The activity of the editor Mariano Cabrerizo illuminates the itinerary of the novel and the bourgeoisie. The exalted spirit of the Triennium led to jail and exile, which was a blow to the editorial production and family economy. But thanks to intelligence and opportunism, he was able to relaunch his business through the Collection of novels, a powerful instrument in the dissemination of European and Spanish narrative. Subscriptions of individuals, large institutions and private libraries helped consolidate the commercial and literary initiatives of Cabrerizo. Personal avatars led the famous editor to a new situation of economic bonanza in which the progressive bet of youth, once the Old Regime has disappeared from the horizon, is softened by the way of moderation and economic caution.
