- Abstract
Thanks to the highest visual functions people can realize what they see, recognize objects they are looking at, identify their form, color and position among other external world objects. Prosopagnosia is a neurological condition that renders a person incapable of recognizing faces. Alexia or disability to read is one of acquired sensorial brain disorders of aphasia, affecting the ability to read. In the normal brain in the right occipito-temporal lobe in midfusiform gyrus, there is a center - "fusiform face area" that is dedicated to face recognition. Damaged occipital-temporal lobe in the left hemisphere almost causes alexia. In this article we review the main prosopagnosia and alexia differences and similarities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
