Community-based HIV/AIDS prevention interventions have become popular forms of preventive healthcare initiatives in the past several years. The authors examined the development of a new community-based HIV/AIDS prevention intervention and its impact on participants' HIV/AIDS-related knowledge, condom-use intentions, sexual behavior, and HIV testing status. Results indicated that the intervention had a significant impact regarding increased HIV/AIDS-related knowledge, decreased instances of unprotected sex, and increased likelihood of getting tested for HIV. Policy implications and recommendations for future research are also discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
