Diabetes is a condition that affects metabolism of carbohydrates, sugars, proteins, and lipids. Chronic hyperglycemia caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion or insulin activity is its key characteristic. A severe threat to human health is posed by the rapidly rising prevalence of diabetes mellitus worldwide. Despite the availability of well-known anti-diabetic medications diabetes, and its associated complications, it remains a serious health concern. This review examines antidiabetic properties of medicinal plants found in Himachal Pradesh, exploring their phytoconstituents and their potential role in managing diabetes mellitus. It collates in vivo and toxicological studies along with clinical trials on various plant species, found in Himachal Pradesh scrutinizing the bioactive compounds that exhibit antidiabetic effects. Results of these studies indicate that specific plant species can significantly reduce blood glucose levels in streptozotocin and alloxan monohydrate-induced diabetic animal models, including male Wistar rats and male Albino mice, over treatment periods ranging from 5 to 49 days. Furthermore, in human clinical settings, the antidiabetic effects of these plants in diabetic patients are investigated within 4 h to 3 months. Changes in biological parameters brought after treatment with these plant extracts are compared to diabetic animals and patients receiving no treatment. These findings underscore the therapeutic potential of Himachal Pradesh's flora in managing and treating diabetes, advocating for further scientific validation and development of plant-based antidiabetic medications. One of the most prominent challenges related to the management of diabetes is a diabetic foot ulcer (DFU). It has been noted that > 50% of ulcers become clinically infected in diabetic patients, and up to 15–25% of diabetic patients may acquire DFU in their lifetime. DFU treatment is complicated for immune-compromised individuals and has a low success rate. Therefore, diabetic foot care must begin as soon as possible to avoid negative outcomes such as significant social, psychological, and economic consequences, lower limb amputation, morbidity, and mortality. The information provided in this piece is crucial for assisting clinicians and patients regarding novel and cutting-edge treatments for DFU. Due to irrational recourse to antibiotics, etiological agents like bacteria and fungi are exhibiting multidrug resistance (MDR), making topical antibiotic treatments for wounds ineffective with the drugs we currently have. This review article aims to compile the various strategies presently in use for managing and treating DFUs. Objective: This study aims to explore the influence of combining autologous platelet-rich gel (APG) with continuous vacuum-sealed drainage (CVSD) and the exogenous recombinant human acidic fibroblast growth factor (rh-aFGF) on the healing processes of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU). The primary objective is to elucidate the complex molecular mechanisms associated with DFU, providing innovative perspectives for its treatment. Methods: Ninety patients diagnosed with DFU were randomly allocated into three distinct groups. Group A underwent CVSD following wound cleansing to facilitate healing. In Group B, in addition to conventional treatment, negative pressure wound therapy was applied, and rh-aFGF was introduced into normal saline for lavage, building upon the procedures of Group A. Group C received APG along with the interventions applied in Group B. The clinical efficacy of each group was systematically observed and analyzed. Additionally, changes in plasma oxidative stress, inflammatory markers, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) were assessed both before treatment and 14 days post-treatment. Results: Following treatment, all groups exhibited commendable clinical efficacy. Group C demonstrated a superior wound healing rate, reduced frequency of dressing changes, and shorter wound healing duration (P< 0.05). Compared to baseline measurements, the levels of superoxide dismutase and PEDF increased, while malondialdehyde, VEGF, interleukin-6, interleukin-8, and monocyte chemotactic factor MCP-1 decreased in the wound tissue across all groups. Notably, Group C showed the most significant improvement in clinical efficacy and fortification of molecular mechanisms against oxidative stress (all P< 0.05). Conclusions: The integrative therapeutic approach combining APG with CVSD and rh-aFGF demonstrates notable efficacy in advancing wound healing. This effectiveness is evident through the reduced frequency of dressing changes and alleviation of wound-related pain. Additionally, the treatment regimen improves the cure rate for challenging, refractory wounds. These favorable outcomes can be attributed to the reduction of oxidative stress levels, attenuation of the local inflammatory response, and the enhancement of the balance between PEDF and VEGF. Anemia is a public health problem that often occurs in adolescent girls in developing countries, including Indonesia, mainly due to iron deficiency. Iron supplementation has been implemented for anemia treatment, but there are some side effects for long-term use. The Indonesian Government also fortified wheat flour with iron and folic acid, but the efficacy of fortification remains unclear. Snake fruit seeds contain high iron (Fe) and vitamin C levels but they are usually thrown away. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the effects of jelly-containing snake fruit seed flour (SSF) and sugar, now called Jebisa, on macro and micronutrient intake and hematological profile in adolescent girls with anemia. Thirty tree adolescent girls from five public high schools in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Indonesia, were randomly grouped into three categories: Control group (C) was given plain jelly with Fe tablets, and Treatment groups (T1-T2) were given jelly-containing 18.52 g and 37.04 g SSF, respectively, for 60 days. Data were analyzed using the one-way and repeated measures ANOVA tests followed by the Post Hoc Tukey and the Kruskal-Wallis test for non-parametric data. A significant value was set to p<0.05. The results suggested that the average daily energy intake, carbohydrates, and fibers significantly increased in the T1 and T2 groups compared to the C group (p<0.05). The average Fe intake in the T2 (19.59±1.70 mg/day) was significantly higher than that of T1 (10.74±2.40 mg/day) and C group (4.74±3.43 mg/day) with p<0.001. The T1 group had higher hemoglobin (Hb) levels (11.44±2.01 g/dL) than the C (11.04±1.92 g/dL) and T2 groups (10.89±0.67 g/dL) but were not significantly different. In recent years, the scientific community has shown interest in the role of gut microbiota in the development of autoimmune diseases (AID). Although observational studies have revealed significant associations between gut microbiota and AID like rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and multiple sclerosis, these connections do not necessarily imply causality. Mendelian randomization (MR) approach has been extensively employed to investigate the causal relationship. Relevant MR study findings indicate that a reduction in beneficial microbial populations, particularly Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus, and an increase in potential pathogenic microbes, is correlated with an elevated AID risk. Given the innovative potential of MR in unraveling the etiopathogenesis of AIDs, this article offers an overview of this methodological approach and its recent applications in AID research. The antioxidant activity of curry leaves is of interest because oxidative stress is implicated in a variety of diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and neurodegenerative disorders. By scavenging free radicals and inhibiting lipid peroxidation, antioxidants can help protect cells from damage and reduce the risk of these diseases. Overall, in-silico studies suggest that curry leaves and their bioactive compounds have potent antioxidant activity. The objective of the study was to assess the antioxidant activity of the bioactive molecules from Murraya koenigii and anticipate the toxicity by in-silico research. iGEMDOCK software was used to assess the antioxidant activity. ProTox II software was used to conduct the toxicity investigations. Osthol (− 81.4863, − 81.9046 kcal/mol), mukoenineA (− 81.0417, − 78.9941 kcal/mol), murrayone(− 80.0731, − 78.9453 kcal/mol), kaempferol (− 97.0774, − 89.3534 kcal/mol), and apigenin (− 89.5291, − 108.704 kcal/mol) were found to have the highest binding energies with SOD and GPx proteins, respectively, when compared with standard (ascorbic acid; − 81.132, − 98.917 kcal/mol). All the mentioned compounds have low levels of hepatotoxicity, carcinogenicity, immunotoxicity, mutagenicity, and cytotoxicity. Purpose: We aim to conduct a literature review on actions of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), preclinical studies in PRF utility, and its potential uses in clinical settings. Methods: We conducted a literature review based on primary studies conducted on PubMed and Europe PMC between 2012 and 2022. We included 42 articles in this review from the results of our search. Results: Epithelial tissues act as a barrier from mechanical, chemical, and temperature damage. Naturally, hemostasis acts to reduce blood loss and creates initial fibrin matrices after traumatic events or injuries. PRF is a second-generation platelet concentrate, commonly made in the form of leukocyte and PRF due to leukocyte content. Fibrin matrices in PRF allow more sustained growth factors release when compared to PRP, the first-generation platelet concentrate. PRF comes from increased proliferation and differentiation mediated by reduced proliferation of inflammatory cells and sustained release of growth factors and cytokines. Conclusions: PRF action comes from increased proliferation and differentiation from growth factors and cytokines. Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and antibiotic‐loaded bone cement (ALBC) are commonly used treatments for diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). However, the combined efficacy of these two modalities remains unclear. This clinical study aimed to assess the effectiveness and underlying mechanisms of NPWT&ALBC in the management of DFUs. A total of 28 patients were recruited, 16 of whom served as controls and received only NPWT, whilst 12 received NPWT&ALBC. Both groups underwent wound repair surgery following the treatments. Blood samples were obtained to detect infections and inflammation. Wound tissue samples were also collected before and after the intervention to observe changes in inflammation, vascular structure and collagen through tissue staining. Compared with the NPWT group, the NPWT&ALBC group exhibited a superior wound bed, which was characterised by reduced inflammation infiltration and enhanced collagen expression. Immunostaining revealed a decrease in IL‐6 levels and an increase in α‐SMA, CD68, CD206 and collagen I expression. Western blot analysis demonstrated that NPWT&ALBC led to a decrease in inflammation levels and an increase in vascularization and collagen content. NPWT&ALBC therapy tends to form a wound bed with increased vascularization and M2 macrophage polarisation, which may contribute to DFUs wound healing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Murraya koenigii leaves are widely used as a spice and also have several biological activities. The major active constituents are carbazole alkaloids. Quantitation by HPLC or HPTLC requires pure marker compounds, whereas nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy can be used as a quantitative technique without the requirement of a pure marker compound. An alkaloid-rich fraction was prepared from the leaves and a validated qNMR method was developed for the quantitation of nine carbazole alkaloids, namely mahanimbine, girinimbine, koenimbine, koenine, kurrayam, mukonicine, isomahanimbine, euchristine B and bismahanine. One of the major compounds, koenimbine, was isolated and quantified by HPTLC to compare the results. The results obtained by qNMR were compared with the reported yields of these compounds. Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness and safety of seahorse (Hippocampus comes L.) extract on hematological profile and body weight on rats induced by depo medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA). Materials and Methods: Thirty adult male Sprague-Dawley rats with 200-250 gm and 8 weeks old. All rats were intramuscularly administered 1.25 mg/kg BW DMPA Merck Depo Geston at 150 mg/3 ml. The animals were divided into five main groups (6 each), consisting of aquadest (G1), CMC 1% (G2), seahorse extract (SE) dose 150 mg/kg BW (G3), 225 mg/kg BW (G4), and 300 mg/kg BW (G5). All rats were weighed until the end of the treatment week. Results: The hematological profile and body weight of the group given SE tended to increase compared to the group not given extract; however, our hematological profile and body weight were in the normal range for rats. Sustained hyperlipidemia contributes to fatty liver and liver cirrhosis. Red yeast rice (RYR) effectively improved the lipid profile; however, the effects of RYR on the risk of incident liver cirrhosis remain to be elucidated. We aimed to evaluate the beneficial effects of RYR use on the risk and outcome of liver cirrhosis. Patients and methods: We identified 156,587 adults who had newly diagnosed hyperlipidemia in 2010– 2016 from health insurance data in this retrospective cohort study. Using propensity score matching, we selected 34,367 patients who used RYR and 34,367 patients who used lovastatin. Events of incident liver cirrhosis that occurred in the two cohorts during the follow-up period of 2010– 2019 were identified. We calculated adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (Cis) for liver cirrhosis risk associated with RYR use in the multiple Cox proportional hazard model. Results: Compared with patients who used lovastatin, patients who used RYR had a decreased risk of liver cirrhosis (HR 0.60, 95% CI 0.57– 0.63), and this association was significant in various subgroups. A biological gradient relationship between the frequency of RYR use and decreased liver cirrhosis was observed (p for trend < 0.0001). Reduced postcirrhosis jaundice (HR 0.56, 95% CI 0.43– 0.72), ascites (HR 0.37, 95% CI 0.28– 0.50), hepatic coma (HR 0.36, 95% CI 0.26– 0.50), and mortality (HR 0.48, 95% CI 0.38– 0.61) were also associated with RYR use. Conclusion: We demonstrated the beneficial effects of RYR use on the risk and outcome of liver cirrhosis; however, the lack of compliance data should be considered. Introduction Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, is gaining increasing attention due to its potential health benefits, especially in the context of its immunomodulatory and anticancer properties. Aim of the study The aim of this review was to discuss recent findings regarding the impact of curcumin on the immune system and its potential applications in anticancer therapy. Materials and methods The paper was created based on the Pubmed and Scholar database. The literature was reviewed using the keywords: „curcumin", „immunomodulatory effects", „cytokines", „anticancer", „apoptosis", „cell proliferation", „radiosensitizing". Results Studies have confirmed that curcumin, especially in the form of nanocurcumin, exhibits significant immunomodulatory effects. It reduces the number of Th17 cells, increases Treg cells, and regulates the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which is crucial in controlling autoimmune reactions. Furthermore, it demonstrates anticancer activity by inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, stimulating apoptosis, and enhancing the effectiveness of anticancer therapy. Conclusions Despite promising results, further research on the safety of curcumin therapy, particularly in the long term, is essential. Limitations associated with bioavailability and pharmacokinetics suggest the need for the development of formulations with increased bioavailability to maximize the potential benefits of curcumin in the treatment of various disorders. The most frequent complication of diabetes mellitus (DM) is diabetic ulcer, with a prevalence of 15-20% and an amputation rate of 30%. There is no effective and easy-to-apply treatment for acute-phase open wounds of patients with DM to prevent their development into ulcers. Monascus purpureus jmbA Rice (MJR) from Jember is superior to similar products from other regions in Indonesia because it has the highest monacolin content with an antioxidant effect. The study aimed to prove the effectiveness of MJR gel in accelerating the healing of acute wounds of diabetic rats. This true experimental laboratory research was a posttest-only control group design. We used Rattus norvegicus Wistar rats, 3-4 months old, weighing 200-300 grams. The 36 rats were divided into four treatment groups. The control group was given a gel of MJR 0%. The positive control group was given the antibiotic and placenta extract gel combination, and treatment groups T1 and T2 were given gel MJR40% and MJR80%. Excision wounds were made as deep as the subcutaneous layer on the back of the hyperglycemic rat. Four rats were terminated from each group on days 4, 11, and 18, and skin tissue was taken to observe the percentage of wound area shrinkage, epithelial thickness, and fibroblast count and analyze the levels of hydroxyproline and MDA. The MJR80% group had the highest percentage of wound area shrinkage, epithelial thickness, and fibroblast count compared to other groups. MDA levels decreased with increasing days in all treatment groups. Hydroxyproline levels increased on days 4 and 11, then decreased on day 18 in all treatment groups. We conclude that the 80% MJR group revealed the best acute diabetic wound healing. It was not statistically different from the combination of antibiotic and placenta extract gel treatment group. According to availability of natural products, lower cost and less toxic effects compared to synthetic drugs make them an easy and excellent choice in the treatment of diseases. Silymarin "milk thistle" has been used for many years. Silymarin has antioxidant, anti-lipid peroxidation, anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties. These effects are due to the addition of endogenous antioxidant enzymes, inhibition of neutrophil infiltration, and a reduction in serum malondialdehyde as an end product of myocardial lipid peroxide. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of silymarin may also have a protective role against carcinogens. Studies have shown that Silymaran can have protective effects against hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and cardiotoxicity caused by chemical agents. A notable feature is the prowess of silymarin in shielding against reperfusion injury and inflammation, sustained by its unwavering support of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant functions. The Seahorse Hippocampus comes L. (HC) has been used in traditional medicine and has pharmacological activities known as a powerful aphrodisiac. Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) is a contraceptive drug that can reduce testosterone levels, as happened to hypogonadism. There has not been much research on HC extracts (HCE) for hypogonadism, especially in the histology of testicular cell study. This study investigates the effect of HCE on spermatogenic cell count and Fas L assay of apoptotic germ cells after DMPA treatment in rats. Thirty male SpragueDawley (SD) rats were induced with DMPA 1.25 mg/kg at weeks 0 and 12. Animals were randomly grouped by: distilled water (G1), Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC) 1% (G2), HCE dose 150 mg/kg (G3), HCE dose 225 mg/kg (G4), HCE 300 mg/kg (G5), gavage every day for 7-18 weeks. The testis was obtained, and tissue was processed with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Data were assessed by manually counting cells into the formulation and determining the H-score to calculate Fas L protein expression. An enhancement of the preleptotene and pachytene spermatocyte population at G3-G4 dose levels was found. Leydig cells also showed an increase at the G4 dose level. However, the apoptotic cell H-score was reduced at the G4 dose level. The reported HCE 225 mg/kg dose can improve reproductive function after DMPA treatment for 18 weeks in male rats. Background. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are an important drug class for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). Despite existing studies on the bioequivalence of original and generic NSAIDs, comparative studies related to their clinical efficacy and safety are limited. The purpose of the study was to compare the clinical efficacy and safety of the original and generic forms of etoricoxib in patients with knee OA. Materials and methods. In an open, comparative, randomized, multicenter study, 150 patients with knee OA were examined: group I - 50 persons who received the original etoricoxib (60 mg/d for 10 days), groups II and III - 50 subjects each who received generic etoricoxib (60 mg/d for 10 days). The effectiveness of the treatment was evaluated using the four-component visual analog scale (VAS), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), and the Lequesne index before the start of therapy and on the 10th day. Assessment of tolerability and safety was studied by controlling adverse events based on clinical and laboratory indicators. Results. The use of the original and generic forms of etoricoxib in patients with knee OA led to positive dynamics of pain syndrome and functional activity, while the dynamics of indices were the greatest in the case of using the original etoricoxib (VAS: group I - 50.0 [35.4-60.0] %, group II - 29.1 [16.7-55.0] % and III - 28.6 [14.3-33.3] %). The most pronounced positive dynamics of the pain syndrome against the background of taking the original etoricoxib compared to the generic forms was registered in the subgroup of patients with severe knee pain (VAS > 60 mm). The use of all forms of etoricoxib was safe and did not lead to serious clinical side effects or clinically significant changes in laboratory blood parameters. The highest rates of satisfaction with the treatment by patients and physicians were observed in the case of the original etoricoxib use. Conclusions. The use of the original etoricoxib in patients with knee OA, especially in the presence of severe pain syndrome (VAS > 60 mm) is the most justified and safe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Increasing evidence suggests that multipotent mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) are a promising intervention strategy in treating autoimmune inflammatory diseases. It should be stated that systemic immunoregulation is increasingly recognized among the beneficial effects of MSCs and probiotics in treating morbid autoimmune disorders such as lupus. This study aimed to determine if immunoregulatory probiotics L. rhamnosus or L. delbrueckii can change the immunomodulatory effects of MSCs in lupus-like disease. Methods: Pristane-induced lupus (PIL) mice model was created via intraperitoneal injection of Pristane and then confirmed. Naïve MSCs (N-MSCs) were coincubated with two Lactobacillus strains, rhamnosus (R-MSCs) or delbrueckii (D-MSCs), and/or a combination of both (DR-MSCs) for 48 h, then administrated intravenously in separate groups. Negative (PBS-treated normal mice) and positive control groups (PBS-treated lupus mice) were also investigated. At the end of the study, flow cytometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) analysis were used to determine the percentage of Th cell subpopulations in splenocytes and the level of their master cytokines in sera, respectively. Moreover, lupus nephritis was investigated and compared. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for multiple comparisons. Results: Abnormalities in serum levels of anti-dsDNA antibodies, creatinine, and urine proteinuria were significantly suppressed by MSCs transplantation, whereas engrafted MSCs coincubation with both L. strains did a lesser effect on anti-dsDNA antibodies. L. rhamnosus significantly escalated the ability of MSCs to scale down the inflammatory cytokines (IFN-ɣ, IL-17), while L. delbrueckii significantly elevated the capacity of MSCs to scale down the percentage of Th cell subpopulations. However, incubation with both strains induced MSCs with augmented capacity in introducing inflammatory cytokines (IFN-ɣ, IL-17). Strikingly, R-MSCs directly restored the serum level of TGF-β more effectively and showed more significant improvement in disease parameters than N-MSCs. These results suggest that R-MSCs significantly attenuate lupus disease by further skew the immune phenotype of MSCs toward increased immunoregulation. Conclusions: Results demonstrated that Lactobacillus strains showed different capabilities in training/inducing new abilities in MSCs, in such a way that pretreated MSCs with L. rhamnosus might benefit the treatment of lupus-like symptoms, given their desirable properties. Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of metabolic factors, including low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. Vernonia amygdalina (VA) leaves have been documented for their anti-cholesterol properties. The purpose of this study to evaluate ethanol extract of VA leaves in rising HDL-C levels in the MetS model. Methods: An experimental study using pre-and post-test design was conducted using 30 male Wistar rats divided into five groups randomly. KN group served as the control group. KP group was the MetS model without ethanol extract administration. Meanwhile, P1, P2, and P3 were MetS models and were administered ethanol extract of VA leaves administration (50mg/kg, 100mg/kg, and 150 mg/kg) for 28 days. The data were analysed using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA (α=0,05). Results: This study discovered that administering the extract in P1, P2, and P3 significantly improved HDL levels. Furthermore, increasing the dose resulted in significantly greater HDL levels. VA leaves contain phytochemicals that have impacts on cholesterol levels in the blood. Flavonoids and tannin inhibit ester cholesterol formation. Terpenoid and flavonoid hinder HMG-CoA. Saponin contributes to free cholesterol transporter, reducing oxidative stress and increasing LDL receptors. Lastly, vitamin C raises catabolism levels and clearance LDL. Background: Diabetic nephropathy (DN) represents a microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). Despite the increasing incidence and prevalence of DN, conservative therapy only reduces risk factors and hemodialysis. This research aimed at finding DN animal model that can be tried to be given an alternative treatment. DN was assessed by evaluating body weight, blood glucose, proteinuria, and kidney histopathology. Methods: Wistar novergicus male rats were induced with 75 mg of streptozotocin per kg BW to obtain a diabetic nephropathy model. The 18 rats were divided into 2 groups consisting of 9 rats in the negative group (G0) and 9 rats in the positive group (G1). Indicators of body weight, blood glucose levels, urine protein and kidney histopathology determine the incidents of DN animal models. Result: Rats induced using 75 mg of streptozotocin per kg body weight (BW) indicated weight loss, increased blood glucose, urine protein levels and histopathological features of DN. Conclusion: Seventy-five mg of streptozotocin per kg BW can induce a diabetic nephropathy animal model in Wistar norvegicus rats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Moringa oleifera leaves contain very rich compounds that include nutrients, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and many other compounds with numerous benefits for humans. This literature review discusses the benefits of Moringa oleifera leaves in preventing anemia. Methods: This review is a narrative review using the research of international journal sources from databased, national journals in the last ten years. The keywords anemia, hemoglobin, and Moringa oleifera/M. oleifera leaves were used. Based on the 35 journals reviewed, 12 studies were included in this review. Results: The literature results show a positive relationship between Moringa leaf extract and an increase in the value of hemoglobin levels, with a p-value <0.05. However, this review found other benefits of Moringa oleifera leaf extract, such as improving the morphology of damaged red blood cells and antioxidants. It has become an alternative in the treatment of anemia. Conclusions: The nutrient content in Moringa leaf extract plays a significant part in increasing hemoglobin levels in the blood. Other factors that can increase the risk of anemia are micronutrient deficiency, infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria), worm infections, and genetic disorders. (25) We recommend conducting an experimental study to compare two groups given Moringa leaf extract and multi-micronutrient tablets to get more effective results in lowering the prevalence of anemia. The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate an antioxidant body gel scrub formulation including Areca seed extract and Areca beads. The Areca seed ethanol extract had an IC50 of 183.30 µg/ml, a radical scavenging activity of 49.196%, and a total phenolic content of 21.21 ± 2.32 µg/ml. With a pH of 6.98 at 25 °C and a viscosity of 5,590.457 cP, the optimized formulation contained 1% w/w Areca seed extract, 5% w/w polyvinyl alcohol, 0.5% w/w Carbomer Ultrez 21, and 5% w/w Areca microbeads. The formulation had a radical scavenging efficiency of 68.66%. Stability tests were carried out under accelerated heating cooling conditions at 40 ± 2 °C, 75 % RH for 48 hours, followed by 4 °C for 48 hours each cycle for 24 days (6 cycles) and 30 days for 4 °C and 30 ± 2 °C, 75% RH, and no significant changes in physical or chemical properties were observed. Objective: The HLA‐B*1502 allele is strongly associated with carbamazepine (CBZ)‐induced Stevens–Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) in the Han Chinese population. This study investigated the impact of HLA‐B*1502 screening on CBZ utilization and rates of severe cutaneous allergic reactions (SCARs) and SJS/TEN over time in Taiwan, where screening for HLA‐B*1502 genotyping before prescribing CBZ was reimbursed in June 2010. Methods: Using the Taiwan National Health Insurance Research Database, we analyzed 13 277 457 episodes of seeking treatment for epilepsy or neuralgia between 2000 and 2017. Episodes were categorized into quarters based on treatment time. Propensity score‐based stabilized weighting (PSSW) ensured well‐balanced covariates. The difference in 3‐month SCAR and SJS/TEN rates between phase 2 (2011–2017) and phase 1 (2000–2009) was examined using a one‐sample Z‐test. Pearson correlation coefficients assessed the association between screening rate, the number of CBZ users and nonusers, and SCAR and SJS/TEN rates after HLA‐B*1502 genotyping. Results: CBZ prescriptions reduced from 7% (2000–2003) to 6% (2004–2010) and 4% (2011–2017). The screening rates of CBZ nonusers and CBZ users increased from 0%,.5% in 2011 to.8%, 16% in 2017, respectively. After PSSW, the mean 3‐month SCAR incidence rates (per 10 000 episodes) significantly decreased from phase 1 to phase 2 for CBZ users (6.91 vs. 3.09, p <.0001) and nonusers (1.96 vs. 1.65, p <.0001). SJS/TEN incidence rates (per 10 000 episodes) significantly decreased from phase 1 to phase 2 for CBZ users (2.94 vs. 1.93, p <.0001) but not for nonusers (.71 vs..74, p =.1492). In phase 2, SCAR incidence rates were significantly and negatively correlated with the screening rate for both CBZ users (r = −.38, p =.0342) and nonusers (r = −.80, p <.001). No significant correlation was found between SJS/TEN incidence rates and screening rates. Introduction: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease that primarily affects young women. SLE has no recognized etiology but it is believed to be triggered by a number of factors, including genetic predisposition, hormonal influences, and environmental conditions. Dysbiosis in the gut microbiota has emerged as a potential mechanism connecting the intestinal microbiome to the breakdown of self‐tolerance and chronic inflammation. This review aims to investigate the role of probiotics in modulating the gut microbiome and their potential therapeutic benefits in managing SLE, providing insights for future research and clinical practice. Methods: We conducted a thorough search for papers published up to June 2023 in databases such as PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Library. Results: The systematic review identified 22 articles examining the effects of probiotics on SLE. These studies—which include in vivo tests, in vitro research, and clinical trials—indicate that probiotics may be effective against inflammation, and improve immunological responses and metabolic profiles in SLE patients. Most in vivo studies were assessed as medium to high quality, while the randomized controlled trial was deemed of high quality. Conclusion: According to the findings of our systematic review, probiotics may be used in conjunction with other treatments to manage SLE. Background: Murraya koenigii (L.) Spreng. has several well-established nutritional and therapeutic applications. Following our desire to investigate the global and scientific community's knowledge of medicinal plants, this study was intended to examine the evolution of knowledge related to M. Koenigii studies. The primary purpose of this paper is to clarify the status of these studies, investigate their methods, findings, and trends, and define their significance within the current research landscape. Results: To achieve these goals, bibliometric analysis was conducted, retrieving, and analyzing 934 original articles published between 1965 and 2023 based on Scopus Dataset results. Data were exported as CVS (comma-separated values) and BibTex files and analyzed using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer software. Articles from 502 sources have been identified, averaging 21.8 citations per document. The research in this plant has had exponential growth (R2 = 0.77). International co-authorship is 13.08%. India and Malaysia are the top publishing countries. Debajo, A.C. (Nigeria), Phatak,R.S. (India), and Sukari,M.A. (Malaysia) are the most productive authors. The top source is the Journal of Ethnopharmacology. "Green synthesis," "nanoparticles," "oxidative stress," "Asian citrus psyllid," "apoptosis," "antimicrobial," "anticancer," "Chromatographic profile," "bioactive compounds," and "alkaloids" are strongly related to the current trends in M. Koenigii research. Regarding the specialized topics, M. Koenigii's study concentrated on using this plant as an antioxidant agent in manufacturing and biological systems. Dynamic subjects like chromatographic profiles, essential oils, and Asian citrus psyllids were included in the motor theme. Background: Impaired inflammation and vascularization are common reasons for delayed diabetic wound healing. Nanoparticles (NPs)-in-nanofibers composites can manage diabetic wounds. A multifunctional scaffold was developed based on tadalafil (TDF)-loaded NPs incorporated into polyvinyl alcohol/Withania somnifera extract nanofibers. Materials & methods: TDF-loaded NPs were prepared and fully characterized in terms of their physicochemical properties. Extract of ashwagandha was prepared and a blend composed of TDF-loaded NPs, herbal extract and polyvinyl alcohol was used to prepare the whole composite. Results: The whole composite exhibited improved wound closure in a diabetic rat model in terms of reduced inflammation and enhanced angiogenesis. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects women of childbearing age and is characterized by the damage to multiple target organs. The pathogenesis of SLE is complex, and its etiology mainly involves genetic and environmental factors. At present, there is still a lack of effective means to cure SLE. In recent years, growing evidence has shown that gut microbiota, as an environmental factor, triggers autoimmunity through potential mechanisms including translocation and molecular mimicry, leads to immune dysregulation, and contributes to the development of SLE. Dietary intervention, drug therapy, probiotics supplement, fecal microbiome transplantation and other ways to modulate gut microbiota appear to be a potential treatment for SLE. In this review, the dysbiosis of gut microbiota in SLE, potential mechanisms linking gut microbiota and SLE, and immune dysregulation associated with gut microbiota in SLE are summarized. Acacia concinna is abundantly available in southern Asian rainforests. The fruits of this plant were employed as cleansing agents in various herbal shampoos and used as an expectorant in traditional treatment. The pods of this plant contain acacic acid based saponins. The plant holds the surfactant property due to the presence of saponins it is ideal to use in skin and transdermal preparations. However, details of the dermal toxicity of Acacia concinna pods are still not reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vivo acute dermal toxicity of Acacia concinna pods extract at a dose of 2,000 mg/kg body weight in Wistar rats. According to OECD Guidelines 402 for acute toxicity protocols, the acute dermal toxicity of Acacia concinna pods extract was examined in rats. To determine the median lethal dose (LD50) of the extract, the body weight, likelihood of death, general indications, and behavior activity measures were monitored over the course of 14 days. All the animals in the treatment group were euthanized at the end of the study. The LD50 was found to be >2,000 mg/kg body weight. There was a significant weight increase (p<0.05). No mortality was recorded in 14 days study period. A single dose of 2000 mg/kg of body weight didn't produce any toxic signs in the study animals. A single dermal dose of Acacia concinna pods extract had no toxic effects like mortality, clinical signs, body weight changes, and gross findings in female rats at a dose of 2000 mg/kg of body weight. Subsequently, the preparation can be used as a natural surfactant or excipient in pharmaceutical dosage forms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose of Review: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by various autoantibodies and multi-organ. Microbiota dysbiosis in the gut, skin, oral, and other surfaces has a significant impact on SLE development. This article summarizes relevant research and provides new microbiome-related strategies for exploring the mechanisms and treating patients with SLE. Recent Findings: SLE patients have disruptions in multiple microbiomes, with the gut microbiota (bacteria, viruses, and fungi) and their metabolites being the most thoroughly researched. This dysbiosis can promote SLE progression through mechanisms such as the leaky gut, molecular mimicry, and epigenetic regulation. Summary: Notwithstanding study constraints on the relationship between microbiota and SLE, specific interventions targeting the gut microbiota, such as probiotics, dietary management, and fecal microbiota transplantation, have emerged as promising SLE therapeutics. Purpose: Although doxorubicin chemotherapy is commonly applied for treating different malignant tumors, cardiotoxicity induced by this chemotherapeutic agent restricts its clinical use. The use of silymarin/silibinin may mitigate the doxorubicin-induced cardiac adverse effects. For this aim, the potential cardioprotective effects of silymarin/silibinin against the doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity were systematically reviewed. Methods: In this study, we performed a systematic search in accordance with PRISMA guideline for identifying all relevant studies on "the role of silymarin/silibinin against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity" in different electronic databases up to June 2022. Sixty-one articles were obtained and screened based on the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Thirteen eligible papers were finally included in this review. Results: According to the echocardiographic and electrocardiographic findings, the doxorubicin-treated groups presented a significant reduction in ejection fraction, tissue Doppler peak mitral annulus systolic velocity, and fractional shortening as well as bradycardia, prolongation of QT and QRS interval. However, these echocardiographic abnormalities were obviously improved in the silymarin plus doxorubicin groups. As well, the doxorubicin administration led to induce histopathological and biochemical changes in the cardiac cells/tissue; in contrast, the silymarin/silibinin co-administration could mitigate these induced alterations (for most of the cases). Conclusion: According to the findings, it was found that the co-administration of silymarin/silibinin alleviates the doxorubicin-induced cardiac adverse effects. Silymarin/silibinin exerts its cardioprotective effects via antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic activities, and other mechanisms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
