The aim of this article is to test the fruitfulness of bringing together two research programmes, Course of Action (PRCA) and Distributed Cognition (PRCD), for the study of human-animal interactions. This development of the PRCA towards an "augmented PRCA" aims to raise new research questions, linked to the integration of animal activities and human-animal interactions in the field of practice analysis. This article makes an empirical contribution to the development of this program by analyzing human-horse communication, in particular the interactions between Cadre Noir écuyers and sauteur horses. To study interspecies interactions, we use several theoretical concepts from these two research programs: cultural practice, mutual appropriationaction, and another concept already explored in previous work, namely sensorimotor empathy. We argue that the cultural practice of airs above the ground, shared by the écuyer and the sauteur, is both a condition and a result of sensorimotor empathy, which develops through a process of mutual appropriation-action. This study confirms the relevance of an "augmented" PRCA to account for animal activities and interspecies interactions, and contributes to a better understanding of the latter. It opens up prospects for new empirical studies to be carried out that highlight the development of mutual sensorimotor empathy within other shared cultural practices between humans and animals. The 'distributed cognition' research program, initiated by Edwin Hutchins, has contributed to the development of the 'course of action' research program from 1987 until now. Edwin Hutchins has recently recognized the proximity between his last researches, developed in terms of embodied and distributed cognition, and the enaction paradigm, followed by this 'course of action' research program. The question of the definition of an "augmented 'course of action' research program" is now raised. Such "program" should, in relation with this enaction paradigm, deepen and synthetize the past contributions of the 'distributed cognition' research program to the 'course of action' research program and add new contributions from it. Such deepening, synthesis, and renewal of the contributions to the 'course of action' research program are made easy by the mutual contribution and addition of different theoretical and methodological results obtained by the two research programs. In our altering society, knowing how to do guidance has become a necessary skill. The orientation no longer follows a tubular and fixed course. It realizes by a succession of choices and opportunities of a reticular type. Nevertheless, the existing digital tools do not sufficiently respond to this new form of orientation. CAIRNS, the pedagogical tool we present here, is a possible answer to the renewal of these orientation practices. It takes into account aspects related to territorialization, gamification and distributed cognition. The protean form of guidance's territories requires the use of a multimetric system. For us, it is a geographical information system (GIS). Indeed, it presents the dual interest of being both a decision-making tool and a tool for processing the information collected. Cet article traite de la question de la jouabilité telle que présentée par le philosophe Jacques Henriot et étudie ce concept au regard de pratiques de coordination observées auprès de joueurs de jeux de rôle en ligne massivement multijoueurs (MMORPG). Notre analyse montre le caractère sociocognitif et distribué des activités des joueurs constitués en groupe. Si la jouabilité peut être entendue comme la potentialité ludique d’une structure, cette dernière n’est pas uniquement composée d’objets ou de règles. Elle est également constituée des autres joueurs en ce qu’ils forment avec le jeu un artéfact cognitif socialement distribué.

The DBO (Desires, Beliefs and Opportunities) theory of action proposed by analytical sociologists aims to provide an action-theoretical basis for building explanatory theories in sociology. Peter Hedström claims that the DBO theory is realistic because it does not make assumptions that are known to be false or seriously incompatible with the current scientific understanding about the nature of human action and cognition. This article nevertheless aims to show that the DBO theory is not only incomplete but also that its background assumptions are unrealistic, in the sense that they do not fit with the distributed nature of action-related cognition, which has recently become a growing topic of interest in cognitive sciences. The author also indicates that the neglect of the distributed and embodied aspects of cognition in the DBO theory leads to various biases in the process of constructing mechanism-based explanations in social sciences.
