Commented catalogue of Cassidinae species reported from the state of São Paulo, Brazil is given. Altogether, 343 species are presently registered from the state representing the following tribes: Alurnini (5 spp.), Cassidini (84 spp.), Chalepini (85 spp.), Dorynotini (9 spp.), Goniocheniini (8 spp.), Hemisphaerotini (2 spp.), Imatidiini (25 spp.), Ischyrosonychini (6 spp.), Mesomphaliini (83 spp.), Omocerini (14 spp.), Sceloenoplini (9 spp.), and Spilophorini (13 spp.). Fifty-two species are recorded for the first time and 19 are removed from the fauna of São Paulo. Each species is provided with a summary of published faunistic records for São Paulo and its general distribution. Dubious or insufficient records are critically commented. A list of Cassidinae species collected in São Paulo by Jaro Mráz (altogether 145 identified species) is included and supplemented with general information on this material. In addition, two new synonymies are established: Cephaloleia caeruleata Baly, 1875 = C. dilatata Uhmann, 1948, syn. nov.; Stolas lineaticollis (Boheman, 1850) = S. silaceipennis (Boheman, 1862), syn. nov.; and the publication year of the genus Heptatomispa Uhmann, 1940 is corrected to 1932. An annotated catalog of the type specimens of the subfamily Cassidinae Gyllenhal, 1813 sensu stricto (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) housed at the Zoological Museum of Hamburg (ZMH), Center of Natural History, Hamburg (CeNak) is provided. Information on 29 syntypes, previously unknown for the ZHM collection, is given, and new distributional records are reported for 38 Neotropical Cassidinae species, including nine new country records and 29 new province/state records.

Colour polymorphism offers rich opportunities for studying the eco-evolutionary mechanisms that drive the adaptations of local populations to heterogeneous and changing environments. We explored the colour morph diversity and composition in a Chrysomela lapponica leaf beetle across its entire distribution range to test the hypothesis that environmental and climatic variables shape spatio-temporal variation in the phenotypic structure of a polymorphic species. We obtained information on 13 617 specimens of this beetle from museums, private collections and websites. These specimens (collected from 1830-2020) originated from 959 localities spanning 33 degrees latitude, 178 degrees longitude and 4200 m altitude. We classified the beetles into five colour morphs and searched for environmental factors that could explain the variation in the level of polymorphism (quantified by the Shannon diversity index) and in the relative frequencies of individual colour morphs. The highest level of polymorphism was found at high latitudes and altitudes. The colour morphs differed in their climatic requirements; their composition was independent of the geographic distance that separated populations but changed with collection year, longitude, mean July temperature and between-year temperature fluctuations. The proportion of melanic beetles, in line with the thermal melanism hypothesis, increased with increasing latitude and altitude and decreased with increasing climate seasonality; it also declined during the past century, but only at high latitudes and altitudes where recent climate warming was especially strong. The observed patterns suggest that colour polymorphism is especially advantageous for populations inhabiting unpredictable environments, presumably due to the different climatic requirements of coexisting colour morphs. Subgeneric classification of Chrysodema Laporte de Castelnau & Gory, 1835 is revised and following synonymy is established: Chrysodema=Cyalithoides Fisher, 1922 syn. nov.; Pseudochrysodema Saunders, 1874=Leganya Hołyński, 1994 syn. nov.,=Marcsikiella Hołyński, 2014 syn. nov. Four subgenera are recognized as valid: Chrysodema s. str., Gelaeus Waterhouse, 1905, Pseudochrysodema Saunders, 1874, and Thymedes Waterhouse, 1905, and a key to the subgenera is given. Four species-groups are established in the subgenus Chrysodema s. str.: C. aeneoviolacea-group, C. aurostriata-group, C. eximia-group, and C. sonnerati-group. All known species, except the currently accepted synonyms of Chrysodema (Chrysodema) eximia Laporte de Castelnau & Gory, 1835, included in these groups are revised based on comparative study of extensive material including types of all described taxa. Three new species and one subspecies are described: Chrysodema (Chrysodema) dany sp. nov. from Haruku Island, Indonesia; C. (C.) gottwaldi sp. nov. from Palawan Island, Philippines; C. (C.) lewisii nakatai subsp. nov. from Yaeyama Islands, Japan; and C. (C.) vrabeci sp. nov. from Thailand and Laos. Chrysodema (C.) aeneoviolacea Deyrolle, 1864 stat. rev., C. (C.) dohrnii Saunders, 1874 stat. rev., and C. (C.) fuscitarsis Kerremans, 1895 stat. rev. are removed from synonymy with C. (C.) mniszechii Deyrolle, 1864; C. (C.) tonkinea Kerremans, 1909 stat. rev. is removed from synonymy with C. (C.) aurostriata Saunders, 1866. Three new synonymies are established: C. (C.) aeneoviolacea=C. (C.) elongata Kerremans, 1900 syn. nov.=C. (C.) keyensis Théry, 1923 syn. nov. (the latter was formerly synonym of C. (C.) elongata); C. (C.) dohrnii=C. (C.) fairmairei Kerremans, 1895 syn. nov. (formerly synonym of C. (C.) mniszechii). Neotype is designated for C. (C.) sonnerati Laporte de Castelnau & Gory, 1835 and lectotypes are designated for following taxa to ensure their correct application and recognition in future: C. (C.) aurostriata, C. (C.) fairmairei, C. (C.) fuscitarsis, C. (C.) sumatrensis Kerremans, 1895, C. (C.) tonkinea, C. (C.) yerburyi Waterhouse, 1905, C. (P.) coelestina Obenberger, 1922, and C. (P.) inslabilis Deyrolle, 1864. Additionally, dark species of the subgenus Pseudochrysodema are revised and as a result C. (P.) coelestina stat. rev. and C. (P.) instabilis stat. rev. are removed from synonymy with C. (P.) radians (Guérin-Méneville, 1830) and a new species C. (Pseudochrysodema) jakli sp. nov. is described from Timor Island, Indonesia. All herein included taxa are illustrated with colour photographs of habitus and the male aedeagus when available. All new taxa are diagnosed and a key to species of the C. aeneoviolacea-group is given.

New Caledonian members of the tribe Cryptonychini are revised. The tribe is represented by eigth genera and 23 species, all but one endemic to New Caledonia. A new genera Paratorquispa gen. nov. and Wanatispa gen. nov. are proposed, and 11 species are described as new: Brontispa caledonica sp. nov., Caledonispa bivittata sp. nov., Caledonispa panieensis sp. nov., Caledonispa spinosa sp. nov., Isopedhispa costata sp. nov., Isopedhispa latemarginata sp. nov., Teretrispa daccordii sp. nov., Teretrispa longicollis sp. nov., Torquispa convexifrons sp. nov., Wanatispa cylindricollis sp. nov., and Wanatispa rutai sp. nov. Torquispa caledoniae Uhmann, 1954 is transferred to the genus Paratorquispa, comb. nov. Each taxon is provided with a detailed description, set of figures and studied material. Keys to all taxa are proposed.

A checklist of the species of leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) of El Salvador is presented based on data from literature and a digitization project of the Bechyné collection of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). The RBINS collections contain a total of 2797 individual chrysomelid specimens from El Salvador, sorted into 89 species and 132 genera. In total, the current checklist contains 420 species, of which 33 are new records for El Slavador from the Bechyné collection. In these collections, there are also ten nomina nuda named by Bechyné, which need further study. The leaf beetle diversity in El Salvador, partly due to the country’s unstable political history, remains poorly studied, and many (new) species await discovery. This checklist provides a baseline for further study in El Salvador and nearby region.

Type specimens of various taxa of Imatidiini and Hybosispini were examined to verify their identity. The following taxonomic changes are proposed based on these comparisons. New combinations: Cephaloleia apertura (Staines, 2013) comb. nov. (from Aslamidium Borowiec, 1984), Cephaloleia jataiensis (Pic, 1923) comb. nov. (from Xenispa Baly, 1859), Pseudimatidium bicoloricornis (Pic, 1926) comb. nov. (from Windsorispa Sekerka, 2014), Xanthispa miniacea (Blanchard, 1843) comb. nov. (from Homalispa Baly, 1859), Xenispa aeneipennis (Baly, 1859) comb. nov. (from Cephaloleia Chevrolat, 1836), Xenispa gilvipes (Uhmann, 1930) comb. nov. (from Cephaloleia), Hybosispa claripes (Pic, 1923) comb. nov. (from Solenispa Weise, 1905), Hybosispa delectabilis (Staines, 1996) comb. nov. (from Cephaloleia), Hybosispa sulciceps (Baly, 1885) comb. nov. (from Cephaloleia), and Hybosispa truncatipennis (Baly, 1869) comb. nov. (from Cephaloleia). New synonyms: Cephaloleia impressa Uhmann, 1930 = Demothispa clermonti Pic, 1934 syn. nov.; Xenispa atra (Pic, 1926) = Cephaloleia cyanea Staines, 1996, syn. nov. Change in status: Cephaloleia fernandoi (Bondar, 1940) stat. restit. is removed from synonymy with C. opaca Baly, 1859. The monotypic genus Serratispa Staines, 2002 assign. nov. is transferred from Sceloenoplini to Imatidiini based on morphological characters. Three species are described: Cephaloleia fouquei sp. nov. from Bolivia and Peru, C. renei sp. nov. from Ecuador, and Xenispa fouquei sp. nov. from Venezuela. Keys to Cephaloleia basalis Weise, 1910 species-group, Venezuelan species of Xenispa Baly, 1859, and species of Hybosispa Weise, 1905 are proposed to simplify identifi cation of respective taxa. Most of the taxa discussed herein are provided with colour photographs.

A review of Dorynota Chevrolat s. str. is presented in which 18 species are included in the subgenus. Three new species are described: Dorynota (s. str.) monneorum Simoes and Sekerka, new species and Dorynota (s. str.) borowieci Simoes and Sekerka, new species from Brazil, and Dorynota (s. str.) wappesi Sekerka and Simoes, new species from Bolivia. Two new synonyms are proposed: Dorynota (s. str.) aculeata (Boheman, 1854) = Dorynota (s. str.) pubescens (Blake, 1939), new synonymy, and Dorynota (s. str.) cornigera Boheman, 1854 = Dorynota (s. str.) bellicosa Boheman, 1854, new synonymy. Dorynota (s. str.) pugnax Boheman, 1854, restored status, is resurrected from synonymy with Dorynota (s. str.) nodosa (Boheman, 1854). Thirty-five new country and region records are reported for 10 species. A key to species and color photographs of all species are provided.

SummaryThe type specimens of Sagrinae housed in the collections of the Museum national d’Histoire naturelle (Paris) are cataloged. All specimens present in the collection are listed with verbatim label data and discussed. The collection consists of 27 holotypes, one allotype, one paratype and 32 syntypes of 49 species. Results are summarized as follows. Matings frequently observed between the tortoise beetles Plagiometriona forcipata (Boheman, 1855) and Plagiometriona emarcida (Boheman, 1855), in the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, led us to compare the ecology, life history and genetics of these two morphologically distinct species. Host plant censuses revealed P. emarcida was about five times more abundant, while populations of both species responded in parallel to climate. Laboratory-reared immature P. forcipata took 2 days longer to complete development and showed higher mortality rates. No differences were detected in ovipositional behaviour, genitalia morphology or in sex ratio of offspring. The adult offspring of field-caught females of both species contained individuals with both species' elytral patterns. Finally, nearly identical cytochrome oxidase I sequences obtained from individuals of each species suggest that they are a single polymorphic species. Based on these observations and the examination of type material we propose the new synonymy...

Three species of Cassida Linne, 1758 from NE India are described as new to the science: Cassida mishmiensis sp. nov. (Arunachal Pradesh), C. atrosignata sp. nov. (Arunachal Pradesh) and C. pacholatkoi sp. nov. (Meghalaya). Type material of Thlaspida obenbergeri Spaeth, 1928 has been studied and a lectotype designation is given here. Thlaspida obenbergeri is transferred to the genus Cassida (comb, nov.) and a following new synonym is proposed: Cassida crucipennis Borowiec, 2003 = Cassida obenbergeri (Spaeth, 1928).

A new subgenus and species, Charidotella (Chapadacassis subgen. n.) paradoxa sp. n. is described and figured from the Chapada plateau in Mato Grosso, Brazil. Subgenera of Charidotella Weise, 1896 are listed, supplemented with basic data, diagnostic table, and a key is proposed. Based on a study of respective type material following new combinations are proposed: Charidotella (Philaspis) stulta (Boheman, 1855), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) amoenula (Boheman, 1855), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) cyclographa (Boheman, 1855), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) discoidalis (Boheman, 1855), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) incerta (Boheman, 1855), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) purpurea (Linnaeus, 1758), comb. n., Charidotella (Xenocassis) myops (Boheman, 1855), comb. n. (all previously placed in the nominotypical subgenus), and Plagiometriona cingulata (Boheman, 1862), comb. n. (from Charidotella (Xenocassis)).

Type specimens of Cassidinae deposited at Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China were studied and as a result following new synonymies are proposed: Cassida expansa Gressitt, 1952 = C. smaragdocruciata Medvedev & Eroshkina, 1982 syn. nov.; C. concha Solsky, 1872 = C. juglans Gressitt, 1942 syn. nov.; Rhoptrispa dilaticotnis (Duvivier, 1891) = Rhadinosa abnormis Gressitt & Kimoto, 1963 syn. nov. Lasiochila fukiena Gressitt, 1950 stat. nov. is removed from synonymy of L. insulana Uhmann, 1929. Each taxon is provided with photograph of dorsal habitus and additional comment clarifiyng its status where necessary.

The genus Pilemostoma is revised and its status discussed. Pilemostoma fastuosa (Schaller, 1783) is treated as the only valid species of the genus and the following new synonyms are proposed: Pilemostoma fastuosa (Schaller, 1783) = Pilemostoma bucharica Spaeth, 1914 (syn. nov.) = Cassida fastuosa ab. Dollmani Donisthorpe in Fowler, 1913 (syn. nov.). Pilemostoma fastuosa is redescribed together with the precise distributional data and the bionomics. Two new host plants, Inula salicina and I. ensifolia (Asteraceae), are recorded for P. fastuosa.
