- Abstract
The neuropsychiatric manifestations of SLE are varied and may be classified as primary neurologic and psychiatric disease (related to direct involvement of the nervous system] or secondary disease (related to complications of the disease and its treatment), Estimates of the prevalence of neuropsychiatric manifestations o f SLE have ranged from 14% to over 80% in adults. The wide range in reported prevalence reflects in part the use of different criteria for neuropsychiatric disease. It seems that 28-40% of these manifestations develop before or around the time of the diagnosis of SLE. Our poster will focus on the clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment strategies of neuropsychiatric lupus (NPSLE) in a series of 5 recent cases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
