Objectives: This study aims to compare the maternal and neonatal outcomes of weight gain during pregnancy in underweight women (BMI < 18.5 kg/m²) according to the 2009 Institute Of Medicine recommendations. Methods: This is an observational, single-center, historical cohort study, conducted from January 1st, 2017 to May 31st, 2019 at the Couple Enfant Hospital of the Grenoble Alpes University Hospital. Two patient groups were formed. Inadequate group: underweight women with insufficient weight gain during pregnancy (< 12.5 kg). Appropriate group: underweight women with an appropriate weight gain during pregnancy (≥ 12.5 kg). The main outcome was birth weight for gestational age. Results: 135 women were included in the study including 59 in the inadequate group and 76 in the appropriate group.
