Even though the electromagnetic counterpart AT2017gfo to the binary neutron star merger GW170817 is powered by the radioactive decay of r-process nuclei, only few tentative identifications of light r-process elements have been made so far. One of the major limitations for the identification of heavy nuclei is incomplete or missing atomic data. While substantial progress has been made on lanthanide atomic data over the last few years, for actinides there has been less emphasis, with the first complete set of opacity data only recently published. We perform atomic structure calculations of neodymium (Z = 60) as well as the corresponding actinide uranium (Z = 92). Using two different codes [ flexible atomic code (fac) and hartree–fock-relativistic (hfr)] for the calculation of the atomic data, we investigate the accuracy of the calculated data (energy levels and electric dipole transitions) and their effect on kilonova opacities. For the fac calculations, we optimize the local central potential and the number of included configurations and use a dedicated calibration technique to improve the agreement between theoretical and available experimental atomic energy levels (AELs). For ions with vast amounts of experimental data available, the presented opacities agree quite well with previous estimations. On the other hand, the optimization and calibration method cannot be used for ions with only few available AELs. For these cases, where no experimental nor benchmarked calculations are available, a large spread in the opacities estimated from the atomic data obtained with the various atomic structure codes is observed. The subphylum Saccharomycotina is a lineage in the fungal phylum Ascomycota that exhibits levels of genomic diversity similar to those of plants and animals. The Saccharomycotina consist of more than 1 200 known species currently divided into 16 families, one order, and one class. Species in this subphylum are ecologically and metabolically diverse and include important opportunistic human pathogens, as well as species important in biotechnological applications. Many traits of biotechnological interest are found in closely related species and often restricted to single phylogenetic clades. However, the biotechnological potential of most yeast species remains unexplored. Although the subphylum Saccharomycotina has much higher rates of genome sequence evolution than its sister subphylum, Pezizomycotina, it contains only one class compared to the 16 classes in Pezizomycotina. The third subphylum of Ascomycota, the Taphrinomycotina, consists of six classes and has approximately 10 times fewer species than the Saccharomycotina. These data indicate that the current classification of all these yeasts into a single class and a single order is an underappreciation of their diversity. Our previous genome-scale phylogenetic analyses showed that the Saccharomycotina contains 12 major and robustly supported phylogenetic clades; seven of these are current families (Lipomycetaceae, Trigonopsidaceae, Alloascoideaceae, Pichiaceae, Phaffomycetaceae, Saccharomycodaceae, and Saccharomycetaceae), one comprises two current families (Dipodascaceae and Trichomonascaceae), one represents the genus Sporopachydermia, and three represent lineages that differ in their translation of the CUG codon (CUG-Ala, CUG-Ser1, and CUG-Ser2). Using these analyses in combination with relative evolutionary divergence and genome content analyses, we propose an updated classification for the Saccharomycotina, including seven classes and 12 orders that can be diagnosed by genome content. This updated classification is consistent with the high levels of genomic diversity within this subphylum and is necessary to make the higher rank classification of the Saccharomycotina more comparable to that of other fungi, as well as to communicate efficiently on lineages that are not yet formally named. Ultrasonography is one of the main methods of gestational diagnosis, in which it performs: biometry, monitoring of beats and organogenesis, detection of abnormalities and evaluation of maternal-fetal blood circulation. In this regard, intrauterine sonographic diagnosis of fetal abnormalities has been gaining space with the development of more advanced equipment, and has the potential to become a screening tool for this purpose. Based on the scarcity observed in this aspect, this study aims to report the intrauterine ultrasound diagnosis of a fetal abnormality in a pregnant feline. The patient was a 3-year-old Persian female with a history of natural mounting for 40 days. At ultrasonography, four live fetuses were visualized at approximately 38 days of age. A second ultrasonographic evaluation was performed after 12 days, and one fetus with cardiomegaly, heart rate oscillation and fetal distress was observed, while the other fetuses were within normal limits. The third scan was performed after four days, showing absence of heartbeat and presence of fluid in the pleural space in the fetus in question, confirming the death. Natural delivery occurred after one week, with the birth of three live pups and one stillborn. At necroscopic examination of the stillborn, generalized cardiomegaly was confirmed. We conclude that ultrasonography is a gold standard method for diagnosing fetal abnormalities, allowing birth planning and early intervention according to the situation. Thus, this study enriches the literature with more information related to fetal malformations observed before delivery, thus contributing to obstetric management in small animals. On July 25, 2013, the Alphasat satellite was launched, carrying the component technology test-bed (CTTB) to assess the space radiation effects in electronic components. Embedded in each of the three experimental boards of the CTTB, are radiation-sensitive metal-oxide–silicon field-effect transistors (RADFETs) to measure the radiation levels at the Alphasat geostationary orbit (GEO). In this work, values of accumulated dose are presented for the RADFETs onboard the Alphasat CTTB experiments up to July 16, 2018. These values were calculated from the threshold voltage shift and from temperature data transmitted to Earth, and using the model derived, previously, from the ESAPMOS4 RADFETs calibration campaign conducted at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) Cobalt-60 facility. These results show that the current accumulated doses are between 1.9 and 3.2 krad and the average dose rates are between 40 and 70 mrad/h. We also present a polynomial function that allows converting voltages into doses for a wide range of values and for different temperatures. The quality of this conversion is tested against Geant4 simulations of the expected dose in the CTTB components for the space radiation environment at the Alphasat orbit. In recent years, 'multi-omic' sciences have affected all aspects of fundamental and applied biological research. Yeast taxonomists, though somewhat timidly, have begun to incorporate complete genomic sequences into the description of novel taxa, taking advantage of these powerful data to calculate more reliable genetic distances, construct more robust phylogenies, correlate genotype with phenotype and even reveal cryptic sexual behaviors. However, the use of genomic data in formal yeast species descriptions is far from widespread. The present review examines published examples of genome-based species descriptions of yeasts, highlights relevant bioinformatic approaches, provides recommendations for new users and discusses some of the challenges facing the genome-based systematics of yeasts. This paper discusses the use of photoacoustic models to obtain the nonradiative relaxation time (τ) and characteristic diffusion time (τβ) for a sample showing visible absorption bands from fluorescent ion-doped low-silica calcium aluminosilicate glass. Two models allowing phase shift analyses, the thermal-expansion and thermal-diffusion models, are briefly reviewed. These models have limitations when the photoacoustic signal depends on both factors, in a coupling mechanism. An alternative model is proposed to take both thermal expansion and thermal diffusion into account with a single temperature solution for the heat-coupled differential equation. This model is simulated for absorbing samples near the thermally thick region. The model is applied to Eu–V codoped glass showing intermediate signal dependence from ω-1.0 to ω-3/2. The nonradiative time and characteristic diffusion time are derived with 33<τ(ms)<39, and τβ(ms)∼70 ms for the Eu-ion and 340<τβ(ms)<710 for the V-ion. Four absorption bands were analyzed (280, 350, 420, and 600 nm), which showed a signal dependence from ω-1.1 to ω-1.52. Absorption coefficients were derived from τβ in the range of 15<β(cm-1)<51, which agreed fairly well with spectrophotometer data for the same ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to update and deepen the theoretical discussions about Digital Heritage, the authors initiated a survey of the most recent technologies that improves the documentation of architectural buildings and sites. We intend to implement a digital workflow on the studies of buildings and sites that have a potential of protection in the Fluminense lowland of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is part of the activities of the conservation education at bachelor level in Architecture and Urbanism, and the course of the Postgraduate Program on heritage conservation of Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ). The main objective of the current scientific research is the identification of Brazilian researchers and the subjects that have been studied in the last five years in order to make a theoretical review through the systematization of topics, thematic axis, terms, concepts regarding the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the heritage documentation. We carried out a qualitative-quantitative mapping of the scientific production of twelve scientific events having occurred in Brazil and Latin America between 2013 and 2018. We detected 156 Brazilian researchers from all regions of the country that had researched about Digital heritage. The mapping of themes was compared to keywords index of CIPA-ICOMOS Symposium 2017 in order to identify points of contact and lack of studies in Brazil for planning the future research. The research group seek ways for better integration between national researchers, ways to get theoretical content up-to-date and to adopt more accurate documentation practices at undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines. We prove that tangent cones of Lipschitz normally embedded sets are Lipschitz normally embedded. We also extend to real subanalytic sets the notion of reduced tangent cone and we show that subanalytic Lipschitz normally embedded sets have reduced tangent cones. We address a metric version of Zariski’s multiplicity conjecture at infinity that says that two complex algebraic affine sets which are bi- Lipschitz homeomorphic at infinity must have the same degree. More specifically, we prove that the degree is a bi-Lipschitz invariant at infinity when the bi-Lipschitz homeomorphism has Lipschitz constants close to 1. In particular, we have that a family of complex algebraic sets bi-Lipschitz equisingular at infinity has constant degree. Moreover, we prove that if two polynomials are weakly rugose equivalent at infinity, then they have the same degree. In particular, we obtain that if two polynomials are rugose equivalent at infinity or bi-Lipschitz contact equivalent at infinity or bi-Lipschitz right-left equivalent at infinity, then they have the same degree. Abstract: We prove that if two germs of irreducible complex analytic curves at 0 ∈ C 2 have different sequence of characteristic exponents, then there exists 0 < α < 1 such that those germs are not α‐Hölder homeomorphic. For germs of complex analytic plane curves with several irreducible components we prove that if any two of them are α‐Hölder homeomorphic, for all 0 < α < 1, then there is a correspondence between their branches preserving sequence of characteristic exponents and intersection multiplicity of pair of branches. In particular, we recover the sequence of characteristic exponents of the branches and intersection multiplicity of pair of branches are Lipschitz invariant of germs of complex analytic plane curves.
