This study investigates the potential for significant enhancements in the gain and return loss of a microstrip antenna through the meticulous design of slits and a triangular slot in the radiation patch, coupled with precise dimensioning of these elements and careful selection of the feeding point. To this end, a microstrip patch antenna with multiple slits and a triangular slot was designed and simulated on an FR-4 with a dielectric constant (ε) of 4.4. In the initial configuration, the antenna exhibited a gain of 2.3 dB at 5.79 GHz for the maximum Eɵ at θ = 6º, with an S11 value of -16.5 dB. The antenna biasing and feed position were carefully optimized to achieve the desired performance improvements, in addition to meticulous design considerations for gain and return loss enhancements. The optimized antenna demonstrated a gain of 6.2 dB at 6 GHz for Eɵmax at θ = 0º, along with an S11 value of -24.3 dB. The final optimized configuration was fabricated and subjected to rigorous laboratory measurements for validation. The proposed antenna demonstrated an S11 value of -18.6 dB, along with a corresponding gain of 5.4 dB for Eɵmax at θ = 0º at 6 GHz. Furthermore, it was observed that the bandwidth increased by 330 MHz compared to its initial state. Finally, a comparative table is presented comparing the proposed antenna with other similar antennas found in the literature. Based on this table, it is evident that the gain enhancement can be achieved in a remarkable manner without altering the overall dimensions of the antenna and without the need for an expensive substrate with high permittivity. Design and performance enhancement of an S-shaped antenna with two additional slits and slots is presented. Initially, a parametric study was performed with two commonly used dielectric materials. First, FR4 with ɛr = 4.3 and thickness of 1.55 mm was used, followed by RO4003C with ɛr = 3.55 and thickness of 0.8 mm. Suitable for high frequencies, the RO4003C outperforms the affordable but lossy FR4. Thus, the antenna is fabricated with RO4003C. The simulated and measured results are in good agreement. Since the proposed antenna operates at two resonant frequencies, 10 GHz and 17.65 GHz, it is suitable for both X and Ku bands. The better gain was obtained at 10 GHz, with a measured gain of 6.3 dB. Finally, a comparative table is given, which reveals the superiority of the proposed antenna in terms of gain and compactness over some X-band antennas recently presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While copper is overwhelmingly used as the radiated part in microstrip antenna design studies, the choice of dielectric material offers a wide range of possibilities. At high frequencies, the effect of substrate permittivity on antenna performance is dramatically higher than low frequency microstrip antennas. For this purpose, in this study, a discussion on 4 different dielectric substrates to increase the overall efficiency of conventional sub-6 GHz 5G microstrip antenna is presented. A reference rectangular patch is modeled on FR4, Arlon AD300C, Rogers RO4003C and Mica substrates respectively. The radiating patch sizes are calculated and modeled for each dielectric substrate separately and then optimized for 5.65 GHz. Finally, gain and bandwidth analysis are performed with the help of CST Studio. Arlon AD300C, which is revealed to be the best in performance criteria analysis, is used for the proposed antenna fabrication and the simulated results are verified by bandwidth and gain measurements in a fully anechoic chamber. Finally, the advantages of the proposed antenna over some Sub-6 GHz 5G antennas with randomly selected substrates are confirmed by a comparative table. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reverberation chambers (RCs) are cheaper alternatives to anechoic chambers (ACs), and they are mainly made up of metal (ideally perfect and smooth) covered rooms. Their designs are not sophisticated as in AC, and EMC tests at precompliance level can be applied within a certain interval of error. For applying EMC tests to any equipment under test (EUT), the electric field uniformity in the room must be satisfied within a certain error. The volume having a uniform electric field is called as working volume (WV) where EUT for being subjected to EMC tests will be placed in. Positions and dimensions of scatterer such as Tx antenna that must be in the room determine the dimension of WV. Classically, position of transmitting antenna is changed continuously and randomly till obtaining WV and this process ends at any time within 3 days. Industry is always hurried and wants to know when to start testing. In this study, a fast and novel method with data mining has been proposed for overcoming this problem, and it achieves a success rate of 96% in 4‐5 hours. Due to the properties of inverse refraction, the metamaterials can focus the incident wave and can be used as a lens for high directive antennas. For this purpose, in this study, initially, a metamaterial unit cell is designed to exhibit metamaterial feature at 12 GHz and converted into a periodic layer. The reference antenna and the proposed metamaterial layers are simulated and fabricated. It is observed that the directivity of the reference antenna is increased by 2.74 dB with one layer of the proposed metalayer according to the measurement results. Finally, a double lens layer is used and an increase of 4.08 dB is observed. In the literature, the dimensions of metalayers, that is, used to achieve directivity enhancement, are larger than the patch size, but in this study we achieve a significant improvement with metalayers that have almost the same dimensions as the patch. However, the proposed antenna system is more effective than Ku-band antennas in the literature due to its high directivity compared to similar ones. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
