Objective: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of percutaneous vertebroplasty(PVP) in treatment of vertebral hemangioma. Methods: The clinical data of 46 patients who were diagnosed as vertebral hemangioma and treated with PVP in our hospital from2008 to 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were followed up at least 6 months after the operation. The clinical outcomes, recurrence, curative effect, life quality and safety were evaluated and compared by visual analogue scale(VAS), modified Macnab criteria and SF-36 before and after operation. Results: The results of postoperative VAS score, quality of life were obviously improved compared with preoperative evaluation(P<0.05), and VAS score was gradually decreased with the time after surgery. There were 2 cases recurrence which had no symptom and no treatment. No other complications were detected. According to the modified Macnab criteria, the outcome showed the excellent and good rate was 93.5 %. Conclusions: PVP is a safe, effective and minimally invasive treatment for the vertebral hemangioma, which can obviously relieve the pain symptoms, and significantly improve the lumbar vertebral function and quality of life.
