This article is interested in the expressions of art linked to the disease. Although historically these representations have shown closeness to ugliness or the unpleasantness of the pathological, in pandemic times, other symbolisms have been produced. In the case of the surgical mask, it has been used not only as a metaphor to show its closeness to the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2, but also to express individualistic ideas of how to handle the pandemic and a more personal management of the health crisis. Special importance has been given to the exhibitions of “Masks x artists”, organized by the Jade Museum in Costa Rica, and “Mask of art. My only protection” from Puerto Rico. Likewise, other types of artistic spaces that are interested in COVID-19, where this device has a prioritary position, were mentioned in this study. El presente artículo se interesa por las expresiones de arte ligadas a la enfermedad. Aunque históricamente dichas representaciones han mostrado cercanía hacia la fealdad o el desagrado de lo patológico, en tiempos de COVID-19 se producen otro tipo de simbolismos. En el caso de la mascarilla quirúrgica, es utilizada no solo como una metáfora para mostrar su contacto directo con la pandemia producida por el SARS-CoV-2, sino también para expresar ideas individualistas del manejo de la pandemia y una gestión más personal de la crisis sanitaria. Para hacer el análisis, se dio especial importancia a las exposiciones de “Mascarillas x artistas”, organizada por el Museo de Jade en Costa Rica, y “Mascarilla del arte. Mi única protección” de Puerto Rico. Asimismo, se mencionaron otros espacios artísticos que se interesan por el COVID-19 y en el cual este dispositivo tiene un lugar prioritario.

Paper-based works of art and documents of cultural importance kept in museums and libraries can show notorious signs of deterioration, including foxing stains, caused by fungal colonization. Some of the main chromophore agents of fungal origin that deteriorate paper and therefore affect paper cultural heritage both aesthetically and structurally are the group of pigments called melanins. Thus, knowledge of the diversity and features of fungal melanins and of the melanization pathways of fungi growing on paper is key to removing these pigments from paper-based works of cultural importance. This review provides an approach about the current knowledge of melanins synthesized by paper-colonizing fungi, their localization in the fungal structures, and their role in the deterioration of paper. This knowledge might contribute to developing new, effective, and sustainable strategies of restoration and conservation of historical documents and works of art based on paper.

The main ingredient of paper production is cellulose fibers. Usually produced from wood fibers and annual plants. In this study it was investigated usability of waste rose pulps (Rosa Damascena Mill.) which have environmental risk in Isparta province as a source of cellulose for paper production. Oily rose flower grows only in Isparta and its vicinity and around 7000 tons of rose flowers are grown annually. After oil extraction, rose flowers lose their economic value and are left to rot as garbage. Rose pulp which is an herbal waste therefore contains cellulose. At the Scope of study, cellulose content of rose pulp was determined and paper pulp was obtained by applying soda-NaBH4 and chlorite methods. The obtained paper pulp was mixed with waste paper in different ratio and paper production was provided. Thus, rose wastes which evaluating as rubbish, was recycled and go into the production cycle., Kağıt üretiminin ana maddesi selüloz liflerdir. Genellikle ağaç lifleri ve yıllık bitkilerden üretilir. Bu çalışmada Isparta ilinde çevresel risk taşıyan atık gül posaları (Rosa Damascena Mill.) kağıt üretimi için selüloz kaynağı olarak kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Yağlık gül çiçeği sadece Isparta ve çevresinde yetişmekte olup yıllık yaklaşık 7000 ton civarında gül çiçeği yetiştirilmektedir. Yağı alındıktan sonra gül çiçekleri ekonomik değerini yitirmekte ve çöp olarak çürümeye terk edilmektedir. Bitkisel bir atık olan gül posaları dolayısıyla selüloz içermektedir. Çalışma kapsamında. gül posasının selüloz içeriği belirlenmiş ve soda-sodyum borhidrür ve klorit yöntemleri uygulanarak kağıt hamuru elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen kağıt hamurları farklı oranda atık kağıtlar ile karıştırılarak kağıt üretimi sağlanmıştır. Böylece çöp niteliğindeki gül posaları geri dönüştürülerek üretim döngüsü içine katılmıştır.

A small box, hitherto described as white lacquerware, currently displayed at the Chinese Pavilion, Drottningholm, Sweden, is an unusual example of artefacts imported from the Far East during the era of the East India Companies. By using microscopy for cross- and thin sections, X-ray fluorescence microscopy, attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, some of the specific characteristics of the box are described, and it was possible to differentiate original from more recent restoration material. Among other findings, the results suggest that white glue tempera is a better description, based on indications of calcium carbonate and protein, and support an earlier attribution of the box to an Edo period doll maker in Kyoto.

The archive of the Universidad de Costa Rica maintains a nineteenth-century French collection of drawings and lithographs in which the biodeterioration by fungi is rampant. Because of nutritional conditions in which these fungi grew, we suspected that they possessed an ability to degrade cellulose. In this work our goal was to isolate and identify the fungal species responsible for the biodegradation of a nineteenth-century art collection and determine their cellulolytic activity. Fungi were isolated using potato-dextrose-agar (PDA) and water-agar with carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). The identification of the fungi was assessed through DNA sequencing (nrDNA ITS and α-actin regions) complemented with morphological analyses. Assays for cellulolytic activity were conducted with Gram’s iodine as dye. Nineteen isolates were obtained, of which seventeen were identified through DNA sequencing to species level, belonging mainly to genera Arthrinium, Aspergillus, Chaetomium, Cladosporium, Colletotrichum, Penicillium and Trichoderma. For two samples that could not be identified through their ITS and α-actin sequences, a morphological analysis was conducted; they were identified as new species, named Periconia epilithographicola sp. nov. and Coniochaeta cipronana sp. nov. Qualitative tests showed that the fungal collection presents important cellulolytic activity.

The paper deals with the use of a flat medium for the creation of spatial modular structures. In the presented case history, structure made during Cartasia, The International Festival of Paper, Biennale of Contemporary Art, Lucca, Italy. I present the possibilities of use of carton industry products in an art project. Príspevok pojednáva o použití plošného média pre vytváranie priestorových modulárnych štruktúr. Na prezentovanej kazuistike, štruktúre realizovanej počas medzinárodného bienále papierového umenia Cartasia v talianskom meste Lucca, ukazujem možnosti využitia produktov kartonárskeho priemyslu v umeleckom projekte.

The subject of this present work is a group of nine historical pictures shot in Palermo by the Sicilian photographer E. Interguglielmi in 1912. They are nine matte-collodion prints mounted on the original cardboard supports and all of them show foxing stains affecting the paper surface. In order to characterise the chemical composition of the supports and investigate foxing spots, non-destructive and micro-destructive analysis were carried out. X-rays fluorescence (XRF) analysis was used to characterise the elemental composition of all the mounting boards, allowing a comparison between the foxing spots and non-affected areas. Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy was used to investigate the presence of lower atomic number elements, not detectable by XRF, while SEM imaging allowed the investigation of surface appearance and nature of original paper samples from the cardboards.

Kağıt, keşfedildiği tarihten itibaren Görsel Sanatların taşıyıcı yüzeyi olarak kullanılmıştır. 20. yüzyılın başından bu yana kağıdın sanatta kullanımı sahip olduğu bu işlevin ötesine geçerek özgün yaratım malzemesi olma niteliğiyle sürmektedir. Çağımızda kağıdın, Görsel Sanatlar eğitiminde geleneksel kullanımının yerine inovatif tekniklerle, farklı yaratım süreçleri ve yeni bakış açısıyla değerlendirilmesi gerekmektedir. Görsel Sanatlar eğitiminde iki ve üç boyutlu çalışmaların uygulanmasında zengin yaratım olanağı sunan kağıt, eğitsel değeri yüksek bir malzemedir. Kağıt malzeme olarak kolay elde edilebilirliği, ucuzluğu, pratikliği, çok yönlü kullanımı ve geri dönüştürülmesi gibi bir çok kullanım avantajına sahiptir. Geri dönüşüm yöntemi ile atık kağıtlardan elde edilen kağıt hamuru, üç boyutlu çalışmalar; maske, rölyef, heykel, obje, vb. sanatsal uygulamalar gerçekleştirmeyi, deneysel çalışmalar yapmayı olanaklı kılar. Geri dönüşüm, kağıdın üretim ve tüketim süreçlerinin içerisinde yer alan ve çevre için önem taşıyan bir unsurdur. Kağıdın geri dönüşümü sürdürülebilir kağıt üretimini mümkün kılmakta ve çevreye olan zararları azaltmaktadır. Kağıdın günümüzde sanat, tasarım ve inovasyon malzemesi olma bilinciyle Görsel Sanatlar eğitiminde kullanımı, öğrencilere kağıdın kullanım olanakları hakkında geniş bakış açısı kazandırması açısından önem taşımaktadır. Öğrencileri kağıdın geri dönüşümü ve geri kazanım olanakları hakkında bilgilendirmek, Görsel Sanatlar dersinde malzeme-madde-çevre ilişkisini kurmaları ve bilinç kazanmaları yönünde katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu araştırmada, disiplinlerarası anlayışla yapılandırılan geri dönüşümlü kağıt hamurunun yaratım malzemesi olarak kullanıldığı etkinliklerden oluşan Görsel Sanatlar ders planıyla, öğrencilere çevre eğitimi vermenin çözüm yolları aranmıştır.Araştırmanın amacı, Ortaokul 6. sınıf Görsel Sanatlar dersinde geri dönüşümlü kağıt hamurunun uygulama malzemesi olarak kullanım yönteminin, öğrencilerin çevre bilinci kazanmalarına yönelik nasıl bir etkisi olabileceğini belirlemeye çalışmaktır. Bu temel amaç doğrultusunda aşağıdaki sorulara yanıt aranmıştır:1. Görsel Sanatlar eğitiminde geri dönüşümlü kağıt hamurunun yaratım malzemesi olarak kullanımına yönelik uygulamalarda yaşanan sorunlar ve çözüm önerileri nelerdir?Araştırmada uygulamalı nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan eylem araştırması deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulaması 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılı bahar döneminde, özel bir eğitim vakfına ait ortaokulda, 20.04.2016-15.06.2016 tarihleri arasında sekiz haftalık süreç içerisinde toplam 22 öğrenciden oluşan bir çalışma grubu ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda uygulanan eylem planında atık kağıtların geri kazanımıyla elde edilen kağıt hamuru kullanılarak iki ve üç boyutlu sanatsal çalışmalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. El yapımı yapraklı kağıt yapımının (2D) yanı sıra, papier-maché tekniği kullanılarak ağaçlarda yaşayan hayvan figürleri (3D) ve bu hayvanlar için su ve yemek kapları (3D) gerçekleştirilmiş, ardından tüm çalışmalar koli kartonlarından inşa edilen (3D) ağacın üzerinde, `Yaşayan Ağaç` teması çerçevesinde sergilenmiştir. Araştırmanın verileri ön ve son anket, görüş anketi, yarı yapılandırılmış odak grup görüşmeleri, öğrenci, öğretmen, araştırmacı günlüğü ve araştırmacı gözlemi olmak üzere farklı veri toplama araçlarıyla elde edilmiştir. Verilerden elde edilen frekanslar kodlara ve daha sonra kategorilere ayrılmış, bulguların yorumlanmasında içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular araştırma soruları çerçevesinde yorumlanmış, bulgulara dayalı olarak sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Sonuçlardan yola çıkılarak uygulamaya ve benzer araştırmalara yönelik öneriler geliştirilmiştir.Görsel Sanatlar dersi kapsamında kağıt hamuru ile yapılan iki ve üç boyutlu uygulama çalışmaları öğrencilerin kağıdın yaratım malzemesi olarak kullanım olanakları hakkındaki düşüncelerine olumlu yönde etkide bulunmuştur. Uygulama çalışmaları aracılığıyla öğrenciler kağıt yapımı, papier maché tekniği ve kağıt hamuruyla iki ve üç boyutlu sanatsal çalışmaların uygulanması konusunda deneyim ve bilgi kazanmışlardır. Görsel Sanatlar dersinde uygulama çalışmaları geri dönüşüm ve çevre koruma konularıyla birlikte işlenmiştir. Bunun olumlu sonuçları öğrenci görüşlerindeki bulgulara yansımış, öğrenciler dersleri eğlenceli, yaratıcı, bilgilendirici ve çevreye yararlı olarak nitelendirmişlerdir. Kağıdın günlük yaşamımızdaki değeri, kullanım alanları ve çevre koruma açısından geri dönüşümün önemi hakkında bilinç kazanımına katkı sağlayan araştırma, esnek yapıda biçimlendirilen etkinlik planı, çeşitli ders materyalleri ve oyunlarla zenginleştirilerek öğrencilerin ilgi ve beğenisini kazanmış, öğrenme sürecini etkin ve verimli kılmıştır. Uygulama etkinlikleri öğrenciler üzerinde geri dönüşüm bilincine ve alışkanlığına olumlu yönde katkıda bulunmakla birlikte, onları aşırı kağıt tüketiminin yol açtığı çevre sorunları üzerinde düşünmeye sevk etmiş, kendi çıkarımlarını yapabilecek düzeye taşımıştır. Uygulama sürecinde karşılaşılan sorunlar eylem planında yapılan değişiklikler aracılığıyla çözümlenmiştir. Araştırma, ekolojik bakış açısıyla yapılandırılan, merak ve ilgi çekici ortak bir tema üzerinde şekillenen yaratıcı çalışmalar aracılığıyla öğrencilere kağıdın yaratım zenginliği hakkında bilinç kazandırmanın yanı sıra çevre eğitimi de vermenin mümkün olduğunu göstermiştir. Since the day of its discovery, paper has been used as the supporting surface for Visual Arts. Starting from the early 20th Century, the paper's use in art has moved beyond this function, expanding to its use as original creative material. Today, instead of its traditional use, the paper should be evaluated in contemporary Visual Arts education with innovative techniques, various creative processes and new perspectives. Offering rich creative opportunities in the implementation of two and three dimensional works in Visual Arts education, the paper has a high educational value. Paper offers numerous advantages such as being easily accessible, cheap, practical, versatile and recyclable material. The paper pulp attained from paper waste through recycling enables three-dimensional work, masks, reliefs, statues, objects and other artistic practices as well as experimental works. Recycling is a part of paper production and consumption processes and is very important for the environment. Paper recycling allows sustainable paper production and minimizes harm to the environment. Its use in Visual Arts education as an art, design and innovation material is of significance for giving students a wide perspective on the methods of using paper. Informing students on the recycling and recovery options of paper will contribute in establishing the material-matter-environment relationship and raising awareness in Visual Arts classes. This study searches ways to provide environmental education to students using Visual Arts course plans structured with interdisciplinary approach, comprising activities where recycled pulp is used as a creative material. The purpose of the syllabus that was structured with an ecological point of view was trying to designate, if the use of recycled pulp as a implement material in Middle School, 6th Grade Visual Arts class, would have any sort of effects for the environmental consciousness of the students. The questions below were raised in the light of this primary purpose. 1.How can recycled pulp use as creation material in visual arts classes can integrate in to arts education?2.How did the application study effect on the paper making and the general knowledge gain of students on paper?3.How did the application study effect the students views on the variety of usage opportunities of paper?4.How did the application study effect the idea of the students on the importance of paper?5.How did the application study effect the understanding and also the habit acquisition of students about paper recycling?6.How did the application study effect the learning outcome of environmental knowledge of the students? 7.What are the opinions of the students about the Visual Arts Class where they used recycled pulp?8.What are the main problems and solution ideas about the use and execution of recycled pulp as creation material in Visual arts education?In this research, an `action research design` has been used, which is an applied method of qualitative research. The study was implemented during the 2015-2016 scholar period, spring semester, in a secondary school owned by a private educational foundation with a total of 22 students in the course of 8 weeks from 20.04.2016 to 15.06.2016. As part of the action plan implemented in line with the researcher's objective, two and three dimensional artistic works were created using recycled pulp. In addition to the production of hand crafted paper leaves (2D), papier-maché technique was used to create figures of animal living on trees (3D) and water and food cups for these animals (3D), then the works were displayed on a tree made of package card boards (3D) with the theme `Living Tree`. The research data was attained using various data collection tools, namely pre and post survey, opinion survey, semi-structured focus group interviews, student, teacher and researcher diarys and researcher's observations. The frequencies attained from the data were divided into codes and then into categories and content analysis was used to interpret the findings. The resulting findings were interpreted within the framework of the study questions to obtain the results based on findings. Based on the results, suggestions have been proposed for application and similar studies.The two and three-dimensional applications made using paper pulp as part of the Visual Arts class contributed positively to the student' opinions on the possible uses of paper as a creative material. Through application work, students have gained experience and knowledge on paper-making, papier maché technique and two and three dimensional artistic work using paper pulp. As part of the Visual Arts course, the application works have been practiced along with recycling and environmental protection topics. The positive results of this practice were reflected on the findings of student' opinions, defined as entertaining, creative, informative and environmentally beneficial course. Raising awareness on the value of paper in daily life, its uses and the importance of recycling for environmental protection, the study attracted interest of the students with flexible activity plan enriched with various course materials and games, rendering the learning process active and efficient. The practices had positive contributions to the students' awareness and habits of recycling, while leading them to contemplate on the environmental issues caused by paper consumption, bringing students to a level to achieve inference. The issues faced during the course of the practices were solved through changes in the action plan. The study has shown that creative studies structured with an ecological perspective, shaped by the common theme of curiosity and interest, raise awareness of students on the creative richness of paper while providing environmental education. 332

Recent research on Émile Zola’s involvement with the French press of the late Second Empire and early Third Republic has clarified the shape of this history of his engagement with journalism, including a supposed absence from the fray between 1881 and 1895. This article, however, identifies in the period 1888 to 1892 , between the idealism of $\textit{Le Rêve}$ and the reflexivity of $\textit{Le Docteur Pascal}$, a period of particular reflection on the press by Zola which illuminates ‘le retour du reel et de l’actualité’ in his novels: $\textit{La Bête humaine}$, $\textit{L’Argent}$ and $\textit{La Débâcle}$.

This study focuses on the album of Ahmed the First (B. 408) which was composed by Kalender Pasha (d. 1616) for the sultan (r. 1603-1617) himself as a collection of beautiful calligraphy, paper filigree and paintings with several topics and which is being kept today at the Library of Topkapı Palace Museum. In this study another two albums (H. 2171, B.409) and Falnamah (H. 1703) in the collections of the Library of Topkapı Palace Museum, which are also known to be of Kalender Pasha or being dedicated to him were also compared according to technical point of view. Kalender Pasha organized all of these albums in the same way while their content, purpose of preparation and preparation process differs. Albums with the collection numbers of H. 2248, H. 2165, H. 2156, H. 2153 and H. 2160 from the same Topkapı collection and some pages, which were supposed to be the part of H. 2171, of Bellini Album with the collection number of 67.266.7 from New York Metropolitan Museum were also investigated. While the albums having the collection numbers of F. 1423 and F. 1426 from Istanbul University Rare Books Library were also studied with respect to their technical structures, the bindings of Sultan I. Ahmed Collection and several muraqqas of Hamidiye and Muraqqa Collections from Süleymaniye Manuscript Library were also compared according to their preparation techniques. Albums prepared by placing the samples of calligtaphy, illuminations and paper filigrees, paintings and religious, historical or literary texts or poems either one by one or together on one page provides the preservation of these one page works. The prefaces of several albums indicate that these works were prepared for/by sultans, sons of sultans or important bureaucrats. Until today several works are present which mainly focuses on the prefaces and their contents; but there are only few works studies the preparation processes, i.e the codicological studies of those albums. Craftsmen who have different responsibilities work together for preparing the manuscripts in naḳḳās̲h̲-k̲h̲āna in the palace. But the album which is the object of this study is believed to be prepared from its binding through its illuminations by Kalender Pasha himself. The texts and prefaces which were placed at the beginning of the albums by Kalender Pasha both represent the craftsman and his work and give us some clues about the design process. By taking into account the techniques of the album of Ahmet the First, general technical details like these kinds of albums will be revealed. Documentation techniques of current conservation applications were used for the codicological study. Since it was not possible to take any samples from the item, the details of paper arts were determined only by observation. Ahmed (s. 1603-1617) için hazırladığı güzel yazı, kâğıt oyma ve çeşitli içeriklerde resimlerin derlemesi olan ve bugün Topkapı Sarayı Müzesi Kütüphanesi’nde (TSMK) bulunan I. Ahmed Albümü (B. 408) oluşturmaktadır. Kalender Paşa’nın yaptığı bilinen ya da Ona atfedilen ve TSMK koleksiyonlarında bulunan diğer iki albüm (H. 2171, B. 409) ve Fâlnâme’si (H. 1703) de teknik açıdan karşılaştırılmıştır. İçerikleri, hazırlanma süreç ve amaçları birbirinden farklı olan bu albümleri Kalender Paşa birbirine benzer bir düzende ve biçimde tasarlamıştır. Kalender Paşanın kendi albümleri dışında karşılaştırma için TSMK koleksiyonunda yer alan H. 2248, H. 2165, H. 2156, H. 2153, H. 2160 numaralı albümler ile New York Metropolitan Sanat Müzesi (MET) koleksiyonunda yer alan 67.266.7 numaralı Bellini Albümü’nün H2171’den çıktığı düşünülen sayfaları incelenmiştir. İstanbul Üniversitesi Nadir Eserler Kütüphanesi (İÜNK) F.1423 ve F. 1426 albümleri genel teknik yapıları bakımından, Süleymaniye Yazma Eser Kütüphanesi (SYEK) Sultan Ahmed I koleksiyonundaki ciltler ile yine SYEK Hamidiye ve Murakka koleksiyonlarında yer alan çeşitli murakkalar ise yapım tekniklerinin karşılaştırılması amacıyla incelenmiştir. Geçmişte ya da döneminde üretilen güzel yazı, tezhip ya da kâğıt oyma örneklerinin, resimlerin, dini, tarihi, edebi metin ya da şiirlerin tek ya da birlikte bir sayfa üzerine yerleştirilmesi ile hazırlanan albümler aynı zamanda bu tek sayfa halindeki çalışmaların korunmasını da sağlar. Kimi albümlerin başında yer alan önsözler, bunların sultanlar, şehzadeleri ya da önemli bürokratlar için / tarafından hazırlandığını anlatır. Bu güne kadar önsözlerinin ve içeriklerinin irdelendiği çalışmalar yapılmış olmakla birlikte, albümlerin hazırlanma süreçleri hakkında yapılmış kodikolojik (yazma eser bilimi) çalışma yok denecek kadar azdır. Saray nakkaşhanesinde farklı görev yapan sanatkârlar yazma eserlerin hazırlanması için birlikte çalışır. Ancak bu çalışmanın konusu olan Albümün cildinden tezhibine kadar tamamının Kalender Paşa tarafından yapıldığı düşünülmektedir. Kalender’in hazırladığı albümlerin başına yerleştirdiği metinler, önsözler, sanatçıyı ve ‘işini’ takdim etmesinin yanında bu tasarım süreci hakkında da ipuçları sunar. I. Ahmed Albümünün yapım tekniklerinden yola çıkılarak, bu tür albümlerinin hazırlanması sürecindeki teknik detaylar ortaya konulacaktır. Kodikolojik çalışma için konservasyon alanında bilinen belgeleme yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Analizler için herhangi bir örnek almak mümkün olmadığından kâğıt sanatlarının detayları yalnızca görsel inceleme ile ortaya konulmuştur.

During a conservation project of a luso-oriental altar ivory cross from the 17th century, 59 paper fragments were found on its four level step base, between some of the low relief ivory plates and its wooden sockets of the four level base, and behind some cabochons of the decoration. Some fragments present a watermark and hand writing. These elements, together with the observation of the stains, dimension of fragments and their perforations, lead us to formulate the hypothesis of their having occurred three mountings, in different time periods. The paper characteristics and the history of other materials used in those mountings permit to pinpoint time periods for their occurrence.

Research in restoration and conservation is directed vs. more sustainable working materials, methods and technologies. Electrophoretic removal, from porous material, of undesired stains due to charged species is theoretically an interesting alternative to chemical cleaning methods, but the lack of specific and comprehensive research work leads to controversial opinions about the efficiency and the needed harmfulness for the treated objects. In this work paper, samples with artificial rust stains were subjected to electrophoretic cleaning treatments in mineral water as electrolyte. Treatments were carried out either in a bath by complete sample immersion between the distanced electrodes or by sample wetting and sandwiching between the electrodes. Evaluation of cleaning efficiency and treatment effects was based on colour change measurements (image analysis of scanned paper samples before and after the treatment and by colorimetric data via spectrophotometric measurements), investigation of morphological changes by SEM observations and folding endurance measurements.
