The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, better known as the RCEP, is a free trade agreement signed by 15 countries from the Asia-Pacific region in November 2020. It took effect in January 2022. After presenting an overview of the agreement, this paper looks at the negotiations and the current state of the RCEP. It then focuses on its basic content, particularly from a legal standpoint, as it analyses the institutional framework, the decision rule, its legal sources and the dispute settlement system, without omitting to look at the agreement from an economic perspective.

Este estudo objetiva contribuir à formulação de uma Política Pública Nacional de controle de espécies exóticas através da caracterização do arcabouço institucional-legal brasileiro. Após a leitura de documentos diversos, concluí-se que existem obstáculos à construção desta política pública e evidencia-se a urgência da definição e estruturação de um organismo coordenador intersetorial dos agentes, assegurando a consistência das ações e a eficiência prática dessa política.This study aims to contribute to the formulation of a National Public Policy of control of exotic species, through the characterization of the Brazilian legal-institutional framework. After an extensive reading of the document, we concluded that there are obstacles to the construction of this public policy, and we also recognize the need of an urgent definition and structuring of a coordination of the agents of different sectors, assuring the consistency of the actions and the practical efficiency of this policy.
