This article presents the current results of an ongoing study of the possibilities of fine-tuning automatic morphosyntactic and semantic annotation by means of improving the underlying formal grammar and ontology on the example of one Tibetan text. The ultimate purpose of work at this stage was to improve linguistic software developed for natural-language processing and understanding in order to achieve complete annotation of a specific text and such state of the formal model, in which all linguistic phenomena observed in the text would be explained. This purpose includes the following tasks: analysis of error cases in annotation of the text from the corpus; eliminating these errors in automatic annotation; development of formal grammar and updating of dictionaries. Along with the morpho-syntactic analysis, the current approach involves simultaneous semantic analysis as well. The article describes semantic annotation of the corpus, required by grammar revision and development, which was made with the use of computer ontology. The work is carried out with one of the corpus texts – a grammatical poetic treatise Sum-cu-pa (VII c.).

PurposeThis study aims to systematize and critically analyse existing indices and frameworks on digital capabilities with the focus on consumers’ digital capabilities, identify opportunities for their further development and suggest agenda for future research.Design/methodology/approachA sample of 18 frameworks and indices of consumers’ digital capabilities were compared based on their purposes, stakeholders, scope and application areas.FindingsThe study concludes with propositions that generalise current views on conceptualisation, measurement and management of consumers’ digital capabilities. Each proposition is further investigated in terms of possible implications for research and practice.Practical implicationsThe study indicates opportunities for businesses not only to consider consumers as recipients and adopters of digital technologies but also to aim to understand how to proactively involve consumers in value co-creation, help them be better educated and have a comprehensive understanding of potential outcomes of their participation in the digital economy.Social implicationsHighlighting individual consumer perspective in existing indices and frameworks will help consider the interests of society and provide win-win opportunities for everyone involved in the digital marketplace through bottom-up engagement in addition to top-down regulation and monitoring.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the extant literature threefold: firstly, existing digital capability frameworks and indices are systematized and critically investigated using criteria of stakeholders, purpose and aims; secondly, consumers are identified as principal stakeholder group whose interests are insufficiently presented in existing indices; thirdly, an integrative approach is suggested for a crucial comparison of existing indices, frameworks and their methodology with the focus on consumers’ interests.

The current study provides empirical insight into the nature of creating relational rents when managing business relationships in the context of the emerging Russian economy. Addressing both formal and social business network relationships, the study aims to understand the role of a systematic and purposeful approach to building and managing business relationships in order to generate superior relational advantage. The study explores the effects on both subjectively and objectively measured relational rents. Additionally, the role of institutional context in both shaping relationships and obtaining relational rents is considered through the inclusion of dysfunctional competition and institutional support. The results of a survey on a sample of 148 business-to-business firms demonstrate the leading role of the business relationship portfolio in generating relational rents, as well as the supporting role of relational capabilities in building this relationship portfolio. These effects are significantly affected by institutional moderators, demonstrating multidirectional effects on the mechanisms behind building relationships and obtaining the associated relational advantage.

Knowledge economy and further development of the information society made knowledge of all market interaction participants a key factor of consumption, adding value, including joint generation of value and innovation. Alongside with general increase in information volumes and decrease in consumer trust to it, the very products and services, as well as consumption technology and culture have become more complex and, thus, demonstrate relevance of managing consumer knowledge. Such complexity requires to teach consumers and to exchange knowledge with them. Consumer knowledge is of paramount importance for innovative products and services, as it is a key factor of innovation-decision process. Consumer knowledge practice needs clear understanding of this concept ("consumer knowledge"), its kinds and features, processes of acquiring and changing this knowledge, its influence on consumer behaviour, as well as company’s capabilities to establish consumer knowledge. Such understanding will be provided by creating ontology of innovative products and services’ consumer knowledge. Such ontology will help to resolve a whole range of enterprise engineering tasks: design of innovative products and services, as well as ecosystem surrounding them; design of an interaction system between a company and a consumer during a whole customer journey. This paper describes main requirements on ontology, discusses some existing ontologies, as well as contains primary results of ontology conceptualisation.

We implemented a novel multi-resolution grid approach to direct current resistivity (DCR) modeling in 3-D. The multi-resolution grid was initially developed to solve the electromagnetic forward problem and helped to improve the modeling efficiency. In the DCR forward problem, the distribution of the electric potentials in the subsurface is estimated. We consider finite-difference staggered grid discretization, which requires fine grid resolution to accurately model electric potentials around the current electrodes and complex model geometries near the surface. Since the potential variations attenuate with depth, the grid resolution can be decreased correspondingly. The conventional staggered grid fixes the horizontal grid resolution that extends to all layers. This leads to over-discretization and therefore unnecessary high computational costs (time and memory). The non-conformal multi-resolution grid allows the refinement or roughening for the grid’s horizontal resolution with depth, resulting in a substantial reduction of the degrees of freedom, and subsequently, computational requirements. In our implementation, the coefficient matrix maintains its symmetry, which is beneficial for using the iterative solvers and solving the adjoint problem in inversion. Through comparison with the staggered grid, we have found that the multi-resolution grid can significantly improve the modeling efficiency without compromising the accuracy. Therefore, the multi-resolution grid allows modeling with finer horizontal resolutions at lower computational costs, which is essential for accurate representation of the complex structures. Consequently, the inversion based on our modeling approach will be more efficient and accurate.

International audience; The effect of cannabidiol (CBD), a high-affinity agonist of the transient receptor potential vanilloid-2 (TRPV2) channel, has been poorly investigated in human brain microvessel endothelial cells (BMEC) forming the blood−brain barrier (BBB). TRPV2 expression and its role on Ca 2+ cellular dynamics, trans-endothelial electrical resistance (TEER), cell viability and growth, migration, and tubulogenesis were evaluated in human primary cultures of BMEC (hPBMEC) or in the human cerebral microvessel endothelial hCMEC/D3 cell line. Abundant TRPV2 expression was measured in hCMEC/D3 and hPBMEC by qRT-PCR, Western blotting, nontargeted proteomics, and cellular immunofluorescence studies. Intracellular Ca 2+ levels were increased by heat and CBD and blocked by the nonspecific TRP antagonist ruthenium red (RR) and the selective TRPV2 inhibitor tranilast (TNL) or by silencing cells with TRPV2 siRNA. CBD dose-dependently induced the hCMEC/D3 cell number (EC 50 0.3 ± 0.1 μM), and this effect was fully abolished by TNL or TRPV2 siRNA. A wound healing assay showed that CBD induced cell migration, which was also inhibited by TNL or TRPV2 siRNA. Tubulogenesis of hCMEC/D3 cells in 3D matrigel cultures was significantly increased by 41 and 73% after a 7 or 24 h CBD treatment, respectively, and abolished by TNL. CBD also increased the TEER of hPBMEC monolayers cultured in transwell, and this was blocked by TNL. Our results show that CBD, at extracellular concentrations close to those observed in plasma of patients treated by CBD, induces proliferation, migration, tubulogenesis, and TEER increase in human brain endothelial cells, suggesting CBD might be a potent target for modulating the human BBB.

Extant research argues that innovation collaboration (IC) has strong potential to create relational rents, but few scholars have investigated what capabilities can drive and enhance IC. This paper considers relational learning (RL) as a dynamic capability that strengthens IC and its contribution to firm performance through a better understanding of a firm's past collaboration and its future potential. By focusing on the timing of collaboration, the paper explains how IC is embedded in a firm's innovation activities by investigating the extent to which external partners are involved at various stages of the innovation process. The results of the study, which are based on a quantitative survey of 155 Russian firms, confirm the positive role of RL in innovation collaboration. They also highlight that the extent of the collaboration payoff varies according to its timing. The inclusion of the IC timing perspective indicates that firms should account for both the direct and indirect effects of RL on IC, and IC on firm performance when preparing for and managing their IC efforts with external partners.

This study revisits one of the most widely used concepts in marketing - customer orientation (CO) - in the context of the Russian emerging market. Analysis of three sets of survey data, combined with insights from in-depth interviews with industry experts, suggest that customer orientation in the Russian market consists of two distinct dimensions: customer-centric strategy and customer service delivery. Both dimensions contribute to firms' ability to serve their customers, adapt to their market environment, and optimize growth and profitability. However, the relative impact of the two dimensions of CO does differ across diverse types of performance outcomes, suggesting that both are critical in a firm's quest to improve its overall business performance.

This article promotes a distinctive sociological interpretation of the Russian Constitution. Much literature on Russian constitutional law is defined by the claim that the Constitution has little factual reality and limited foundation in society. This article challenges this view on two grounds. It argues that there are two deep-lying social processes that underlie the Constitution, and condition its evolution: the Constitution is shaped (a) by the importance of constitutional law for the stabilization of governance structures; (b) by the resultant relative autonomy of judicial practices, which means that legal exchanges (especially litigation) have formative impact on the constitutional order. On both grounds, the Russian Constitution is locked into cycles of societal norm construction. To understand the sociological linkages in which the constitution is located, we require a complex construction of society, and we need to observe how different practices within the legal system affect and even produce constitutional laws.

The paper suggests a measurement of consumer animosity that is applicable to respondents from different home countries and to different target countries of animosity. The multidimensional scale is based on the distinction of three universal drivers that mediate the influence of specific causes on general animosity: perceived threat, antithetical political attitudes, and negative personal experiences. By means of partial least squares, two studies validate the scale demonstrating (1) cross-national stability, (2) criterion validity (animosity influences product-specific country-of-origin images, boycotting, and purchase intention), and (3) construct validity (animosity is embedded in a nomological network of ethnocentrism, patriotism, and cosmopolitanism).

article i nfo The article investigates the role of market orientation as an antecedent for the development of relational capabilities and performance in Russian industrial firms. We test the direct role of different aspects of market orientation on business performance in comparison to an indirect and mediated influence via improving a firm's ability to become embedded in relational structures. The results of an empirical study demonstrate the differential impact of components of market orientation - customer orientation, competitor orientation, and interfunctional coordination - as direct and indirect antecedents of relational capabilities and thus subsequently of overall firm performance. It can be shown that in Russian industrial markets competitor orientation directly and positively impacts on performance, while the other two components of market orientation have only a mediated effect on performance via the development of relational capabilities.

article i nfo This study aims to investigate the role of interfunctional collaboration between marketing and purchasing functions in industrial companies. Interfunctional collaboration is considered as a measure of the internal alignment and partnership between departments in the firm, which in turn contributes to the creation of sustainable advantages via improved external partnerships and facilitating demand chain integration. We test the impact of customer orientation as well as the interactions between departments (specifically marketing and purchasing) as collaboration antecedents, and analyze the direct impact of marketing-purchasing collaboration on business performance. The model is tested on a sample of 148 industrial companies in Russia with two key respondents in each firm, incorporating the purchasing as well as the marketing perspective. The results show that marketing-purchasing collaboration mediates the effects of interfunctional interaction as well as customer orientation on business performance. Alternative model testing shows that the direct effects of these antecedent constructs on performance are non-significant in the context of Russian industrial companies.

Previous studies have shown that long-term planning, collaborative supplier relationships and supply management capabilities reflect the strategic role and importance of purchasing and supply management (PSM) in firms, regardless of the nature of the business. This study examines how these elements behave in different business environments, such as in Western countries and emerging economies. Finland and Russia were chosen to represent two extremes in terms of international economic competitiveness and the business environment. A survey was conducted in both countries. Regression analyses were run from both samples to examine the effects of long-term planning, collaborative supplier relationships and supply management capabilities on the status of PSM by using data from 100 Finnish firms and 208 Russian firms. The results showed that these elements positively influence the status of PSM in both countries.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to develop an understanding of what constitutes relationship quality in four different countries. The paper shows which attributes are important in assessing relationship quality and how they vary in importance among countries.Design/methodology/approachConjoint analysis was used to derive how managers trade‐off different attributes of relationship quality. These attributes were: the levels of trust in the relationship, the understanding of each others' needs, the integration of systems between the two companies, the use or abuse of power, and the profit resulting from the interactions. Cluster analysis was used to classify the respondents in order to check if the overall results were indicative of a general consensus among the managers concerned, or alternatively if there were different perspectives on what constituted good quality relationship.FindingsWhilst the routes to develop relationships may vary between different countries, the attributes which make up relationships are also likely to be valued differently in various places around the world.Research limitations/implicationsConjoint analysis questions are difficult to answer; making it difficult to have large sample sizes. However, further studies should try to consider increasing the sample size.Practical implicationsThe paper shows that there are indeed differences between what it is that managers seek from the relationships that they have to manage: but while noting certain national traits that seem to dominate within particular cultures, there is still variance in the individual datasets, pointing to the fact that managers have to manage their portfolio of relationships in an individual way.Originality/valueThis is the first study that compares the importance of relationship quality within and between four counties.

The number of Russian companies entering international markets has increased dramatically in the last 10 years. The development of innovative industries has intensified as well. Do innovations play significant role in internationalisation? Do innovators internationalize more actively? Does operating on international markets make companies more innovative? This paper studies innovations and internationalisation of companies in Russia, based on the survey of R&D-oriented companies located in the two most developed areas of Russia (St. Petersburg and Moscow). The study aims to identify the clusters of companies according to their exports and R&D expenditures, and fulfil in-depth analysis of innovations-related determinants that could explain the structure of the clusters. The main results of the study show the significant impact of innovation activities, competition and new product development on export intensity.

The dopamine D3 receptor (DRD3) mediates expression of conditioned effects of psychostimulants, but conflicting results have been obtained with opiates. In a conditioned place preference (CPP) procedure, morphine increased the time spent in a compartment previously paired with drug injection. CPP was obtained at morphine doses of 16 and 32 mg/kg in wild-type (drd3+/+) mice and 8, 16 and 32 mg/kg in DRD3-knockout (drd3-/-) mice. BP897, a DRD3-selective partial agonist, inhibited the expression of morphine-CPP in drd3+/+, but not drd3-/- mice. BP 897 reduced brain regional activation, measured by c-fos imaging after the CPP test session, in the somatosensory cortex of drd3+/+, but not drd3-/- mice. These results confirm the role of DRD3 in the expression of conditioned effects of morphine and the participation of the somatosensory cortex in these effects.
