In a predominantly agricultural landscape, areas with natural or semi-natural vegetation play an important role for biodiversity. Such is the case of a sector encompassing a former orchard with resettling steppe vegetation (Taraxaco serotinae-Festucetum valesiacae (Burduja et al. 1956, Răvăru et al. 1956) Sârbu, Coldea et Chifu 1999, Elytrigietum hispidi (Dihoru 1970) Dihoru et Doniă 1970, Galio octonarii- Stipetum tirsae (Ciocârlan 1969) Popescu et Sanda 1992) located in the northern part of Iai City. The analysed territory does not benefit from a protection status, even though it harbours species and phytocoenoses of habitats of community importance included within the Natura 2000 network. Our paper aims to highlight the conservative interest provided by an anthropogenic disturbed area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
