In this paper we introduce an efficient and new numerical algorithm for evaluating a pseudo differential operator. The proposed algorithm is time saving and fruitful. The theoretical as well as numerical error estimation of the algorithm is established, together with its stability analysis. We have provided numerical illustrations and established that the numerical findings echo the analytical findings. The proposed technique has a convergence rate of order three. In this paper, a numerical scheme based on hybrid Chelyshkov functions (HCFs) is presented to solve a class of fractional optimal control problems (FOCPs). To this end, by using the orthogonal Chelyshkov polynomials, the HCFs are constructed and a general formulation for their operational matrix of the fractional integration, in the Riemann–Liouville sense, is derived. This operational matrix together with HCFs are used to reduce the FOCP to a system of algebraic equations, which can be solved by any standard iterative algorithm. Moreover, the application of presented method to the problems with a nonanalytic dynamic system is investigated. In this paper, we investigate numerical solution of the variable-order fractional Galilei advection-diffusion equation with a nonlinear source term. The suggested method is based on the shifted Legendre collocation procedure and a matrix form representation of variable-order Caputo fractional derivative. The main advantage of the proposed method is investigating a global approximation for the spatial and temporal discretizations. This method reduces the problem to a system of algebraic equations, which is easier to solve. The validity and effectiveness of the method are illustrated by an easy-to-follow example. The main purpose of this paper is to provide an efficient numerical approach for the fractional differential equations (FDEs) on the half line with constant coefficients using a generalized Laguerre tau (GLT) method. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. We state and prove a new formula expressing explicitly the derivatives of generalized Laguerre polynomials of any degree and for any fractional order in terms of generalized Laguerre polynomials themselves. We develop also a direct solution technique for solving the linear multi-order FDEs with constant coefficients using a spectral tau method. By making use of the fractional hypergeometric operators, we establish certain new fractional integral inequalities for synchronous functions which are related to the weighted version of the Chebyshev functional. In this paper, we propose the shifted Jacobi-Gauss collocation spectral method for solving initial value problems of Bratu type, which is widely applicable in fuel ignition of the combustion theory and heat transfer. The spatial approximation is based on shifted Jacobi polynomials Jn(α,β)( x) with α, β ∈ (−1, ∞), x ∈ [0, 1] and n the polynomial degree. The shifted Jacobi-Gauss points are used as collocation nodes. Illustrative examples have been discussed to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed technique. We present a direct solution technique for approximating linear multiterm fractional differential equations (FDEs) on semiinfinite interval, using generalized Laguerre polynomials. We derive the operational matrix of Caputo fractional derivative of the generalized Laguerre polynomials which is applied together with generalized Laguerre tau approximation for implementing a spectral solution of linear multitermFDEs on semi-infinite interval subject to initial conditions. The generalized Laguerre pseudospectral approximation based on the generalized Laguerre operational matrix is investigated to reduce the nonlinear multiterm FDEs and its initial conditions to nonlinear algebraic system, thus greatly simplifying the problem. Through several numerical examples, we confirm the accuracy and performance of the proposed spectral algorithms. The shifted Jacobi-Gauss-Lobatto pseudospectral (SJGLP) method is applied to neutral functional-differential equations (NFDEs) with proportional delays. The proposed approximation is based on shifted Jacobi collocation approximation with the nodes of Gauss-Lobatto quadrature. The shifted Legendre-Gauss-Lobatto Pseudo-spectral and Chebyshev-Gauss-Lobatto Pseudo-spectral methods can be obtained as special cases of the underlying method. Moreover, the SJGLP method is extended to numerically approximate the nonlinear high-order NFDE with proportional delay. Some examples are displayed for implicit and explicit forms of NFDEs to demonstrate the computation accuracy of the proposed method. A modification of the variational iteration method (VIM) for solving systems of nonlinear fractional-order differential equations is proposed. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. The solutions of fractional differential equations (FDE) obtained using the traditional variational iteration method give good approximations in the neighborhood of the initial position. The main advantage of the present method is that it can accelerate the convergence of the iterative approximate solutions relative to the approximate solutions obtained using the traditional variational iteration method. Abstract: In this paper, a new formula of Caputo fractional-order derivatives of shifted Jacobi polynomials of any degree in terms of shifted Jacobi polynomials themselves is proved. We discuss a direct solution technique for linear multi-order fractional differential equations (FDEs) subject to nonhomogeneous initial conditions using a shifted Jacobi tau approximation. A quadrature shifted Jacobi tau (Q-SJT) approximation is introduced for the solution of linear multi-order FDEs with variable coefficients. We also propose a shifted Jacobi collocation technique for solving nonlinear multi-order fractional initial value problems. The advantages of using the proposed techniques are discussed and we compare them with other existing methods. We investigate some illustrative examples of FDEs including linear and nonlinear terms. In this manuscript, a type of Fokker–Planck equation (FPE) with Caputo–Fabrizio fractional derivative is considered. We present a numerical approach which is based on the Ritz method with known basis functions to transform this equation into an optimization problem. It leads to a nonlinear algebraic system. Then, we obtain the coefficients of basis functions by solving the algebraic system. The convergence of this technique is discussed extensively. The current study aims to approximate the solution of fractional differential equations (FDEs) by using the fundamental properties of artificial neural networks (ANNs) for function approximation. In the first step, we derive an approximate solution of fractional differential equation (FDE) by using ANNs. In the second step, an optimization approach is exploited to adjust the weights of ANNs such that the approximated solution satisfies the FDE. Different types of FDEs including linear and nonlinear terms are solved to illustrate the ability of the method. In addition, the present scheme is compared with the analytical solution and a number of existing numerical techniques to show the efficiency of ANNs with high accuracy, fast convergence and low use of memory for solving the FDEs.
