CHIEF executive officers - Abstract
The article discusses events that culminated in Bank of America chief executive Ken Lewis' decision to announce his resignation from that post. Lewis annoyed federal regulators when he threatened to back away from his firm's commitment to buy Merrill Lynch & Co. Large losses subsequently announced by Merrill prompted New York State attorney general Andrew Cuomo to question whether Lewis had adequately informed shareholders about the Merrill acquisition.
