Rising population levels exert significant pressure on available freshwater resources. Scientists and researchers from various countries are diligently seeking a long-lasting solution using solar-powered desalination. This research paper investigates the current advancements in solar desalination research by utilizing the method of "scientometrics". Scientometrics employs traditional methodologies, including bibliometrics, which entails quantifying the number of research papers published, and citation analysis, which involves examining the frequency with which other researchers cite these papers. By integrating these two approaches, scientometrics provides invaluable information about the most influential countries, institutions, and individual researchers in the field. Utilizing the software program VOSviewer, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on 1855 research papers published between 2010 and 2024. These papers were selected based on a predetermined set of ten key search terms. The results of the analysis indicate that China is the leading country in this field, as it boasts the highest number of published papers and the most citations received overall. Notably, Egyptian research institutions have been identified as the most influential in this area. Moreover, a single author has notably amassed 3419 citations for their 54 published works on solar desalination. This analysis unveiled past and contemporary advancements in the field and identified current trends through keyword analysis. It also offers recommendations based on bibliometric findings, including suggestions for addressing the challenges faced by solar-derived systems and addressing research area saturation. The superiority of BWM over other weighting methods for obtaining the weight values of the attributes is that it achieves high-confidence results with a reasonable number of pairwise comparisons. Although the best-worst method (BWM) is a well-known multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method that has been successfully utilized in almost all scientific areas to solve challenging real-life problems, no research has comprehensively examined the state-of-the-art in this regard. The present study depicts a detailed overview of publications concerned with BWM during the period 2015–2022. Based on the information obtained from the Scopus database, this work presents a big picture of current research on BWM. In other words, this paper analyzes the existing literature about BWM and identifies thematic contexts, application areas, emerging trends, and remaining research gaps to shed light on future research agendas aligning with those gaps. Further, the most recent BWM research is analyzed in the top ten scientific areas, from engineering to materials science. “Engineering”, “computer science”, and “business, management, and accounting” are the hottest fields of BWM research. China is the most active country regarding “engineering” and “computer science”, whereas India is the leader in “business, management, and accounting”. The study also reveals that there are still many research gaps in BWM research. Background: Bibliometric analysis is a mature method for quantitative evaluation of academic productivity. In view of the rapid development of research in the field of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in the past decade, we used bibliometric methods to comprehensively analyze the literature in the field of SLE from 2013 to 2022. Methods: The relevant literature in the field of SLE from 2013 to 2022 was screened in the Web of Science Core Collection database. After obtaining and sorting out the data, CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to visualize the relevant data, and SPSS software was used for scientific statistics. Results: A total of 18,450 publications were included in this study. The number of articles published over the past 10 years has generally shown an upward trend, while Altmetric attention scores have also shown a clear upward trend in general and in most countries. Citation analysis and Altmetric analysis can mutually prove and supplement the influence of papers. The USA, China, Japan, Italy, and the UK are the most productive countries, but China and Japan are significantly inferior to other countries in terms of research influence. Four of the top ten authors are at the center of the collaboration network. LUPUS is the most contributing journal. The theme of systemic lupus erythematosus research mainly focuses on the pathogenesis, treatment, and management of SLE, and the emerging trend is related research on machine learning and immune cells. Conclusion: This study shows the research status of SLE, clarifies the main contributors in this field, discusses and analyzes the research hotspots and trends in this field, and provides reference for further research in this field to promote the development of SLE research. Background: Increasing evidence has indicated that Helicobacter pylori infection is associated with the complex microbiota in the digestive tract of the human body. We aimed to assess the research trends and hotspots in the field of H. pylori and microbiota using a quantitative method. Materials and Methods: The clinical studies on H. pylori and microbiota published from 2001 to 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science database. We visualized and analyzed countries/regions, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords through VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. The test techniques, specimen type, as well as microbiota variation after H. pylori infection and eradication were also evaluated. Results: A total of 98 publications were finally identified, and the number of annual papers increased gradually. China showed its dominant position in the publication outputs, and Nanchang University was the most productive institution. Cong He, Xu Shu, and Yin Zhu published the highest number of papers, whereas Helicobacter was the most productive journal. "Helicobacter pylori" ranked highest in the keyword occurrences. 16S rRNA gene sequencing was the most frequently used method for microbiota analysis. Fecal samples had the highest frequency of use, followed by gastric mucosa and saliva. H. pylori infection was associated with the alterations of microbiota through the digestive tract, characterized by the enrichment of Helicobacter in the stomach. Triple and quadruple therapy were the most utilized eradication regimens, and probiotics supplementation therapy has been proven to reduce side effects and restore microbial diversity. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis provides an overview of advancements in the field of H. pylori and microbiota. While numerous studies have been conducted on the correlation between H. pylori and the alterations of microbiota, future research is warranted to investigate the mechanisms underlying the interplay between H. pylori and other microbes in the development of related diseases. Background: Chloroquine (CQ) is an antimalarial drug that was first synthesized by Hans Andersag, a German scientist, in 1934. Chloroquine has been widely researched and used over the years. The rapid development in the fields of modern science and technology has also contributed to the increase in interest in chloroquine. Hence, it is necessary to comprehensively summarize the research trends to understand the breakthroughs made in the field. Methods: The required data was compiled by analyzing the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. The search period for studying global research trends in chloroquine research was set from 2012 to 2021 to ensure a comprehensive analysis over an extended timeframe. Data retrieval was performed on April 4, 2022, focusing on articles and reviews published in English. The retrieval words were: (TS = (chloroquine)) OR (TS = (aralen)). A total of 1,091 reviews and 7,259 articles were retrieved and analyzed. The data obtained from WoSCC was captured and analyzed using VOS viewer (version 1.6.16) and Citesspace (version 5.8.R5). Results: The number of literature reports on chloroquine published in the past 10 years has shown an annual increase. Among the countries, the United States has contributed the highest number of papers and ranks first in terms of both H-index and citation count. The League of European Research Universities is one of the largest research-focused university networks, and Malaria Journal stands out as a prominent journal publishing articles relevant to the field of study. A paper authored by Gautret and Philippe in 2020 achieved the highest citation score globally. The biosynthesis of chloroquine, mechanisms of drug resistance, and drug combinations are receiving growing attention. Conclusion: The research area of chloroquine has been significantly influenced by the American and China. The progress of chloroquine research is further propelled by fruitful collaborations among various countries. Researchers have extensively studied the anti-malarial effect, drug resistance mechanism, and autophagy of chloroquine for the development of a treatment method for COVID-19 based on chloroquine. As a common chronic liver disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has attracted increasing attention in the past decade. Nevertheless, there are few bibliometric analyses that systematically study this field as a whole. This paper explores the latest research progress and future research trends of NAFLD through the method of bibliometric analysis. The articles related to NAFLD, published from 2012 to 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collections, were searched on February 21, 2022, using relevant keywords. Two different scientometrics software tools were used to conduct the knowledge maps of NAFLD research field. A total of 7975 articles on NAFLD research were included. From 2012 to 2021, the publications related to NAFLD increased by year. China ranked on the top of the list with 2043 publications, and the University of California System emerged as the premier institution in this field. PLOs One, Journal of Hepatology and Scientific Reports became the prolific journals in this research field. Co-cited reference analysis revealed the landmark literature in this research field. In terms of potential hotspots, the burst keywords analysis revealed that liver fibrosis stage, sarcopenia, and autophagy will become the focus of future NAFLD research. The annual output of the global publications in the field of NAFLD research showed a strong upward trend. Research in the field of NAFLD in China and America is more mature than in other countries. Classic literature lays the foundation for research, and multi-field studies provide the new development directions. Objective: The study aims to assess the current development status of transforaminal full-endoscopic spine surgery (TFES) by exploring and analyzing the published literature to obtain an overview of this field and discover the evolution and emerging topics that are underrepresented. Methods: Using Bibliometrix, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer, we analyzed the bibliometric data selected from the Web of Science Core Collection between January 2002 and November 2022. The descriptive and evaluative analyses of authors, institutes, countries, journals, keywords, and references are compiled. The quantity of research productivity was measured by the number of publications that were published. A quality indicator was thought to be the number of citations. In the bibliometric analysis of authors, areas, institutes, and references, we calculated and ranked the research impact by various metrics, such as the h-index and m-index. Results: A total of 628 articles were identified in the field of TFES by the 18.73% annual growth rate of research on the subject from 2002 to 2022, constituting the documents are by 1961 authors affiliated with 661 institutions in 42 countries or regions and published in 117 journals. The USA (n = 0.20) has the highest international collaboration rate, South Korea has the highest H-index value (h = 33), and China is ranked as the most productive country (n = 348). Brown univ., Tongji univ., and Wooridul Spine represented the most productive institutes ranked by the number of publications. Wooridul Spine Hospital demonstrated the highest quality of paper publication. The Pain Physician had the highest h-index (n = 18), and the most cited journal with the earliest publication year in the area of FEDS is Spine (t = 1855). Conclusion: The bibliometric study showed a growing trend of research on transforaminal full-endoscopic spine surgery over the past 20 years. It has shown a significant increase in the number of authors, institutions, and international collaborating countries. South Korea, the United States, and China dominate the related areas. Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have raised significant attention due to their rapid increase in power conversion efficiency (PCE) in less than 15 years. However, the metal-based counter electrode of the PSC device suffers from stability issues under ambient air conditions. In contrast, the carbon-based electrode perovskite solar cells (CBPSCs) have better stability in ambient air than the metal-based electrode. Based on the bibliometric analysis, this paper presents the research trends and future outlook of CBPSCs spanning from January 1, 2013, to August 31, 2023. The VOSviewer and Biblioshiny (Bibliometrix) software were used to visualize the analyzed dataset retrieved from the Scopus database. The bibliometric analysis includes the CBPSCs annual publication, source network, co-occurrence of all keywords analysis, author analysis, country analysis, research funding analysis, central area in CBPSCs, and progress in CBPSCs. The results show that China was leading in the overall analysis area, including the funding sponsor. The highest PCE-certified record in CBPSC to date was 21.9 %, which is almost comparable to the metal-based electrode (26.1 %). The research trends based on bibliometric analysis reveal that the future research focus will be on the carbon interface and charge transfer, which can be done by engineering the layer or incorporating dopants. Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) has attracted increasing research interest in sustainable management and decision-making in recent years. To further understand the research status and trend, the purpose of this study is to adopt bibliometric and visual methods to analyze the knowledge structure and the evolution path in the research field of ESG. Based on 1735 papers on ESG in the Web of Science Collection database from 2004 to 2021, this study uses CiteSpace and VOSviewer to present a bibliometric overview of publications, citation structure, authors, universities, countries/regions, journals, and keywords that work on this Topic. Results indicate that scholars increasingly regard ESG as an integrated sustainability analysis framework and pay more attention to the connection among its dimensions. According to the growth trend, ESG may remain a hot research topic for the next few years. The USA is the most productive country, followed by England and China. Journals on ESG research with higher effective factors have higher cocitation frequency and publications. And Sustainable development, corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, ESG, and ESG ratings as the research hotspots are presented. Additionally, this study provides an overview of the ESG research trends for future researchers. In the present era, the implementation of scientifically grounded Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) has emerged as a pivotal solution to diverse decision-making challenges across various domains. Although a substantial body of exploratory, conceptual, and experimental studies exists, only 9.457% studies have incorporated sensitivity analyses to assess the robustness of MCDM methods. An exhaustive scientific exploration of sensitivity analysis within the scope of MCDM is thus lacking. This research aims to address this gap through Bibliometric Analysis while examining 1374 articles published between January 2000 and March 2023 from the Scopus database. Using RStudio (Biblioshiny), CiteSpace, and VOSviewer software, the study constructs a visual representation of the most prolific countries, institutions, and authors. Impressively, China takes the lead in article publications, while India excels in international collaboration. "An extended TODIM multi-criteria group decision-making method for green supplier selection in an interval type-2 fuzzy environment," featured in the Journal of Environmental Management, emerges as the most cited paper with a total citation of 455. The study also identifies the top three most cited journals, namely "Journal of Cleaner Production," "Expert Systems With Applications," and "Computers and Industrial Engineering." "North China Electric Power University" is the leading institute with the highest research outputs. "Pamučar D" is the most cited author, with 2594 citations and 39 articles, followed by "Kahraman C" and "Zavadskas EK. With the continuous advancement of urbanisation, a large amount of construction and demolition waste (CDW) is generated in large-scale construction activities, which has aggravated the problems of environmental pollution, resource waste and ecological damage. The recycling of CDW can effectively solve such problems, and research on this topic has important practical significance. This paper selects 1090 articles on CDW recycling included in the core database of Web of Science from 2000 to 2021 as samples and uses two sorts of bibliometric analysis software, VOSviewer and CiteSpace, to obtain the annual publication volume, country, journal, author, institution, keywords and co-citation visualisation atlas, analysing the hotspots and development trends of CDW recycling research from the two dimensions of time and space. The analysis results show that in China, compared with developed countries, the research on CDW recycling and utilisation started late, and the phenomenon of focusing on construction and ignoring environmental protection is obvious. At present, the relevant research mainly focuses on three aspects: the performance of recycled aggregates, the management of CDW recycling and the strategy for improving CDW recycling. The bibliometric analysis results help scholars in this field to clarify quickly the development trend of CDW recycling, provide research directions for China's CDW recycling and point out research hotspots, aiming to improve China's CDW recycling rate and promote sustainable social development. Objective: Circular RNA (circRNA) is of significant interest in genetic research. The aim of this study was to assess global trends in circRNA research production in order to shed new light on future research frontiers. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, we conducted a literature search using the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database on March 21, 2019 to retrieve publications from 2007 to 2018. Excel 2013, CiteSpace V, and VOSviewer were used to evaluate bibliometric features that included publication output, countries/regions, institutions, journals, citation frequency, H-index, and research hotspots. Results: Global cumulative publication output on circRNA consisted of 998 papers with a total citation of 28595 during 2007-2018. China, the US, and Germany were the most prolific countries. China ranked first in H-index (60 times) and citations (13333 times). The most productive institution was Nanjing Medical University with 73 papers. Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications (impact factor [IF]2017:2.559) ranked first among journals in the number of publications (64 papers). The keywords shifted from "sequence", "intron", and "splice-site" to "transcriptome", "microRNA sponge", "exon circularization", and "circRNA biogenesis" overtime. The burst keywords "transcriptome", "microRNA sponge", "exon circularization", and "circRNA biogenesis" were the latest frontiers by 2018. Conclusion: This is a relatively novel bibliometric analysis to inspect research related to circRNA. The results show that publications have continuously increased in the past decade. China, the US, and Germany were the leading countries/regions in terms of quantity. Recent studies on topics related to circRNA biogenesis and function should be closely followed in this field. Cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin are the major bio-components in lignocellulosic biomass (BC-LB), which possess excellent biomechanical properties and biocompatibility to satisfy the demands of orthopedic applications. To understand the basis and trends in the development of major bio-components in BC-LB in orthopedics, the bibliometric technology was applied to get unique insights based on the published papers (741) in the Web of Science (WOS) database from January 1st, 2001, to February 14th, 2023. The analysis includes the annual distributions of publications, keywords co-linearity, research hotspots exploration, author collaboration networks, published journals, and clustering of co-cited literature. The results reveal a steady growth in publications focusing on the application of BC-LB in orthopedics, with China and the United States leading in research output. The "International Journal of Biological Macromolecules" was identified as the most cited journal for BC-LB research in orthopedics. The research hotspots encompassed bone tissue engineering, cartilage tissue engineering, and drug delivery systems, indicating the fundamental research and potential development in these areas. Research on artificial intelligence for brain injury is currently a prominent area of scientific research. A significant amount of related literature has been accumulated in this field. This study aims to identify hotspots and clarify research resources by conducting literature metrology visualization analysis, providing valuable ideas and references for related fields. The research object of this paper consists of 3000 articles cited in the core database of Web of Science from 1998 to 2023. These articles are visualized and analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. The bibliometric analysis reveals a continuous increase in the number of articles published on this topic, particularly since 2016, indicating significant growth. The United States stands out as the leading country in artificial intelligence for brain injury, followed by China, which tends to catch up. The core research institutions are primarily universities in developed countries, but there is a lack of cooperation and communication between research groups. With the development of computer technology, the research in this field has shown strong wave characteristics, experiencing the early stage of applied research based on expert systems, the middle stage of prediction research based on machine learning, and the current phase of diversified research focused on deep learning. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is defined as a clinical syndrome characterized by excessive fat accumulation in liver, predominantly influenced by dietary choices. This study provides an extensive quantitative literature analysis on dietary influences on NAFLD. Bibliometric data were collected through the search string TOPIC = ("NAFLD*" OR "nonalcoholic fatty liver*" OR "non-alcoholic fatty liver*") AND TOPIC = ("diet*" OR "nutrition*" OR "food*" OR "feed*"), which yielded 12,445 publications indexed within the Web of Science Core Collection. Utilizing VOSviewer software, term maps were generated to visually illustrate recurring phrases alongside citation data. The literature, which has seen exponential growth since the 2010s, predominantly consists of original articles, with a ratio of 4.7:1 compared to reviews. Notably, the significant contributors to this field were China and the United States. The majority of publications were found journals specialized in Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Nutrition & Dietetics, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Endocrinology & Metabolism, and Pharmacology & Pharmacy. Key dietary compounds/compounds classes such as resveratrol, polyphenols, curcumin, berberine, quercetin, flavonoids, omega-3 fatty acids, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), genistein, and palmitic acid were frequently mentioned and cited. Due to the massive use of antibiotics, antibiotics resistance genes (ARGs) are widely present in organic solid wastes (OSWs) such as livestock manure and sludge. As a common recycling technology, composting is often used to eliminate ARGs from OSWs. However, there is no bibliometric perspective on the fate of ARGs during OSWs composting to reveal the current state and future directions in this field. In this study, CiteSpace and VOSviewer were applied to count the available data from 2000 to 2021 in Web of Science to review the development and characteristics of relevant research. The results showed that the number of relevant papers and citations has increased consistently, with institutions and authors from China being the main contributors. The research belongs to the multidisciplinary with a focus on the environmental sciences ecology, and the results were mainly published in Bioresource Technology. Moreover, crucial literatures were screened to explore the framework within which the subject was constructed. Based on keyword analysis, the bacterial community was highlighted, and the research hotspots were revealed on the occurrence, affect factors including physicochemical properties, microbial community, MGEs, antibiotic, and heavy metal, and reduction strategies including exogenous additive, microbial inoculant, and improved process, as well as the spread of ARGs in soil. Proteolysis targeting chimera (PROTAC) technology, one of the targeted protein degradation technologies, has drawn marked attention from researchers of both academia and industry in recent years. After over two decades of development, the literature on it has proliferated. In order to better grasp the frontiers and hot spots of PROTAC, this bibliometric analysis was carried out. The articles and reviews regarding PROTAC were culled from the Web of Science Core Collection. General information and the trend of publication outputs, countries/regions, authors, journals, influential papers, and keywords in this field were visually analyzed using CtieSpace, VOSviewer, or Excel software. As a result, a total of 808 publications were included. The number of papers regarding PROTAC significantly increased yearly. These papers mainly come from 45 countries/regions led by the USA and China. 3886 authors were identified participating in these studies, among which Craig M. Crews had the most significant number and influential articles. Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry are the two journals with the most papers. After analysis, the most influential papers were identified in the area, including highly cited papers, references with citation burst, and high co-citated papers. The most common keywords including cancer, E3 ligase, drug discovery, epigenetic, resistance, and so on, represent the current and developing areas of study. BRDs, androgen receptor (AR), HDACs, estrogen receptor (ER), EGFR, CDKs, and KRAS are the most common targets. The study of household carbon emissions (HCEs) has become one of the most important topics in sustainability research due to the growing awareness of its significances in responding to global warming. This paper aims to identify the trends and characteristics of HCEs research for the period 1993–2019 through the bibliometric analysis approach. The impacts of most productive journals, countries, institutions and authors are evaluated by citation analysis, while the co-authorship network between various countries, institutions as well as the co-occurrence among different keywords are presented. The results of this paper provide a detailed picture on HCEs-related articles from 1993 to 2019. Both the number of publications on HCEs and the cooperation among countries and institutions have increased during the period. Keyword analysis suggests that the revelation of current status of HCEs and corresponding influencing factors are the main lines of HCEs research, and the prediction of HCEs should become the focus of future research.
