In recent years, Brazil has registered a significant increase in the incidence rate of individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This phenomenon is accompanied by the growing number of inclusive policies and guidebook for educators and health agents, describing interventional practices that guarantee the education/treatment of these individuals in school and non-school settings. The purpose of this literature review, associated with documentary research, was to analyze reference publications, disseminated by the Ministry of Health and Education, which address interventional practices for individuals with ASD, published in the last 20 years. Results from the six documents identified indicated that the conceptions of ASD, the interventions proposed, as well as the professional profiles of those who work with this population were not always aligned with empirically validated protocols. Alternatives for the production, dissemination, and improvement of evidence-based practices (EBP) for students with ASD are discussed.

Inclusion of students with autism has been a challenge for educators who indicate gaps in professional training, especially regarding interventions in the school context. The international literature shows evidence of the effectiveness of a type of intervention not found in the national literature, called peer-mediated intervention (PMI). This study aims to review the PMI in the education of students with autism and its implications for research and pedagogical practice. The theoretical principles of child development behind this intervention are examined to describe the evolution of different procedures and methodologies historically used. Research shows effectiveness of this intervention for improving social skills of special education students and, more recently, for academic learning of children with autism. The broad use from naturalistic to controlled environments, the low cost, and complexity favor its use as a pedagogical practice by kindergarten teachers in inclusive settings. However, the need of future studies addressing this topic in the Brazilian educational context is identified. The article is dedicated to the question of how the conceptions of subjectivizing digitalization are presented in those general- and media-pedagogical researches that address digitalization. The aim is to answer the question of whether and to what extent individual sovereignty is still considered conceptually viable and, above all, practically realizable as a media-pedagogical target category in the face of digital change. The Cartoon Test is an instrument that analyzes the perception of children and adolescents about the meaning of bullying through scenes of interaction between peers in the school environment. This qualitative exploratory study is the second phase of validation of the instrument in Brazil. The aim is to verify whether the participants understand both the images and captions of the cartoons and to record the words used to describe the inappropriate behaviors. Eight focus groups were carried out, with 52 students, aged between eight and 14 years, from two cities in Rio Grande do Sul. The instruments used were: sociodemographic questionnaire, record sheet and Cartoon Test. Content analysis was performed. The results showed that the instrument was understood by all the participants and bullying was the word most used to describe the aggressive situations. A reduction in the number of cartoons administered to children is suggested, in order to avoid exhaustion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A U-Net is a type of convolutional neural network that has been shown to output impressive results in medical imaging segmentation tasks. Still, neural networks in general form a black box that is hard to interpret, especially by noncomputer scientists. This work provides a visual system that allows users to examine U-Nets that were trained to predict brain lesions caused by stroke using multimodal imaging. We provide several visualization views that allow users to load trained U-Nets, run them on different patient data, and examine the results while visually following the computation of the U-Net. With these visualizations, we can provide useful information for our medical collaborators showing how the training database can be improved and which features are best learned by the neural network. Autoscopy is a methodological resource that includes video recording procedures with interventional practices, directing the analysis, and self-evaluation to the protagonists of this practice. The objective of this study is to present evidence of the effectiveness of the autoscopy procedure in autism interventions. Autoscopy was an independent variable in two of the experimental single-subject studies. Study A verified the effects of autoscopy on the teacher using pictographic cards to enhance student's communication and waiting for students' responses after their requests. Study B analyzed the effect on the socio-communicative abilities of the mother of the child and the child during the intervention. It was concluded that the responses of the teachers, just as much as the parents, showed significant statistical effects by the autoscopy, attesting to its robustness. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are characterized by impairment in social communication and restricted interests and activities. This profile may contribute to the isolation of these children and their families from social environments, such as schools. This scenario highlights the need for a closer relationship between family and school contexts to enhance educational inclusion gains and promote development and learning. The Parental Involvement refers to educational practices that parents tend to develop with their children, including involvement with the school. This study is a review of the parental involvement concept and theoretical models of family and school relationships. X-ray free-electron lasers (FELs) enable crystallographic data collection using extremely bright femtosecond pulses from microscopic crystals beyond the limitations of conventional radiation damage. This diffraction-before-destruction approach requires a new crystal for each FEL shot and, since the crystals cannot be rotated during the X-ray pulse, data collection requires averaging over many different crystals and a Monte Carlo integration of the diffraction intensities, making the accurate determination of structure factors challenging. To investigate whether sufficient accuracy can be attained for the measurement of anomalous signal, a large data set was collected from lysozyme microcrystals at the newly established `multi-purpose spectroscopy/imaging instrument' of the SPring-8 Ångstrom Compact Free-Electron Laser (SACLA) at RIKEN Harima. Anomalous difference density maps calculated from these data demonstrate that serial femtosecond crystallography using a free-electron laser is sufficiently accurate to measure even the very weak anomalous signal of naturally occurring S atoms in a protein at a photon energy of 7.3 keV.
