In this paper, we are concerned with the numerical solutions of the coupled fractional Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger equation. The numerical schemes are constructed by combining the Crank-Nicolson/leap-frog difference methods for the temporal discretization and the Galerkin finite element methods for the spatial discretization. We give a detailed analysis of the conservation properties in the senses of discrete mass and energy. Then the numerical solutions are shown to be unconditionally bounded in L2 −norm, H α 2 − semi-norm and L ∞ − norm, respectively. Based on the well-known Brouwer fixed-point theorem and the mathematical induction, the unique solvability of the discrete solutions is proved. Moreover, the schemes are proved to be unconditionally convergent with the optimal order O τ 2 + h r + 1 , where τ is the temporal step, h is the spatial grid size, and r is the order of the selected finite element space. Furthermore, by using the proposed decoupling and iterative algorithms, several numerical examples are included to support theoretical results and show the effectiveness of the schemes. Finally, the fast Krylov subspace solver with suitable circulant preconditioner is designed to effectively solve the Toeplitz-like linear systems. In each iterative step, this method can effectively reduce the memory requirement of above each finite element scheme from O M 2 to O(M), and the computational complexity from O M 3 to O (M log M) , where M is the number of grid nodes. Numerical tests are carried out to show that this fast algorithm is more practical than the traditional backslash and LU factorization/Cholesky decomposition methods, in terms of memory requirement and computational cost. This paper considers the long-time integration of the nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation involving the fractional Laplacian from the point of view of symplectic geometry. By virtue of a variational principle with the fractional Laplacian, the equation is first reformulated as a Hamiltonian system with a symplectic structure. Then, by introducing a pair of intermediate variables with a fractional operator, the equation is reformulated in another form for which more conservation laws are found. When reducing to the case of integer order, they correspond to multi-symplectic conservation law and local energy conservation law for the classic Schrödinger equation. After that, structure-preserving algorithms with the Fourier pseudospectral approximation to the spatial fractional operator are constructed. It is proved that the semi-discrete and fully discrete systems satisfy the corresponding symplectic or other conservation laws in the discrete sense. Numerical tests are performed to validate the efficiency of the methods by showing their remarkable conservation properties in the long-time simulation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a fast linearized conservative finite element method is studied for solving the strongly coupled nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equations. We prove that the scheme preserves both the mass and energy, which are defined by virtue of some recursion relationships. Using the Sobolev inequalities and then employing the mathematical induction, the discrete scheme is proved to be unconditionally convergent in the sense of L 2 -norm and H α / 2 -norm, which means that there are no any constraints on the grid ratios. Then, the prior bound of the discrete solution in L 2 -norm and L ∞ -norm are also obtained. Moreover, we propose an iterative algorithm, by which the coefficient matrix is independent of the time level, and thus it leads to Toeplitz-like linear systems that can be efficiently solved by Krylov subspace solvers with circulant preconditioners. This method can reduce the memory requirement of the proposed linearized finite element scheme from O ( M 2 ) to O ( M ) and the computational complexity from O ( M 3 ) to O ( M log ⁡ M ) in each iterative step, where M is the number of grid nodes. Finally, numerical results are carried out to verify the correction of the theoretical analysis, simulate the collision of two solitary waves, and show the utility of the fast numerical solution techniques.
