Abstract

Additive manufacturing is emerging as one of the manufacturing technologies, which affect the traditional supply chain management. The traditional supply chain is based on a push system, whereas an additional supply chain is based on a pull system. In this work we have found the impact of 3D printing on supply chain management, what the risks and opportunities of 3D printing on the supply chain are and, also what the companies are doing to leverages these opportunities and risks. It has been concluded that the additive supply chain has drastically changed the traditional supply chain in four key ways i.e. time, quality, speed, and environmental impact. It will result in the effective management of resources, which is of immense importance, keeping in mind the sustainable development goals of a blue-chip organization. It will be cost-effective and will reduce the lead-time of the supply chain. It will result in increased customer satisfaction, as the product will be produced by mass customization and improved quality. Moreover, this will lead to flexibility in the manufacturing process, which will enhance industrial efficiency. Abstract

Additive Manufacturing (AM) is an innovative approach to manufacturing, which has proved itself way too efficient and opening a new era for complex designs and lattice structures. AM is a bottom-up manufacturing process that builds parts by stacking one layer over another. It is often called 3D printing which directly prints the object via material addition instead of subtraction in conventional manufacturing methods. It has shown a tangible approach to mass customization and unhindered options to create a complex design part. It has proved itself in many industries like the biomedical industry, aerospace industry, manufacturing firms, and academic research purposes. This article has reviewed the advancement of AM in the aerospace and biomedical industry. 3D printing technology has been incorporated in the biomedical industry to produce customized design features and implants for specific applications and performance. Implants effect like corrosion and carcinogenic properties have been discussed in the human body. The ability to obtained personalized and complex-shaped products with lower cost of development, less energy consumed during manufacturing, less material waste while facilitating in making the products on-demand are the unique benefits associated with additive manufacturing (AM). This work is a review comprising of the details on the early development of AM including key developments over the years, followed by discussion on the advantages offered by AM in relation to the traditional manufacturing methods. The purpose of this work is to help the researchers in the area to have an idea of emergence of the AM technology and gather the information associated since the creation of first three-dimensional (3D) object till the advancement in the field in recent years. Abstract

This paper discusses the design and development of an additive manufactured force transducer for force measurement applications. The force transducer is of square ring shape and dimensions have been evaluated in accordance to available literature. Fused filament fabrication technique has been adopted for fabrication of the force transducer and strain gauges have been applied at defined location in form of a Wheatstone bride. Efforts regarding metrological characterization are underway and successful demonstration of the force transducer will define a new development in the direction of force transducers. Abstract

In the era of Digital Manufacturing and supporting state-of-the-art, i.e. Additive manufacturing (AM) technology is getting more popular known as 3D printing, AM has created its own space in the fastest growing industry. 3D printing has evolved in previous years, and now, it is being used in several social life domains. The main application of this process has found in prototyping, aerospace industry, biomedical and dental implants. Additive manufacturing prints a part in a layer by layer or line by line pattern. It opposes the basic concept of traditional manufacturing. Advances in composite and multi-material manufacturing provide new opportunities for the convenient manufacture of lightweight parts and modern products, such as flapping wings, satellite brackets, and lightweight components for the aviation industry. It is a particular technology that varies from conventional and subtractive development in terms of lightweight, enhanced features, lower fuel consumption, and optimized machine performance, so on.
