In this work, we present some of the most basic aspects (related to emitted light) of spin-based qubits made with vertically self-assembled coupled quantum dots (SACQDs). Electron and hole wavefunctions within SACQDS have been calculated by using the strain dependent k · p theory. The investigated structure consists of identical ellipsoidal shaped QDs made with InAs/GaAs. By considering 100% spin-polarized states, the emitted light polarization along the direction of spin polarized states has been estimated. The carrier spin polarization, the external applied magnetic field, the interdot distance, the shape, and the symmetry of the quantum dot structure are crucial parameters for the light polarization.
