Abstract

The inferior tribological properties of titanium (Ti) and its alloys, due to their limited work hardening capability and the mechanical instability of their oxide scale, pose substantive challenges in practical applications. Surface texturing and the application of 2D material coatings are acknowledged as efficacious strategies for enhancing these properties. Nevertheless, the rapid loss of effectiveness when employing these methods in isolation highlights a significant limitation. Herein, a 50‐nm‐thick MXene nanocoating is deposited onto groove‐textured pure Ti surface, effectuating a reduction in the coefficient of friction (COF) from ≈0.57 to 0.17, thereby substantially mitigating wear on the Ti substrate. The grooved surface architecture plays a vital role in storing MXenes and facilitating lubricant replenishment through the stirring effect of frictional stress during subsequent friction process. Further, the continuous decomposition and reorganization of MXene coating results in the formation of a robust tribofilm that resists oxidation and plastic deformation in the subsurface layer, markedly enhancing the friction and wear resistance. These findings are crucial for improving tribological performance in Ti and its alloys and provide a straightforward yet effective strategy for tailoring their tribological properties by integrating LST with 2D material nanocoating. 41. Regulating the Crystal Facet Differences of In2O3 via Different Precipitants to Affect Methanol Selectivity.

Abstract

Under the background of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methanol (CH3OH) represents a crucial pathway for promoting green and sustainable development. In2O3 has gained attention as a promising material for CH3OH production from CO2 due to its controllable properties including morphologies, particle sizes and oxygen vacancies, along with its excellent selectivity in CO2 hydrogenation reactions. Herein, by employing various precursors, three distinct indium trioxide (In2O3) catalysts with varied morphologies and predominantly exposed crystal facets were synthesized. It is found that the In2O3 catalyst prepared using ammonia monohydrate (NH3⋅H2O) as a precipitator exhibits a primarily exposed (211) crystal facet. This catalyst demonstrates a CO2 conversion rate of 4.7 %, a selectivity of 55 %towards CH3OH, and a space velocity of 8000 ml gcat.−1 h−1, under reaction conditions of 280 °C and 3 MPa. The (211) crystal face of In2O3 is conducive to the generation of oxygen vacancies which shows exceptional active capabilities for CO2, and thus showing outstanding advantages in the selectivity towards CH3OH. The results underscore the importance of crystal facet engineering in tailoring the properties of catalysts for efficient CO2 hydrogenation to CH3OH. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

42. Strigolactone Alleviates NaCl Stress by Regulating Antioxidant Capacity and Hormone Levels in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Seedlings.

Abstract

Salt stress is a key environmental factor altering rice plant growth. Strigolactones (GR24) play a vital role in responding to various abiotic stresses and regulating plant growth. However, the regulatory mechanisms of SLs on rice seedlings under salt stress have not yet been clarified. A pot experiment was undertaken to evaluate the effects of GR24 soaking on the rice variety 'Huanghuazhan' (salt-sensitive) seedling growth, antioxidant metabolism, and endogenous hormones under NaCl stress. Results showed that NaCl stress significantly inhibited rice growth; disrupted antioxidant enzymes activity; and increased the content of soluble proteins (SPs), proline (Pro), malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen–peroxide (H2O2). GR24 significantly improved photosynthetic pigments and antioxidant–enzyme activities, including superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), and ascorbate–peroxidase (APX); increased SP, ascorbic acid (AsA); and reduced glutathione (GSH) content and MDA, H2O2, and Pro content, resulting in the mitigation of oxidative injury caused by NaCl stress. Moreover, GR24 significantly increased the content of strigolactones (SLs), cytokinin (CTK), auxin (IAA), Gibberellin A3 (GA3), and IAA/ABA and CTK/ABA ratios and decreased the abscisic acid (ABA). Findings indicated that GR24 alleviated oxidative damage caused by NaCl stress by increasing photosynthetic and antioxidant capacity and maintaining the balance of endogenous hormones, thus improving the salt tolerance of rice seedlings.
