Abstract Several studies have observed renal cell ferroptosis during cisplatin‐induced acute kidney injury (AKI). However, the mechanism is not completely clear. In this study, oxidized arachidonic acid (AA) metabolites are increased in cisplatin‐treated HK‐2 cells. Targeted metabolomics showed that the end product of pyrimidine biosynthesis is decreased and the initiating substrate of pyrimidine biosynthesis is increased in cisplatin‐treated mouse kidneys. Mitochondrial DHODH, a key enzyme for pyrimidine synthesis, and its downstream product CoQH2, are downregulated. DHODH overexpression attenuated but DHODH silence exacerbated cisplatin‐induced CoQH2 depletion and lipid peroxidation. Mechanistically, renal DHODH acetylation is elevated in cisplatin‐exposed mice. Mitochondrial SIRT3 is reduced in cisplatin‐treated mouse kidneys and HK‐2 cells. Both in vitro SIRT3 overexpression and in vivo NMN supplementation attenuated cisplatin‐induced mitochondrial DHODH acetylation and renal cell ferroptosis. By contrast, Sirt3 knockout aggravated cisplatin‐induced mitochondrial DHODH acetylation and renal cell ferroptosis, which can not be attenuated by NMN. Additional experiments showed that cisplatin caused mitochondrial dysfunction and SIRT3 SUMOylation. Pretreatment with mitochondria‐target antioxidant MitoQ alleviated cisplatin‐caused mitochondrial dysfunction, SIRT3 SUMOylation, and DHODH acetylation. MitoQ pretreatment protected against cisplatin‐caused AKI and renal cell ferroptosis. Taken together, these results suggest that mitochondrial dysfunction‐evoked DHODH acetylation partially contributes to renal cell ferroptosis during cisplatin‐induced AKI.

Abstract Evolutionary algorithms, such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), are widely applied to UAV path planning problems. However, the fixed particle length of PSO, which may not be suitable for the scenario, will compromise the search efficiency. This paper proposes the RGG-PSO+ method, which adapts to scenarios by dynamically adjusting the number of waypoints. Random geometric graphs (RGG) and the divide-and-conquer paradigm are involved in improving the proposed method. Comparative analyses with established heuristic methods demonstrate RGG-PSO+’s superior performance in complex environments, particularly in terms of convergence speed and path length. The implementation of RGG significantly improves the F-Measure, indicating a shift from exploration to exploitation of PSO’s iterations, and the implementation of the divide-and-conquer paradigm is evident in the improved mean and variance of normalized path lengths.

Increasing evidences demonstrate that environmental stressors are important inducers of acute kidney injury (AKI). This study aimed to investigate the impact of exposure to Cd, an environmental stressor, on renal cell ferroptosis. Transcriptomics analyses showed that arachidonic acid (ARA) metabolic pathway was disrupted in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Targeted metabolomics showed that renal oxidized ARA metabolites were increased in Cd-exposed mice. Renal 4-HNE, MDA, and ACSL4, were upregulated in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Consistent with animal experiments, the in vitro experiments showed that mitochondrial oxidized lipids were elevated in Cd-exposed HK-2 cells. Ultrastructure showed mitochondrial membrane rupture in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Mitochondrial cristae were accordingly reduced in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Mitochondrial SIRT3, an NAD+-dependent deacetylase that regulates mitochondrial protein stability, was reduced in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Subsequently, mitochondrial GPX4 acetylation was elevated and mitochondrial GPX4 protein was reduced in Cd-exposed mouse kidneys. Interestingly, Cd-induced mitochondrial GPX4 acetylation and renal cell ferroptosis were exacerbated in Sirt3−/− mice. Conversely, Cd-induced mitochondrial oxidized lipids were attenuated in nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN)-pretreated HK-2 cells. Moreover, Cd-evoked mitochondrial GPX4 acetylation and renal cell ferroptosis were alleviated in NMN-pretreated mouse kidneys. These results suggest that mitochondrial GPX4 acetylation, probably caused by SIRT3 downregulation, is involved in Cd-evoked renal cell ferroptosis.

Abstract Background Studies on antiretroviral therapy (ART) in children living with HIV (CLHIV) are limited due to the small population and low accession rate of ART. Methods All 0-14-year-old CLHIV admitted to the Ganzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention from January 2006 to June 2023 were included retrospectively. The information of treatment regimens, disease progression, and laboratory tests of the patients under ART were used to explore the outcomes and impacts of long-term ART. The normality of all the data was tested by the Shapiro-Wilk test. Results From 2006 to 2023, 18 CLHIV were reported in Ganzhou. Among them, 11 received ART and were followed up for 60.0 ± 48.4 months. After receiving ART, the median viral load of them decreased from 89,600 copies/ml to 22 copies/ml (P = 0.007), the median CD4+ T cell count increased from 380.7 cells/µL to 661.9 cells/µL (P = 0.028), and the median CD8+ T cell count decreased from 1065.8 cells/µL to 983.3 cells/µL (P = 0.584). The laboratory test results regarding liver function, renal function, blood cell count, and glucolipid metabolism tended to be within normal reference ranges, and the mean height-for-age z-score and weight-for-age z-score increased. However, all the three CLHIV who received cotrimoxazole developed pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, upper respiratory infection, skin lesions, bacterial pneumonia and/or thrush; the mean body-mass-index-for-age z-score decreased from 0.52 to -0.63. Conclusion For CLHIV, ART could effectively inhibit the replication of HIV and improve the immune function of patients. More studies that focus on ART in CLHIV are urgently needed.

In the past 50 years, testosterone (T) level in men has declined gradually. In this research, we discovered that acute exposure to 1-nitropyrene (1-NP), an environmental stressor from polluted atmosphere, reduced T contents by downregulating steroidogenic proteins in mouse testes and Leydig cells. Acute 1-NP exposure caused GCN2 activation and eIF2α phosphorylation, a marker of integrated stress, in mouse testes and Leydig cells. GCN2iB, a selective GCN2 kinase inhibitor, and siGCN2, the GCN2-targeted short interfering RNA, attenuated 1-NP-induced reduction of steroidogenic proteins in Leydig cells. Mechanistically, mitochondrial membrane potential was reduced and ATP5A, UQCRC2, SDHB and NDUFB8, four OXPHOS subunits, were reduced in 1-NP-exposed Leydig cells. Cellular mitochondrial respiration was inhibited and ATP production was reduced. Moreover, mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) were elevated in 1-NP-exposed Leydig cells. The interaction between GCN2 and uL10, a marker of ribosome stalling, was observed in 1-NP-exposed Leydig cells. MitoQ, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, attenuated1-NP-evoked ATP depletion and ribosome stalling in Leydig cells. Moreover, MitoQ suppressed 1-NP-caused GCN2 activation and eIF2α phosphorylation in Leydig cells. In addition, MitoQ alleviated 1-NP-induced steroidogenic inhibition in mouse testes. In conclusion, mitochondrial ROS-mediated ribosome stalling and GCN2 activation are partially involved in environmental stress-induced steroidogenic inhibition in testes.

Purpose: This study was to analyze the efficacy and safety of thulium laser resection of bladder tumor (Tm-TURBT) versus TURBT for patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Materials and Methods: Randomized controlled trial data were retrieved using the MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. We also searched Chinese databases including Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang data and VIP data. Results: A total of sixteen articles including 1662 participants were enrolled into our meta-analysis. We found no significant difference in terms of operation time, urethral stricture, 1-year recurrence rate, overall 1-year recurrence rate and overall 3-year recurrence rate between the two groups. Less intraoperative blood loss and a lower incidence of obturator nerve reflex (ONR), bladder perforation and bladder irritation were identified in Tm-TURBT group than in TURBT group in our analysis. The analysis also demonstrated faster postoperative recovery in terms of the catheterization, bladder irrigation and hospitalization time in Tm-TURBT group. The subgroup analysis was conducted based on different postoperative chemotherapy (epirubicin and non-epirubicin) concerning recurrence rate whereas no significant difference was noted. Conclusion: Tm-TURBT is an efficient and safe treatment for NMIBC and it could be an alternative choice for TURBT. Given that some limitations are clearly identified, more large-scale and well-designed RCTs are needed to confirm our findings.

Most plants of Ligusticum have an important medicinal and economic value with a long history, Ligusticum sinense and L. jeholense (“Gaoben”) has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of carminative, dispelling cold, dehumidification, and analgesia. While in the market Conioselinum vaginatum (Xinjiang Gaoben) is substitution for Gaoben, and occupies a higher market share. These three Gaoben-related medicinal materials are similar in morphology, and are difficult to distinguish from each other by the commonly used DNA barcodes. The chloroplast genome has been widely used for molecular markers, evolutionary biology, and barcoding identification. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome sequences of C. vaginatum, L. sinense, and L. jeholense were reported. The results showed that the complete chloroplast genomes of these three species have typical quadripartite structures, which were comprised of 148,664, 148,539, and 148,497 bp. A total of 114 genes were identified, including 81 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 29 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. Our study indicated that highly variable region ycf2-trnL and accD-ycf4 that can be used as specific DNA barcodes to distinguish and identify C. vaginatum, L. sinense, and L. jeholense. In addition, phylogenetic study showed that C. vaginatum nested in Ligusticum and as a sister group of L. sinense and L. jeholense, which suggested these two genera are both in need of revision. This study offer valuable information for future research in the identification of Gaoben-related medicinal materials and will benefit for further phylogenetic study of Apiaceae.

Abstract Diabetic sensory neuropathy leads to impairment of peripheral sensory nerves and downregulation of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in a functionally specific subset of peripheral sensory neurons mediating pain. Whether CGRP plays a neuroprotective role in peripheral sensory nerve is unclear. We evaluated alterations in noxious thermal sensation and downregulation of CGRP in the 8 weeks after induction of diabetes in rats. We supplemented capsaicin in the diet of the animals to upregulate CGRP and reversed the downregulation of the neuropeptide in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons dissociated from the diabetic animals, via gene transfection and exogenous CGRP, to test disease-preventing and disease-limiting effects of CGRP. Significant preservation of the nociceptive sensation, CGRP in spinal cord and DRG neurons, and number of CGRP-expressing neurons was found in the diabetic animals given capsaicin. Improvement in the survival of the neurons and the outgrowth of neurites was achieved in the neurons transfected by LV-CGRP or by exogenous CGRP, paralleling the correction of abnormalities of intracellular reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial transmembrane potentials. The results suggest that downregulation of CGRP impairs viability, regeneration and function of peripheral sensory neurons while capsaicin normalizes the CGRP peptidergic DRG neurons and function of the sensory nerves.

Several studies found that reduction of 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC), a marker of DNA hydroxymethylation highly enriched in developing brain, is associated with anxiety-like behaviors. This study aimed to investigate whether gestational arsenic (As) exposure induces anxiety-like behaviors in adult offspring by reducing DNA hydroxymethylation in the developing brain. The dams drank ultrapure water containing NaAsO2 (15 mg/L) throughout pregnancy. Anxiety-like behaviors were evaluated and developing brain 5hmC was detected. Results showed that anxiety-like behaviors were observed in As-exposed adult offspring. In addition, 5hmC content was reduced in As-exposed fetal brain. Despite no difference on Tet1, Tet2 and Tet3 expression, TET activity was suppressed in As-exposed fetal brain. Mechanistically, alpha-ketoglutarate (α-KG), a cofactor for TET dioxygenases, was reduced and Idh2, a key enzymatic gene for mitochondrial α-KG synthesis, was downregulated in As-exposed fetal brain. Of interest, ascorbic acid, a cofactor for TET dioxygenases, reversed As-induced suppression of TET activity. Moreover, ascorbic acid attenuated As-induced reduction of 5hmC in fetal brain. In addition, ascorbic acid alleviated As-induced anxiety-like behaviors in adult offspring. Taken together, these results suggest that gestational As exposure induces anxiety-like behaviors in adult offspring, possibly at part, by inhibiting DNA hydroxymethylation in developing brain.

Coumarins and flavonoids are the major constituents of Toddalia asiatica. The separation and purification of ingredients from T. asiatica is an important procedure to acquire high-purity compounds for subsequent pharmacological investigation to discover leading compounds. In the present work, an offline two-dimensional high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was successfully established for the separation of high-purity glycosides from T. asiatica. Based on the separation results obtained with two different chromatographic stationary phases, a phenyl-bonded silica-based reversed-phase column was employed as the first HPLC preparation, and three fractions were obtained from the sample. Then, the fractions were isolated and purified on an octadecyl-bonded silica-based reversed-phase column to obtain high-purity compounds in the second HPLC separation. As a result, three coumarin glycosides, including two undescribed and one known, along with one known flavonoid glycoside with more than 98% purity were isolated from the sample. The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic evidence derived from optical rotation, mass spectrometry, and nuclear magnetic resonance experiments. Two-dimensional HPLC with different stationary phases has the potential to be an efficient method for the separation of high-purity compounds from T. asiatica.

Escopoletin, a phenolic compound belonging to anthocyanin family shows promising antioxidant activities. In the present study, anti-cancer effects of escopoletin treatment in DU145 cells were investigated. The sulphorhodamine-B staining and annexin V and propidium iodide were respectively used for the analysis of cell viability and death. The results revealed a significantly higher cytotoxicity by escopoletin that caused cell death in DU145 cells. Escopoletin treatment in DU145 cells markedly inhibited cell growth through non-apoptotic cell death and induced significant reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. It also induced G1 cell cycle arrest and cyclin D1 accumulation through the enhanced expression of p21. However, the effect of escopoletin on DU145 cells was reversed by pretreatment with glutathione antioxidant. This suggests that escopoletin induced generation of ROS is responsible for the increased cytotoxicity in DU145 cells. Thus, escopoletin exhibits potential therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The title compound, 14β-acetoxy-7α-hydroxy-ent-kaur-16-ene-3,15-dione or glaucocalyxin B, C22H30O5, a natural ent-kaurane diterpenoid, is composed of four rings with the expected cis and trans ring junctions. In the crystal structure, there are two molecules in the asymmetric unit related by a noncrystallographic twofold screw axis, and ring A is disordered [ratio occupancies 0.829 (19):0.171 (19)], such that both chair and boat conformations are present, but with the boat conformation as the major component. In the crystal, molecules are linked by intermolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds.

During a parasitological survey of goldfish Carassius auratus (Linnaeus, 1758) in China, two myxosporeans were collected in the present study including a Thelohanellus species and a Myxobolus species. To identified the two myxosporeans, a morphological, histological and molecular study was performed. The Thelohanellus species was characterized by round, white plasmodia in fins of goldfish. Compared with all described Thelohanellus species, spore morphology of the Thelohanellus species in the present study was distinct from them. BLAST search showed that SSU rDNA sequence of this Thelohanellus species did not match any sequence in GenBank database. Phylogenetically, the Thelohanellus species obtained in the present study was sister to Thelohanellus nikolskii Achmerov, 1955. So, the present Thelohanellus species was identified as a novel species and named Thelohanellus pseudonikolskii n. sp. The Myxobolus species was characterized by a number of round or irregularly shaped, white plasmodia in gills of goldfish. When compared with all reported Myxobolus species, spore morphology of the present Myxobolus species was most similar to Myxobolus koi Kudo, 1920. Histological analysis showed that plasmodia of this Myxobolus species simultaneously developed in stratified epithelium of filament and in lamellae, which was same to M. koi. Moreover, BLAST search showed that SSU rDNA sequence of the present Myxobolus species was identical to M. koi. Thus, the morphological, histological and molecular analysis demonstrated that the present Myxobolus species was conspecific with M. koi. Due to M. koi consistently described from gills of common carp Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758 and koi carp C. carpio in the previous researches, M. koi was first found to infect gills of goldfish in the present study. Considering koi carp and goldfish both as ornamental fish frequently cultured together in China, the possible host shift of M. koi from koi carp to goldfish is of interest for further investigation.

Background: To sustain both permanent residents and an intense tourism industry, Barbados overpumps its sole source of natural freshwater--the aquifer. Climate change is projected to increase both storm intensity and drought, further hampering groundwater recharge. These intense rainfalls quickly saturate topsoil and result in extensive surface run-off that causes %ooding, erosion, sedimentation, and eutrophication. By providing more water for households and reducing aquifer withdrawal, rainwater harvesting has the potential to both mitigate water scarcity and reduce the amount of harmful run-off. However, rainwater harvesting is not currently practiced in Barbados. This paper proposes a hurricane-resistant rainwater harvesting, storage, and distribution system to be implemented in an affordable housing community in St. Thomas, Barbados. Methods: In the creation of the distribution system, social, economic and environmental concepts need to be considered. A $eld survey was conducted within the neighbourhood to understand what residents felt the local water supply lacked. Afterwards, a detailed rainfall analysis allowed for determination of the amount of rainwater that can realistically be captured. Finally, after consulting with various academic experts, local industry members, and supply stores, this allowed for the determination of an affordable design. Results: The $ndings suggest that an initial household investment of $2,790.90 BBD appears adequate to provide a system for rainwater harvesting, dual plumbing, and communal distribution which can withstand and utilize 1/50 years storms. Limitations: Given that rainwater harvesting is not currently practiced in Barbados, government initiatives are needed to encourage its development. Conclusion: Affordable rainwater harvesting, dual plumbing, and community distribution systems can be implemented to possibly reshape life in countries facing water scarcity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cloud radiative and mierophysieal effeets on the relation between spatial mean rain rate, rain intensity and fraetional rainfall eoverage are investigated in this study by eondueting and analyzing a series of two-dimensional eloud resolving model sensitivity experiments of pre-summer torrential rainfall in June 2008. The analysis of time-mean data shows that the exelusion of radiative effeets of liquid elouds reduees domain mean rain rate by deereasing eonveetive rain rate mainly through the redueed eonveetive-rainfall area assoeiated with the strengthened hydrometeor gain in the presenee of radiative effeets of iee elouds, whereas it inereases domain mean rain rate by enhaneing eonveetive rain rate mainly via the intensified eonveetive rain intensity assoeiated with the enhaneed net eondensation in the absenee of radiative effeets of iee elouds. The removal of radiative effeets of iee elouds deereases domain mean rain rate by redueing stratiform rain rate through the suppressed stratiform rain intensity related to the suppressed net eondensation in the presenee of radiative effeets of liquid elouds, whereas it inereases domain mean rain rate by strengthening eonveetive rain rate mainly via the enhaneed eonveetive rain intensity in response to the enhaneed net eondensation in the absenee of radiative effeets of liquid elouds. The elimination of mierophysieal effeets of iee elouds suppresses domain mean rain rate by redueing stratiform rain rate through the redueed stratiform-rainfall area assoeiated with severely redueed hydrometeor loss. Objective Type 2 diabetes mellitus is increasing in young adults, and greater adiposity is considered a major risk factor. However, whether there is an association between obesity and diabetes and how this might be impacted by age is not clear. Therefore, we investigated the association between body mass index (BMI) and diabetes across a wide range of age groups (20-30, 30-40, 40-50, 50-60, 60-70 and ≥70 years old). Design We performed a retrospective cohort study using healthy screening programme data. setting A total of 211 833 adult Chinese persons >20 years old across 32 sites and 11 cities in China (Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Changzhou, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hefei, Wuhan, Nantong) were selected for the study; these persons were free of diabetes at baseline. Primary and secondary outcome measures Fasting plasma glucose levels were measured and information regarding the history of diabetes was collected at each visit. Diabetes was diagnosed as fasting plasma glucose ≥7.00 mmol/L and/or self-reported diabetes. Patients were censored at the date of diagnosis or the final visit, whichever came first. results With a median follow-up of 3.1 years, 4174 of the 211 833 participants developed diabetes, with an age-adjusted incidence rate of 7.35 per 1000 persons. The risk of incident diabetes increased proportionally with increasing baseline BMI values, with a 23% increased risk of incident diabetes with each kg/m² increase in BMI (95% CI 1.22 to 1.24). Across all age groups, there was a linear association between BMI and the risk of incident diabetes, although there was a stronger association between BMI and incident diabetes in the younger age groups (agexBMI interaction, p<0.0001). Conclusions An increased BMI is also independently associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes in young adults and the effects of BMI on incident diabetes were accentuated in younger adults. Oxidative stress has been demonstrated to be important during myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI). The lazaroid U83836E, which combines the amino functionalities of the 21-aminosteroids with the antioxidant ring portion of vitamin E, is a reactive oxygen species scavenger. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of U83836E on MIRI and its mechanisms of action. Rat hearts were subjected to 30 min ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery, followed by 2 h reperfusion. The results demonstrated that at 5 mg/kg, U83836E markedly protected cardiac function in ischemia/reperfusion rat models, decreased the malondialdehyde content and creatinine kinase activity, while increasing superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activity. Additionally, U83836E significantly decreased the histological damage to the myocardium, reduced the area of myocardial infarction in the left ventricle and modified the mitochondrial dysfunction. Furthermore, U83836E enhanced the translocation of protein kinase Ce (PKCe) from the cytoplasm to the membrane. However, the cardioprotective effects of U83836E were reduced in the presence of the PKC inhibitor, chelerythrine (1 mg/kg). Therefore, the results of the present study suggest that U83836E has a potent protective effect against MIRI in rat models through the direct anti-oxidative stress mechanisms and the activation of PKC signaling. Abstract: Polyploidy is reported to show increased tolerance to environmental stress. In this work, tetraploid plants of Dioscorea zingiberensis were obtained by colchicine treatment of shoots propagated in vitro. The highest tetraploid induction rate was achieved by treatment with 0.15% colchicine for 24h. Diploid and tetraploid plants were exposed to normal (28°C) and high temperature (42°C) for 5d during which physiological indices were measured. Compared with diploid plants, relative electrolyte leakage and contents of malondialdehyde, superoxide anions and hydrogen peroxide were lower in tetraploids, while activities of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase, were stimulated and antioxidants (ascorbic acid and glutathione) were maintained at high concentrations. These results indicate that tetraploid plants possess a stronger antioxidant defense system and increased heat tolerance. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Aim: To develop a high-throughput real-time assay based on molecular beacons to monitor the integrase 3′-processing reaction in vitro and apply it to inhibitor screening. Methods: The recombinant human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 integrase (IN) is incubated with a 38 mer oligonucleotide substrate, a sequence identical to the U5 end of HIV-1 long terminal repeats (LTR). Based on the fluorescence properties of molecular beacons, the substrate is designed to form a stem-loop structure labeled with a fluorophore at the 5′ end and a quencher at the 3′ end. IN cleaves the terminal 3′-dinucleotide containing the quencher, resulting in an increase in fluorescence which can be monitored on a spectrofluorometer. To optimize this assay, tests were performed to investigate the effects of substrates, enzyme and the metal ion concentrations on the IN activity and optimal parameters were obtained. Moreover, 2 IN inhibitors were employed to test the performance of this assay in antiviral compound screening. Results: The fluorescent intensity of the reaction mixture varies linearly with time and is proportional to the velocity of the 3′-processing reaction. Tests were performed and the results showed that the optimal rate was obtained for a reaction mixture containing 50 mg/L recombinant HIV-1 IN, 400 nmol/L substrate, and 10 mmol/L Mn2+. The IN 3′-processing reaction under the optimal conditions showed a more than 18-fold increase in the fluorescence intensity compared to the enzyme-free control. The IC50 values of the IN inhibitors obtained in our assay were similar to the values obtained from a radiolabeled substrate assay. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that this is a fast, reliable, and sensitive method to monitor HIV IN 3′-processing reaction and that it can be used for inhibitor screening.
