The intricate geomorphology of the coastline in the Chilean Channels and Fjords region, together with the freshwater inputs from the ice fields provide the area with very unique ecological characteristics and a variety of habitats that favour great marine biodiversity. However, although Chilean Patagonia has been the focus of several expeditions and ecological surveys, the greatest emphasis has been either on the populated coasts of the Beagle Channel and the Straits of Magellan to the south or the area to the north of Golfo de Penas, leaving vast areas that remain largely unexplored. This leads to a latitudinal gap in the faunistic information and hinders zoogeographic studies to assess biogeographical connections along the eastern coasts of the Pacific. Peracarida is a taxonomic group that provides an excellent model for such studies because of their high abundance and biodiversity, benthic habits, small size and limited dispersal capacity. A dataset providing the first and only records of the benthic Peracarida between the latitudes 48–51.5°S of the Pacific coast of Chile is presented here, hence closing a geospatial gap for the study of the biogeographical connections of the Peracarida along the Eastern Pacific coast. The dataset comprises a total of 141 georeferenced records of 60 sublittoral species of Tanaidacea, Isopoda and Amphipoda. This and other studies reveal that the coastal fauna of the region follow a latitudinal distribution pattern at a larger scale and nested assemblages inside the channels and fjords that can be regarded as a consequence of the more restrictive conditions in the inner parts. In the present scenario of global warming that is expected to affect particularly polar and subpolar regions, the present dataset serves as a reference for the distribution patterns of benthic organisms with low dispersal capacity.

The uristid lysianassoids are reported for the first time from Korean waters with a redescription of Anonyxabei Takekawa & Ishimaru, 2001 and the description of Anonyxexilipessp. n.Anonyxabei is characterized by a distinctively small projection of the posterodistal corner on epimeron 3, different from all species of the Anonyxnugax group which share a constriction at the point of insertion of a distal seta on the inner ramus of uropod 2. Anonyxexilipessp. n. is included in the Anonyxlaticoxae group characterized by the unconstricted inner ramus of uropod 2. This new species is distinguished from other A.laticoxae group species by the longer and more slender carpus and propodus of pereopod 6, and the non-lobate merus of pereopod 7.

Two Norwegian uristid amphipods, obligate associates of sea anemones, have for a long time been confused sub nomine Onisimus normani Sars, 1890. In reality this species only occurs in south Norway, while the north-Norwegian material belongs to O. turgidus (Sars, 1879), described from the Barents Sea and for a long time forgotten. This paper fully illustrates both species, gives a key, and provides data on their distribution and ecology.

The Carcinological Collection of División Zoología Invertebrados, Museo de La Plata (FCNyM-UNLP) includes of 110 type lots of 42 species. A list of types of the crustacean orders Anostraca (8 species), Diplostraca (5 species), Arguloida (3 species), Cyclopoida (1 species), Poecilostomatoida (8 species), Siphonostomatoida (2 species), Podocopida (4 species), Amphipoda (2 species), Isopoda (2 species), Mysida (2 species) and Decapoda (5 species) is presented. Species names are listed in systematical order, including type locality, collection number, current taxonomic status and original bibliographic reference. The amphipod fauna from hydrothermal vent habitats on the Juan de Fuca Ridge and from experimental wood deployments are examined. The material revealed, among others, a number of lysianassid species belonging to the genera, Paronesimoides Pirlot, 1933 and Schisturella Norman, 1900, and a species of the family Sebidae, belonging to the genus Seba Bate, 1862. A new species of Centromedon Sars, 1891 is described based on abundant material collected in baited traps at 2500 m on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The species can be distinguished from the most closely allied species, Centromedon typhlops (Sars, 1879), Centromedon mediator (Barnard, 1962) comb. nov. and Centromedon laevis (Bonnier, 1896) comb. nov., by the form of the gnathopods, and characters of the mouthparts. A key to the eight species in the genus is provided. The differences between the closely allied genera Uristes Dana, 1849 and Centromedon are discussed.
