Abstract

Functions of crown annelated tetrathiafulvalenes (TTF) derivatives as metal cation sensors in organic media are described. The results demonstrate TTF as a suitable transducer unit for thin layer molecule devices for sensing applications.

Abstract

Synthesis, intramolecular charge transfer, and redox properties are discussed for 9-(1,2-dithiol-3-ylidene)-, 9-(1,3-dithiol-2-ylidene)-, and 9-(1,3-selenathio-2-2ylidene)fluorenes derivatives. Novel push-pull compounds of the D-pi-A type with intramolecular charge transfer have been characterized. The qualities of the heteroatom in the donor fragment do not affect the maxima of intramolecular absorption bands. Electronic absorption spectra in the ICT region and effect of donor moiety.

Abstract

The tetrathiafulvalene (TTFs)-thiolate anion derived from the reaction of monolithiated TTF with elemental sulfur could undergo various interactions to form a series of bis- and tris(tetrathiafulvalenes). Electrochemical analysis utilizing cyclic voltammetry determined the reactivity of the newly formed compounds in solution. Results showed that the TTF units did not extensively interact with the introduced reagents.
