The distributed estimation performance of multitask diffusion affine projection (AP) algorithm (MD-APA) will be greatly reduced under the impulsive noise interference. To overcome this defect, a robust MD-APA is derived by using M-estimate function (MD-APM) to resist the impulsive noise interference. The mean performance, mean square performance and steady-state performance of MD-APM algorithm are studied, and the convergence range of the step-size and the theoretical steady-state MSD are obtained. In addition, the computational complexity of MD-APM algorithm is analyzed in detail. Simulation experiments show that the proposed MD-APM algorithm has better estimation performance compared with MD-APA and MD-APSA under the impulsive noise interference, and its theoretical steady-state mean square deviation (MSD) can provide accurate prediction. Multi-channel active noise control (ANC) systems can achieve effective attenuation of low-frequency noise in spatial areas and have been extensively studied. Recent works have focused on the application of multitask diffusion strategies in ANC systems based on wireless acoustic sensor and actuator networks (WASAN), which show the advantages of saving computational burden and enhancing flexibility. However, these works all adopt the mean-square error minimization as the optimization criterion, which leads to severe performance degradation in the presence of impulsive noise interference. Therefore, in this paper, we exploit the M-estimate function and the augmented weight vector of the control filter to formulate a robust minimization problem and propose a distributed augmented diffusion filtered-x least mean M-estimate (DADFxLMM) algorithm for multi-channel ANC systems. The proposed algorithm leverages the M-estimate function to overcome the influence of outliers in the error signal and achieves robustness against impulsive noise, and also eliminates the dependence on the symmetry of the acoustic paths by integrating the augmented weight vectors. Moreover, we replace the score function with the update probability of the weight vector to avoid the need for integration and Price's theorem, and analyze the mean and mean-square performance of the proposed DADFxLMM algorithm under the contaminated Gaussian (CG) noise model. In nonlinear active noise control (ANC) system where the primary noise obeys non-Gaussian distribution, the traditional filter-s least mean square (FsLMS) algorithm is hardly satisfactory. In order to surmount this deficiency, a novel generalized hyperbolic secant function with l p norm (FsGHSFP) algorithm is proposed for nonlinear ANC system, which designs a robust optimization criterion utilizing the generalized hyperbolic secant distribution function. The FsGHSFP algorithm has robust noise attenuation capability for non-Gaussian noise, but suffers from the problem of tuning the parameter. To address this problem, an improved FsGHSFP (IFsGHSFP) algorithm is developed by taking advantage of the fact that continuous mixed norm does not need to adjust norm parameter. Moreover, in order to strike a balance between convergence and misalignment, thereby further enhancing the robustness of the ANC system, a convex combination algorithm of IFsGHSFP is suggested. The robustness mechanism of the proposed algorithms is analyzed, as well as stability conditions and computational complexity. It is verified by simulations that the proposed algorithms accelerate the convergence speed and improve the noise attenuation performance. The least mean kurtosis (LMK) algorithm has been successfully applied to linear system identification. It outperforms the conventional least mean square method for Gaussian and non-Gaussian noises. The purpose of this work is to apply the LMK algorithm to active noise control (ANC) systems, i.e., to develop a filtered-x LMK (FxLMK) algorithm. The proposed FxLMK algorithm is robust against the attenuation of various noise interferences in ANC system. To further improve the noise reduction performance, a recursive sampled variance method is incorporated into the FxLMK algorithm, resulting in an improved FxLMK (IFxLMK) algorithm without significantly increasing the computational burden. Simulations in the various noise inputs show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. Moreover, the traction substation noise control problem is considered in our simulations, and an overall system scheme and simulation studies are conducted. A method relying on the convex combination of two normalized filtered-s least mean square algorithms (CNFSLMS) is presented for nonlinear active noise control (ANC) systems with a linear secondary path (LSP) and nonlinear secondary path (NSP) in this paper. The proposed CNFSLMS algorithm-based functional link artificial neural network (FLANN) filter, aiming to overcome the compromise between convergence speed and steady state mean square error of the NFSLMS algorithm, offers both fast convergence rate and low steady state error. Furthermore, by replacing the sigmoid function with the modified Versorial function, the modified CNFSLMS (MCNFSLMS) algorithm with low computational complexity is also presented. Experimental results illustrate that the combination scheme can behave as well as the best component and even better. Abstract: In actual nonlinear active noise control (NANC) systems, there often exist nonlinear distortions in such cases: the primary path may be nonlinear, the reference noise may exhibit nonlinear distortion, and the secondary path may have nonminimum-phase. To solve the problems of nonlinear distortions, two novel feedback adaptive filters based on the functional link neural network (FLNN) for NANC systems with low computational complexity are proposed in this paper, which are a feedback functional link neural network (FFLNN) and a reduced feedback functional link neural network (RFFLNN), respectively. To train the proposed nonlinear filters for NANC systems, a reduced complexity filtered-s least mean square (FSLMS) algorithm using filter bank approach is developed. The analysis of computational complexity shows that the RFFLNN adaptive filter involves less computation as compared to FFLNN and FLNN adaptive filters. Moreover, it is demonstrated through computer simulations for nonlinear noise processes that the RFFLNN adaptive filter outperforms FLNN and FFLNN in term of convergence speed and steady-state error.
