At present, the problems of death and resuscitation of patients from general cooling at extremely low temperatures (below -40°C) have not been sufficiently studied in the world. To develop methods for restoring the body after general cooling at ultra-low temperatures, it is necessary to study lethal hypothermia at the molecular-cellular level using modern high-tech physical equipment. The aim of this study is to study the morphology of erythrocytes in those who died from fatal hypothermia at extremely low temperatures using atomic force and scanning electron microscopy. The subject of the study were blood smears of people who died from hypothermia and from a gunshot wound, using a high-resolution scanning electron microscope JSM-7800F "Japanes Electron Optics Laboratory" - "JEOL" (Japan) and an atomic force microscope Solver Next from the company "NT-MDT " (Russia). The erythrocytes of a person who died of hypothermia at an extremely low temperature below -40°C were characterized by minimal changes than those of a person who died of a gunshot wound, who had a large number of acanthocytes in the blood. The noticeable differences in the morphology of erythrocytes observed in experiments, depending on the cause of death, indicate the need for further study of the parameters of erythrocytes to identify the possibilities of cell recovery, their normal population and functional properties in dependence on the heating method of the frozen people under certain temperature conditions.
