Alarmins are a class of molecules released when affected cells damaged or undergo apoptosis. They contain various chemotactic and immunomodulatory proteins or peptides. These molecules regulate the immune response by interacting with pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and play important roles in inflammatory response, tissue repair, infection defense, and cancer treatment. Spontaneous abortion (SA) is a common pregnancy-related disease, and its pathogenesis has been puzzling clinicians, so it needs to be further studied. In this paper, we first reviewed the research status of various alarmins and SA, focusing on the role of high mobility box 1 (HMGB1), interleukin33 (IL-33), interleukin1β (IL-1β) and S-100 protein (S100 protein) in immune response, inflammation, embryonic development and abortion. Subsequently, this paper summarized the effect of alarmins on pregnancy outcome by influencing angiogenesis-related factors. Finally, from the perspective of aseptic inflammation, the pro-inflammatory signaling pathways involved in various alarmins and their targeted drugs were reviewed. By focusing on specific molecules in alarmins and their receptors and signaling pathways, we can more accurately conduct drug research and development. Few biomarkers are available for predicting chemotherapeutic response and prognosis in colorectal cancer (CRC). Long‐noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are essential for CRC development and growth. Therefore, studying lncRNAs may reveal potential predictors of chemotherapy response and prognosis in CRC. LINC01764 was analyzed using datasets from Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center's advanced CRC patients' RNA‐seq and The Cancer Genome Atlas datasets. Gene set enrichment analysis was employed to detect related pathways. Cotransfection experiments, RNA pulldown assays, RNA‐binding protein immunoprecipitation, protein synthesis activity, and dual‐luciferase reporter assays were performed to determine interactions among LINC01764, hnRNPK, and c‐MYC. High LINC01764 expression correlates with metastasis, a poor response to FOLFOX/XELOX chemotherapy, and a poor prognosis in CRC. LINC01764 enhance glycolysis and glutamine metabolism to promote CRC cells proliferation, metastasis, and 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU) resistance. LINC01764 specifically binds to hnRNPK, facilitating its interaction with c‐MYC mRNA and promoting internal ribosome entry site (IRES)‐dependent translation of c‐MYC, thereby exerting oncogenic effects. LINC01764 induced 5‐FU chemoresistance by upregulating the c‐MYC, glucose, and glutamine metabolism pathways, which downregulated UPP1, crucial for activating 5‐FU. Conclusively, LINC01764 promotes CRC progression and 5‐FU resistance through hnRNPK‐mediated‐c‐MYC IRES‐dependent translational regulation, which suggests its potential as a predictor of CRC chemotherapy response and prognosis. Four Zn(II) metal–organic coordination polymers (Zn-MCPs), [Zn2(O-cpia)(2,2′-bpy)·OH] (1), Zn2(O-cpia)(4,4′-bpy)0.5·OH (2), Zn3(O-cpia)2(bpp)2·H2O (3) and [Zn4(O-cpia)2(phen)2·(OH)2] (4), were synthesized by using the mixed ligand approach, namely 5-(2-carboxyl-phenoxy)-1,3-benzenedicarboxylic acid (O-cpiaH3) and different auxiliary N-donor ligands 2,2′-bipyridine (2,2′-bpy), 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy), 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp), and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen). The four Zn-MCPs exhibited different architectures based on different secondary building units (SBUs) and different ligand bridging modes. Four adjacent Zn2+ ions and two μ3-OH groups formed [Zn4(μ3-OH)2] tetranuclear SBUs in 1, 2, and 4, further linking together to build different frameworks by different ligand bridging modes. Guangdong black teas have diverse flavors and aromas. To explore the molecular basis of these aromas, we extracted and analyzed the volatile flavor compounds of 31 black tea samples from 7 districts (Yingde, Luokeng, Renhua, Meizhou, Chaozhou, Lianshan, and Heyuan) in Guangdong Province with headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Then, 135 volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) were identified and grouped into 12 classes according to their chemical structure. Notably, alcohols accounted for 31.40–44.43% of total VFCs. The score plot of supervised partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) revealed good discrimination for most black tea samples. Additionally, 64 compounds with variable importance in projection > 1.0 were identified as differential odorants. Through an odor activity value analysis, eight volatile compounds were identified as the key active differential VFCs: linalool, methyl salicylate, phenylethyl alcohol, p-cresol, 3-methyl-butanoic acid, geraniol, benzaldehyde, and benzeneacetaldehyde. Thus, benzeneacetaldehyde and linalool in YJ-Yingde samples, benzaldehyde in Luokeng samples with an almond-like aroma, phenylethyl alcohol in the Heyuan samples, and p-cresol and 3-methyl-butanoic acid in the Chaozhou samples were the key volatile flavor compounds that could differentiate local black teas from other black teas. Summary: This study aimed to analyze the clinical effects of microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) surgery combined with an intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) regimen in the treatment of non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) patients with different etiologies. In total, 128 NOA patients participated in this study, in which they received infertility treatment by micro-TESE surgery combined with an ICSI regimen, and all patients were divided into three groups [the Klinefelter syndrome (KS), the idiopathic and the secondary NOA groups]. In addition, the sperm retrieval rate (SRR), fertilization rate, embryo development status and clinical treatment effects were analyzed. Among the 128 NOA patients, the SRR of KS NOA patients was 48.65%, those of idiopathic and the secondary patients were 33.82% and 73.91%, respectively. Regardless of etiologies, there was no correlation with age, hormone value or testicular volume. Further analysis showed that the SRR of the KS group was positively related with testosterone (T) values, and the SRR of the secondary group had a positive relationship with follicle-stimulating hormone or luteinizing hormone values. In the subsequent clinical treatment, the retrieved sperm was subjected to ICSI and achieved good treatment effects, especially in the secondary group, and the implantation rate (55.56%) and clinical pregnancy rate (68.42%) were both higher than those of the idiopathic group (28.75% and 40.00%) and KS group (22.05% and 30.77%). Micro-TESE surgery combined with ICSI insemination is the most effective treatment regimen for NOA patients. The SRR of NOA patients with different etiologies are related to certain specific factors, and micro-TESE surgery seems to be the ideal and only way to have biological children. Melatonin (MT) can improve the effect of cryopreservation on oocytes by suppressing oxidative stress and maintaining the permeability of the oolemma. In this study, MT was firstly applied to human oocytes' cryopreservation to explore the effect of prolonged cryopreservation on developmental competence and its role. Collected in vitro-matured human oocytes were cryopreserved in MT-containing or MT-free medium for 0 and 6 months; after warming, viable oocytes were assessed for developmental viability, intracellular protein expression, mitochondrial function, and oxidation-antioxidant system. Meanwhile, fresh oocytes were set as the control. The results showed that with the extension of cryopreservation time, the developmental competence of oocytes gradually declined, accompanied by the down-regulation of most mitochondrial function-related proteins, the reduction in ATP and GSH production, the increase in ROS accumulation, and the aggravation of the imbalance of ROS/GSH in oocytes. However, the participation of MT seemed to effectively mitigate these negative effects. Therefore, we speculate that melatonin may maintain normal ATP production and ROS/GSH balance in cryopreserved oocytes by protecting mitochondrial function and inhibiting oxidative damage, thereby effectively maintaining the developmental competence of human oocytes in prolonged cryopreservation. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the main type of malignancy in kidney related to glucose metabolism. Primary single cell culture and single cell sequencing are novel research technologies. In this study, we explored the differentiation status of ccRCC cells and its significance in prognosis and immunotherapeutic response through bioinformatics. We characterized distinct differentiation states and differentiation-related genes (DRGs) in ccRCC cells through single cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Combined with bulk RNA-seq data, we classified patients into two clusters and found that this classification was closely correlated with patient prognosis and immunotherapeutic responses. Based on machine learning, we identified a prognostic risk model composed of 14 DRGs, including BTG2, CDKN1A, COL6A1, CPM, CYB5D2, FOSB, ID2, ISG15, PLCG2, SECISBP2, SOCS3, TES, ZBTB16, and ZNF704, to predict the survival rate of patients and then constructed a nomogram model integrating clinicopathological characteristics and risk score for clinical practice. In the study of immune checkpoints, we found that patients in the high-risk group had a disposition to get worse prognosis and better effects of immune checkpoint blocking therapies. Finally, we found the expression level of model DRGs was associated with a tumor-immune microenvironment (TIME) pattern and the response of 83 compounds or inhibitors was significantly different in the two risk groups. In a word, our study highlights the potential contribution of cell differentiation in prognosis judgment and immunotherapy response and offers promising therapeutic options for ccRCC patients. This paper is concerned with some new Hermite-Hadamard inequalities on two types of time scales, Z and N c , h . Based on the substitution rules, we first prove the discrete Hermite-Hadamard inequalities on Z relating to the midpoint a + b 2 and extend them to discrete fractional forms. In addition, by using traditional methods, we prove discrete Hermite-Hadamard inequalities on N c , h and explore the corresponding fractional inequalities involving the nabla h-fractional sums. Volatile flavor compounds in 112 black teas from seven countries were analyzed by untargeted metabolomics using headspace solid‐phase microextraction and gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (HS‐SPME/GC‐MS). Multivariate statistical analysis and odor activity values (OAVs) were used to classify these samples and identify key odorants. A total of 140 volatile flavor compounds (VFCs), including 12 different groups, were identified, and alcohols were prevalent in China and India samples, accounting for 40.83% and 34.96% of the total VFCs, respectively. Eight volatile compounds with OAVs > 1 were identified as key active differential odorants in Chinese, Indian, and Sri Lankan samples, including linalool, pentanoic acid, methyl salicylate, hexanoic acid, 1‐methyl‐naphthalene, phenylethyl alcohol, geraniol, and β‐ionone. Linalool, pentanoic acid, and hexanoic acid in Indian black teas, phenylethyl alcohol in Chinese black teas, and 1‐methyl‐naphthalene, β‐ionone in Sri Lankan black teas could be used to discriminate different black tea groups. A total of 12–14 VFCs with OAVs > 1 were identified as key active aromatics in Chinese black tea sample. Linalool and benzeneacetaldehyde in Yingde (Guangdong) black tea, methyl salicylate in Taiwanese samples, and benzeneacetic acid in Anhui black tea could be used as biomarkers to distinguish them from other Chinese samples. Sensory evaluation results showed that most black teas presented the common sweet, floral odors, which were consistent with GC‐MS analysis. These results will contribute to characterize the odor metabolome of black teas and provide biochemical basis for identifying the authenticity of different black teas. Practical Application: Linalool, pentanoic acid, and hexanoic acid in Indian black teas, phenylethyl alcohol in Chinese black teas, 1‐methyl‐naphthalene, β‐ionone, and methyl salicylate in Sri Lankan black teas could be used to discriminate black teas from the three countries. Zona pellucida (ZP) abnormalities are the cause of low fertility or infertility, agar-like ZP is more common in abnormal ZP. The purpose of this exploration is to systematically analyze the fertilization competence of agar-like ZP oocytes, the development characteristics of subsequent embryos as well as the results of embryo transfer, aiming to explore effective clinical treatment strategies. A total of 58 patients with agar-like ZP were set as the case group and the control group involved 3866 patients, in which the patients' oocytes presented normal ZP. BMI, basal hormone levels, and hormone levels were similar in both groups. The case patients suffered significantly longer infertility years than control (p<0.05), and most patients were diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory diseases. A distinct difference was observed in the structure of oocyte corona cumulus complexes between the two groups. The embryo development parameters, which include the rates of cleavage, high-quality embryo, blastocyst, and high-quality blastocyst in the case group were greatly lower than that in the control group (p<0.05). The rates of cumulative clinical pregnancy and live birth were comparable between the two groups. In the subsequent follow-up, thirty-four of the 58 patients receiving intracytoplasmic single sperm injection (ICSI) or early rescue ICSI (R-ICSI) treatment successfully gave birth to babies, and all of the newborns were with no neonatal defects. In addition, the fertilization rate of the R-ICSI group was significantly lower than that of the ICSI group (p<0.05). The occurrence of agar-like ZP impairs the development competence of human oocytes, however, the human oocytes with agar-like ZP can develop into healthy offspring, and an ICSI regimen is the optimal treatment strategy for them. Infertility has a detrimental impact on the sexual function of involuntarily childless couples. However, the effect of male sexual function on female partner's sexual function in infertile couples remains unknown. In order to explore the association between these couples' sexual function, 324 consecutive couples with infertility and 326 female‐age‐matched fertile couples were enrolled in this study. The female sexual function index (FSFI) and sexual history were evaluated in female partners. In addition to the international index of erectile function‐15 (IIEF‐15) and sexual history, self‐reported intravaginal ejaculation latency time was evaluated in male partners. The demographics and depression status of couples were also recorded. We observed a higher occurrence of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in infertile females than in fertile females (58.6% vs. 50.3%, p = 0.033). FSD was associated with a number of risk variables, including partner's erectile dysfunction (ED), depression and sexual frequency. The overall FSFI score was positively associated with the IIEF‐15 score (r = 0.347, p < 0.001). Besides, six FSFI domains were positively correlated with five IIEF‐15 domains (p < 0.05). Background: We aimed to investigate the function and underlying mechanisms of circ_0087378 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Methods: We verified higher circ_0087378 expression in ESCC tissues by performing qRT-PCR assays. We further confirmed the oncogenic roles of circ_0087378 in ESCC cells through a series of biological function assays. Then, we used an RNA pull-down assay and luciferase reporter assay to identify miR-140-3p that directly interacts with circ_0087378. Subsequent studies were performed to demonstrate that the circ_0087378/miR-140-3p/E2F3 axis promotes ESCC development. Results: We demonstrated that upregulated circ_0087378 expression was positively associated with tumor size, histological grade, tumor stage, the presence of metastasis, and worse survival in patients with ESCC. Our results further revealed that knockdown of circ_0087378 suppressed the proliferation, migration, and invasion of ESCC cells and reduced tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, we showed that circ_0087378 could directly bind to miR-miR-140-3p and relieve the suppression for target E2F3, which accelerated cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Correlation analysis in ESCC specimens supported the involvement of the circ_0087378/miR-140-3p/E2F3 axis in ESCC progression. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that circ_0087378 might act as a competing endogenous RNA for miR-140-3p, which could inhibit the tumorigenesis and progression of ESCC through upregulating E2F3 expression. Summary: To explore whether different polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) concentrations affect the results of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), a prospective study was conducted for 194 couples undergoing 210 ICSI therapy cycles. These cycles were divided into three groups (10, 7 and 5% groups) using the corresponding concentration of PVP for sperm immobilization. The main outcome measures were analyzed. Results indicated that, with a decrease in PVP concentrations, all of the main outcome measures increased. In particular, the high-quality cleavage embryo rate in the 7% group was significantly lower than in the 5% group (P < 0.01), and the cleavage, high-quality cleavage embryo, and high-quality blastocyst rates in the 5% group were significantly higher than those in the 10% group (all P < 0.001). For high-/intermediate-quality semen, all of the main outcome measures were significantly increased with 5% PVP. For the poor-quality semen, only the high-quality cleavage embryo and high-quality blastocyst rates were significantly higher in the 5% group. Therefore, lowering PVP concentrations greatly promoted the development of embryos in ICSI cycles, with an optimal concentration of 5% for ICSI. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The United States (U.S.) consumed over 80 billion servings of tea, approximately 3.8 billion gallons, in the year of 2018. With the vast majority of tea demand being met by importation, the United States became the third largest tea importer worldwide after Russia and Pakistan. As demand for domestically produced tea increases and growers expressing increasing interest in growing and producing tea, tea production became an emerging industry in the United States. Compared to major tea producing countries with centuries of growing history, tea production in the United States is limited and requires research support in many aspect of tea production including selecting suitable cultivars adapted to local climatic conditions. This study evaluated nine tea cultivars, including 'BL1,' 'BL2,' 'Black Sea,' 'Christine's Choice,' 'Dave's Fave,' 'Large Leaf,' 'Small Leaf,' 'Sochi,' and 'var. assamica ,' for plant growth, leaf morphological characteristics, cold tolerance, and leaf biochemical compositions when grown in Mississippi United States with a subtropical climate. The nine tested cultivars had varying plant growth indices (PGI) and varying degrees of cold tolerance to freezing temperatures in winter, but resumed healthy growth the following spring. 'BL2' showed the highest PGI of 104.53 cm by February 2019, which might be helpful toward suppressing weed and early establishment of tea plantation. The nine cultivars also showed varying leaf characteristics in terms of leaf length, width, area, fresh and dry weights, and new shoot weight. There existed a diversity in leaf biochemical composition including soluble solids, carbohydrates, total polyphenols (TP), free amino acids (AA), L-theanine and caffeine among the nine cultivars and among different harvesting seasons of spring, summer, and fall within a certain cultivar. The nine cultivars in this study generally grow well in local environment. All tea samples collected from nine cultivars and three seasons were considered suitable for green tea processing with low TP/AA ratios ranging from 1.72 to 3.71 in this study. Volatile flavor compounds (VFCs) and nutrients in Viscum articulatum Burm.f. parasitic on ancient tea trees (named TM) were studied in this research by headspace solid‐phase microextraction (HS‐SPME)/gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and conventional methods. Sixty‐six volatile compounds belonging to different classes were identified by GC–MS. The ketones, alcohols, and aldehydes were the principal aroma groups in TM according to principle component analysis (PCA). The most abundant aroma components in TM included benzaldehyde (9.64%), geranylacetone (7.92%), epoxy‐β‐ionone (7.71%), β‐linalool (7.35%), methyl salicylate (6.96%), and hotrienol (6.14%), significantly higher than CKs (p < .05). The positive PC1 and PC2 in TM were correlated with benzaldehyde, hotrienol, methyl salicylate, and geranylacetone. The mistletoes could be differentiated from CKs due to the difference in aroma compounds. Clean and fresh, woody and nutty odor with minor floral scent was the characteristics of TM. Analysis of the nutritional components showed that contents of polyphenols and catechins in TM were at trace levels, significantly lower than CKs (p < .05). The total contents of polyphenols, amino acids, carbohydrates, and caffeine in TM were significantly lower from the total soluble solids (p < .05), indicating that there were still lots of compounds undetected in TM. Newly graduated nurses are generally defined as nurses with a service period of six months to one year. Data were collected using an online questionnaire support platform, including the Nursing Shared Decision‐Making Attitude scale, Jefferson scale of Empathy‐Health profession students and the Health Sciences Evidence‐Based Practice questionnaire. All data were analysed descriptively, and correlational analysis and hierarchical regression were used to make identical connections between variables.Newly graduated nurses supported shared decision‐making. Perceptions of shared decision‐making were correlated with the experiences of empathy and evidence‐based practice. Additionally, perspective‐taking of empathy and beliefs, and the ability to search for and apply existing scientific findings of evidence‐based practice had a significant impact on more positive attitudes.The survey showed that acceptance of shared decision‐making was positive among newly graduated nurses. Clinical nursing managers and teachers should pay attention to cultivating the evidence‐based practice and empathy of newly graduated nurses to adopt an optimistic attitude towards shared decision‐making in the long term.The survey addresses attitudes of shared decision‐making among newly graduated nurses and determines whether empathy and evidence‐based practice has an impact on it. The main finding is that newly graduated nurses have an optimistic outlook on the implementation of shared decision‐making. This survey showed that empathy and evidence‐based practice competencies are associated with shared decision‐making attitudes among newly graduated nurses. Atherosclerosis is the major cause of myocardial infarction and stroke, which is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in developed countries. During the pathological process of atherosclerosis, inflammation participates in all stages of atherosclerosis. Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), one of the most important inflammatory factor, induces apoptosis of endothelial cells, which play a central role in endothelial dysfunction. However, the underlying mechanism involved in long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) remains unclear. In the present study, we demonstrated the role of lncRNA highly upregulated in liver cancer (HULC) in TNF-α-induced apoptosis. HULC expression was decreased with TNF-α treatment. Restoring HULC expression rescued the apoptosis induced by TNF-α. HULC regulated TNF-α-induced apoptosis through regulation of miR-9 expression.
