Objective: Although a significant number of professionals who provide eating disorder (ED) treatment have lived experience with an ED in the past, there is no consensus on whether these professionals should use these experiences in treatment. This review aims to evaluate current literature on recovered professionals with an ED past treating ED patients, unravelling advantages and disadvantages in treatment, the impact on professionals and their surroundings, and implications for practice. Method: A systematic literature search was conducted which included 10 articles. We analysed qualitative data through a systematic synthesis. Strength of evidence was calculated for each subtheme. Results: Three themes and 14 subthemes were divided into categories. The category 'treatment (patient‐professional interaction)' was divided into: advantages, disadvantages and other implications for treatment. Additionally, the category 'professionals themselves' included subthemes that directly impact or relate to ED professionals: recovery as a non‐linear process, the significant role of self‐care and adverse feelings of professionals. Finally, the category 'work settings' included: company culture and training, supervision and professional development. Discussion: Recovered ED professionals are a promising addition to ED treatment due to the enhanced expertise of the professional. However, attention should be paid to the risk of distorted boundaries between patient and professional. The purpose of the present study is to analyze the social processes of the formation of single life in Ahvaz city. The research method is based on a qualitative method with a grounded theory approach, which was conducted in order to identify and understand the formation processes of single life through interviews with men who have this type of life in order to achieve a systematic understanding. In this study, 14 men who lived unmarried in Ahvaz city were selected by theoretical and purposeful sampling method. The data were collected and analyzed based on in-depth interviews. The analysis of the interviews based on of Strauss and Corbin coding system resulted in the formation of 18 sub-categories, 7 main categories including 1) single life as a continuum from situation requirements to lifestyle choices, 2) single life inspired by personal history, 3) single life, permanent process of legitimization, 4) single life, living against cultural prescription, 5) celibate life, living in the shadow of celibacy, 6) single life, an opportunity for personal and professional development and fulfillment, and 7) single life, a possibility to escape from pervasive surveillance, and finally led to the discovery of a core category under the title "single life; deconstruction of lifeworld of youth. This illustrated conversation between Parham Taghioff and Hamidreza Karami focuses on Taghioff's profound engagement with history and the philosophy of history within his photographic projects. The dialogue explores how Taghioff's work reveals the common tendency for individuals to unwittingly cast themselves as characters in the historical drama without a conscious understanding of their roles. Key projects, such as the 'Hands On/Hands Off' (2014) and the 'Asymmetrical Authority' series (2018), are discussed, emphasising the artist's reliance on personal historical understanding and historical memory. Taghioff highlights the dynamic nature of historical comprehension, stressing that continual emergence of new facts, documents and narratives prevents a definitive understanding of the past. The conversation also touches on Taghioff's perspective as a contemporary artist in Iran, highlighting the need to examine history to grasp one's contemporary position. The conversation concludes with insights into Taghioff's artistic methodology, involving the analysis and use of archival materials, texts and images to reconstruct and critically examine various historical perspectives. The present paper is the personal narration of the author reviewing her scientific pathways that led her toward the study of oxytocin. My work began with a pioneering study showing a decreased number of the serotonin transporter proteins in romantic lovers. This unexpected finding promoted my interest in the neurobiology of human emotions and feelings, and significantly shifted my research focus from diseases to physiological states that underlie “love.” During this time increasing experimental data broadened the spectrum of activities of oxytocin from female functions, such as parturition and lactation, to modulation of the stress and immune system. The literature also began to reveal an important role for oxytocin in a sense of safety and wellbeing, processes that are critical to both love and survival. I suggest here that future studies should disentangle different emerging questions regarding the exact role of oxytocin within human nature, as well as its possible therapeutic applications in different physiological conditions and pathological states. Understanding these, in turn, holds the potential to improve the lives of both individuals and societies.

This presidential address calls the membership to explore ways of doing justice work in their research, teaching, extension, and outreach activities. By sharing my story and developing a content analysis of presidential addresses and invited papers published in the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association journals, I demonstrate how race has shaped my work and the need for additional work in this area. Background: It is of vital importance to study the risk factors associated with suicidal behaviour. The purpose of this study is to analyse the presence of suicide ideation and related factors in an applied clinical environment. Method: A correlative-predictive study is conducted with a sample of 180 adult patients, 64% women, with an average age of 31.88 (SD = 14.473) at University Psychology Clinic of Complutense University of Madrid (CUP-UCM). Suicide ideation is analysed (measured by Item 9 of the BDI-II), together with its relationship with clinical diagnosis, symptoms of depression, hopelessness and a range of sociodemographic variables. Results: 31.7% of the sample had shown suicide ideation. Significant differences were found depending on: cohabitation unit, symptoms of depression, presence of hopelessness, personal history and being under pharmacological treatment. Living alone is postulated as a stable predictor of suicide ideation (with an OR of 0.403). Together with personal history, symptoms of depression and hopelessness, these factors explain 42.5% of the presence of suicide ideation (χ²(13) = 65.056; p < .001; R2 = 0.425). Conclusions: The high prevalence of suicide ideation in the clinical population and the risk factors found, confirm the importance of focusing on this phenomenon, in particular taking into account its presence within different problems beyond the diagnostic label and the significance in certain contextual factors (e.g., living alone). This article reconstructs the early history of the Soviet militia in Western Siberia. The research was based on the personal archive of Lieutenant Colonel A. N. Ovchinnikov and previously unpublished official documents stored in the archives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Altai Krai and in the Novosibirsk Region. The research featured A. N. Ovchinnikov’s professional activity and personal participation in the development of militia in the Altai Krai and Kuzbass. When A. N. Ovchinnikov joined the militia forces, the institution was undergoing some radical reforms, e.g. it merged with the Joint State Political Directorate, became militarized and politicized, etc. In the 1920s – 1940s, the Soviet militia turned into a command and administrative system that made collectivization and industrialization possible. Militia officers were evaluated not only by their professional qualities, but also by their party affiliation, political views, and education. The sources made it possible to reveal A. N. Ovchinnikov’s personal position in the process of militia development in the 1930s – 1940s. Despite the constant personnel shortage and the low level of education, the party managed to improve the discipline, qualifications, moral qualities, and political consciousness of militia officers, thus increasing their performance. The authors believe that personal historic narratives can be a valuable contribution to the historical studies of Soviet militia.

We are South African self-study researchers who started building our collaborative relationship as critical friends completing our doctoral studies. We have a keen interest in self-study research, and we all received our doctorates through self-study using arts-based research. Our collective self-study explores our doctoral work as critical friends teaching and learning using arts-based research in education. This article presents how we used memory work in a self-study project to elicit childhood memories for teacher--learner engagement and mentor--mentee knowledge sharing. We understand that a sociocultural theoretical perspective highlights the fundamental requirement of working together in educational contexts to make sense of collective and personal experiences. In addition, employing self-study research and revisiting our learning has assisted or even encouraged us to engage deeply with past life experiences to improve our teaching practice. We understand that our past experiences have the power to shape our teaching practices now and in the future. Although these experiences occur both inside and outside the classroom, the principles that we endorse remain the same: collaborative and interactive teaching and learning, and acknowledging the children's and our own earlier learning and backgrounds. SUMMARY: Values-based practice (VBP) is a framework of clinical theory and skills to facilitate a good process whereby the (often conflicting) values involved in clinical decision-making can be recognised and balanced productively. Many of these values come from the personal histories of the patient and of the clinician, and the traditions and history of psychiatry. New developments in science lead to increasing choice and increasing complexity of values. Therefore, psychiatrists will need more skills in this area, as reflected by the inclusion of VBP in the Royal College of Psychiatrists' training curricula. The experience presented is a timeline project in a first class through the reconstruction of a school year. Through active, interdisciplinary, inclusive and cooperative methodologies that require the analysis of sources and starting from the personal history of each child, each student discovers that they have a precise role, space and time in history and, at the same time, that their own story is part of a community characterized by the presence of other stories, of encounters and never of empty moments, thus giving value to the concept that says “we are history”.

Bobby Baker has been making innovative performance work for more than forty years. This essay takes a fresh look at two works – Drawing on a Mother's Experience and Table Occasion No 19 – through the prism of play theory. Play is sometimes disruptive, messy and dangerous, and it is sometimes silly, funny and welcoming. Through play worlds are created where things can be true and not true at the same time; play is taken seriously, but it is not serious. In play, it is possible to say one thing and to mean another. Exploring Baker's work as play reveals how she is able to present contradictory attitudes simultaneously. These performances engage with – and interrogate – a wide range of topics including the complexity of art, gender, domesticity, professionalism and mental health. Baker's play challenges the status of different forms of work and questions the labours of leisure and care. Each performance concludes with an attempt to reveal a discovery, but always holds back from polemic. This article shows that it is Baker's use of play that makes it possible for the artist to present an astute and nuanced argument in these works. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Who we are and who we become as educators is intimately connected to the historical and socio-political milieus in which we, ourselves, were educated and continue to work as educators. In this article I demonstrate how conventional conceptual metaphors are effective analytical lenses, through which we can explore our personal educational histories, rethink our current pedagogical practices and (re)envision our future educational philosophies. While higher education in South Africa attempts to respond to the post-Apartheid democratic project, it must also address the neoliberal ideology that has taken hold. Through personal history as method, I illustrate how a range of metaphors have enabled me to gain insight into the epistemological and ideological influences on my own educational history, the ways in which neoliberalism has infiltrated my current pedagogical practices, and led to a commitment to a future educational praxis characterised by critical hope, community and care. The article is devoted to the study of the personal history of superspies from British Intelligence James Bond and the Soviet intelligence officer Stierlitz. The special understanding of the myth with its historical features, which has been developed in the literature by the end of the 20th century, with the obligatory coverage of the repetitive patterns in the life of mankind is emphasized. The phenomenon of the mythologization of popular characters/heroes is considered through the prism of their personal history, formed by J. Semenov and I. Fleming, with the actualization of the foretype for their creation and an attempt to predict the mass reader’s demand for a set of certain qualities and features laid down in the new character. Particular attention is given to Bond and Stierlitz prototypes, prompting the search for real origins of novel characters and thereby creating a protoplast story based on the biography of writers and real figures of intelligent officers. The importance of the appearance of popular characters on the TV screen is emphasized. It is underlined that this process has significantly permeated the literary existence of Stierlitz and Bond, giving impetus to the creation of new stories, video games, jokes and funny stories about spies / intelligent officers among mass readers / viewers. Special perception by the mass audience of spy characters / heroes is stressed: whereas the mission of the 007 agent was to become the new symbol of England, to restore the honour of Britain in the eyes of the whole world – he was supposed to be not just a hero, but a man with extraordinary abilities that was irreconcilable to evil and eventually, could triumph over it, while remaining handsome gentleman conquering women’s hearts; Semenov’s hero did not possess Bond like eye-catching tricks, his main strengths were his ability to stay focused and think a lot, make responsible decisions and defend them to the end, relying only on himself. After difficult victories and bitter disappointments during the last 50 years of the 20th century, the reader needed an understanding of the fact that the romantic hero did exist and could perform a rescue mission. Therefore, the arrival of Isaev-Stierlitz and James Bond was anticipated, new mass characters / heroes were accepted unconditionally. Thus, the emergence of new literary characters in mass literature is perceived as a significant phenomenon of the era of I. Fleming and J. Semenov, and new myths among the mass readers and viewers are generated by their incredible popularity and constant interest in their personalities who have gone far beyond the scope of the novels.

The article aims at recuperating a certain image of Romania, as seen through the eyes of a writer who spent almost half a decade in our country, right before WWII yet he left extremely few written pages on his life and experiences while here. Therefore we resorted to Fermor's correspondence with various friends he had then made, among them Michel Alexis 'Bishi' Catargi, a member of the Catargi aristocratic family. Family history is employed as a means to deepen the understanding of personal history, within the context of the communist regime, while relating the private and public epitext with the literary text in order to highlight the interplay between memory md nostalgia. This paper summarizes the personal experience of an ophthalmologist who has been involved in medical education for over 60 years. With clinical experience and leadership positions within ophthalmology and in broad medical organizations, this paper chronicles the evolution of educational practice and approaches for over a half-century.

This article analyses images of the refugee in the novel Travellers (2019) by Helon Habila and examines their connection to dignity and personal history. Travellers captures the complex and intricate situations of refugees and migrants in Europe, providing insights about urgent social issues such as inequality, racism and discrimination. The novel also raises questions relating to human rights discourses and how they connect with personal history. While Travellers does not explicitly deal with the refugee crisis in 2015, during which about 1 million people sought asylum in Europe, it does address the situation of thousands of people trying to enter Europe for a variety of reasons and in different contexts. The theoretical framework is partly built around the concept of postmigration which attempts to go beyond seeing the migrant as the perpetual other and to advocate views of migration as an inherent part of society. The analysis focuses on instances of uncertainty and lack of unity, on migration as a separating, dividing experience, but also examines to what extent Travellers manifests and reinvents the postmigrant condition with its focus towards the future and seeing society itself as postmigrant, particularly through its depictions of dignity. Background: World Health Organization described drowning as serious and neglected public health problem. Nearly about 42 people every hour and 3.7 lakh people every year die due to drowning in the world. Method: The present study was undertaken at Government Medical College and Hospital located in Madurai on dead bodies brought for postmortem. The study was carried out during the period of January 2017 to December 2018 on 80 cases to study the various epidemiological parameters of drowning. Results and Conclusions: We have concluded that 75% victims were males and 25% were females. Drowning deaths were commonly seen in age groups of 11 to 20 years (25%). Maximum no of drowning deaths had occurred in urban region constituting 52% followed by rural region of 48%. Study also revealed majority of the victims were students constituting males 67% and females 33%. Number of victims of drowning deaths has familial and financial problems in males 78% and females 22%, depression seen in males 71% and females 29%. Number of drowning deaths occurred in September 16.5%. Most of the drowned victims were retrieved from river 59%, Wells 25%, Pond 29%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article is dedicated to the research of the structures and meaningful concepts of women's stories about the first childbirth, obtained by their personal experience in the governmental obstetrical system. Narratives of childbirth contain complex knowledge including description of physiological and emotional reactions and characteristics of Russian maternal initiation practices, culminating in the maternity ward. Similar narratives posted on social network and web pages of family portals reveal elements of hypertext and several leading factors of their origin, such as being the consolidation of a new identity through a retrospective autobiographical story, joining the community of motherhood, broadcasting experience to its new members, etc. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin (2000) is an engagement in layers of shifting identities and their eventual unravelling. The novel is dominated by the character and voice of Iris Chase, an octogenarian who slowly and fumblingly presents to the reader the fragmented and complex personal history of her family. The novel becomes an exercise in historiography through Iris's visitations to her and her sister Laura's youth in order to explain their tenuous relationship which is achieved through three parallel sources: Iris's own attempts at a memoir, journalistic documents and letters from the past, and excerpts from an infamous novel published forty years previously. My paper will explore the three narrative structures present in the novel, and attempt to understand the questions of authorship and writing, and their importance in building a historiographic narrative. It will try to examine the ways in which retrospective interventions into public history helps to counter and create identities which were hitherto repressed under social decorum. This paper will borrow from Linda Hutcheon's writings of the postmodern metanarratives in order to compose a lucid understanding of what alternative historiography in literature can achieve, keeping at the centre Atwood's novel. In Drosophila development, the axes of the egg and future embryo are established during oogenesis. To learn about the underlying genetic and molecular pathways that lead to axis formation, I conducted a large-scale genetic screen at the beginning of my independent career. This led to the eventual understanding that both anterior-posterior and dorsal-ventral pattern information is transmitted from the oocyte to the surrounding follicle cells and in turn from the follicle cells back to the oocyte. This article seeks to open a discursive space in which to reflect on issues of Holocaust historiography arising from emerging research on personal archives collected by "ordinary" people in relation to the Holocaust. The explorations, intended as a discussion piece, are anchored in a specific context, namely that of the Dorrith Sim Collection (DMSC) which is held in the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre (SJAC) in Glasgow. This collection offers a focus to concretize the historiographical discussion in a largely un-researched collection, while enabling consideration of a range of related collections and publications. The article investigates the historiographical practices of those involved in the collection, preservation, presentation, and publication processes, and considers the inherent ethical choices, choices that highlight the agency of the family, the archivist, and the scholar. Ethical choices, here, the investment of specific meanings and claims to significance, are amplified in this context because of their connection to genocide. I suggest that a "transparent historiography" that accounts for the research process within the published narrative could address the challenges arising from the necessity to be selective about what to collect, preserve, and write about, and how to do so. A dynamic linear-in-means model is applied in order to analyse the importance of social ties for the body weight-related behaviour of US youth. The methodology shows how to estimate peer effects free of the 'reflection problem' in a dynamic context where individual and group-specific unobservable effects are controlled for. The results show that the main drivers for the body weight-related behaviour are past and peer effects. For individuals who were normal weight or obese during adolescence, past and peer effects are shown to be both relevant. Peer effects, instead, explain more the variation in the body mass index (BMI) for individuals who were overweight during adolescence, showing in this way the importance of social interactions for body weight-related behaviour. Personal history has taken root firmly and become widely recognized in the society today. However, now that 40 years have passed since its inception, both the perception of personal history and writers' needs have changed in tune with changing times and society. The purpose of this article is to reveal the transition process in personal history by analyzing books on how to write one's own personal history. At the early stage of personal history, it could not be discussed without including one's war experience. As time went by, the generation that had experienced the war decreased. As a result of analyzing books on how to write one's own personal history, personal history was divided into three stages: I (early stage of personal history; the generation whose readers were deeply involved in the war), II (establishment stage of personal history; the generation whose readers were somehow involved in the war), III (generalization of personal history; decrease in the number of people who experienced the war). The contents of books on how to write one's own personal history have shifted from the trend of putting emphasis on descriptions of theory and essence to that of showing know-how to write one's own personal history such as writing styles and bookmaking.

This study examines the reader-response journals of an English learner (EL) who read two works of historical fiction in his English Language Development class at a public high school in California. Locating this study within the tradition of research on reader response, it investigates how the EL constructs his own individualized meaning by reflecting on his personal history in interacting with the literature and how he reconciles multiple perspectives on the historical events described in the novels vis-à-vis his prior knowledge. The findings suggest that the journals written in English functioned as a window into the EL's experiences and as an avenue toward understanding various perspectives. The study exemplifies how reader-response journals, in conjunction with literary course materials, can facilitate the process of ELs' language learning and deepen the ways in which they view and read the world. This essay explores how Charlotte Smith transports lines and themes from her Elegiac Sonnets (1784–1800) to transform her narrative of personal history in her final poem, Beachy Head (1807). While her personal history is inextricably connected to her relationship with the land in both works, Beachy Head offers a version of her history that is embedded in a much wider context of the geological history of the landscape. This prompts a reflection on the telling and reading of histories that complicates and recasts Smith's representation of both herself and the land, as she recognizes both to be dynamic. This essay reflects on my personal experiences conducting international comparative statistical studies in education as an employee of two U.S. federal statistical agencies between 1981 and 2011. Before 1982, the U.S. government involvement with large-scale international studies had been sporadic. By 1990, as a result of my initial support for the IEA, two U.S. federal agencies, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) supported research and development projects that raised the quality of international statistical comparisons on student achievement. My goal was to enhance existing international surveys so that the resulting statistical analyses would be perceived as a valid measurement of the performance of elementary and secondary students in multiple countries. • Includes a history of U.S. involvement in International large scale student assessment surveys. • A personal history of experiences with funding agencies and international scholars. • Explanation of how policy makers in U.S. learned to accept international comparisons. In this article, we engage in collaborative self-study through a critical friendship that is specifically designed to evoke our personal histories in relation to how we approach our practices as teacher educators. In particular, we focus on understanding the conceptual origins of our pedagogies of teacher education and how our identities as teacher educators were shaped, and continue to be shaped, by colleagues, teacher candidates, and by the process of self-study itself. We argue that the multiple studies that are available to any self-study research programme create a plurality of publics in which we identify, and are identified, in particular ways by particular members of the teacher education community. One significant avenue for our developing line of work concerns the ways in which our shared bilingualism plays out during our critical friendship, and how the use of multiple languages helps us to reframe our identities as teacher educators, particularly whilst engaged in translanguaging practices. I explore personal mentoring that I received on my journey to becoming an experienced educator at a university of technology. The context of my personal mentoring was the community where I was born and grew up. I used bricolage method by combining autoethnography and personal history research methodologies. Living theory assisted me to appreciate how values from special mentors have inspired my professional growth and practice. I generated data by working with artefacts in the form of photographs and an object. I nominated my father, mother, community members, maternal and paternal grandmothers as my personal mentors. Composing and reflecting on my personal history narrative revealed values learned from personal mentoring, which were motivation, kindness, care and selflessness. This study investigated the effect of valuators’ personal history and beliefs on valuation of ecosystem services around Mt. Rokko, which is located near Kobe, a major city in Japan. Special attention was paid to how differences in lifestyle, access to nature, and experiences during childhood influence willingness to pay (WTP) for peri-urban ecosystem conservation. The estimated values (median: 1858 JPY) were relatively higher than in previous case studies including one on the World Heritage forest in the country, but the value was not outlier of the literature. From the simple model estimation, we focused on the effect of individual differences. The full model including information of personal experience with nature revealed differences in WTP among residents. The basic characteristics of age and income were found to have a significant effect. Interestingly, it was also found that certain experiences during childhood had a significant effect on increasing WTP for ecosystem and biodiversity conservation. These findings suggest the importance of considering the diversity of valuators in ecosystem valuation studies under urbanization processes, and it also warns the extinction of experience with nature under on going urbanization for urban ecosystem conservation. This essay analyzes three novels by Zadie Smith in terms of content, influences and critical perception. My aim is to explore these novels and show how construction of characters, the depiction of the day to day life of banal existences, the disconnectedness that sometimes arrives in mid-life, issues of race and discrimination are a substitute for plot. Smith tends to do something new with every novel she writes, but she still has a couple of recurring themes and elements. Thus, through a comparison of the three novels, I will illustrate how Zadie Smith's narrative, through its influences and its construction of characters offers the perfect example of "plotless" fiction, as well as how this type of novel is more permissive in terms of style and more open to experimentation than novels with well-delimited plots. Storification is a theoretical technique which aims to construct the underlying relationships from discrete information for packaging them into a logical structure. In this paper, we focus on proposing the definition of serendipity-based storification in the personal history which is the combination of two-step processes: i) discovering hidden stories in the personal history and i i) representing stories using visualization techniques for easily grasping the information. MyMovieHistory Hong & Jung (Cybern Syst 46 (1-2), 69-83 ??) is used as the case study to demonstrate the effect of storification through detecting and presenting patterns in real personal data. The results can be utilized in helping people easily memorize and comprehend their histories. Moreover, additional benefits (e.g., reminding the pass, predicting the future, and communicating who you are) can be gained through the use of storification in the personal history. I have decided to approach this essay from a personal point of view. Would it help to read up about how other people did it, what were their coping mechanisms? Would it help if I could quote the statistics of how many elderly people emigrate back to their country of origin. Maybe, I say, but I am not in the business of statistics or politics. I am driven by emotions and my way of making sense of those is through my art practise. In fact, I tend to stay away from artists that line up too much with my work. The German artist Martin Honert comes to mind, but I will not look at more of his art, I want to find my own way within myself

Tinnitus is assumed to be the perception of sound that results exclusively from activity within the nervous system without any external stimulation. Approximately 1–2% of the population regard their tinnitus as a serious threat towards their quality of life. The way the patients describe their suffering varies, sometimes also depending on the interest and insight of the clinician to whom they turn to for help. The lack of insightful narratives of someone who is severely annoyed by the presence of a constant tinnitus sound may lead to limited and biased models of tinnitus suffering. In the present case study the participating patient, a woman aged 70, shared her experience of being victimized by tinnitus with the clinician/researcher during a number of psychotherapeutic sessions. The psychodynamic, narrative approach, made it possible for the client to articulate the unique and specific meaning that she experienced as being part of her suffering. In her words, tinnitus became a tolerable symptom that she managed to work through within psychotherapeutic alliance.

Introduction: Hip fracture is a health problem that presents high morbidity and mortality, negatively influencing the patient’s quality of life and generating high costs. Structured analysis of quality indicators can facilitate decision-making, cost minimization, and improvement of the quality of care. Methods: We studied 1571 patients aged 70 years and over with the diagnosis of hip fracture at Hospital Universitario de la Ribera in the period between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2016. Demographic, clinical, functional, and quality indicator variables were studied. An indirect analysis of the costs associated with adverse events arising during hospital admission was made. A tool based on the “Minimum Basic Data Set (CMBD)” was designed to monitor the influence of patient risk factors on the incidence of adverse effects (AE) and their associated costs. Results: The average age of the patients analysed was 84.15 years (SD 6.28), with a length of stay of 8.01 days (SD 3.32), a mean preoperative stay of 43.04 h (SD 30.81), and a mortality rate of 4.2%. Likewise, the percentage of patients with AE was 41.44%, and 11.01% of patients changed their cost as a consequence of these AEs suffered during hospital admission. The average cost of patients was €8752 (SD: 1,864) and the average cost increase in patients with adverse events was €2321 (SD: 3,164). Conclusions: Through the analysis of the main clinical characteristics and the indirect estimation of the complexity of the patients, a simple calculation of the average cost of the attention and its adverse events can be designed in patients who are admitted due to hip fracture. Additionally, this tool can fit the welfare quality indicators by severity and cost.

This paper proposes a user authentication using personal history of each user. Here, authentication is done by giving answers to questions about the history of user's daily life. Users do not have to memorize any password, since the passwords are what users already know by experience. In addition, everyday-life experience increases day by day, and thus the question could change on every authentication trial. In this paper, a user authentication system using user's e-mail history is shown as a prototype of our proposal, and some basic experiments to evaluate the availability of the system are carried out.
