A co-crystal was obtained based on donor-acceptor interactions. The obvious charge transfer from the linear donor to the triangular acceptor units results in a quasi-two-dimensional CT complex with excellent near-infrared photothermal conversion efficiency. The co-crystals further acted as an excellent photothermal material in seawater desalination.

Hydrogen bonding interaction as one type of non-covalent force has proven itself to be highly efficient for constructing structurally unique artificial secondary structures. Here, the structure of Naryl-substituted anthranilamide in solution is demonstrated by various NMR technique, the intramolecular hydrogen bonds between amide attached to arylamine of the same ring is proposed, which is supported by its crystal structure in the solid phase. The substituent on the nitrogen atom of arylamine plays an important role in forming the presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The chemical shift of the Naryl-H downfield changes obviously, due to the formation of intramolecular hydrogen bonds and the deshielding effect of oxygen, and the neighboring C–H is activated and shows downfield protonic signal too. The presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds probably provides the explanation for the transformation from Naryl-substituted anthranilamide to imine, which could be converted into 2-aryl quinazolinone finally.

By in situ generation of ppc ligand in the presence MCl2 and 3-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-5-carbohydrazide at room temperature, the complexes, [M(ppc)2(DMF)2]·2H2O (M = Co (1) and Ni (2); ppc = 5-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylic acid), were synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectrum, UV spectra and elemental analysis. X-ray structural analysis revealed that the complexes were formed into 3D supramolecular polymers via C–H⋯O and π⋯π interactions. The 3D supramolecular networks of two complexes were constructed from 1D nanochannels along the c-direction with the disorder DMF and water solvent molecules shuttling easily. TG and powder X-ray diffraction analysis showed two complexes had high stability when DMF and H2O molecules were removed. Upon DMF molecules liberated, two complexes become stable microporous solid with coordination-unsaturated [M(ppc)2] as center. The electrochemical properties were also investigated.

A couple of novel triptycene-derived calix[6]arenes with fixed conformations were synthesized, and shown to form tubular assemblies with aromatic rings as the walls and phenolic hydroxyl groups situated in the cavities, in the solid state.

The title compound, C13H8Cl2N2, was prepared by reaction of ο-phenyl­enediamine with 2,4-dichloro­benzaldehyde under reflux in ethanol. The dihedral angle between the benzimidazole system and the benzene ring is 42.00 (15)°. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H⋯N inter­actions are present.

The title compound, C14H16N2O2S, was prepared by the reaction of benzaldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and thio­urea sulfate. There are weak inter­molecular hydrogen-bond inter­actions in the crystal structure, involving the amine and thio­ketone groups as donors and acceptors, respectively.

The title compound, C18H16N4O, was prepared by the reaction of 5-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-3-carbohydrazide with 4-methyl­benzaldehyde in refluxing ethanol. The structure exhibits weak inter­molecular N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen-bonding inter­actions.

The title compound, C11H15NOS, was prepared by the reaction of phenyl isothio­cyanate with isobutyl alcohol at room temperature. The central CNC(=S)O group is essentially planar. In the crystal structure, the mol­ecules are connected via N—H⋯S inter­actions.
