Introduction: Ever evolving research in medical field has reached an exciting stage with advent of newer technologies. With the introduction of digital microscopy, pathology has transitioned to become more digitally oriented speciality. The potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in dermatopathology is to aid the diagnosis, and it requires dermatopathologists' guidance for efficient functioning of artificial intelligence., Method: Comprehensive literature search was performed using electronic online databases "PubMed" and "Google Scholar." Articles published in English language were considered for the review., Results: Convolutional neural network, a type of deep neural network, is considered as an ideal tool in image recognition, processing, classification, and segmentation. Implementation of AI in tumor pathology is involved in the diagnosis, grading, staging, and prognostic prediction as well as in identification of genetic or pathological features. In this review, we attempt to discuss the use of AI in dermatopathology, the attitude of patients and clinicians, its challenges, limitation, and potential opportunities in future implementation., (© 2022 The Authors. Machine learning and artificial neural networks are subsets of AI that refer to the incorporation of human intelligence into computers to think and behave like humans., Objective: The objective of this review article is to discuss perspectives on the AI in relation to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)., Methods: Google Scholar and PubMed databases were searched to retrieve articles related to COVID-19 and AI. The current evidence is analysed and perspectives on the usefulness of AI in COVID-19 is discussed., Results: The coronavirus pandemic has rendered the entire world immobile, crashing economies, industries, and health care. Telemedicine or tele-dermatology for dermatologists has become one of the most common solutions to tackle this crisis while adhering to social distancing for consultations. While it has not yet achieved its full potential, AI is being used to combat coronavirus disease on multiple fronts. AI has made its impact in predicting disease onset by issuing early warnings and alerts, monitoring, forecasting the spread of disease and supporting therapy. In addition, AI has helped us to build a model of a virtual protein structure and has played a role in teaching as well as social control., Conclusion: Full potential of AI is yet to be realized. Artificial intelligence (AI) has wide applications in healthcare, including dermatology. Machine learning (ML) is a subfield of AI involving statistical models and algorithms that can progressively learn from data to predict the characteristics of new samples and perform a desired task. Although it has a significant role in the detection of skin cancer, dermatology skill lags behind radiology in terms of AI acceptance. With continuous spread, use, and emerging technologies, AI is becoming more widely available even to the general population. AI can be of use for the early detection of skin cancer. For example, the use of deep convolutional neural networks can help to develop a system to evaluate images of the skin to diagnose skin cancer. Early detection is key for the effective treatment and better outcomes of skin cancer. Specialists can accurately diagnose the cancer, however, considering their limited numbers, there is a need to develop automated systems that can diagnose the disease efficiently to save lives and reduce health and financial burdens on the patients. ML can be of significant use in this regard. In this article, we discuss the fundamentals of ML and its potential in assisting the diagnosis of skin cancer.

Dermatology, being a predominantly visual‐based diagnostic field, has found itself to be at the epitome of artificial intelligence (AI)‐based advances. Machine learning (ML), a subset of AI, goes a step further by recognizing patterns from data and teaches machines to automatically learn tasks. Introduction: Diagnosis of dermatological disorders is primarily based on clinical examination in combination with histopathology. However, clinical findings alone may not be sufficient for accurate diagnosis and cutaneous biopsies are being associated with morbidity. Objective: The objective of this article is to review the newer technologies along with their applications, limitation and future prospectus. Methodology: Comprehensive literature search was performed using electronic online databases "PubMed" and "Google Scholar". Articles published in English language were considered for the review. Results: In order to improve and/or widen the armamentarium in dermatologic disease diagnosis and therapy, newer emerging technologies are being made available which aid in diagnosis and management. New emerging technologies include confocal microscopy, digital photographic imaging, optical coherence tomography, high frequency ultrasonography, and artificial intelligence. There have been advancements in the dermoscopes. Conclusion: Significant progress is seen in the diagnostic methods and imaging technologies in dermatology, each having its advantages and limitations. The novel coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) has limited traditional consultation and minimized health care access. Teledermatology (TD) has come to the rescue in this situation by extending consultation for nonessential conditions to the comfort of patient's homes. This limits the risk of exposure of both doctors and patients to the coronavirus (SARS‐CoV‐2). And while there is a reported increase in teleconsultations during the ongoing pandemic, there are some demerits that avert the shift to virtualized health care. The authors conducted an online survey to further understand the hesitancy, limitations, merits, and the demographic of dermatologists who were conducive to TD and these data were analyzed and presented in this article.
