to recognize by themselves the erroneous functions of their misused expressions. Moreover, we proposed a framework that allows for the individualization of the learning process and provides the intelligent feedback that conforms to the learner's expertise for each class of error. Error diagnosis is not possible with current Arabic morphological analyzers. So constraint relaxation and edit distance techniques are successfully employed to provide error-specific diagnosis and adaptive feedback to learners. We demonstrated the capabilities of these techniques in diagnosing errors related to Arabic weak verbs formed using complex morphological rules. As a proof of concept, we have implemented the components that diagnose learner's errors and generate feedback which have been effectively evaluated against test data acquired from real teaching environment. We report a 25-year-old woman with persistent dyspnea and wheezes that had been unsuccessfully treated with inhaled beta 2-agonists and steroids for about one year. Spirometry demonstrated a restrictive pattern. Chest CT demonstrated polypoidal lesion in left main bronchus. The lesion was excised via rigid bronchoscopy. Pathology showed a picture of typical bronchial carcinoid. In this patient, due to the lack of awareness, diagnosis of carcinoid was delayed for one year. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
