The article describes the case of a 2-year, 3-month-old Japanese female infant who experienced episodes of back contortion in apparent pain when she became warm, but the pain goes away when her body was cooled. Topics covered include the findings of clinical examinations which included skin biopsy and blood tests which led to the diagnosis of acquired idiopathic generalized anhidrosis (AIGA), and the positive response of the patient to steroid plus therapy without serious adverse events.

A letter to the editor is presented which describes the courses of treatment for patients with acquired idiopathic generalized anhidrosis (AIGA) using steroid pulse therapy or high-dose oral steroids.
