Recent studies have shown that deep learning (DL) models can skillfully forecast El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events more than 1.5 years in advance. However, concerns regarding the reliability of predictions made by DL methods persist, including potential overfitting issues and lack of interpretability. Here, we propose ResoNet, a DL model that combines CNN (convolutional neural network) and transformer architectures. This hybrid architecture enables our model to adequately capture local sea surface temperature anomalies as well as long-range inter-basin interactions across oceans. We show that ResoNet can robustly predict ENSO at lead times of 19 months, thus outperforming existing approaches in terms of the forecast horizon. According to an explainability method applied to ResoNet predictions of El Niño and La Niña from 1- to 18-month leads, we find that it predicts the Niño-3.4 index based on multiple physically reasonable mechanisms, such as the recharge oscillator concept, seasonal footprint mechanism, and Indian Ocean capacitor effect. Moreover, we demonstrate for the first time that the asymmetry between El Niño and La Niña development can be captured by ResoNet. Our results could help to alleviate skepticism about applying DL models for ENSO prediction and encourage more attempts to discover and predict climate phenomena using AI methods. Aerogels are essential and effective materials for oily pollution adsorption and recovery. This work described a hydrophobic modified cellulose aerogel using waste palm leaf and its oil adsorption mechanism. By chemical vapor deposition, Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) was employed as a hydrophobic modifier for aerogel of waste palm leaf cellulose at 80 °C for 5 h, and the modified aerogel demonstrated exceptional and stable hydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 132.4° that can still be maintained above 120° after two months of air exposure. After 10 adsorption and extrusion cycles, kerosene adsorption capacity can still reach over 18 times its weight with good regeneration and reuse performance. The kinetic analysis found that the pseudo-second order model was more appropriate for the aerogel’s oil absorption process, including mainly physical adsorption at the beginning and the following chemical adsorption. Owing to its low cost, hydrophobicity, high absorption capacity, and favorable reusability, this aerogel is expected to be used in oils, organic solvent spill cleanup, and oil/water separation fields. Vibration and rotation represent two common fluid–structure-interaction phenomena, which can occur independently or concurrently. While extensive research has been conducted on individual vibration/rotation cases, there is relatively limited literature on coupled cases. However, it is crucial to recognize that coupled responses, such as those observed in falling leaves, are more prevalent in both natural occurrences and engineering scenarios. Hence, this study aims to investigate the influence of cross-flow vibrations on the flow-induced rotations of an elastically mounted cylinder-plate system. A broad range of rotational reduced velocities, spanning Uθ = 2–18, is examined across four distinct vibrational reduced velocities, namely Uy = 5, 8, 12, and 18. Numerical results indicated that a bifurcation phenomenon, wherein the cylinder-plate deflects to a non-zero equilibrium position, occurs at relatively high values of Uθ and Uy. Four distinct response modes have been identified: vibration-dominated, rotation-dominated, augmentation (VIV-like), and augmentation (galloping-like) mode. These response modes exert significant influence on phase angles between rotary angle and displacement as well as vortex shedding modes. In the rotation-dominated region, VIV-like region, and galloping-like region, phase angles exhibit a continuous decreasing trend, a consistent level of 180° and 90°, respectively. Transitions between vibration and rotation responses result in sharp increases in phase angles. The wake flow in the rotation-dominated mode and VIV-like mode demonstrates a 2S mode (two single vortices), while the vibration-dominated mode is characterized by a predominant 2T mode (two triplets of vortices). In the galloping-like region, large amplitudes lead to the increase in numbers of vortices, presenting 2S, 2S*, and 2P (two pairs of vortices) mode at Uy = 8, and 2P, P + S (one pair and one single vortices) and 2P+S (two pairs and one single vortices) mode at Uy = 12, where the 2S* mode consists of two single vortices, each exhibiting a tendency to split into two smaller vortices as they migrate downward. The mechanism behind the notable amplification of rotation/vibration responses is elucidated. Apart from the pressure difference induced by vortex shedding, the additional driving force resulting from relative motion in the transverse direction contributes to the total torsional force, thereby leading to significant rotary responses. The electrolysis of water for hydrogen production is currently receiving significant attention due to its advantageous features such as non-toxicity, safety, and environmental friendliness. This is especially crucial considering the urgent need for clean energy. However, the current method of electrolyzing water to produce hydrogen largely relies on expensive metal catalysts, significantly increasing the costs associated with its development. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) is considered the most promising alternative to platinum for electrocatalyzing the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) due to its outstanding catalytic efficiency and robust stability. However, the practical application of this material is hindered by its low conductivity and limited exposure of active sites. MoS2/SQDs composite materials were synthesized using a hydrothermal technique to deposit SQDs onto MoS2. These composite materials were subsequently employed as catalysts for the HER. Research findings indicate that incorporating SQDs can enhance electron transfer rates and increase the active surface area of MoS2, which is crucial for achieving outstanding catalytic performance in the HER. The MoS2/SQDs electrocatalyst exhibits outstanding performance in the HER when tested in a 0.5 M H2SO4 solution. It achieves a remarkably low overpotential of 204 mV and a Tafel slope of 65.82 mV dec−1 at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. Moreover, during continuous operation for 24 h, the initial current density experiences only a 17% reduction, indicating high stability. This study aims to develop an efficient and cost-effective electrocatalyst for water electrolysis. Apicomplexan parasites harbor a complex endomembrane system as well as unique secretory organelles. These complex cellular structures require an elaborate vesicle trafficking system, which includes Rab GTPases and their regulators, to assure the biogenesis and secretory of the organelles. Here we exploit the model apicomplexan organism Toxoplasma gondii that encodes a family of Rab GTPase Activating Proteins, TBC (Tre-2/Bub2/Cdc16) domain-containing proteins. Functional profiling of these proteins in tachyzoites reveals that TBC9 is the only essential regulator, which is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) in T. gondii strains. Detailed analyses demonstrate that TBC9 is required for normal distribution of proteins targeting to the ER, and the Golgi apparatus in the parasite, as well as for the normal formation of daughter inner membrane complexes (IMCs). Pull-down assays show a strong protein interaction between TBC9 and specific Rab GTPases (Rab11A, Rab11B, and Rab2), supporting the role of TBC9 in daughter IMC formation and early vesicular transport. Thus, this study identifies the only essential TBC domain-containing protein TBC9 that regulates early vesicular transport and IMC formation in T. gondii and potentially in closely related protists. An acute bacterial infection called avian spirochetosis is spread by ticks to a variety of birds. Clinical symptoms can vary greatly and are frequently non-specific. To diagnose a condition, the infectious spirochete must be detected. Here, we structure an epidemic model for the transmission of avian spirochetosis to visualize the interaction between tick and bird populations. The recommended dynamics of avian spirochetosis is illustrated with the help of fractional framework. We inspected the steady-states of the system of the avian spirochetosis for the stability analysis. The next-generation technique is used to evaluate the model's reproduction parameter R 0. The infection-free and endemic steady-state of avian spirochetosis were shown to be locally asymptotically stable under the specified conditions. Through mathematical skills, the positivity of solutions is determined. Additionally, evidence supporting the existence and uniqueness of the avian spirochetosis framework solution has been shown. We conduct modified simulations of the suggested avian spirochetosis system with different input factors to study the complex phenomena of avian spirochetosis under the effect of numerous input parameters. Our outcomes illustrate the significance and plausibility of fractional parameter, and they also suggest that this input parameter may adequately account for these kinds of observations. Third-generation sequencing (TGS) technologies have revolutionized genome science in the past decade. However, the long-read data produced by TGS platforms suffer from a much higher error rate than that of the previous technologies, thus complicating the downstream analysis. Several error correction tools for long-read data have been developed; these tools can be categorized into hybrid and self-correction tools. So far, these two types of tools are separately investigated, and their interplay remains understudied. Here, we integrate hybrid and self-correction methods for high-quality error correction. Our procedure leverages the inter-similarity between long-read data and high-accuracy information from short reads. We compare the performance of our method and state-of-the-art error correction tools on Escherichia coli and Arabidopsis thaliana datasets. The result shows that the integration approach outperformed the existing error correction methods and holds promise for improving the quality of downstream analyses in genomic research. To evaluate the impact of obesity on various outcomes in patients undergoing minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) surgeries. PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were screened for studies reporting outcomes in obese and nonobese patients undergoing TLIF surgeries. Studies reporting operative time, estimated blood loss, length of hospital stay, incidence of pseudoarthrosis, Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) scores, pain scores (Visual Analog Scale, VAS), and PROMIS PF scores were included. A qualitative and quantitative analysis was performed to calculate mean differences or odds ratios (ORs) using random-effects models. Fourteen good-quality studies were included in this review, with a combined sample size of 4,889 participants. The analysis revealed that patients with obesity had slightly longer operative times compared to patients with normal weight, with a mean difference of 14.87 minutes, though not significant. Similarly, morbidly obese patients had a mean difference of 21.44 minutes in operative time. Estimated blood loss was comparable in both groups. However, morbidly obese patients had longer hospital stays, with a mean difference of 8.18 days and obese patients have 20% higher odds of experiencing complications compared to nonobese patients. The incidence of pseudoarthrosis, ODI scores, or pain scores (VAS back and leg) were similar in obese and normal weight patients. Obesity, particularly morbid obesity, may have an impact on certain outcomes in patients undergoing minimally invasive TLIF surgeries. Heterogeneous computing has been developing continuously in the field of high-performance computing because of its high performance and energy efficiency. More and more accelerators have emerged, such as GPU, FPGA, DSP, AI accelerator, and so on. Usually, the accelerator is connected to the host CPU as a peripheral device to form a tightly coupled heterogeneous computing node, and then, a parallel system is constructed by multiple nodes. This organization is computationally efficient, but not flexible. When new accelerators appear, it is difficult to join the system that has been built. At the hardware level, we create an array of accelerators and connect them to the existing system through a high-speed network. At the software level, we dynamically organize computing resources from various arrays to build a virtual heterogeneous computing node. This approach also includes a standard programming environment. Therefore, it is a more flexible, elastic, and scalable heterogeneous computing organization. In this paper, a supernode OpenCL implementation is proposed for hybrid parallel computing systems, in which virtual supernodes can be dynamically constructed between different computing arrays, and a standard OpenCL environment is implemented based on RDMA communication of high-speed interconnection, which can be combined with the system-level MPI programming environment, thereby realizing the large-scale parallel computing of the hybrid array. SNCL is compatible with existing MPI/OpenCL programs without the need for additional modifications. Experiments show that the runtime overhead of the supernode OpenCL environment is very low, and it is suitable for deploying applications with high computing density and large data scale between different arrays to utilize their computing power without affecting scalability. Infectious disease cryptosporidiosis is caused by the cryptosporidium parasite, a type of parasitic organism. It is spread through the ingestion of contaminated water, food, or fecal matter from infected animals or humans. The control becomes difficult because the parasite may remain in the environment for a long period. In this work, we constructed an epidemic model for the infection of cryptosporidiosis in a fractional framework with strong and weak immunity concepts. In our analysis, we utilize the well-known next-generation matrix technique to evaluate the reproduction number of the recommended model, indicated by R0. As R0<1 , our results show that the disease-free steady-state is locally asymptotically stable; in other cases, it becomes unstable. Our emphasis is on the dynamical behavior and the qualitative analysis of cryptosporidiosis. Moreover, the fixed point theorem of Schaefer and Banach has been utilized to investigate the existence and uniqueness of the solution. We identify suitable conditions for the Ulam-Hyers stability of the proposed model of the parasitic infection. The impact of the determinants on the sickness caused by cryptosporidiosis is highlighted by the examination of the solution pathways using a novel numerical technique. Numerical investigation is conducted on the solution pathways of the system while varying various input factors. Urban areas, characterized by dense anthropogenic activities, are among the primary sources of nitrogen oxides (NOx), impacting global atmospheric conditions and human health. Satellite observations, renowned for their continuity and global coverage, have emerged as an effective means to quantify pollutant emissions. Previous bottom-up emission inventories exhibit considerable discrepancies and lack a comprehensive and reliable database. To develop a high-precision emission inventory for individual cities, this study utilizes high-resolution single-pass observations from the TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) on the Sentinel-5 Precursor satellite to quantify the emission rates of NOx. The Exponentially Modified Gaussian (EMG) model is validated for estimating NOx emission strength using real plumes observed in satellite single-pass observations, demonstrating good consistency with existing inventories. Introduction: Spatial changes of amine metabolites and histopathology of the whole brain help to reveal the mechanism of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and treatment. Methods: A newly developed liquid microjunction surface sampling–tandem mass tag–ultra performance liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry technique is applied to profile brain amine metabolites in five brain regions after impact‐induced TBI at the subacute stage. H&E, Nissl, and immunofluorescence staining are performed to spatially correlate microscopical changes to metabolic alterations. Then, bioinformatics, molecular docking, ELISA, western blot, and immunofluorescence are integrated to uncover the mechanism of Xuefu Zhuyu decoction (XFZYD) against TBI. Results: Besides the hippocampus and cortex, the thalamus, caudate‐putamen, and fiber tracts also show differentiated metabolic changes between the Sham and TBI groups. Fourteen amine metabolites (including isomers such as L‐leucine and L‐isoleucine) are significantly altered in specific regions. The metabolic changes are well matched with the degree of neuronal damage, glia activation, and neurorestoration. XFZYD reverses the dysregulation of several amine metabolites, such as hippocampal Lys‐Phe/Phe‐Lys and dopamine. Also, XFZYD enhances post‐TBI angiogenesis in the hippocampus and the thalamus. Conclusion: This study reveals the local amine‐metabolite and histological changes in the subacute stage of TBI. With the development of deep learning in the field of computer vision, convolutional neural network models and attention mechanisms have been widely applied in SAR image target recognition. The improvement of convolutional neural network attention in existing SAR image target recognition focuses on spatial and channel information but lacks research on the relationship and recognition mechanism between spatial and channel information. In response to this issue, this article proposes a hybrid attention module and introduces a Mixed Attention (MA) mechanism module in the MobileNetV2 network. The proposed MA mechanism fully considers the comprehensive calculation of spatial attention (SPA), channel attention (CHA), and coordinated attention (CA). It can input feature maps for comprehensive weighting to enhance the features of the regions of interest, in order to improve the recognition rate of vehicle targets in SAR images.The superiority of our algorithm was verified through experiments on the MSTAR dataset. By precisely controlling the distance between two train sets, virtual coupling (VC) enables flexible coupling and decoupling in urban rail transit. However, relying on train-to-train communication for obtaining the train distance can pose a safety risk in case of communication malfunctions. In this paper, a distance-estimation framework based on monocular vision is proposed. First, key structure features of the target train are extracted by an object-detection neural network, whose strategies include an additional detection head in the feature pyramid, labeling of object neighbor areas, and semantic filtering, which are utilized to improve the detection performance for small objects. Then, an optimization process based on multiple key structure features is implemented to estimate the distance between the two train sets in VC. For the validation and evaluation of the proposed framework, experiments were implemented on Beijing Subway Line 11. The results show that for train sets with distances between 20 m and 100 m, the proposed framework can achieve a distance estimation with an absolute error that is lower than 1 m and a relative error that is lower than 1.5%, which can be a reliable backup for communication-based VC operations. Background: Exosomes (Exos) generated from bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are elucidated to enhance cutaneous wound healing in mice models of diabetes mellitus (DM). While underlying mechanisms remain unknown. Methods: Next-generation sequencing (NGS) was used to examine changes in circRNA expression levels following Exo treatment. Luciferase assays were used to determine the interactions between RNAs. Immunofluorescence staining was used to examine reactive oxygen species (ROS) in endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) cultured in high glucose (HG) conditions. Therapeutic effects regarding Exos were also examined by immunofluorescence. Results: We found that Exo treatment enhanced cutaneous wound healing significantly. NGS indicated that circ-Snhg11 was involved in Exo-mediated tissue repairing. Downregulation of circ-Snhg11 decreased Exo-mediated therapy responses during wound healing in diabetic mouse. Our luciferase reporter data confirmed that SLC7A11 and miR-144-3p were circ-Snhg11 downstream targets. miR-144-3p overexpression or SLC7A11 knockdown altered the protective effects of circ-Snhg11 upon EPCs exposed to HG conditions. Upregulation of circ-Snhg11 incremented therapy effects of Exo treatment during wound healing in DM mice through enhanced angiogenesis along with a reduction in GPX4-mediated ferroptosis. Conclusions: circ-Snhg11 in BMSC-Exos enhanced SLC7A11/GPX4-mediated anti-ferroptosis signals via miR-144-3p sponging resulting in enhanced diabetic wound healing and improved angiopoiesis. Reproducibility refers to getting bitwise identical floating point results from multiple runs of the same program, is an important basis for debugging or correctness checking in many codes. However the round-off error and non-associativity of floating point makes attaining reproducibility a challenge in large-scale, long-term parallel computing or solving ill conditioned problems. The dgbmv performs general banded matrix-vector multiplication for double precision, is the most basic Level-2 operation in BLAS. First, we designed a reproducible algorithm for banded matrix-vector multiplication repro _ dgbmv based on the technique of error-free transformation. Then the error of the algorithm is analyzed. Second, the algorithm is parallelized into repro _ dgbmv _ thread on ARM and x86 platforms. The numerical test results verify that repro _ dgbmv _ thread is reproducible and has higher accuracy than ordinary dgbmv. In numerical experiments on ARM platform, as the number of threads increases from 1 to 8, the run time of this algorithm is reduced by 5.2–7 times, while the run time of multithreaded dgbmv is only reduced by 2.2–3.8 times. In numerical experiments on x86 platform, as the number of threads increases from 1 to 15, the run time of this algorithm is reduced by 7.7–10.6 times, while the run time of multithreaded dgbmv is only reduced by 4.2–6.8 times. This article discusses a case of polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) with rice body formation in a 4-year-old female patient. The patient presented with painless swelling in the right ankle and left knee, along with limited movement and localized elevated skin temperature. Laboratory tests revealed abnormal levels of C-reactive protein, D-dimer, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Imaging showed extensive abnormal nodular signals in the joints, which were diagnosed as rice body synovitis. The patient was treated with anti-inflammatory medication and showed significant improvement in swelling. Rice body formation is a rare inflammatory disorder associated with systemic disease, and it is suggested to be caused by synovial microinfarcts or fibrin aggregation in the joint cavity. This is the first reported case of polyarticular JIA with rice bodies, and the prognosis is generally good with appropriate treatment. Introduction: There are only four sizes of implantable collamer lens (ICL) available for selection, which cannot completely fit all patients as a result of the discontinuity of ICL sizes. Sizing an optimal ICL and predicting postoperative vault are still unresolved problems. This study aimed to develop and validate innovative data-level data-balancing machine learning-based models for predicting ICL size and postoperative vault. Methods: The patients were randomly assigned to training and internal validation sets in a 4:1 ratio. Feature selection was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Kruskal–Wallis feature importance methods. Traditional linear regression model and machine learning-based models were used. The accuracy of models was assessed using the area under the curve (AUC) and confusion matrix. Results: A total of 564 patients (1127 eyes) were eligible for this study, consisting of 808 eyes in the training set, 202 eyes in the internal validation set, and 117 eyes in the external validation set. Compared with the traditional linear regression method, the machine learning model bagging tree showed the best performance for ICL size selection, with an accuracy of 84.5% (95% confidence interval (CI) 83.2–85.8%), and the AUC ranged from 0.88 to 0.99; the prediction accuracy of 12.1 mm and 13.7 mm ICL sizes was improved by 49% and 59%, respectively. The bagging tree model achieved the best accuracy [90.2%, (95% CI 88.9–91.5%)] for predicting the postoperative vault, and the AUC ranged from 0.90 to 0.94. The prediction accuracies of internal and external validation dataset for ICL sizing were 82.2% (95% CI 81.1–83.3%) and 82.1% (95% CI 81.1–83.1%), respectively. Conclusions: The innovative data-level data balancing-based machine learning model can be used to predict ICL size and postoperative vault more accurately, which can assist surgeons in choosing optimal ICL size, thus reducing risks of postoperative complications and secondary surgery. The compressible nature of the supersonic combustion flow field results in significant temperature and pressure fluctuations. In the standard Flamelet/Progress Variable (FPV) model, not only is it difficult to specify the tabulation boundary conditions for the flamelet database, but using a single fixed flamelet database to describe the entire complex flow field will likely introduce significant errors. To account for this, an improved FPV model is proposed in this study. Dynamic adjustment of the tabulation pressure in the flamelet database is achieved by scaling the benchmark flamelet database to match the local pressure. Real-time calibration of the tabulation oxidant temperature and fuel temperature is also achieved by real-time statistics and interpolation between four flamelet databases. This allows the improved FPV model to adaptively match the target supersonic combustion flow field without the difficulty of specifying tabulation pressures and temperatures as in the standard FPV model, and it avoids the limitations imposed by the single flamelet database. An additional species transport equation is also incorporated into this model to improve species prediction. Based on the simulations of a hydrogen-fueled scramjet with low-and-high total temperature, the improved model is shown to better restore wall-pressure profiles, combustion mode predictions and OH (hydroxyl radical) distributions, compared to the standard FPV model and comparable studies. Background: Timely recognition of futile recanalization might enable a prompt response and an improved outcome in post-thrombectomy patients. This study aims to evaluate whether postoperative blood glucose increase (BGI) could act as an indicator of futile recanalization in patients receiving a successful thrombectomy. Methods: This is a single-center, retrospective analysis of patients with anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion and successful thrombectomy between February 2019 and June 2022. BGI was defined as a higher level of blood glucose at the first postoperative morning than at admission. Futile recanalization was defined as patients with a modified Rankin Scale score of 3–6 at 90 days after onset. Multivariable binary logistic regression was used to assess the association of BGI with futile recanalization. Results: A total of 276 patients were enrolled, amongst which 120 patients (43.5%) had BGI. Futile recanalization was more prevalent among patients with BGI compared to those without (70.0 vs. 49.4%, P = 0.001). After adjusting for potential confounders, BGI was associated with a higher likelihood of futile recanalization (adjusted OR: 2.97, 95%CI: 1.50–5.86, P = 0.002). Objective: To first induce chronic deep venous thrombosis in the left iliac veins of canines and porcines and then compare these two models to validate endovascular treatment devices. Methods: Thrombin and fibrinogen were used to produce a solid thrombus in the left iliac veins of a stenosis model. The researchers used venous angiography and histological staining to investigate the progression of thrombosis. Results: A left iliac vein thrombus was successfully formed in all experimental animals, including six Labrador dogs and three Bama miniature pigs, and there was minimal surgical bleeding. All dogs survived until 90 days, and three pigs died on Days 29, 33, and 58. A new method for fault location during a single-phase-to-ground fault in the compensated distribution network is proposed in this paper. The method makes full use of the difference between transient-state fault information and the difference between steady-state fault information in two FTUs (feeder terminal units) of each section to determine faulty location. In this method, the transient-state component and steady-state component of zero-sequence current measured by each FTU are extracted by FastICA (fast independent component analysis) algorithm and are represented by the transient-state factor and steady-state factor, which are defined in this paper. Then, the difference between transient-state factors and the difference between steady-state factors in two FTUs of each section are calculated. The two differences corresponding to a certain section are seen as a feature vector, which is given as one input to the fuzzy C-means (FCM) algorithm. All feature vectors will be partitioned into two clusters, one of which represents a faulty section, and the other of which represents a healthy section. Short‐wave source localisation has an important role in many fields. A two‐stage iterative algorithm is proposed based on the ionospheric virtual height (IVH) model using the direction of arrival (DOA) and time difference of arrival (TDOA) measurements, which is divided into DOA stage and TDOA stage. The optimisation problem of the TDOA stage can be obtained by using the result of DOA stage and TDOA measurements. During the solution process, the non‐convex quadratic equation constraints are converted to linear constraints, which can lead to the algorithm converges to the global optimal solution and the optimal solution can be analytically solved. The theoretical analysis demonstrates that the localisation accuracy of both stages can reach the corresponding constrained Cramér‐Rao lower bound (CCRLB). Background: Timely recognition of futile recanalization might enable a prompter response and thus improve outcomes in patients receiving successful thrombectomy. This study aims to evaluate whether postoperative fibrinogen‐to‐albumin ratio (FAR) could act as an indicator of futile recanalization. Methods: This is a single‐center, retrospective analysis of patients with acute anterior circulation large‐vessel occlusion and successful thrombectomy between May 2019 and June 2022. FAR was defined as postoperative blood levels of fibrinogen divided by those of albumin, and dichotomized into high and low levels based on the Youden index. Futile recanalization was defined as patients achieving a successful recanalization with a modified Rankin Scale score of 3–6 at 90 days. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess the association of FAR with futile recanalization. Results: A total of 255 patients were enrolled, amongst which 87 patients (34.1%) had high postoperative FAR. Futile recanalization was more prevalent among patients with high FAR compared to those with low FAR (74.7% vs. 53.0%, p =.001). After adjusting for potential confounders, high postoperative FAR was found to independently correspond with the occurrence of futile recanalization (adjusted OR 2.40, 95%CI 1.18–4.87, p =.015). Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) contribute to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and development. However, the function and molecular mechanisms of action of LINC01343 in HCC remain unclear. qRT-PCR and western blotting were performed to assess miR-526b-5p, LINC01343, and ROBO1 levels in HCC cell lines and tissue samples. Flow cytometry, transwell, and cell counting kit-8 assays were conducted in vitro to assess how LINC01343 influences the apoptosis, migration, and proliferation of HCC cells. In addition, the role of LINC01343 in the growth of tumors was verified using an in vivo xenograft tumor assay. Specific binding of miR-526b-5p to LINC01343/ROBO1 was validated using RNA immunoprecipitation and dual-luciferase reporter experiments. LINC01343 was upregulated in HCC cells and tissues. In vitro, LINC01343-knockdown Hep3B and Huh-7 cells exhibited enhanced apoptosis and suppressed proliferation and migration. An in vivo study further validated that LINC01343-knockdown repressed tumor growth. In terms of mechanisms, LINC01343 directly sponged miR-526b-5p, negatively modulating its expression. Moreover, further experiments revealed that inhibiting miR-526b-5p could counteract the tumor-suppressive effects of LINC01343-knockdown in Hep3B and Huh-7 cells. ROBO1 was identified as a direct target of miR-526b-5p. ROBO1 knockdown weakens the migratory and proliferative abilities of Hep3B and Huh-7 cells. The burden of vector-borne infections is significant, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where vector populations are high and healthcare infrastructure may be inadequate. Further, studies are required to investigate the key factors of vector-borne infections to provide effective control measure. This study focuses on formulating a mathematical framework to characterize the spread of chikungunya infection in the presence of vaccines and treatments. The research is primarily dedicated to descriptive study and comprehension of dynamic behaviour of chikungunya dynamics. We use Banach's and Schaefer's fixed point theorems to investigate the existence and uniqueness of the suggested chikungunya framework resolution. Additionally, we confirm the Ulam–Hyers stability of the chikungunya system. To assess the impact of various parameters on the dynamics of chikungunya, we examine solution pathways using the Laplace-Adomian method of disintegration. Specifically, to visualise the impacts of fractional order, vaccination, bite rate and treatment computer algorithms are employed on the infection level of chikungunya. Our research identified the framework's essential input settings for managing chikungunya infection. Notably, the intensity of chikungunya infection can be reduced by lowering mosquito bite rates in the affected area. An early diagnosis and precise prognosis are critical for the treatment of glioma. The mitogen‑activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway potentially affects glioma, but the exploration of the clinical values of the pathway remains lacking. We accessed data from TCGA, GTEx, CGGA, etc. Up-regulated MAPK signaling pathway genes in glioma were identified and used to cluster the glioma subtypes using consensus clustering. The subtype differences in survival, cancer stemness, and the immune microenvironment were analyzed. A prognostic model was trained with the identified genes using the LASSO method and was validated with three external cohorts. The correlations between the risk model and cancer-associated signatures in cancer were analyzed. Key hub genes of the gene set were identified by hub gene analysis and survival analysis. 47% of the MAPK signaling pathway genes were overexpressed in glioma. Subtypes based on these genes were distinguished in survival, cancer stemness, and the immune microenvironment. A risk model was calculated with high confidence in the prediction of overall survival and was correlated with multiple cancer-associated signatures. 12 hub genes were identified and 8 of them were associated with survival. Obesity, a major global health issue, is increasingly associated with the integral role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in adipogenesis. Recently, we found that lncRNA-MSTRG4710 was highly expressed in the liver of rabbits fed a high-fat diet, but whether it is involved in lipid metabolism remains unclear. A series of experiments involving CCK-8, EDU, qPCR, and Oil Red O staining demonstrated that the overexpression of MSTRG4710 stimulated the proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes while its knockdown inhibited these processes. Bioinformatics analysis showed that miR-29b-3p was a potential target gene of MSTRG4710, and IGF1 was a downstream target gene of miR-29b-3p. Luciferase reporter gene analysis and qPCR analysis confirmed that miR-29b-3p was a potential target gene of MSTRG4710, and miR-29b-3p directly targeted the 3′UTR of IGF1. The overexpression of miR-29b-3p was observed to regulate IGF1 protein and mRNA levels negatively. Additionally, a total of 414 known differentially expressed genes between the miR-29b-3p mimic, miR-29b-3p negative control (NC), siMSTRG4710, and siMSTRG4710-NC group were screened via transcriptome sequencing technology. The GO- and KEGG-enriched pathways were found to be related to lipid metabolism. The study also established that miR-29b-3p targets IGF1 to inhibit preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation. Notably, IGF1 knockdown significantly reduced preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation. Furthermore, co-transfection of pcDNA3.1(+)-MSTRG4710 and mimics into rabbit preadipocytes revealed that the mimics reversed the promotional effect of pcDNA3.1(+)-MSTRG4710. Train distance estimation in a turnout area is an important task for the autonomous driving of urban railway transit, since this function can assist trains in sensing the positions of other trains within the turnout area and prevent potential collision accidents. However, because of large incident angles on object surfaces and far distances, Lidar or stereo vision cannot provide satisfactory precision for such scenarios. In this paper, we propose a method for train distance estimation in a turnout area based on monocular vision: firstly, the side windows of trains in turnout areas are detected by instance segmentation based on YOLOv8; secondly, the vertical directions, the upper edges and lower edges of side windows of the train are extracted by feature extraction; finally, the distance to the target train is calculated with an appropriated pinhole camera model. The proposed method is validated by practical data captured from Hong Kong Metro Tsuen Wan Line. A dataset of 2477 images is built to train the instance segmentation neural network, and the network is able to attain an MIoU of 92.43% and a MPA of 97.47% for segmentation. The accuracy of train distance estimation is then evaluated in four typical turnout area scenarios with ground truth data from on-board Lidar. The experiment results indicate that the proposed method achieves a mean RMSE of 0.9523 m for train distance estimation in four typical turnout area scenarios, which is sufficient for determining the occupancy of crossover in turnout areas. Imaging and impedance flow cytometry is a label-free technique that has shown promise as a potential replacement for standard flow cytometry. This is due to its ability to provide rich information and archive high-throughput analysis. Recently, significant efforts have been made to leverage machine learning for processing the abundant data generated by those techniques, enabling rapid and accurate analysis. Harnessing the power of machine learning, imaging and impedance flow cytometry has demonstrated its capability to address various complex phenotyping scenarios. Herein, we present a comprehensive overview of the detailed strategies for implementing machine learning in imaging and impedance flow cytometry. We initiate the discussion by outlining the commonly employed setup to acquire the data (i.e., image or signal) from the cell. Subsequently, we delve into the necessary processes for extracting features from the acquired image or signal data. Finally, we discuss how these features can be utilized for cell phenotyping through the application of machine learning algorithms. Background and purpose: Having good collaterals is associated with better clinical outcomes in patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy. This study aims to evaluate whether the effect of collateral status on functional outcomes is modified by volemia at admission. Methods: This is a single‐center, retrospective analysis of patients who had acute proximal anterior circulation occlusion and underwent endovascular thrombectomy between January 2019 and June 2022. Volemia at admission, evaluated by blood urea nitrogen‐to‐creatinine ratio, was used to dichotomize patients into dehydrated and hydrated groups. The primary outcome was functional independence (90‐day modified Rankin Scale score = 0–2). Secondary outcomes were the rates of successful reperfusion, 24‐h symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, and 90‐day all‐cause mortality. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to assess the interaction between collateral status and volemia at admission on outcomes. Results: A total of 290 patients were enrolled, among whom having good collaterals was associated with functional independence (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 2.71, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.41–5.22, p = 0.003). Having good collaterals benefited dehydrated patients (adjusted OR = 3.33, 95% CI = 1.45–7.63, p = 0.004) but not hydrated patients (adjusted OR = 2.21, 95% CI = 0.73–6.68, p = 0.161). However, an interaction between collaterals and volemia at admission on functional independence was not observed (p = 0.319). The rates of successful reperfusion, symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage, and all‐cause mortality were similar between those with good and poor collaterals in both dehydrated and hydrated patients. This work is concerned with numerical analysis of the variable-step time filtered backward Euler scheme (see e.g. DeCaria in SIAM J Sci Comput 43(3):A2130–A2160, 2021) for linear parabolic equations. To this end, we build up a discrete gradient structure of the associated one-leg multi-step scheme of the time filtered backward Euler (FiBE) scheme, and establish the discrete energy dissipation law for the dissipative case. Furthermore, upon developing the discrete energy technique with two new classes of discrete orthogonal convolution kernels, we present the rigorous stability and convergence results for the variable-step FiBE scheme in the L 2 norm under a practical step-ratio constraint 1 / 2 ≤ τ k / τ k - 1 ≤ 2 for k ≥ 2 , where τ k is the associated discrete time step. This seems to be the first energy stability and L 2 norm error estimate for the variable-step time filtered stiff solver. We also present numerical tests to support the theoretical findings. Aims: Although intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) has not shown confirmative effects on the outcomes of patients receiving successful thrombectomy, it might influence the outcomes of a subset of these patients. This study aims to evaluate whether the effects of IVT depend on final reperfusion grade in patients with successful thrombectomy. Methods: This is a single‐center, retrospective analysis of patients with an acute anterior circulation large‐vessel occlusion and a successful thrombectomy between January 2020 and June 2022. Final reperfusion grade was evaluated by the modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) score, which was dichotomized into incomplete (mTICI 2b) and complete (mTICI 3) reperfusion. The primary outcome was functional independence (90‐day modified Rankin Scale score 0–2). Safety outcomes were 24‐h symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and 90‐day all‐cause mortality. Multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to assess the interactions between IVT treatment and final reperfusion grade on outcomes. Results: When comparing all 167 patients enrolled in the study, IVT did not influence the extent of functional independence (adjusted OR: 1.38; 95% CI: 0.65–2.95; p = 0.397). The effect of IVT on functional independence depended on final reperfusion grade (p = 0.016). IVT benefited patients with incomplete reperfusion (adjusted OR: 3.70; 95% CI 1.21–11.30; p = 0.022), but not those with complete reperfusion (adjusted OR: 0.48, 95% CI: 0.14–1.59; p = 0.229). IVT was not associated with 24‐h symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (p = 0.190) or 90‐day all‐cause mortality (p = 0.545). Conclusions: The effect of IVT on functional independence depended on final reperfusion grade in patients with successful thrombectomy. IVT appeared to benefit patients with incomplete reperfusion, but not those with complete reperfusion. White clover is a widely grown temperate legume forage with high nutritional value. Research on the functional genomics of white clover requires a stable and efficient transformation system. In this study, we successfully induced calluses from the cotyledons and leaves of 10 different white clover varieties. The results showed that the callus formation rate in the cotyledons did not vary significantly among the varieties, but the highest callus formation rate was observed in 'Koala' leaves. Subsequently, different concentrations of antioxidants and hormones were tested on the browning rate and differentiation ability of the calluses, respectively. The results showed that the browning rate was the lowest on MS supplemented with 20 mg L−1 AgNO3 and 25 mg L−1 VC, respectively, and the differentiation rate was highest on MS supplemented with 1 mg L−1 6-BA, 1 mg L−1 KT and 0.5 mg L−1 NAA. In addition, the transformation system for Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of 4-day-old leaves was optimized to some extent and obtained a positive callus rate of 8.9% using green fluorescent protein (GFP) as a marker gene. According to our data, by following this optimized protocol, the transformation efficiency could reach 2.38%. White clover (Trifolium repens) is one of the most widely cultivated livestock forage plants whose persistence is severely affected by abiotic stresses. For the white clover, efficient regeneration systems is still a great necessity. In this study, inoculating 4-day-old cotyledons into MS media fortified with 0.4 mg·L−1 6-BA and 2 mg·L−1 2,4-D significantly increased the callus induction rate. Roots and cotyledons proved to be better explants, followed by hypocotyls, leaves, and petioles for callus induction. The development of differentiated structures occurred effectively on MS supplemented with 1 mg·L−1 6-BA and 0.1 mg·L−1 NAA. To increase transformation, we investigated various factors affecting the Agrobacterium tumefaciens transformation in white clover. The optimal conditions for root-derived callus and 4-day-old cotyledons were as follows: Agrobacterium suspension density with OD600 of 0.5, 20 mg·L−1 AS, and 4 days of co-cultivation duration. Subsequently, we developed two transformation protocols: transformation after callus induction from 4-day-old roots (Protocol A) and transformation before initiation of callus from cotyledons (Protocol B). The transformation frequencies varied from 1.92 to 3.17% in Protocol A and from 2.76 to 3.47% in Protocol B. We report the possibility to regenerate multiple transgenic white clover plants from a single genetic background. Extending the application area of lignin requires overcoming the limitations of its low hydrophilicity. Sulfonation process becomes the most effective method for preparing lignosulfonates. An analysis of the mechanisms by which different lignosulfonates are prepared. It compared the effects of various modification methods on charge density and sulfonate group content in lignosulfonates. It also examined how different separation techniques affect the properties of lignosulfonates. As a result of being more water‐soluble, there is also a review of cutting‐edge research in the fields of energy, medicine, and agriculture. Due to the spread of COVID-19 worldwide, a large number of universities had to close their campuses. To maintain teaching and learning during this disruption to the traditional teaching, most universities have adopted online teaching model. The current study aimed at investigating the efficacy of various online teaching modes as well as comparing a proposed combined model of online and flipped learning to other online and traditional models. The Learning under COVID-19questionnaire was designed and administered to undergraduate engineering students at Chengdu University of Information Technology (CUIT). The questionnaire included five parts: demographic questions, frequencies of online courses, types of online courses, the communication and Q&A in online classes and the effect of online classes, as well as the effect of combined model learning. The results of the study showed that, students were dissatisfied with online learning in general, and they were especially dissatisfied with the communication and Q&A modes. High-enthalpy gas streams in a real engine or wind tunnel will contain some trace gases; however, this is often ignored in many studies. To investigate transverse fuel-jet mixing and combustion characteristics in a high-enthalpy inflow with trace-gas species, large-eddy simulations based on the HyShot II configuration have been adopted and verified. It was found that a trace amount of atomic oxygen (O) and nitrous oxide has a direct significance on ignition delay times and can, therefore, influence the overall flame distribution. In addition, the results show a greater sensitivity to the levels of O. The complex shock-wave system generated by the transverse jet is found to be a key factor in enhancing mixing and inducing combustion. It not only facilitates vortex generation by increasing the baroclinic term but also provides regions with high pressure and temperature, which accelerate the chemical-reaction rates for radical generation. The initial ignition locations, characterized by HO2 production rates, are mainly located in the low-speed region close to the injector, e.g., in the recirculation region, while OH is mainly formed downstream and accompanied by strong heat release. Based on the analysis of instantaneous contours and statistical results, the overall combustion was found to be in scramjet mode. The partially premixed flame dominates the combustor, where the combustion mainly lies in the flamelet regime, while the diffusion flame dominates the nozzle, where the combustion is spread over the flamelet regime, the broken flamelet regime, and the perfectly stirred reactor regime. Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) carry out the cellular processes of all living organisms. Experimental methods for PPI detection suffer from high cost and false-positive rate, hence efficient computational methods are highly desirable for facilitating PPI detection. In recent years, benefiting from the enormous amount of protein data produced by advanced high-throughput technologies, machine learning models have been well developed in the field of PPI prediction. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of the recently proposed machine learning-based prediction methods. The machine learning models applied in these methods and details of protein data representation are also outlined. To understand the potential improvements in PPI prediction, we discuss the trend in the development of machine learning-based methods. Finally, we highlight potential directions in PPI prediction, such as the use of computationally predicted protein structures to extend the data source for machine learning models. In this study, we investigate the air temperature response to land-use and land-cover change (LULCC; cropland expansion and deforestation) using subgrid land model output generated by a set of CMIP6 model simulations. Our study is motivated by the fact that ongoing land-use activities are occurring at local scales, typically significantly smaller than the resolvable scale of a grid cell in Earth system models. It aims to explore the potential for a multimodel approach to better characterize LULCC local climatic effects. On an annual scale, the CMIP6 models are in general agreement that croplands are warmer than primary and secondary land (psl; mainly forests, grasslands, and bare ground) in the tropics and cooler in the mid–high latitudes, except for one model. The transition from warming to cooling occurs at approximately 40°N. Although the surface heating potential, which combines albedo and latent heat flux effects, can explain reasonably well the zonal mean latitudinal subgrid temperature variations between crop and psl tiles in the historical simulations, it does not provide a good prediction on subgrid temperature for other land tile configurations (crop vs forest; grass vs forest) under Shared Socioeconomic Pathway 5–8.5 (SSP5–8.5) forcing scenarios. A subset of simulations with the CESM2 model reveals that latitudinal subgrid temperature variation is positively related to variation in net surface shortwave radiation and negatively related to variation in the surface energy redistribution factor, with a dominant role from the latter south of 30°N. We suggest that this emergent relationship can be used to benchmark the performance of land surface parameterizations and for prediction of local temperature response to LULCC. Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a serious disorder of the central nervous system with a high disability rate. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are reported to mediate many biological processes. The aim of this study was to explore lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles and functional networks after SCI. Differentially expressed genes between SCI model rats and sham controls were identified by microarray assays and analyzed by functional enrichment. Key lncRNAs were identified using a support vector machine- (SVM-) recursive feature elimination (RFE) algorithm. A trans and cis regulation model was used to analyze the regulatory relationships between lncRNAs and their targets. An lncRNA-related ceRNA network was established. We identified 5465 differentially expressed lncRNAs (DE lncRNAs) and 8366 differentially expressed mRNAs (DE mRNAs) in the SCI group compared with the sham group (fold change > 2.0 , p < 0.05). Four genes were confirmed by qRT-PCR which were consistent with the microarray data. GSEA analysis showed that most marked changes occurred in pathways related to immune inflammation and nerve cell function, including cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, and GABAergic synapse. Enrichment analysis identified 30 signaling pathways, including those associated with immune inflammation response. A total of 40 key lncRNAs were identified using the SVM-RFE algorithm. A key lncRNA-mRNAs coexpression network was generated for 230 951 lncRNA-mRNA pairs with half showing positive correlations. Several key DE lncRNAs were predicted to have "cis"- or "trans"-regulated target genes. The transcription factors, Sp1, JUN, and SOX10, may regulate the interaction between XR_001837123.1 and ETS 1. In addition, five pairs of ceRNA regulatory sequences were constructed. Many mRNAs and lncRNAs were found to be dysregulated after SCI. Bioinformatic analysis showed that DE lncRNAs may play crucial roles in SCI. Femtosecond-laser-assisted cell manipulation, as one of the high throughput cell sorting techniques, is tailored for single-step multiple sorting based on controllable impulsive force. In this paper, femtosecond laser pulses are focused within a pocket structure and they induce an impulse force acting on the flowing objects. The impulsive force is shown to be controllable by a new method to adjust the femtosecond pulse properties. This allows precise streamline manipulation of objects having various physical qualities (e.g., weight and volume). The pulse energy, pulse number, and pulse interval of the femtosecond laser are altered to determine the impulsive force strength. The method is validated in single cell or bead triple-sorting experiments and its capability to perform streamline manipulation in as little as 10 μs is shown. The shift profiles of the beads acting under the impulsive force are studied in order to better understand the sorting mechanism. Additionally, beads and cells with different fluorescence intensities are successfully detected and directed into different microchannels, with maximum success rates of 90% and 64.5%, respectively. To sum up, all results suggest that this method has the potential to sort arbitrary subpopulations by altering the number of femtosecond pulses and that it takes the first step toward developing a single-step multi-selective system. Although the therapy of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) has progressed because of imatinib (IM) and other tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), the majority of patients still do not recover. To better regulate the remaining leukemic cell population, TKI combo therapy may be improved with a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms. We employed a mathematical system which incorporated the intricate phenomena of immune system to CML. We use a fractional derivative framework in this work to understand the dynamics of CML. Additionally, in our work, we concentrate on the qualitative characterization and dynamical behavior of CML interactions. For the proposed model, we examine the singularity and existence using fixed point theorems by Banach and Schaefer. We provide the necessary criteria for our suggested fractional model's Ulam–Hyers stability. The influence of the factors on the dynamics of CML is highlighted by closely examining the solution paths by using a numerical scheme. To be more precise, we emphasized how the suggested system's dynamic and chaotic behavior varied depending on the fractional order and other system factors. Policymakers are advised to consider the most crucial elements of CML dynamics. In order to inform policymakers and health authorities about the systems essential for control and treatment, it is crucial to investigate the dynamic characteristics of CML disease. Bolts, as the basic units of tunnel linings, are crucial to safe tunnel service. Caused by the moist and complex environment in the tunnel, corrosion becomes a significant defect of bolts. Computer vision technology is adopted because manual patrol inspection is inefficient and often misses the corroded bolts. However, most current studies are conducted in a laboratory with good lighting conditions, while their effects in actual practice have yet to be considered, and the accuracy also needs to be improved. In this paper, we put forward an Ensemble Learning approach combining our Improved MultiScale Retinex with Color Restoration (IMSRCR) and You Only Look Once (YOLO) based on truly acquired tunnel image data to detect corroded bolts in the lining. The IMSRCR sharpens and strengthens the features of the lining pictures, weakening the bad effect of a dim environment compared with the existing MSRCR. Furthermore, we combine models with different parameters that show different performance using the ensemble learning method, greatly improving the accuracy. Sufficient comparisons and ablation experiments based on a dataset collected from the tunnel in service are conducted to prove the superiority of our proposed algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A rapid, efficient, simple, and high-throughput method for the simultaneous determination of 108 pesticide residues in three traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) was established, comprising an improved QuEChERS method in combination with HPLC-MS/MS based on mixed samples. A quantity of 10 mL of acetonitrile was used as extraction solvent, and 10 mg of amino-modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-NH2) and 150 mg of anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) were selected as sorbents for dispersive solid phase extraction. The performance of the method was verified according to the analytical quality control standards of SANTE/11813/2017 guidelines. With good linearity (R2 > 0.9984) in the range of 2–200 μg/L for all pesticides in the selected matrices, and good accuracy, precision, and high sensitivity, the recoveries were in the range of 70–120% for more than 95% of the pesticides, with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than 16.82% for all. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) of the method were 0.01–3.87 μg/kg and 0.07–12.90 μg/kg, respectively, for Fritillaria thunbergii Miq (F. thunbergii), Chrysanthemum Morifolium Ramat (C. morifolium), and Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo (D. officinale). Using bioactive inducers to enhance rice resistance is an effective means of green prevention and control of diseases during rice production. In a previous study, we found that foliar sprays of pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) as the bioactive inducer could remarkably reduce the occurrence index of rice sheath blight (ShB) Rhizoctonia solani and increase the grain yield of rice under field conditions. However, little information is available on the mechanism of PQQ-induced rice resistance to ShB. In this study, the phenotype and mechanism of foliar sprayed PQQ-induced rice resistance to ShB were investigated by artificial inoculation method, RNA-seq technology, and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) assay in the laboratory. The results showed that at 144 h after inoculation (hai) with the ShB C30 strain, many disease spots occurred obviously in a susceptible variety, Lemont (L), treated by 1.0 μmol/L PQQ (P+) with the disease score (DS) of 4.36, and almost all plants were withered and died under the ddH2O (P−) treatment alone, with the DS of 8.39. By comparison, the DS of a resistant variety, Gaopin 6 (G), was only 0.88 in the P+ treatment and 3.82 in the P− treatment. The results of hormone determination showed that jasmonic acid (JA) contents in the G and L varieties treated by P+ were increased significantly, by 78% and 197% respectively, at 48 hai. There was no significant difference in salicylic acid (SA) contents in these varieties between P+ and ddH2O (P−) treatments during the period of 48 hai. These results suggest that JA may play a key role in PQQ-induced rice resistance to ShB. The transcriptome analysis of the leaf sheath of the G and L varieties indicated that 165 and 250 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were found in the intersection of LP− vs. LP+ and GP− vs. GP+ at 24 and 48 hai, respectively. Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes analysis showed that these DEGs were related to plant–pathogen interaction, ribosome, plant hormone signaling transduction, mitogen-activated protein kinas signaling pathway, and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis. For ten highly expressed genes related to disease resistance, the results of qRT-PCR assay showed that eight genes, especially OsAOS2 and OsOSM1, were regulated positively, and two genes, OsGF14e and OsWRKY72, were regulated negatively. Among these, four up-regulated genes, OsOSM1, OsAOS2, OsHI-LOX, and OsLOX1, and one down-regulated gene, OsWRKY72, belonging to the JA signaling pathway, may be involved in PQQ-induced rice resistance to ShB.
