This review article examines the utility of artificial intelligence (AI) in anesthesia, with a focus on recent developments and future directions in the field. A total of 19,300 articles were available on the given topic after searching in the above mentioned databases, and after choosing the custom range of years from 2015 to 2023 as an inclusion component, only 12,100 remained. 5,720 articles remained after eliminating non-full text. Eighteen papers were identified to meet the inclusion criteria for the review after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The applications of AI in anesthesia after studying the articles were in favor of the use of AI as it enhanced or equaled human judgment in drug dose decision and reduced mortality by early detection. Two studies tried to formulate prediction models, current techniques, and limitations of AI; ten studies are mainly focused on pain and complications such as hypotension, with a P value of <0.05; three studies tried to formulate patient outcomes with the help of AI; and three studies are mainly focusing on how drug dose delivery is calculated (median: 1.1% ± 0.5) safely and given to the patients with applications of AI. In conclusion, the use of AI in anesthesia has the potential to revolutionize the field and improve patient outcomes. AI algorithms can accurately predict patient outcomes and anesthesia dosing, as well as monitor patients during surgery in real time. These technologies can help anesthesiologists make more informed decisions, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. However, the implementation of AI in anesthesia also presents challenges, such as the need to address issues of bias and privacy. As the field continues to evolve, it will be important to carefully consider the ethical implications of AI in anesthesia and ensure that these technologies are used in a responsible and transparent manner. In this paper we study the computational complexity issues of the problem of secondary domination (known also as (1, 2)-domination) in several graph classes. We also study the computational complexity of the problem of determining whether the domination and secondary domination numbers are equal. In particular, we study the influence of triangles and vertices of degree 1 on these numbers. Also, an optimal algorithm for finding a minimum secondary dominating set in trees is presented. Buckling-restrained brace (BRB) is an evolution of conventional braces, where it is not only increases the compressive strength of the brace but also improves seismic energy dissipation. The fundamental difference between the BRB and common types of braces is that in the BRB, buckling is prevented by a restraining mechanism, which leads to a reduction in the cross-sectional area of the inner core. This results in plastic deformations of the inner core of the BRB without global buckling, which causes seismic energy dissipation. Due to the superiority of the BRB over other types of dispersing devices, many studies have been conducted to increase its efficiency and reduce costs. The scope of these studies was to develop the basic parts (core, restraining mechanism, and connections) of BRBs. In this paper, the results of some previous research over the past few decades are presented to illustrate the beginning, development, types, design strategy, and recent applications of BRBs. With the rapid development of wearable electronic devices, medical simulation equipment, and electronic textile industries, their energy storage devices need to maintain stable chemical properties after undergoing multiple tensile deformations. Flexible supercapacitors have long cycle life and mechanical properties due to their own strong, green, low-cost, and many other excellent performances; it has been widely concerned by the society. So far, the research on flexible supercapacitors has achieved excellent results. This paper focuses on the preparation process of flexible supercapacitor electrode materials and the different properties and characteristics of various electrode materials and summarizes the structure of flexible supercapacitors. The component methods, and the applications that have attracted much attention, compare the advantages of different flexible supercapacitors that exist at this stage. Nanocellulose is the most abundant material extracted from plants, animals, and bacteria. Nanocellulose is a cellulosic material with nano-scale dimensions and exists in the form of cellulose nanocrystals (CNC), bacterial nanocellulose (BNC), and nano-fibrillated cellulose (NFC). Owing to its high surface area, non-toxic nature, good mechanical properties, low thermal expansion, and high biodegradability, it is obtaining high attraction in the fields of electronics, paper making, packaging, and filtration, as well as the biomedical industry. To obtain the full potential of nanocellulose, it is chemically modified to alter the surface, resulting in improved properties. This review covers the nanocellulose background, their extraction methods, and possible chemical treatments that can enhance the properties of nanocellulose and its composites, as well as their applications in various fields. The last decade has witnessed an excessive demand for mobile traffic. Though, fifth generation (5G) networks are in the initial phase of deployment and have wide capabilities and noble features to meet the data thrust up to some extent, it's time to think beyond 5G systems. It is being expected that next generation wireless system (6G) will entirely be automated and intelligent, and will be ubiquitous and ultra-high reliable towards connectivity to large number of devices. This paper aims towards discussing stringent requirements while focusing on key expected technologies that may shape the 6G networks. Various applications of 6G communications are then briefly outlined. At the end, paper also discusses the potential challenges for achieving the goal. It is often claimed that managers do not read serious research papers in journals. If true, this neglect would seem to pose a problem because journals are the dominant source of knowledge in management science. By examining results from the forecasting principles project, which was designed to summarize all useful knowledge in forecasting, we found that journals have provided 89 percent of the useful knowledge. However, journal papers relevant to practice are difficult to find because fewer than three percent of papers on forecasting contain useful findings. That turns out to be about one useful paper per month over the last half century. Once found, papers are difficult to interpret. Managers need low-cost, easily accessible sources that summarize advice (principles) from research; journals do not meet this need. To increase the rate of progress in developing and communicating principles, researchers, journal editors, textbook writers, software developers, Web-site designers, and practitioners should make some changes. We offer some examples: Researchers should directly study forecasting principles. Journal editors should actively solicit papers; invited submissions were about 20 times better than standard submissions at producing useful findings that were often cited, and they do so at lower cost. Textbook writers should focus on principles so that readers can apply knowledge. Web-site and software developers should provide practitioners with low-cost ways to use principles. Aluminum matrix composites are key materials used in the preparation of lightweight structural parts. It has the advantages of low density, high specific strength, and high specific stiffness. Additionally, its friction and wear properties are important factors that determine the material's suitability for use in a batch. Therefore, this paper systematically analyzes the current research on the friction and wear behavior of particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites. It also discusses the effects of various internal factors, such as the microstructure characteristics of the matrix materials and the state of the reinforced particles, as well as external factors like wear pattern, applied load, sliding speed, thermal treatment, and temperature on the friction and wear properties of these composites. The applications of particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites in the fields of transportation, aerospace, and electronics are summarized. In addition, this paper discusses the current research status and future development trends regarding the wear behavior of particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites. Finally, this study aims to provide technical references for researching the friction and wear properties of particle-reinforced aluminum matrix composites. This paper introduces a new type of polynomials generated through the convolution of generalized multivariable Hermite polynomials and Appell polynomials. The paper explores several properties of these polynomials, including recurrence relations, explicit formulas using shift operators, and differential equations. Further, integrodifferential and partial differential equations for these polynomials are also derived. Additionally, the study showcases the practical applications of these findings by applying them to well-known polynomials, such as generalized multivariable Hermite-based Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. Biochar has excellent physical and chemical properties such as porosity, high carbon content, high cation exchange capacity, and rich surface functional groups and has been widely used in environmental remediation. Over the past 20 years, although various reviews have described the application of biochar as an environmentally friendly multifunctional material in environmental remediation, no comprehensive summary and analysis of the research trends in this field exists. To promote the rapid and stable development of the field of biochar, the current state of research on biochar is clarified using the bibliometric method in this report, and potential development directions and challenges for the future are identified. All relevant biochar literature from 2003–2023 was collected from the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and Web of Science Core Collection. A total of 6,119 published Chinese papers and 25,174 English papers were selected for the quantitative analysis. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Scimago graphics software was used to summarize the numbers of papers published over the years, as well as the countries, institutions, and authors that published the most articles. Secondly, using keyword co-occurrence and emergence analysis, the recognized research hotspots in different areas such as adsorbents, soil remediation, catalytic oxidation, supercapacitors, and "biochar-microbial" synergy were analyzed. Finally, the prospects and challenges of biochar were assessed to provide new perspectives for further promoting its development in technological, economic, environmental, and other aspects. This study delves into the influence of digital platforms, including mobile applications and online services, on how Polish residents plan and organise their holidays. Specifically, the research identifies which applications are most favored and examines the reasons for their popularity. A comprehensive survey was used as the primary research tool, the design and implementation of which is detailed in the following sections of the paper. This analysis explores key concepts such as ‘e-tourism’ and offers visual representations of the findings, highlighting current preferences and trends in relation to digital tools in the tourism sector. Finally, the paper attempts to define and understand the importance of information technologies in the modern development of the e-tourism sector. By integrating the findings of the survey and previous studies, the work aims to present a holistic perspective on the factors influencing the contemporary tourism landscape in Poland. Food plays an important role in our lives that goes beyond mere sustenance. Food affects behavior, mood, and social life. It has recently become an important focus of multimedia and social media applications. The rapid increase of available image data and the fast evolution of artificial intelligence, paired with a raised awareness of people's nutritional habits, have recently led to an emerging field attracting significant attention, called food computing, aimed at performing automatic food analysis. Food computing benefits from technologies based on modern machine learning techniques, including deep learning, deep convolutional neural networks, and transfer learning. These technologies are broadly used to address emerging problems and challenges in food-related topics, such as food recognition, classification, detection, estimation of calories and food quality, dietary assessment, food recommendation, etc. However, the specific characteristics of food image data, like visual heterogeneity, make the food classification task particularly challenging. To give an overview of the state of the art in the field, we surveyed the most recent machine learning and deep learning technologies used for food classification with a particular focus on data aspects. We collected and reviewed more than 100 papers related to the usage of machine learning and deep learning for food computing tasks. We analyze their performance on publicly available state-of-art food data sets and their potential for usage in multimedia food-related applications for various needs (communication, leisure, tourism, blogging, reverse engineering, etc.). In this paper, we perform an extensive review and categorization of available data sets: to this end, we developed and released an open web resource in which the most recent existing food data sets are collected and mapped to the corresponding geographical regions. Although artificial intelligence methods can be considered mature enough to be used in basic food classification tasks, our analysis of the state-of-the-art reveals that challenges related to the application of this technology need to be addressed. These challenges include, among others: poor representation of regional gastronomy, incorporation of adaptive learning schemes, and reverse engineering for automatic food creation and replication. This paper reviews several theoretical works on the computation of the Rate of Occurrence of Failure (ROCOF) for general multi-state random systems, focusing on recent generalizations. The discussion begins by defining the ROCOF for a Markov process and discussing the main results achieved in the literature, then moves towards the richer framework represented by semi-Markov systems. The paper discusses complications that arise when extending the ROCOF to higher orders so that a measure of the association of failures in time can be obtained. The work then analyzes possible modifications in terms of a conditional version of the ROCOF, which is of special interest in applications. The findings are illustrated by a numerical example from reliability, and the broad applicability is demonstrated by a discussion of different applications in other domains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we continue presenting new types of soft operators for supra soft topological spaces (or SSTSs). Specifically, we investigate more interesting properties and relationships between the supra soft somewhere dense interior (or SS-sd-interior) operator, the SS-sd-closure operator, the SS-sd-cluster operator, and the SS-sd-boundary operator. We prove that the SS-sd-interior operator, SS-sd-boundary operator, and SS-sd-exterior operator form a partition for the absolute soft set. Furthermore, we apply the notion of SS-sd-sets to soft continuity. In addition, we use the SS-sd-interior operator and the SS-sd-closure operator to provide equivalent conditions and many characterizations for SS-sd-continuous, SS-sd-irresolute, SS-sd-open, SS-sd-closed, and SS-sd-homeomorphism maps. Examples include the following: The soft mapping is an SS-sd-homeomorphism if, and only if it is both SS-sd-continuous and an SS-sd-closed if, and only if, the soft mapping in addition to its inverse is SS-sd-continuous. Moreover, a bijective soft mapping is SS-sd-open if, and only if, it is SS-sd-closed. Microbial-induced carbonate precipitation (MICP) technology has gained significant traction as an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and intelligent self-healing method for concrete cracks. The harsh service environment and high alkalinity of cement matrices have posed a significant challenge to the survival and growth of bacteria, which is crucial for the success of MICP technologies in concrete components. This article aims to present an up-to-date overview of the current research status of self-healing concrete cracks utilizing MICP technology. Specifically, it comprehensively reviews the selection of mineralization repair systems, encompassing repair mechanisms, effects, processes, nutrient addition sequences, and carrier selection. Furthermore, various characterization methods for evaluating the self-healing ability of concrete are explored, accompanied by an in-depth analysis of practical applications of self-healing concrete. In this paper, the research progress of surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) research in the nervous system in recent years is reviewed. Firstly, the current status of neurotransmitter testing is briefly introduced, and the advantages of SERS detection technology are proposed. Secondly, the development status of SERS technology for neurotransmitters is reviewed, such as monoamines and amino acids. Thirdly, the SERS used to detect neurological diseases are mainly introduced, and SERS based microdevices are further introduced. Purpose: Auxetic sandwich structures are gaining attention because of the negative Poisson's ratio effect offered by these structures. Re-entrant core was one configuration of the auxetic structures. There is a growing concern about the design and behavior of re-entrant cores in aerospace, marine and protection applications. Several researchers proposed various designs of re-entrant core sandwiches with various materials. The purpose of this study is to review the most recent advances in re-entrant core sandwich structures. This review serves as a guide for researchers conducting further research in this wide field of study. Design/methodology/approach: The re-entrant core sandwich structures were reviewed in terms of their design improvements, impact and quasi-static crushing responses. Several design improvements were reviewed including 2D cell, 3D cell, gradient, hierarchical and hybrid configurations. Some common applications of the re-entrant core sandwiches were given at the end of this paper with suggestions for future developments in this field. Findings: Generally, the re-entrant configuration showed improved energy absorption and impact response among auxetic structures. The main manufacturing method for re-entrant core manufacturing was additive manufacturing. The negative Poisson's ratio effect of the re-entrant core provided a wide area of research. Originality/value: Generally, re-entrant cores were mentioned in the review articles as part of other auxetic structures. In this paper, the Advaya Bot - Radiologist assistant robot development & its usage in healthcare applications is presented. The final year project under-taken by us consists of the designing & developing of a bot that can assist healthcare professionals, specifically in the Department of Radiology. It is a growing concern among the community of radiologists that radiation exposure, even under protocol scenarios, is causing harm to them in the form of cancers, tumors, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, etc. Also, in departments like that of Ultra Sonography imaging, the manual use of a transducer is something not looked forward to by the patients. We aim to build a bot that can reduce radiation exposure, workload, and uncomfortable interactions for the doctors in the department of radiology imaging. The use of such bots is strictly domain specific. For the purpose of our final project, we have chosen the domain to be that of Ultrasonography (USG). We aim at eliminating the manual use of the transducer and replacing it with a bot. The bot shall be capable of greeting the patient and adjusting the location of the end-effector with the help of a radiologist or specialist from a distance. The end edge of the bot will also be capable of placing the transducer with the required pressure on the required area of the patient’s body. In developing countries like India, the ratio of doctors to the number of patients is very low. We aim to unburden healthcare professionals and free them from harmful working conditions. The recent global pandemic has resulted in growth in themedical and healthcare sectors. Applications used in these domains have become more advanced and digitally integrated. Sensor-based Internet of Things (IoT) devices are increasing in healthcare andmedical units. The emerging trend with the use of IoT devices in medical healthcare is termed as Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). The instruments used in these healthcare units comprise various sensors that can record patient body observations. These recorded observations are streamed across Internetbased channels to be stored and analyzed in centralized servers. Patient diagnostics are performed based on the information retrieved from these devices. Machine learning and artificial intelligence play a significant role in diagnostic mechanisms and identifying diseases across observation sets. The data collected by these observation sets are analyzed closely with the help of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). This distributed system of devices and servers raises privacy concerns. Blockchain is a technology that can preserve the privacy of the information collected from devices. A blockchain is a mechanism in which information goes across various network nodes. A centralized architecture where information flows from the sensor devices to a centralized server risks large-scale information leak. This paper proposes a prototype and a model for collecting information and protecting the data from intrusion. Any application that resides in the cloud and collects data from a sensor based IoT device can be prone to intrusion. The detection occurs at an early stage and in a fraction of the time. The model uses artificial neural networks and gets evaluated across various datasets. Improved accuracy and performance with data analyzed at the IoT-based devices prove the efficiency of the model proposed in this study. The standard binomial distribution is based on a sequence of Bernoulli trials. The probability of success is the same for each trial. In the Generalized Binomial Distribution (GBD), the probability of success changes by the history of successes up to that point. For example, if a student correctly answers a large proportion of the first few questions, the probability of correctly answering the next question increases because the history of successes may indicate skill. The Bernoulli events are correlated. Alternatively, the standard binomial distribution does not consider the history of successes, and assumes that successes are not correlated. In this paper we prove some new properties of the GBD and apply the concept to five new areas in sport competition, finance, biology, meteorology, and testing pseudo-random number generators. We prove that the GBD predicts the results in the collected data significantly better than the standard binomial distribution thus proving that the events are indeed correlated. We provide an R code, and a supplementary Excel file that provide users with an easy way to analyze any collected data set based on Bernoulli processes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Chiral carbon quantum dots (cCQDs) , as a new type of carbon nano-functional material with tunable emission wavelength, superior photostability, low toxicity, biocompatibility and chirality, are playing an increasingly important role in the fields of chemistry, biology and medicine. This paper reviews the preparation methods (one-step and two-step), optical properties (UV, fluorescence, chirality) and applications in chiral catalysis, chiral recognition, targeted imaging as well as other fields, while lists some of the issues and challenges in the research of chiral carbon quantum dots. This paper summarizes our work on studying educational applications enabled by the introduction of a new information layer called InfoInternet. This is an initiative to facilitate affordable access to internet-based information in communities with network scarcity or economic problems from the Global South. InfoInternet develops both networking solutions as well as business and social models, together with actors like mobile operators and government organizations. In this paper we identify and describe characteristics of educational applications, their specific users, and learning environment. We are interested in applications that make the adoption of Internet faster, cheaper, and wider in such communities. Aerogels are nanoporous materials which were initially prepared by Kistler in 1931. During the past 80 years, the investigation of aerogels accelerated rapidly in the 1980s and 2000s due to potential applications in many important fields and industrialization demands. In recent years, aerogels are attracting more and more people because of the unprecedented global pressure of the problems of energy and environment. As the materials with the lowest thermal conductivity, aerogels are ideal materials for thermal insulations which can save energy and help to reduce carbon emissions. As materials with high porosity and specific surface area, aerogels are ideal materials to adsorb toxic molecules or ions in the air and water, which can be applied in environmental protection. Carbon aerogels, with a good electric conductivity, are also good electrode materials for supercapacitors. In this paper, recent progress in aerogel preparation and applications in China are reviewed. Highlights: This paper is the first to introduce Chinese aerogel industry, which is helpful for countries around the world to better understand Chinese aerogel and strengthen in-depth cooperation. This article not only introduces the academic research progress of aerogels in China, but also shows the practical industrial applications of Chinese aerogels. This review points out the problems and challenges in the large-scale production and application of aerogel-based materials, and clarifies the direction for the international aerogel industry to become bigger and stronger. The fabrication of composite materials is an effective way to improve the performance of a single material and expand its application range. In recent years, graphene-based materials/polymer composite aerogels have become a hot research field for preparing high-performance composites due to their special synergistic effects in mechanical and functional properties. In this paper, the preparation methods, structures, interactions, properties, and applications of graphene-based materials/polymer composite aerogels are discussed, and their development trend is projected. This paper aims to arouse extensive research interests in multidisciplinary fields and provide guidance for the rational design of advanced aerogel materials, which could then encourage efforts to use these new kinds of advanced materials in basic research and commercial applications. Electrochemical supercapacitors are a promising type of energy storage device with broad application prospects. Developing an accurate model to reflect their actual working characteristics is of great research significance for rational utilization, performance optimization, and system simulation of supercapacitors. This paper presents the fundamental working principle and applications of supercapacitors, analyzes their aging mechanism, summarizes existing supercapacitor models, and evaluates the characteristics and application scope of each model.
