Background: The antenatal and postnatal periods are critical stages in a woman's reproductive life. Many physical changes occur during pregnancy, such as water retention and excessive weight gain. The aim of the present study is to find out the effectiveness of various behavioral interventions during pregnancy to prevent excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) and postpartum weight retention (PPWR). Methods: In this parallel-group randomized controlled trial, 150 pregnant women with singleton pregnancy, aged 20-30 years, body mass index (BMI) ≥ 18.5 kg/m² and gestational age of less than 16 weeks were randomly allocated into five groups (N = 30 in each group): Group A: Control; Group B: Supervised exercise; Group C: Pedometer; Group D: Text message; and Group E: Pedometer plus text message group. Group B received four supervised exercise sessions per month up to delivery; Groups C and E were urged to increase their levels of physical activity, focusing on pedometer-measured step counts of at least 5000-7500 steps per day on seven consecutive days each month. Group E along with group D also received standard SMS messages about physical activity, diet, motivation, and educational-specific topics. Results: The between-group comparisons revealed a statistically significant reduction in PPWR but insignificant difference in GWG. The greatest reduction in PPWR was found in the supervised exercise group (MD = 3.25 kg, 95% CI: [1.75, 4.75], P = 0.0001 with effect size (n2) = 0.155). Conclusion: The study found that the supervised exercise can be seen as an effective way of improving the physical activity level and reducing excessive PPWR in pregnant women. The main objective of the article was to evaluate the effectiveness of Neuromuscular exercises (NEMEX) on pain and function in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Pubmed, Cochrane, PEDro and Google Scholar were searched. The eligibility criteria were: Randomized controlled trials, single blinded controlled trials, controlled before and after study comparing and assessing the effectiveness of NEMEX in knee osteoarthritis, articles published in English language till 2020 with NEMEX either alone or in conjunction with other interventions (drugs, educational packages) in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Outcome measures used for meta-analysis were visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) for function and the other measures Knee Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), Knee Index and Knee Adduction Moment (KAM) and Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS). The result of the meta-analysis for the included two studies showed statistically significant reduction in pain (VAS) in the NEMEX group as compared to the other group Z = 0.64, p = 0.03, I2 = 79% and no significant reduction in WOMAC scores Z = 0.70, P = 0.64. The study concludes that there was statistically significant improvement in pain (VAS) but no functional improvement (WOMAC) with the NEMEX whether used in isolation or in conjunction with other interventions was seen in the patients with knee OA. However, large numbers of studies are required to generalize the effectiveness of NEMEX in knee osteoarthritis. Based on this review, NEMEX can be used as a potential intervention in reducing pain, improving strength and function in knee osteoarthritis patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper introduces the geometry of lightlike hypersurfaces of an indefinite Kaehler statistical manifold and investigates their structural properties with respect to the dual connections. Some conditions for the integrability and parallelism of the almost complex distribution have been derived. Further, the induced local lightlike parallel vector fields in the lightlike hypersurfaces have been characterized. It is also shown that a Lie-recurrent structure tensor field in the lightlike hypersurface of an indefinite Kaehler statistical manifold is Lie-parallel. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

• We report that co-infections of DENV-CHIKV occurred at a frequency of 6.7% in the transmission cycle. • While DENV-3 is now frequently detected in the Indian subcontinent, we do not see a serotype bias in the patients that are co-infected with ESCA strain of CHIKV. • The effector B cell response (plasmablasts) observed are specific to both infecting viruses indicating no overt bias. With explosive epidemics of chikungunya in India since 2004, chikungunya virus (CHIKV) now co-circulates in geographical areas where Dengue virus (DENV) is already endemic and thus provides opportunity for the same mosquito to be infected with both viruses. Although there are excellent studies that have addressed the clinical of mono and co-infection, we have little to no knowledge on the current viral sequences that pre-dominate co-infections, and the B cell response elicited. In this study, we analyzed febrile patients that were confirmed to have DENV-CHIKV co-infections and asked the following questions: 1) what is the frequency of co-infections found in a single cycle of transmission; 2) what are the viral sequences associated with them; 3) what does the antibody secreting cell / plasmablast response look like in patients that are co-infected with both viruses. We report those co-infections occur at a frequency of 6.7% in the transmission cycle, and while DENV-3 is now frequently detected, we do not see a serotype bias in the patients that are co-infected with ESCA strain of CHIKV. Moreover, the effector B cell response (plasmablasts) observed are specific to both infecting viruses indicating no overt bias.
