Objective: Cognitive intra-individual variability (IIV), dispersion of cognitive performance across cognitive domains, indicates diminished cognitive control resulting from brain pathology or aging. For people with HIV-Associated Neurocognitive Disorder (HAND), cognitive IIV may interfere with and/or be improved by cognitive training. In this current secondary data analysis, we explored whether cognitive IIV functions as an outcome or moderator variable in speed of processing (SOP) training in middle-aged and older people living with HIV (PLWH). Method: In this randomized clinical trial, 216 PLWH with HAND or borderline HAND were randomized to either: 1) 10 h of SOP training; 2) 20 h of SOP training, or 3) 10 h of Internet Navigation Control Training. Participants completed a seven-domain cognitive battery at baseline, posttest after training, and years 1 and 2 follow up; from this, the coefficient of variation (CoV) served as the cognitive IIV dispersion score. Participants also completed a gold-standard measure of SOP (i.e., Useful Field of View Test (UFOV®), a targeted cognitive outcomes of the SOP training paradigm) at each time point. Results: Using linear mixed-effect models, no strong pattern of SOP training effects were detected on cognitive IIV. However, a three-way interaction tests between time, group, and baseline cognitive IIV CoV suggested potential moderation effects. Stratified analyses showed differential treatment effects between the lower cognitive IIV and higher cognitive IIV group. Conclusions: Although SOP training did not improve cognitive IIV, cognitive IIV may be a modifier of SOP training. Implications for future research and other types of training are provided.

Abstract In this paper, we performed the design study of a wide-band digital autocorrelation spectrometer for the observation study of an extra-galaxy's spectral lines and the survey research of the special radio sources in field of the radio astronomy observational research. The autocorrelation spectrometer designed in this paper can be used to their spectrometer of any system because this spectrometer has a wide dynamic power and frequency range properties. In this system we use the aliasing sampling method to minimize the band loss. For the output signal of the correlator we can increase the signal processing speed using by a special DSP chip, the integration and the FFT using hardware, so this spectrometer can support the newest developed technique for the radio astronomy observation so called ``On the fly" method.

The surface and interface half-metallicity in one of the zinc blended-structured CrS(001) on GaAs is investigated by first-principles of energy-band calculation using the full-potential linearised augmented plane-wave method. It is found from the calculation of local density of states that both of the Cr-terminated and S-terminated surfaces retain the half-metallicity, but the band gap for the S surface is much reduced compared to that of bulk.

Abstract This paper summarizes functions and features of a new latch design, named as pawl latch from herein, for implementation on ramp loading disk drives, where a disk drive with a ramp would allow actuator to stay on the ramp outside the disk when not in use. The new latch system consists of two latch mechanisms: one is inertia latch and the other is magnetic latch. These two latches work together to obtain very reliable non-contact break free latch while maintaining high resistance during rotary shock condition. We show that, on an oriented Riemannian 4-manifold, existence of a non-zero parallel spinor with respect to a spin$^c$ structure implies that the underlying smooth manifold admits a Kähler structure. A similar but weaker condition is obtained for the 4-manifold to admit a symplectic structure. We also show that the $spin^c$ structure in which the non-zero parallel spinor lives is equivalent to the canonical spin$^c$ structure associated to the Kähler structure. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
