Sheet metal forming that consists of discrete flow processes, is employed in a wide range of applications in industry. Aiming at supporting energy efficient manufacturing in sheet metal forming, an integrated framework is proposed. The framework comprises two layers, namely, operation management and data acquisition. Operation management is performed by three procedures, i.e., energy consumption modeling, energy performance evaluation, and production optimization. Through the operation management, suggestions for saving energy and improving production efficiency are proposed and implemented. Data acquisition is employed to provide useful information. Demonstration analysis in a stamping shop floor validates the feasibility of the proposed framework.
