Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an autoimmune-mediated chronic progressive liver inflammatory disease with unknown pathogenesis. The main purpose of AIH treatment at present is to relieve symptoms, improve liver function and pathological abnormalities, and slow down the progression to liver fibrosis. Easy recurrence and a large difference in prognosis bring difficulties to the treatment of this disease. In recent years, AIH treatment methods mainly include standard immunosuppressive therapy, substitutive therapy or second-line therapy for ineffective standard therapy, traditional Chinese medicine treatment with reduced side effects, and liver transplantation rescue therapy for end-stage AIH or severe fulminant AIH.
